From the waglu meatballs downstairs in their beautiful lounge to their charcuterie board on the rooftop..all the food was first class! They have happy hour in the bar downstairs starting at 2pm and happy hour on the rooftop starting at 4pm. Great selection of beer and wine! Both offer a full bar. The next day breakfast was the farmers special with fluffy eggs..rosemary potatoes and crispy bacon plus artisan bread. So good! We sat outside by the pool area which is dog friendly and very relaxing ! This boutique hotel has it all and we loved it! Great birthday! 3/5 stars My husband and I made reservations here for a birthday lunch and noted the occasion in the reservation, but unfortunately nothing was acknowledged by the staff. Our server was prompt, polite, and friendly, which we appreciated. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated with lots of natural light and a pleasant atmosphere. I'd describe it as "Chico nice" -- casual and trendy, but not fine dining or especially refined service. The food was okay to good, but nothing memorable. We ordered the avocado toast, chicken sandwich, a beer, and a sweet drink, and the total came to about $72. Everything was perfectly fine, just not the kind of food or experience that would make me want to return, especially for a birthday celebration. My wife and I came here for a date night. In the reservation, my wife asked for them to put a rose on the table. The host told us they didn't have any roses but came out with a little bouquet! For the dinner part, we were expecting a little more. The complimentary cornbread wasn't great in our opinions, but I'm sure others may like it. It's clearly homemade and comes with 3 different butters to put on top. We ordered the Salmon and Smashburger and they were both definitely over priced for what it tasted like. The salmon didn't have a lot of seasoning so it sort of tasted like something we'd give our cat. The sweet potato's on that dish were also not the best. The smashburger, in my opinion, would've tasted better if I got it from In N Out across the street. The entire burger just tasted like meat..no seasoning and there was maybe a drop of their aioli on the burger so all in all it just wasn't the best. I would've had a better experience at In N Out. We also ordered the Wagyu meatballs and never received them. We thought it was taking a minute to cook but all we got instead was the check..he didn't even ask us if we wanted dessert. We had wanted to check out their dessert menu and possibly get their strawberry shortcake but I guess that wasn't in the cards for us. We also ordered a cocktail and mocktail. My wife's mocktail (Kava Mule) was great! My cocktail (Horchata Mai Tai) was genuinely the strongest drink I've ever had. The flavor was nice if you could get past the amount of Bacardi they poured in there. Every drink I took felt like I was taking a shot. So with all that being said, unfortunately we won't be returning to Rancher's Daughter. Came here for a Mother's Day + birthday dinner. We sat at the table for about 15 minutes without water and before the server came over. Drinks took 40 minutes to come out, we ordered a glass of wine & margarita. The appetizers took 50 mins to come out, the wagyu meatballs came out cold while the Brussels sprouts came out pipping hot. When main courses came, out my mom was missing 3+ ingredients on her plate while my dad asked for his steak to be well done and it came out medium. It was just unfortunate because the server never came by to check in on us and it was hard to track her down to ask about items or understanding the miscommunication on the missing food items/food temperatures. Tried out this restaurant located in the new Hotel Katerina. Turns out, Sunday's a slow night for them but that didn't affect the food or service. The place is super cute plus there's a cute rooftop bar with happy hour/small plates menus. Cocktail selection is broad, with lots of variations and one punny name - Katerina Wine Mixer. They also have a selection of NA beers and offered to make a mocktail if I wanted one. Settled for a ginger beer with lime. Leo was a great server, offering suggestions and checking in at appropriate intervals. The meal starts off with a mini skillet of fresh baked cornbread and 3 butters. Cornbread was slightly crumbly but had real corn kernels in it. The butters were a maple pecan, salted honey, and blue cheese jalapeño. Tonight the hubs started with arancini balls which were flavorful although the rice was slightly undercooked. He had the sweet heat chicken sando...the hot honey was a nice touch and the homemade chips it came with were crispy with the perfect amount of salt. I ordered the scallop risotto since scallops are one of my favorite foods. It was impressive. The risotto was perfectly done. Dessert was offered, and I did peruse the menu. I was just too full to eat anything else. Love this farm to table concept...felt like I was in a different city than Chico. read more

