As the saying goes, in the land of the blind, one eyed man is king. What's that got to do with a hotel? Well, it's not a great hotel but it's likely your best bet nearby. On a recent visit, I arrived after 10pm to find the front door locked and no one at the front desk. A buzzer solved both of those issues. I had pre-checked in on the Bonvoy app so didn't worry about them giving away my room. I hadn't had a chance to eat dinner but knew they didn't have an on-site restaurant. Was hoping to buy a snack but they were out of everything but candy bars. No beers either and a single bottle of water. I was on the second floor in a building in the back. Not too far of a walk but you have to carry your luggage up a flight of stairs. My initial impression was the room looked dated -- sad carpet that could use a cleaning. It's big though -- the kitchen and family room especially. I only stayed two nights but understand how you could make it comfortable for longer. This is essentially an apartment. Except they apparently don't believe in trash cans. None in the bathroom, bedroom or living room. Found one under the sink in the kitchen. Odd. The bathroom sink drained slowly -- several mins before it emptied completely. On the plus side, the shower had good water pressure and got hot quickly. The complementary morning breakfast hit the spot -- both cold and hot options. Wish there was some fruit. Both hotel workers I interacted were friendly and helpful. Verdict? I have never found a better option nearby. Let me know if you do. read more

More apartment than hotel. The rooms all have doors that open outside and they're spacious...even more so than most residence inn. My room had a nice desk work space, small kitchen area, bedroom area, big bathroom sink and closet all tied together by an open living room area. The set up is ideal for a business trip working from the room and long term stays. There's a chick Fil a next door! It's an older building, but it was exceptionally clean. Seriously Marriott. We called and asked if there was an outdoor pool. They said yes. I guess we should have asked if it was open. We are not told it was closed. Due to COVID..., what BS and poor customer communication. Additional comments from the stay... . This place appears to have fallen on some hard times- either change in management, can't hire staff or something. The pool is closed due to covid, but cleaning the rooms must be optional now between guests. Floor had stuff all over it and there was a Cook out milk shake container in the trash when we checked in. There is no ice maker on site but usually there is an ice machine with the fridge... they installed a refrigerator with no ice make... but you can go get ice at the front desk. Lastly, all of the sidewalk lights are out at night between the building.. the bollard style near the ground.. and one of the overhead sidewalk lights goes on and off. They also have a trash issue. Both mornings we were there, trash was seen on the sidewalks and in the parking lot.. and it stayed there close to 24 hours. We stay here usually twice a year and this was by far the worst experience to date. Not sure what is going on here, but i hope it gets fixed as it is a great location. read more

I've never stayed in a Marriott where the doors to the rooms were on the outside like an apartment building. It was a little confusing to find my room after checking in, even though the guy at the desk pointed in the general direction I needed to go to. My room was quite large and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very small, and there was mold on the vent and on the wall near the vent. My showerhead had a leak or something so water sprayed directly up to hit the ceiling, as well as out onto the floor. Breakfast was decent, I was able to get some hot oatmeal, individually wrapped brand name cereal, and a banana. The coffee was just ok, but drinkable if you added a lot of creamer. read more

The location to RTP is fantastic and it's centrally located to Durham and Raleigh. Honestly, that's about all it's got going for the place and why I gave it two stars. Pros: Location Price Free WiFi Cons: Clearly the place was a converted apartment complex, layout is funky The place is filthy - the rooms doors are disgusting, they doors don't even close - carpet has stains Kitchen sink barely could get warm water Room really had a bad odor when we first got in Bathroom in breakfast area is completely unkept with toilet paper all over the place There is no lighting in the place, makes room very dark The place needs a huge upgrade, for the $50 savings, I would look elsewhere. read more

We thought we would try out this Residence Inn by Marriott for our Christmas trip to Durham, NC this year. I thought it might be a small but worthwhile Christmas upgrade. I have to admit the suite that we booked was well appointed. However, it had a faint odor that I can only describe as body odor. The whole purpose of getting a hotel room was to get a good night's sleep but the bed in our room was so hard and uncomfortable that we never could get comfortable. To make matters worse, in the wee hours of the morning, it sounded like a herd of elephants was pacing around in the room above us. Not even out white noise machine could drown out the sound. The room does come with breakfast, but the food on the breakfast bar was barely warm. All in all this was a disappointing experience. read more

There are surely nicer areas in the triangle, but I still stay in this Residence Inn, when I come to RTP. You stay in a small apartment, consisting of a living room with kitchenette and one or two separate bed rooms. When I usually come there for 9 or 10 days at a time, this feels much more like coming to a "home" than a typical hotel room. The personnel is always very friendly and helpful and makes one feel welcome. Walgreens, Starbucks, Food Lion are in walking distance, the very nice Streets at Southpoint mall is just a few miles away and if you need to go further, the hotel is conveniently located next to routes 54 and 55 and to I-40. I have been there by myself on various business trips as well as with my family on vacation. I can wholeheartedly recommend this Residence Inn. read more

