We were looking for something affordable but also a family suite for a short trip to the Danbury area and we were pleasantly surprised when we found the Residence Inn. When we pulled up we were a bit unsure as the outside could use a little tlc. We entered the lobby and I found the front desk clerk to be a little unfriendly which also made me a little nervous. Then we entered our suite and we couldn't have been happier! A full kitchen, living room and two bedrooms each with their own bathroom. The suite as a whole couldn't be more perfect. I am not a big fan of most continental breakfasts but again we were quite surprised and the options and set up. Even waffles! The only cons we have are the room was not cleaned while we were out and I had requested someone look at the toilet as it runs nonstop and no one came. Neither of those cons would be enough to keep us from returning or going to another location! read more

The email I sent to the management of this hotel is below, but it suffices to say avoid this place at all cost. If they will treat a Titanium member this way, what will they do to the average traveler? Filthy room, TV didn't work, mattress was rock hard and pillow was way past its useful life. A broken mirror is a very real danger to those travelling with children, please be cautious. Also note that it's not visible thru the trees, but one side faces a highway and the noise is endless. Overall the rooms need to be remodeled, the exterior desperately needs a pressure washing and the breakfast looked inedible. Email to manager when asked for a review: I'm truly glad you asked. I spend 120+ nights per year in hotels and presently hold Titanium with Marriott and Diamond with Hilton. I routinely experience one or more problems with hotels about once a month, but this is one of the 2-3 times a year I feel the need to document the issue(s) in a formal complaint.  When I arrived at your property I arrived after dark, so I couldn't see the exterior of your property. Had I seen it, I would've immediately cancelled my stay due to my core belief- if you don't maintain the exterior, you don't maintain the interior. I'm attaching photos so that you can see things from my perspective. The dirt and rust on the exterior of your property leaves it looking more like a Motel 6 than a Marriott property. Even the sidewalk was littered with trash and dog feces.  Exhausted and traveling with my wife and son, we just wanted to sleep. The TV in the bedroom to the right of room 320 was not functional. Although the light was on, neither the remote nor the power button would turn it on. Your TV's are so old and poorly installed that it doesn't surprise me it didn't work. Frankly, I don't recall seeing TV's of that model in ANY Marriott in years and even then that small old model was usually found in the lower end chains of Marriott not Residence Inn.  We let him use the living room TV and went to bed. The overall cleanliness seemed ok, but the deodorizing spray smell was very heavy. It wasn't until we'd been in the room for a few hours that we realized it was used to mask the odor of marijuana smoke- a smell that become overpowering after we'd become nose-blind to the deodorizer. It wasn't until the next morning that the true condition of the room became apparent.  You'll notice the photos I took of areas like the track for the closet door, telephone and similar areas. This room was in dire need of a deep cleaning. Everywhere throughout the room there were deep ruts of dirt and grime that a simple brush and deep cleaning would erase. The overall condition of the room was poor, including furniture that was long past its lifespan and in poor condition. The mirror in the bedroom on the left was cracked- a serious safety concern for parents with small children.  The mattresses were rock hard and stained, the pillows were also extremely poor quality.  In closing, I only had one interaction with your staff when I asked for a business card for the manager. The woman who was present upon checkout at approximately noon looked at me and motioned to the card holder on the front desk, which I hadn't noticed. In my experience, properly trained staff will ask if there is something they can assist with before handing out a card. She didn't seem to notice or care, which is a great description for the condition of your hotel and likely indicative of its causation.  You wanted my opinion, you have received it. Your property will be added to a list of properties maintain by myself and coworkers, places to be avoided at all costs. I wish you the best, you have a monumental task ahead of you. read more

Decent place to stay. We used this as our hub, when we were moving out and prepping our home for sale. The studio setup with queen bed was spacious and allowed us to bring more than the typical 2 suitcases. It's definitely nice, for a longer stay. Rooms are a bit "older", but it wasn't a problem... unless one looks for pristine and high end. (We weren't.) The lobby was comfortable and the breakfast was pretty decent. The staff was pleasant, hard working and accommodating. COMPLIMENTARY water, sodas, as well as a few snack items and ice cream were a pleasant surprise. Would I stay here again? YES!!! read more