Our waitress, Sara, was wonderful and attentive. The ambiance was nice as well, but unfortunately the food fell short. I wanted to like the food more. I had the brick chicken which was extremely dry. My friend had the flat iron steak ordered medium rare and it was closer to well done. For the price, I would not recommend this place. A promising new restaurant and hotel with charm, great service, and character Rancher's Daughter, located in the newly opened Hotel Katerina in Chico, CA, is off to a strong start and shows a lot of potential. The ambiance is upscale-casual with a warm, welcoming vibe, and the people truly go out of their way to make you feel at home. Highlights: * The food was very good overall, though they were out of a few menu items during my visit--including the filet--which was a bit of a letdown. Still, what was available was prepared well and flavorful. * Service was friendly and attentive, though a bit on the slow side, likely due to the team still ramping up and fine-tuning operations. * The sports bar behind the lobby deserves a shoutout--especially Franco, our bartender. Great guy, working solo to cover the entire first floor, including the restaurant. He was hustling all night and still managed to keep his cool and stay friendly. We even have a running bet that Franco can't sell a hotel room--so if you've had a few too many, strike up a conversation and see if he proves us wrong! * The upstairs bar also had a great vibe--more relaxed, with excellent drinks and a cozy atmosphere. * The hotel room was clean, very comfortable, and well-appointed--ideal for a short stay or weekend escape. Came to Chico for Mother's day. I had been looking at all the restaurants in the area. I picked this one I was really excited it look delicious. I didn't realize it was in hotel but that was no issue I wasn't sure where to go. But the nice staff at the hotel counter showed me where to go. I waited at the host stand a few minutes the young girl walked up she said something didn't quite catch it so I said "Hi, how are you?" She literally stared at me, i said okay. I still wasn't sure how this worked and said I wanted to sit for 4 she said upstairs is 1st come 1st serve.. well after the akward silence of her looking at me like I am an idiot I said okay I guess I won't eat here. If you don't want to work dont go. Or train your host to properly explain where to go how the restaurant works, so I can sit down. I get its busy but geez she is seriously in the wrong industry read more

Beautiful hotel and restaurant. We visited for the first time on Thanksgiving, which also happened to be my husband's birthday. The food was so disappointing. We really had high hopes but were let down. We shared the complimentary corn bread, the arancini, and the hummus crudite. I had the turkey Thanksgiving dinner plate and my husband had the tri tip Thanksgiving plate. The starters were okay - cornbread was a very light texture and the butters that came with it weren't that good. The arancini was fine, just nothing too special but didn't come out very hot. The hummus didn't taste like much and came with a ton of bell peppers, Kalamata olives, artichoke hearts, and some pita. The turkey dinner was not good. The mashed potatoes and the turkey were okay. The root vegetable medley was not good and the stuffing was terrible, it was so mushy and weird. The gravy on the mashed potatoes already had a film over it like it had been sitting out for a while and was not hot at all. I also got an espresso martini that was not good. My husband got the horchata Mai tai - he liked it. My husband said the tri tip was okay but overall the plate was disappointing. They also mentioned on the phone that they would give us a complimentary dessert for my husband's birthday but never brought anything out. Trying to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was a busy night and might give them another chance with their regular menu entrees but I don't have high hopes. read more

I visited this restaurant for the first time on a Sunday with two friends. We checked out the rooftop dining bar. The view was great but the only vacant tables were directly in the sun, no umbrellas, so we opted to go down to the ground floor dining. Very quiet down there. Service was excellent. I had the chicken sandwich with fries, very tasty. One friend had the BLT which she enjoyed but felt the bacon was too greasy. The other friend had the quinoa salad with tofu which was supposed to be marinated but wasn't, just plain squared cubes of tofu. I would definitely return. It was nice to try a new place. read more

I usually never leave reviews- but I have a lot of thoughts about this place. First, it's a beautiful establishment. Decor and seating is nice and I love all the details. The drinks were really yummy. The food is where they lost me. We started off with apps. We got the elote and the poke bowl which was fine, not great. When our server brought out the complimentary cornbread, I was enjoying it, but when I got to one of the butters offered with the cornbread, I found that it tasted like mold . I'm not talking "mold-ish" I mean there was forsure mold in there. When we brought it up to our server, she basically told us there was no way. I was shocked. She also did nothing about it except for apologize. Our entrees were okay. Chicken was dry and bland. The only thing that was good was the steak ($60). I left the place feeling sick. read more

Went to breakfast twice here during our recent stay this weekend. Avocado toast was great. One time the bread was toasted perfectly... the second time it was toasted a little too much. Both times we got the potatoes and they were crunchy and soft inside. Highly recommend. My wife got the apricot jelly which was outstanding. The decor is great and the service was pretty good. A couple of times the waitresses took a bit too long. Early morning sun in the restaurant was kind of annoying... some light shades would be helpful. read more

a restaurant inside a higher end (for Chico) hotel. we ate brunch inside the ground level dining room; they also offer full menu on their outdoor / rooftop patio with a full bar, perfect when the weather and temperature are right, especially at sunset. service was solid on our maiden visit, big floor to ceiling window wall added a nice touch. the food... we pastrami hash came highly recommended as a signature dish; sadly it was highly overrated. I would've liked the meat to potato ratio to be 2:1, and the pastrami chunked, not shredded, and the potato's shouldn't be "home fries" -- they should be cubed and smaller (just my opinion); the warm house-made pickles don't work, and I am a pickle lover and lover of pickled anything. not terrible, but the two people in my party that ordered the hash said they will choose something else next time. {if people truly love the hash the way it is currently made, then rock on!} I had the Cobb salad and it was luscious... maybe hit the blackened chicken a little harder with that rub! my uncle got the omelette and loved it, would order it again; mom got the French toast -- she said great flavors but a little mushy in the middle. all in all, a positive experience and I'm sure this place will only get better; these are the opinions of just myself and my family, and we unanimously agree that the Rancher's Daughter will improve as they see fit! we applaud their ideas and can't wait to try their non-brunch menu, especially dinner... and all the specialty cocktails we saw going past us during brunch looked enticing. can't wait to come back and upgrade this joint to five stars! we $upport YOU! read more

