Even though the outside has new paint and stonework it is still a very old building. So old it has noisy window air conditioners. Elevator makes a lot of noise and shudders and I wonder if its going to make it. I'm a Bonvoy member but will never stay here again. Doesn't live up to the Marriott Bonvoy standards. read more

This place is in need of a complete renovation. When you walk in you get a smoky smell. Overall the layout of room is spacious, plus you get a kitchenette, sitting area, but the TV is from 2006!!! Had to turn the volume way high to hear it. There is a lot of noise, I think it was from the a/c or something. The beds are comfortable at least. My husband did bring up some issues upon check out and management did call us to address them which I give bonus for them reaching out and crediting bonus points. Upon check in since I have Marriott elite status they didn't offer upgrade. They do have breakfast which was a plus to grab before we headed out. I used to stay here all the time when I was out of town for work. I would be out of town for a long periods of time so it was the only logical choice For obvious reasons. I love the kitchen ats and the stove and the full fridge, Being able to have a living room and then a separate bedroom is great. They do one of the best Breakfasts i've ever had in any hotel. They used to do an afternoon snack or soup, but they don't do that anymore. This was about 10 years ago when I used to frequently stay there. Since that time I don't think they have done any improvements or any upgrade. Even the mere upkeep of the hotel looks like it's not happening. It looks like the exact same furniture that was there over ten years ago. It's all beat up scratched and just in poor condition. They must never do any repainting because there are scuff marks all over everything.The walls the doors you name it. It's sad because this could be the best hotel in chico. Shoot they don't even have anywhere to plug In a u s b. And in the bedroom the dresser that the tv sits on is so low you have to prop yourself up in bed to be able to watch it. I wish I had more good things to say about it.Because I really do love this hotel and would probably stay there again solely because of the kitchen and location. We recently stayed here overnight after visiting the Sierra Nevada Brewery with my daughter, SIL and granddaughter in one of the two (2) bedroom queen-sized suites. This was ideal for us having the fully equipped kitchen, living room area, two separate bedrooms with full bathrooms in each room. We felt like we were in an apartment rather than being in a hotel even having a faux fireplace to take the chill of the night away in the living room area as we played Uno at the kitchen table in the spacious common area to wrap up our night after the wonderful dinner we had at the Sierra Nevada Taproom. The Residence Inn is centrally located from downtown, close to restaurants, shopping and literally one (1) exit away from Sierra Nevada Brewery with them sharing that guests of the brewery stay at this very Inn often. There was even a miniature golf course with batting cages along with roller skating rink at the end of the street for another FUN option. Only thing that was amiss, hot tub was working but the pool was down not that we were planning to use it but the nearby hotel that shares the parking lot offers guest at the Residence Inn use of their pool. Added bonus, the next morning, Residence Inn served a complimentary breakfast from 7am to 10am which was an array of offerings from scrambled to hard-boiled eggs, various meats, yogurt, cereals, bread, fruit, juice, coffee and pastries - OMTASTY! Price was reasonable as we found that they met our needs for what we were looking for in convenience for location, comfort and amenities - having the separate bedrooms and full kitchen while traveling with our four month old granddaughter was a true blessing. Bathrooms are roomy with water pressure plus temperature perfect, queen-sized bed was super comfy with plenty of pillows, we would recommend Residence Inn to anyone wanting to come to Chico anddd of course we would stay here again with downtown, shopping and the brewery close by! One of the few times i recommend the courtyard over the residence inn. They share a common parking lot, and close to Costco, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company & Chico's major shopping. My room had that musty smell, one that i experience when i stay at Scuba dive hotels in the Caribbean- but Chico is not that humid. The exterior windows had significant spider web build up, as did the entry way into the hotel. The hotel is just in need of a deep cleaning. The Hot tub is at the Courtyard, but Residence Inn customers can walk across parking lot to use. The Staff was wonderful and easy to interact with. i had an issue with a door handle into my room (pull up, not push down). I used the cell phone to call the front desk when the light flashed green, but door wouldn't open. They sent someone up and showed me the trick - straight away. read more