I enjoyed the breakfast that I took to go for the road after a comfortable stay with food, snacks and cozy suite after enjoying time exploring the Danbury Mall and spent time bowling at the Round 1 with the arcade, food and bar. My mom, sister and I really liked the hotel. I stayed in room 322 and mom and my sister got the two bedroom suite next door. It was spacious and extremely clean. I know that you can't please everybody and trying is next to impossible, but while I found the mattress to be rock hard, the first words out of mom's mouth was how much she loved the mattress and got the best night of sleep she's had in a hotel in ages. I have a pillow top mattress at home, so this isn't the hotel's fault. The other thing we loved was the check in experience in this sense. We couldn't help but mention that one of the things we were doing was going to singer Daryl Hall's restaurant/night club in Pawling, NY. Our check in clerk had absolutely no idea as to who Daryl Hall or Hall and Oates were whereas we've seen them play live five times. So the other check in clerk ( Rebecca ) starts belting out her rousing rendition of their classic " Rich Girl " trying to see if her fellow employee knew the song. He didn't, but to her credit, she showed a ton of personality and enthusiasm, which you don't necessarily get with a lot of people, especially when you deal with the public all day long. There was one downside to the hotel and that was we heard every horn honk, screeching tires and whatever else was going on outside the hotel. While I understand that a hotel can only do so much, it definitely needs more insulation or soundproofing as it can make it hard to fall asleep. Charged me for stay when I clearly cancelled within policy guidelines. Being a titanium elite member, most hotels will cancel without charge. When I called them about the charge, the man on the phone wouldn't connect me with a GM. His english was very bad but I got the gist of it. He said they will not refund because I didn't cancel soon enough. Even though when I cancelled, I called them and the person on the phone told me "no problem, due to my status, I won't be charged." My family of four stayed in two rooms at this Residence Inn by Marriott with our dog for 3 weeks due to our home being damaged. This was an extremely stressful time and I cannot express how thoughtful and kind the staff was to us. From the front end staff to the breakfast ladies everyone went above and beyond for us. The rooms were spotless, hallways vacuumed twice daily. If you put out dirty towels and called the front desk a bag of fresh towels was delivered within 10 minutes! The WiFi was great, noise levels were minimal, the pool was down for a week or so due to maintenance but not an issue for us. Once it was up and running it was a nice relaxing way to end the day. I would recommend this location to anyone with or without pets. Very pet friendly facility including doggie walk area and doggie cleanup bags with disposal area too. First off... The staff was amazing. Sergio the general manager was a real professional - kind - thorough and helpful. When we came down - he always asked us if everything was ok. Natalie the front desk associate was great as well. They delivered some requested towels with a smile and great attitude. The main lobby area was clean, the breakfast area was clean and on the newer side. The pool area was really worn - VERY WORN. The ceiling was bubbling from old paint, the tile, doors, the pool itself was in dire need of some updating. It felt sort of depressing and dirty. My room was clean - I'm surprised that Residence Inn suites only have queen beds - according to the front desk. That was a bit uncomfortable since I'm 6'5". The toilet was a complete mess with their "hard water" problem. It looked like the toilet was dirty - apparently it was due to the hard water. The toilet seats were very worn - Check out photo. We found our way here looking for a mid-trip stop on our route down 95. We booked a few hours before arriving. We usually stay at Residence Inns because they are pretty consistently clean and comfortable. There were lots of pros to this location. The biggest pro by far is that they have truly wonderful people working here. We were likely arriving after midnight, so called to let them know and updated as we hit a construction delay. The night staff were helpful, warm, and welcoming, ensuring everything was set for our late arrival. In the morning, the front desk clerk Brianna was helpful with a variety of little things we needed. Each time, she was warm, cheery, and embodied hospitality in ways that went above and beyond. Even the cleaning and maintenance staff went out of their way in the hallways to create a welcoming environment. The breakfast was solid. Good coffee, lots of choices like biscuits and gravy, waffles, eggs, sausage, oatmeal with lots of fixins, yogurt, fruit, cereals, breads and danishes, juices, hot chocolate, tea, etc. There is something for everyone. Kudos for an impressive number of delicious hot sauce options! It has a lovely indoor pool that made for a great little workout and lots of enjoyment for several kids that we saw there. The gym also seemed to have all the basics. The biggest drawback: the mattresses on both the bed and pull-out bed were the most uncomfortable we've ever encountered at a hotel. All the mattresses had springs poking up and seemed like they needed to be replaced a decade ago or more. They were far from the usual quality at the many other Residence Inns we have stayed. Our room was very clean, but showing signs of wear. The hotel felt quite dated and seems overdue for a renovation. That said, the lack of renovation probably explains why they have such wonderful old-school, high-flow shower heads that made for a delightful shower after a long drive. read more

Wow, really surprised by the low ratings here. My wife and I stayed here twice, about 3 years between visits, and were very satisfied. Rates are reasonable or better (maybe we got lucky), rooms are clean, modern, huge, and have separate living, dining, and kitchen areas--and kitchen has stove, cookware, cutlery, and full refrigerator. There are obviously better hotels out there, but at this price point, five stars is appropriate. read more