Stopped in for a friend's birthday on 8/11/25. The ambiance is fantastic! Very cute decor and everything is clean. The staff was very friendly and the service was good, especially for a new establishment. We went for brunch, and the food was good, not great. I'll give them leeway for being new. Pretty basic brunch fare. Their eggs Benedict is served on really delicious biscuits that weren't dry at all! However, the side of bacon was advertised as thick cut, and it was pretty thin. The cocktails were the real star. Decent pour, great flavor, incredible presentation. I'll definitely be back. read more

The best part of our experience was the friendly staff! We celebrated a friend's birthday a couple weeks ago. I think the Brussels sprouts were the best item ordered. The cornbread they serve tasted rotten. I ordered the sweet heat chicken sandwich, the sauce was great, but beyond that, there was no flavor. The chicken tasted like it had been in the freezer for months. Everyone ordered something different and I didn't hear a single positive review. We were even noticing people at other tables making faces and not seeming to enjoy their food. I'm not sharing this to be mean or to cause people to avoid, I truly hope they work the kinks out and are successful. It was just a lot of money for less than mediocre food. And in this economy, we can't be taking those chances The drinks were nothing to rave about either. Yesterday, we decided to try happy hour at the rooftop bar. The weather was perfect for it! The view is neat, the drinks were mediocre, and the service up there is a little pretentious. And I'm still just appalled at the prices of everything. My husband and I each had one drink and the charcuterie board (which is small and not that great, they offer the worst gluten free cracker substitute you can find. There are really great gf options out there, so I hope they change that.) Anyway - this cost us $46 not sure how that's considered happy hour. But we really just wanted to enjoy the nice weather and catch up with our friends, so we still had a nice time. I think we'll wait a few months before giving it another chance. Just too slow! Went there around 11:30 on a Sunday no lines, but the place was full had to wait nearly an hour for our food and we had a toddler with us -very challenging! The food was very good and the service was good but there is room for improvement- servers need to make sure syrup comes with pancakes. Waters are on the table and silverware for all etc. I will try this place again though atmosphere is nice and I want to give it more stars next time. read more

We had a great breakfast here yesterday. Didn't realize it was inside the hotel until gps led us into the parking lot. Everything was great. Food was delicious and service was great. We had the chilaquiles and avocado toast. Both were good, especially the green sauce on the chilaquiles. Only change I would've made was to add a fried egg to the avocado toast. The rooftop bar is beautiful if it's open! The drinks are top notch and very tasty. I've had all the appetizers and the best of them are the wagyu meatballs, the arcini sauce balls, the chicken wings, and the truffle fries. Their cob salad is amazing. This was such a great surprise! A new gem in Chico! We were looking for a breakfast spot over by the mall and this popped up. I thought it was just going to be hotel food but then I looked up their website and scanned the menu. We decided to try it out and we're so glad we did! Excellent waitstaff. I gave it 2 stars, simply because the ambiance and service was great. Food and drink left much to be desired. I ordered a drink and a salad, the drink tasted like diluted cough syrup and lighter fluid, and while the salad while edible, the chicken on top of it was over cooked & over seasoned, and the salad was absolutely drenched in dressing (which hey some people dig that, but i'm definitely a lettuce forward kind of salad person) I considered sending it all back but my waitress Stephanie was very sweet and I didn't want to be a Karen. However, the salad and drink I got was definitely not worth the 45 dollars I paid. It's a shame as this place is really cute. I was starving for a chicken sandwich and I found this resturant that sells "organic" chicken sandwiches for 22 dollars. I thought this was going to be a delicious chicken sandwich but I was disappointed there was cucumber not even a pickle with some saucy in the greens I was not expecting. That was strangely thai. Not to mention the chicken was tough and stringy I could feel the dense strands as they broke in my teeth. Why was the chicken brown on the inside. The MAJOR upside was how wonderful the staff was. All of them treated uss with kindness and dignity. also the complimentary cookie that the staff so gracious said we could have was phenomenal which is why I was expecting that sandwich to be better. After this dinner I went out and didn't even over exert myself and my friend and I have stomach aches in the same spot. Why must you make us sick with this expensive crap. read more

Delightful experience for the first time at this lovely place. My longtime friend and I got together for our quarterly "catch up" visit and the lounge was perfect. The bartenders were super friendly, fellow bar customers were cheery which speaks to the atmosphere created by staff. The beer was cold and the Cobb salads were filling, tasty and super fresh! I will be back for sure to visit the upstairs lounge when it is a bit cooler. read more