Stay across the parking lot at courtyard if you can. This place is a run down dump. Noises coming from random places, not people sounds but broken equipment sounds. Lights are burnt out, paint is messed up, carpets are stained and dirty. Signs are faded with sharpied in commentary. Stayed at the courtyard and they're 4.5 stars. Stayed here and they're 1 star. Switched rooms but still disappointed. Not worth the price even if it was less than $100, which it was not. read more

Great Staff, great room layout/amenities for a family or longer stay, generally very clean. But, Room 104 smelled as much like cigarettes as any room I have ever stayed at. Hotel was fully booked, so no changes were possible. That room needs a thorough cleaning including carpets and drapes and probably the AC unit. I kept hoping it wasn't that bad, and that opening windows etc. would mitigate the smell, but each return to the room was rough. If I could be sure this is remedied, I would happily stay there again. If I don't know it's fixed, I won't return. read more

Made a reservation for work, email did not give any cancellation policy. Cancelled within 24 hours, and was charged anyway. Called and asked what policy was and was told it is 48 hours. It is no where listed on the reservation confirmation email. i explained that i was had to change because my co-worker got covid, so we needed to reschedule. Booked this for a family of 4 - My wife and I and our 2 kids(ages 4 and 8 mos.). We got the studio suite which was just perfect! It had 2 separate bedrooms with queen beds and an attached bath in each of them. The central space was a large living room and a kitchen with a refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. Silverware and plates and bowls, including dish soap was provided. The space was great, not only did we have all the amenities we needed with the kids, we could also host friends who swung by to visit. Considering the COVID corridor we're in today along with yet another bout of fires ravaging NorCal while we arrived, all safety precautions were followed well by the hotel. It was clean, and well maintained. We couldn't have asked for more considering how challenging things in general are these days. The one point I'd like to call out, is that if you're new to the area, this place is right next to 'Courtyard by Marriott' and that can make it a tad confusing. We almost went in to Courtyard first as the main entrance to it is a lot larger and more noticeable than Residence Inn's which is probably because the latter is an extended say facility. read more

2 stars for room 312 specifically. 4 stars for politeness of the hotel staff. Had to come go to Chico at the very last minute for work so I booked on-line via the Marriott website. The only room left was a 2 bed, 2 bath with fireplace suite for $189. Since beggars can't be choosers, I locked in the reservation and jumped in the car. After a 3 hour drive, arrived at the hotel..which shares a parking lot with the Courtyard by Marriott. The Residence Inn's front entrance is not clearly marked at all. There are doors all over the place and several sides of the exterior look like the FRONT entrance. The confusion is purely annoying in the dark after a long drive. Front desk staff was really nice and apologized when I complained about the entrance. She asked if Room 312 was "ok", since I had never been to this hotel before, I said, "sure.". Got my 3 keys and headed up to my room. Room 312 itself was nice when you open the door because you are greeted by the full kitchen and fireplace. Flanking the living area are the 2 bedrooms which each had their own full bathrooms. I first choose the room on the left since I liked the layout of that room better. I unpacked all of my clothes and then noticed a strange buzz coming out of the bathroom. I flipped the light switch on and off hoping that would help, but the buzz remained. OH NO. So, I made my way across the hotel room and closed all of the doors as I went to see if closing the doors would seal out the noise. I ended up in the other bedroom and did not hear the buzz anymore (and now 3 doors are closed). The bedroom on the right has a HUGE flood light on the outside of the window that the blackout curtains did not cover. The light spilled out of the sides of the curtain so much that I literally woke up every single hour that night thinking that I overslept. SIGH. Mercifully, I made it to 7 am. Had breakfast downstairs. The breakfast was free and had hot items. The coffee was good. The food just "eh". I ended up checking out one night early. I need sleep. read more