Room was dirty (produce sticker and tape on the wall, previous guest's trash on the floor, refridgerator and freezer smelled) Customer service was a 50/50 shot... when its good its good Hotel flooded when I was there. The rooms were very clean and the staff couldn't have been nicer. The bedding was very soft and the pillows were very plush. We all enjoyed the morning breakfast (if you are picky about your eggs, you might not be happy - but I love oatmeal, fruit and a muffin and it was all delicious. My children absolutely loved the waffles). I only had the opportunity to use the gym once, but it was clean and well-maintained. My best compliment is that you would never know that every room is pet-friendly. That is the reason we chose the hotel, as our dog is getting too old to leave at home. I would have expected at least a "hint" of a smell of a "pet accident" somewhere in the hotel, but that wasn't the case. The team here is very kind. The manager has hospitality in her blood and clearly loves her work. Not only a nice play to stay, but I felt like they really wanted our group to enjoy themselves. I found the bed comfortable, including the pillows. It has all you need for a week-long work trip or family outing and the team coordinates mixers with lite bites and wine during the week. We came here expecting an immaculate suite given both the price and the excellent reviews on all travel sites. While there is nothing overtly wrong with the hotel, excellent is definitely not the rating I would give it. To start, we only had two bath towels in our room (we are a family of three staying two nights) and when our son asked for extras he was told to reuse the ones we have. The room was not overtly dirty but was definitely not clean and in good repair. The sink is falling out from beneath the counter, there were several spiderwebs with spiders in them and the shower definitely needs an upgrade. I think our biggest complaint is the bed. It's listed as a queen but my husband and I sleep in a queen at home and this was definitely a full. For some positives, the free breakfast was plentiful (in to go bags, I'm guessing COVID related?), the pool was clean, heated, and quiet. Our room seemed to be located in a quiet area of the hotel so no crazy noises. And the kitchenette is a major plus for our family. I think a good scrubbing of all the rooms, a once over from a handyman, and some extra (plusher) towels would make all the difference here. read more

We would've asked for our money back if we didn't wind up staying here with a free certificate. This hotel badly needs an update. When we arrived in our room, we were immediately hit with that stale-hotel-smell, where it makes you feel like there used to be smokers there. Of the many problems at this hotel, our kitchenette garbage can had the previous guests' trash in it, and the shower stall had an enormous crack in the wall. Also, the shower head was broken and barely attached to the wall. Beds were worn out and the sheets were old and frayed at the edges. A decent standard continental breakfast and a new TV in the room were the only positives we found at this hotel. We would definitely recommend staying elsewhere near Danbury. read more

The whole property is kind of worn down and not what I expect from a Marriott. My room had a window unit because the room A/C was broken. But it was installed loosely so as to let in bugs and noise. Killed 6 or 7 stink bugs crawling in the room. Freeway noise nonstop. Woke in the middle of the night to jackhammering on the freeway. Of course nobody told me when I checked in that I was paying full price for a substandard room. read more

This Place Is DISGUSTING!!!! I will never stay here in this filth again. The first review was written by an employee and updated by Employee. Manager Mary Kay screamed at me and hung up on me when I called in A formal complaint and had her other employee Hailey do the same. Very unprofessional. The housekeeping are rude and stole from my room. Dont leave anything of value I this disgusting place. Mary Kay did nothing to help when I complained to her. She blamed me and hung up. I called back and she belittled me about the items missing, acting as if I never had them. I filed a police report. They are under investigation. It's also flat out filthy, Stained sheets... A lot of little problems add up to make this hotel an unpleasant place to stay at. The rooms themselves are very nice but the sub par service really takes away from the whole experience of staying here. The staff is completely unhelpful. The maids do not replace toilet paper, soap or shampoo after cleaning and even took the trash can away. Landscapers will wake you at 7am sharp Monday morning directly outside your window. The jacuzzi is broken and the pool is not as clean as it should be. With all these problems though it is sad to say this is probably one of the nicer hotels in Danbury. read more

We stayed 8/3/12 weekend for one night; 2x 1 bedroom rooms (not studio) To premise, I always have very high expectations for the Marriot Residence Inn brand. I've never been this disappointed at a Residence Inn experience before. Cons: -Older location- it becomes blatantly obvious when you see the rooms -Pool area looks old and gross. Jacuzzi/Pool look like they need a fresh coat of paint. -When we visited the pool, there was no one at the pool, but there were several used towels strewn about. There were exactly 4 fresh towels left. Whether the mess was due to inattentive staff or obnoxious patrons is beyond me. I'd lean towards the latter. 20 minutes after we walked in, a staffmember walked by poked his head in and told us to expect new towels in 5 mins. Unfortunately, 10 mins later a whole gaggle of rowdy children descended on the scene ruining both the pool/jacuzzi experience. -Breakfast lacked variety- Fewer fresh fruits and toppings than other experiences at Residence Inns. -Breakfast area did not have sufficient tables -We had the experience/expectation of having 4 burners on our stove and an oven. This Residence provided 2 meager stove tops and no oven. Nowhere in the booking details do they differentiate rooms on this level. Pros: -While the front desk staff are out smoking or looking disinterested the majority of the time, when they were wrangled, they were helpful. For example, in light of not having the stove we expected, they let us use the stove in their breakfast kitchen. -Using the rest of the hotel as a baseline, I suspect they recently renovated the reception area/dining room read more

