The Mulberry Station Brewing Company is a large restaurant complete with a stage, electric train, historic train station photos, wood-fired pizza oven, and of course, a bar! Order at the counter, take your number to your table, and they'll bring your food to the table. I was able to sample a couple of the beers before ordering. You can order half-and-half pizzas if the sauce is the same. The pizza we had was perfectly cooked. The balance of seasonings and toppings was pretty good. The crust was fairly thin, with some blackened edges (as the cardboard pizza box says, this is they way it's intended). I thought the crust lacked flavor, and have had much better wood-fired pizzas at other restaurants, so I was a little disappointed, given this restaurant's five-star ratings. Overall, good, but not great, IMHO. I'm not a college student, and am more particular than most, so your results may vary. If you're in the neighborhood, give Mulberry Station a try! A traditional brewery with European styles and excellent wood fired pizzas. The red and brown ales are excellent, with each beer being good for the style. The smoky pork pizza was recommended by employees and patrons alike and didn't disappoint. They have an HO scale model train layout they're happy to turn on if you ask. A modest stage allows for bands in the evening. I got to see an excellent jazz trio I'd love to see again. This place is popular amongst locals and travelers alike and it should be. The owners have put much care and love into this small brewery and restaurant, and it shows. The train theme is neat and you'll find many of the local patrons are quite interesting. All sorts of interesting local folks frequent here which have done many interesting things. Some of them have been key to Chico's development. The location is convenient and close to Sierra Nevada as well. A small casino is next to them in a small parking lot but isn't related to the brewery and has it's own entry. It looked closed to me, but apparently has some slot machines. Mulberry has plenty of parking and they sell 32 ounce Crowler cans of their beer to-go. They have great service, are clean and really a fun place. From what the locals said ad I observed, everything on the menu is good and so you can get a nice meal and good beer together. All the other kinds of pizzas that I've had here are really good as well. Their beers are fantastic. They seriously make great beers! We ordered multiple flights of beer, I will admit that we are not European craft fans, but the selection was enjoyable. I'm not exactly sure how I ended up here as the "last hoorah" before closing out a crazy St. Patrick's Day but here I was staring before a menu. My server was named Michael and he seemed knowledgable about the things that they offered. I chose the Caprese as an appetizer to start and paired it with a 10oz. DIPA. I was told this was one of their more hoppier beers but honestly didn't think it was too daunting. I then ordered the Smoked Porky pizza; i'd go into detail but I think the name tells all with this one. If your still confused then head on down to Mulberry Station and see for yourself! Overall the pizza was INCREDIBLE! The appetizer was FRESH and most importantly the beer was COLD! We happened to ask a member of the Team a couple of travel questions & he, without hesitation jumped at the opportunity to assist. That was before the appetizer & pizza You ABSOLUTELY MUST MUST (underscore) MUST try their Hummus!!! My husband and I are NOT fans of traditional hummus, but this... THIS changed our mindset about hummus with the VERY FIRST bite! We ordered 2 pizzas, one Margherita & one "make your own" variety. We got to catch up with a friend here while visiting Chico a few weeks ago. We were in for lunch on a Saturday and the place was pretty empty. That did mean immediate seating and service though. It's a newer place that wasn't around when my spouse lived in Chico, and this recent trip we wanted to focus on all the new food in town. It is pretty decent. The beer is good and the pizza's are yummy. They are also fairly priced considering that one pizza can serve 3 people very comfortably. We got 2 pizzas between 3 people and there were so many leftovers. I also really thought it was cool that when my spouse couldn't decide what beer to try, the bartender suggested the flight of ALL THE BEERS. Most places will do a flight of 4-6, but this place was like, here, have 10 six ounce pours of every beer we offer. My spouse is an avid beer drinker, but he had to enlist my help because 60oz is a lot for anyone to finish, especially when you are eating pizza as well. The only downside is that she didn't mention that you don't get a flight price, we were just charged individually for each 6oz pour at $2-$3 each. For pizza, we tried a smoked porky and the stache. The smoked porky was pretty straight forward, it's pork sausage and potatoes with white sauce. The stache was too weird sounding to not try. The pistachios, red onions, and white garlic sauce all complimented each other really nicely though and I would definitely get that again. It's also a really chill place, so if you just want to have a conversation with friends over pizza and beer, you can do that here and it won't get too loud to hear each other. read more

Heard about this place on Facebook and thought I would give it a try. They are currently only doing online ordering and it is pretty straight forward to get your order through. Ordered two pizzas since I was unsure of the size they would be: The Artisan and the Italian Garden Pizza. Both were really good and fresh but IMO, The Artisan wins by a mile! Great flavor and different than the usual pizza flavors. Regarding the size of the pie, one can totally be shared by two adults. Awful. We ordered 2 pizzas and bread sticks for $50 dollars. 1 hour and 20 minutes later their deliver driver arrives with bread sticks only. He said "Sorry, that's all they gave me. I'll have to call them and ask them where the pizzas are". My husband calls the restaurant to explain we only received the bread sticks and the girl on the phone said they could put our oder in again for the pizzas to be made, but wasn't sure how long it would take to get it to us. Or we could get a refund for just the pizzas. He asked for some sort of compensation since we would now have to wait additional hour or so for our food to arrive. She said he needed to talk to her manager. The manager answered the phone and said "sorry for the f**k up." As my husband asked how long it would take for new pizzas to arrive, another pizza driver showed up with 2 pizzas & bread sticks. We explained to the manager on the phone that our actual order had arrived. No compensation was needed, we have our order. The managers response was "enjoy your pizza" and hung up. They had no clue why or how we received 2 different deliveries. Our food was disgusting. Both pizzas were poorly made and awful quality. The pizza box states "it's not burnt - it's wood fire. black charring = flavor". Our pizzas were not charred, they were flimsy and barely cooked. The flavor was barely edible. (See pics) The whole experience was less than exceptional. Waste of time, and a waste of money. read more

Where on earth do I begin? This pizza was amazing. Perfectly cooked on every level. Steven the owner (Stephen??) was an absolute pleasure to order from. I literally asked "Do you own the place or just really love your job?" He said both He recommended two different beers one that pairs well with the pizza and one that pairs with the crust. (An IPA & a Pilsner.) I can't remember which was for what part because I drank both. (; I don't write reviews unless it's a five star experience. Mulberry is. I could probably order a pizza with stuff I don't even like on it & still eat it if this place made it. I have been eating, drinking, and playing trivia at Mullberry Station for a year. I go once or more a week and I find it to be a very friendly, happy place to go. They brew their own beer and serve wood fired pizza. I love their pizza and pasta bowls. Musical events are fun, inexpensive or free. Trivia every Wednesday at six is fair, presented with a power point set up. The host is the owner Roland. He is very funny and pick's interesting topics. The winner gets a 25 dollar gift card. Great pizza! We got the ricotta spinach Blanca pizza with fresh cut garlic. Their beer was good, I personally like hoppy beer but the stuff they had was flavorful nonetheless. The seating area is very spaced out and roomy. The only suggestion I have is to make sure there is somebody behind the bar that knows the beer. I totally get that these are trying times and you guys are doing great. However, my girlfriend has a food allergy and the person serving us beer could not give us any info about what was in the beer. We came in and got a half mozzarella half pepperhead and a pasta side. First bite of a mozzarella piece and it took my right back to New York! So so close in texture and in taste, I wasn't expecting that but I loved it. Pepperhead side just as good with the crunchy little pepperoni! Definitely will be back!