Dog friendly! Nice little suite with sofa, chairs, dinette and desk, two TVs, bedroom, kitchenette. Nothing extraordinary, but clean and comfortable. Always love the Marriott's Residence Inn. Feels like home, with breakfasts and dinners included, and cookies at the front desk in the evening. Not much available for hotel grounds, basically walking pups in parking lot, but happy to have a a room with space enough for two kennels and two dogs. This is an excellent property. It is located close to downtown Chico, about a 10-minute drive away. There are many restaurants and shops nearby. The lobby is clean, large and inviting. The staff is friendly and helpful. My room was very large, clean, and quiet, with a comfortable queen-size bed in a separate bedroom, 2 flat-screen TVs, work desk, dining table, and kitchen with full-size refrigerator and stove. The bathroom was spacious, clean, and well-lit. The internet speed was great. I would choose to stay at this property again in the future. read more

Extremely comfortable, clean and professional staff. We stayed for 5 days and we felt at home with the large clean rooms. The hotel offers breakfast and evening appetizers vs a small meal at dinner. We traveled to Chico to tend to an extremely delicate family matter and the staff at the Residence Inn were accommodating to my family... very comforting. For a three day stay in one of their kitchenette suites, it was an above average experience. They're equipped in full and stocked with dishes, glasses, and utilities. Their rooms also come with wi-fi and a big TV (that rotates). The bed was comfy and everything you'd expect in a hotel suite was available. First, some bad news. There really isn't much to do around the area. I know it's hard to judge a hotel by it's area, but everyone takes it into consideration in the back of their mind. You're located next to a noisy freeway, but all around you are just strip malls and Home Depots. For the literal folks, there is a Barnes and Noble, but that's about it. Go down a few blocks and there's the Chico Mall, Best Buy, and Target. You can drive through Chico's Downtown in 10 minutes. In addition to that, both my girlfriend and her co-worker in separate rooms experienced morning showers with luke-warm water. Perhaps it was just a problem in the morning, but fortunately for me, I was spared that fate. Needless to say, I have a lot of good things to say about this hotel too. They have a nice gym room with steppers and some weights. They also have an outdoor swimming pool with a basketball court (not full) with a staff that are friendly and generally helpful. On top of that they have complimentary breakfast as well as a mid-day snack bar from 5 to 7pm. The breakfast area also has board games to check out and a few old books for you to browse through. Everything you'd need if you want to hide away from the world for a few days. I'm at odds with just giving it 3 stars, as it should be 3.5, but maybe a revisit and an extended stay might giving me a better picture of this inn. read more

Great room with a decent size kitchenette. The staff was friendly and there are toys and coloring books in the lobby to help amuse the kids as a diversion from the room. Conveniently located to the highway and stores. Room was quiet to hallway noise (we were one door down from the elevator) and we couldn't hear our neighbors. We only stayed 2 nights but would consider staying longer on a future visit to have time to use the pool and grill areas. read more

When is a confirmed reservation not a confirmed reservation? At Residence Inn by Marriott Chico, CA. Beware. I booked a 2 bedroom suite handicapped accessible shower for myself and my 80 year old mother. I booked the reservation April 7, 2022 for a stay July 28-31 20022 and received verbal and email confirmations. On July 15, 2022 I received a phone call saying my reservation 13 days away could not be honored as they had guests extending their stays and could not offer any solutions. So, from my first hand experience your reservation and confirmation mean nothing at this hotel. Just beware. read more

Large rooms, equipped with full kitchen and very comfortable beds. The hotel was more like a mini apartment than a hotel room, possibly not even needing the "mini" qualifier. Think spacious, comfortable, reasonably priced and tons of amenities. The high level of service is what separates the Residence Inn from the other main competitors in town. All of the staff were smiling and pleasant and incredibly courteous. This included the people working at the front desk, the breakfast staff, and the cleaning staff as well. Thank you, Residence Inn, you will now be my first choice if I'm ever looking for a hotel in Chico. Oh and that pool temperature was fantastic and refreshing on a hot day. read more