We stayed for one night on the 29th. Hotel looks like it's been renovated. Carpets look new all through the hallways and (at least) our room. Room was great. Had a fireplace---was not expecting that. Everything worked (no burnt out bulbs!) and was very clean. Thermostat looked new, and actually worked, too. I think this is the first bathroom with lights arranged so that one can actually apply makeup by it. Breakfast was standard, but good. Make-your-own waffles, fresh-cooked oatmeal, eggs, sausage, tater tots, breads, cream cheese, sour cream, some cut fruit and fresh fruit. Variety of cereals. My only complaint was that there was no real butter. Desk clerks were attentive and fine. I can't understand why the reviews were so horrible, but maybe, as I mentioned, the hotel has been renovated. And, it's next to Chuck's Steakhouse, a family favorite. We will definitely come back. read more

My extended family recently had a last-minute need for 16-18 rooms. Briana and Jennifer gave hours of their time, including days off, to get our rooms arranged, deal with the juggling of arrival and departure changes due to weather and make us feel very cared for during a difficult time. The entire staff was amazing and accommodating, allowing us to be together in the lounge area for several family meals. With dozens of people to keep happy, they exceeded our expectations. I'm on the lower level across from the housekeeping staff lounge. The highway noise is nothing compared to the yapping LOUD constant Spanish. Not s big deal unless your here for three weeks. Housekeeping also has no consistency. One day they show up 8am, the next they come at 3 pm. Also not a big deal unless you are trying to work. I've asked two different people at the front desk if housekeeping can come between certain hours. I've been blown off by both. This is the most disruptive place to try to live and work out of for any lengthy period. Run from it. read more

No!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! SPIDER INFESTED!!!! This place when you first arrive seems clean... Anyone can take photos when an establishment first opens. But that's about the only thing nice about this place. Not only is the decour extremely dated, staff unhelpful, and the place filthy. Clearly housekeeping is unable to clean properly and were sitting around chatting and smoking in guest areas rather then actually maintaining their rooms. There is a residual smell of wet animal thru out the halls and the windows, door, mirrors and appliances and elevators all had streak marks... The rugs in the room were frayed... Trim was missing from the floors... A danger if you decide to kick your shoes off and relax... There couch had actual Dirt on it. And there was not a single piece of furniture in the room that was not completely scratched and dinged up!!! If you don't feel welcomed enough by now... Surely the GIANT SPIDERS in the shower and in the folded towels won't help. Seriously terrifying!!!!! The Wifi and cable went in and out on it's own. The food was inedible. This hotel is very conveniently situated to the mall. The front desk clerk was very courteous. Right away she found a room for me I brought my baby and was in need of a crib unfortunately the crib they provided was actually a playpen and much too deep for my baby to sleep . when I arrived in the room I felt like the decorators spent a really good time laying out all of the features. I found the space to be very inviting up to date and comfortable the artwork on the walls was breathtaking one of the best layouts I've ever seen at a residence Inn. I also liked how their breakfast in the hearth room was from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. unlike many other locations that start at about 6 a.m. and end at 9. I gave the space four stars because of the playpen instead of having a crib for the baby and also because my room was very very far away from the parking area which I thought was very inconvenient with the carrier and all the things I needed to bring from the car for my baby. In retrospect I think they put me far away because I had a small baby and didn't want any crying to disturb other guests. But it was still inconvenient to the single lady traveling at night. Hats off to the hearth room team. They kept the area nice and clean and all of the food was filled. (Sidebar) I just think that the Marriott should upgrade what they offer in their continental breakfast now thats more hotels are trying to match them... it but could be a better quality of offerings. I called to make a reservation and was on hold for over an hour so I hung up and called back and the receptionist repeatedly interrupted me, talked over me, and argued with me telling me I must have called a different number not that hotel. Then in the middle of me still talking she transferred me over to the same system where I was on hold for another hour so I hung up and got a reservation at a different hotel. Though my children were both sleeping, we were disrupted by a phone call saying that complaints had been made and that I should ask them to stop jumping and "keep it down".