This place is very dirty. I mean the elevator had some kind of stain on the floor and every door had scratches and black smudges all over them. The kitchen in my room was very old but that's not too much of an issue. My room has some stains here and there also. The beds were comfortable, I'll give them that. Do not book this hotel! They will screw you. We booked 2 rooms for 3 nights for Chico State University's graduation. CSU cancelled commencement this year because of coronavirus. The hotel triples rates that weekend because of the commencement ceremony, which I understand (supply , demand, etc). But when we tried to cancel the rooms, we were refused . . . So even though I can not attend my son's graduation ceremony, Marriott is still making me pay them approximately $2,000. Noting, I make just a very little bit more to qualify for the stimulus package, but Marriott will get a ton of money. read more

I thought for a Residence Inn this was a pretty nice stay. The rooms are well kept and clean. They have a nice breakfast in the morning complete with hot food such as eggs, sausage, and potatoes. More than the standard carb heavy, cold breakfast at most places. I wish they had more yogurt and fruit, but it's possible they may have run out. When I was there a large group of kids kept going through a lot of stuff at the buffet and the lady running the thing had a hard time keeping up. Not her fault. The good part of this was the hotel must have had them isolated somewhere or the kids were well supervised because we didn't hear them during our stay. They are pet friendly, but charge a $100 "cleaning fee" which is a bit much. We'd gladly bring our small dog (she's 7 lbs and it doesn't cost anywhere near $100 to clean anything up after her) if it wasn't so steep. The location is OK and surrounded by a few restaurants and a short distance from other shopping. It's not right in downtown, but it's not very far and only a few minutes drive. read more

The management of this hotel is barely one star. My son and I reserved a suite in the Marriott Residence inn, it cost me over 300.00 dollars for two nights, when we arrived our room was over 85 degrees, they moved us to a second room for the night and a third room for the third night, the only thing we got for our trouble was complimentary bag of peanuts and a bag of chips, my son's first experience at Chico State was not a good one. We stayed in the Residence Inn for a few days around Halloween while attending a wedding in Chico. The hotel and their staff were very nice! The room was large and comfortable, the sitting area felt roomy, and while we didn't really use the kitchen, I appreciated the full sized refrigerator with an ice maker. The bathroom was also of a very nice size, although a bit more space around the sink would've been appreciated. This hotel serves a complimentary breakfast each morning, and while the room was often quite full of people, no one was complaining about the food, everyone liked it. Newspapers are provided down in the lobby, and that's a nice touch. I felt that the rates were reasonable too. If I had only one minor complaint, it would be that (so far as I know) only Queen sized beds were available; I would've reserved a King if I could have. As a side note, this hotel shares a parking lot with another property in the same family of hotels - this was good for us, as we had some family staying next door, and that made getting together just that much easier. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if I were back in Chico for any reason. If the location of the hotel is good for you, this would probably be a great place for you and your family too! read more

This was a great hotel experience, mostly because I was pleasantly surprised that the room was pretty large. Room had a King bed, TV, couch/living area, good size bathroom, kitchen complete with fridge, microwave and a place to sit and eat or work. The free breakfast in the morning was pretty good. I was actually too late to catch the full breakfast (ends at 10 on weekends) but even leftovers were pretty good. Fruit, yogurt, pastries, cereal, coffee. If I could rate this hotel 0 stars I would. I had a horrible experience staying at the Residence inn and will NEVER return to this hotel. I am so angry I would like to cuss all over this yelp review but to keep it professional and to make my complaint heard I better not. As a current Interstate employee I am shocked by the level of customer service offered at this Hotel. The staff working at the front desk (more specifically the tall black man with the African accent. I believe his name was Tomar or something of the sort.) He should NOT be in customer relations of ANY kind. He was extremely rude to me upon checking into my room- As a current Interstate employee I attempted to use my discount card as part of my employee benefits only to be accused of fraud. The card I had printed was a smaller version of the ones they have usually seen since it was printed from my phone. I wrote my ID number below the card in PENCIL so it would be easier for them to make out.This man started yelling at me in the Lobby telling me he was going to call the Police for fraud before he even gave me a chance to prove that I was actually an employee. The general manager, Lori came out only to interrogate me with questions regarding my work while he was accusing me of a CRIME and threatening to call the police. Her suggestion- I have to contact my GM and have him/her contact her to verify that I was an employee. I eventually emailed the GM a PDF of my card and the situation was resolved but are you freaking kidding me? This is just the start. I will not stop until I know something has been done about this. The Hotel in which I would would NEVER hire someone with such disrespect and unprofessionalism. Be careful out there folks. Dont stay here. read more

This place is beautiful, the rooms are the standard apartment style living. I travel with my dogs and it was wonderful to find out that bringing my German Shepherd and Labrador along wouldn't be a problem. The staff are friendly and eager to help. The pool is nice, but the gym is small with only a treadmill, stair master, and bike. However they make up this fault with a great breakfast: eggs, the normal carbohydrate assortment, plain yogurt with fruit that you can add to it, waffles, etc. At night they have a "reception" which in reality is a free dinner. The first night they offered "make your own burritos" along with the free dinner you have the option of having two complimentary drinks per night. We arrived here around 2 o'clock in the morning after a long flight and the front desk clerk was wide-awake and happy to help us with any of our needs. We stayed in room 320 and it was quite spacious with a king size bed and sofa, as well as a kitchen area. It has a refrigerator, coffee pot, sink with garbage disposal and dishwasher. They have it stocked with plates, cups and utensils. It's like a mini apartment. It's conveniently located to Highway 99 and a Dutch brothers... Bonus points for that one.The pool is outside here but the hotel right next to it will allow you to use their indoor pool if you ask. The breakfast here is not gourmet by any means, but it is the best breakfast that I have had offered in a hotel of this variety. There were both scrambled eggs and egg whites available. They also had whole boiled eggs already peeled, brie cheese... Seriously, and turkey sausage. I made a breakfast bowl out of some of that. Oh and they also had ham slices. Of course, they also offered the regular staples like waffles, oatmeal and pastries. The only bummer is the traffic noise coming from 99. If you're trying to get solid sleep and adjust to west coast time, then you need to bring some ear plugs. If you need to do laundry, they have complimentary washing supplies at the front desk. Be prepared with cash to exchange for quarters because they can't add it to the room. read more

WOW I am still in shock. I work for a company that puts their entire crew each week into hotels and I will never again book this hotel! The man working at the front desk is SO incompetent!!!!!! I normally try to find something positive but when writing a review but I am so shocked! He called me to confirm our Credit Card Authorization and tried to tell me I only booked single bed rooms and i would need to book one more room to get each guy a bed. I Never put our crew members on a pull out couch. He said he would cancel it and hung up on me! AWFUL, I called back and said that I needed a cancellation confirmation and he said he sent it to my email... he did not. Then said "oh yea you do have a double bed".... Never again. We stayed at Marriot during the Labor Day weekend and was please with the overall experience and service. The check-in was quick, the staff provide good advice on where to keep our bicycle but we decided to keep 3 bikes in the room since we have the suite. The suite came complete with kitchen and big enough for family of 4 or 5 but I wish it came with King size bed. Love the HD TV in the room and bedroom. Breakfast is great and they have make your own waffle, fresh fruits, juices and coffee. So it is hot breakfast and not like the one you get at Best Western. The bed is a little old and too soft and does not provide good support. I had bad ache in the morning. I would recommend to a friend since location is good next to freeway but I wish it was near the downtown. read more