I have been traveling weekly for work for the past 13 years to a variety of rural and urban places, both domestically and international. I have never stayed at a worse hotel. My room seemed fine at first. Not updated, but okay. The dishwasher wasn't unloaded from the previous guest, so when I went to get a glass out of it, three cockroaches popped out at me. Okay, fine, it is the south and the ground floor. The next morning, I woke up to a flooded bathroom floor, so bad that the carpet in the room was soaked. When I went to the front desk to ask for towels to lay on the ground so that I could shower without stepping in it, no one was to be found 10 minutes at the front desk and then continued to call when I got back to my room, to no avail. Finally, I get in the shower to find someone else's hair still sticking to the shower walls. I ask for a new room and they promise that evening that I will get a clean one. The room provided smelt terribly of cigarette smoke. On to my third room, it looked cleaned. However, again, I find someone's hair all over my bathroom towels. For 13 years, I have been traveling to very different destinations with not high expectations of hotels. All I need is a clean bed and a clean room. This hotel is unacceptable. read more

I would say I enjoyed most of our stay in this location during our quick business trip in North Carolina. Pros: - We've got an upgrade to a two bedroom suite which is very awesome! - Room has a built in kitchen...it means you can cook if you like, you can warm your food at the stove and a real home fridge is very nice additional. - Free breakfast! Just be patient enough to wait for your turn to make your own waffle. - They have a laundry service and coin laundry machine too. - Friendly staff. - We ordered pizza from Dominoes and they delivered it to our room! Now for the cons: (if I didn't experience this, probably I can give them at least four stars) - First, the room service. It will only happen if you will ask for it. Our first day of stay, nobody came to clean or at least straighten the bed. Or refill the shampoo, soap, and conditioner. Second day, same thing. Third day, she arrived like late in the afternoon. She knocked on the door and politely asked if we want a room service or need anything...hmmm. Same thing, the next day. So, we just nod our head and smile. - Second, it was Monday morning. I was in an important business call. I heard a loud knock at the door. I tried to ignore it, but it gets louder and louder as if someone wanted to smash and destroy our door. It's kinda scary and I wouldn't open it, but they won't stop. Even the person that I'm talking to over the phone asked, 'what's that loud knocking on your door?' Even I hide in the bedroom or bathroom, I can hear it and it's very alarming! I opened the door and I saw a group of gentlemen wearing a suit. When I asked why, they said they have to replace the bible in the drawer. I was like, 'What!!!?' I would argue more but the phone call I had that time was REALLY important. So, I grabbed the bible and pointed to them that I was on phone. I smiled, I was polite and nice. Then I closed the door. Few minutes later, I was on a conference call that time....same thing again. They are knocking at the door once more. I ignored it but I can't concentrate on the conference call. Funny thing, they never stop knocking even I ignored them. So I have to open that door. When I did, they will hand me their business card and it seems like they wanted to have some conversation. Spare me! I pointed out that I was on the phone and told them it's REALLY important. Then I closed the door. Like, really? Eventually they stop because I saw them doing the same thing on other room when I looked at the window. Is this really necessary? I wonder why the hotel management gave them a permission. Never experienced such thing while staying in a nice hotel. Eh, I'm glad at least I was wearing something decent during that time. read more

I enjoyed my stay here with my family. It's in a good location and easy access to the freeways to help you get around to Durham, Raleigh, Cary..etc. The staff here was really polite and always quick to answer our requests for extra blankets and such. Our room was clean and spacious as most Residence Inns are; I liked that the kitchenette was upgraded and had nice appliances. The free breakfast every morning always had something different but also your usual breakfast foods. This was definitely a great Residence Inn and another perk is that it's right across Chik-Fil-A, yum! A lot of other restaurants and strip malls are on the street right outside the hotel also. If you need a place to stay in the Durham area, this is a good option! read more

This is a decent extended-stay property near RTP. Parking is limited. The food options nearby are good for the area. The night security guard sits at the computer and plays Doom or something all night. Pretty funny. All in all one of the best options in the RTP area. read more

I am a frequent traveler as I travel for work, school, and pleasure. Keeping in mind that this is NOT a full service hotel, I'm pleasantly overwhelmed with the awesome customer service. As early as my first stay, I was warmly greeted by Ken at the front desk and told that I was upgraded due to my platinum elite status. The room was clean and well equipped with a kitchen and even a fireplace! The basic Internet is also free. After my second stay, the hotel reached out to ask if there is anything they can do to help make my frequent stays more enjoyable. For me the simple thing of having the same room and sometimes early check in and late check out make the world of difference. This hotel is able to accommodate these special requests about 75% of the time, not too shabby. I will acknowledge the fact that there have been some minor issues with my stays such as the hot water going out and the printer not working, but both issues were rapidly addressed by the hotel. I couldn't have been more satisfied with the way the hotel acknowledge and fixed the issues while offering short term workarounds. Highlights include: -Large rooms -Small workout room -FREE Internet and Breakfast -Great Staff -Seasonal Pool -Basket ball court -5 min drive to large shopping area -Easy access to the highway Overall, I look forward to my biweekly stays and pay more to stay here in comparison to other nearby hotels because the staff is so awesome! read more

Wife and I stayed here for daughter's commencement at Chapel Hill. Great suite, clean, with a basketball court, washer/dryer room, swimming pool, fitness room, business center, GREAT BREAKFAST, courteous staff, BIG FLAT SCREEN in lobby! The rooms/suites are very nice with a frig, stove (no oven), glassware, silverware, microwave, a kitchen nook. Comfy beds, flat screen tv, soft white towels, It really is a great place to stay! Spent a week here for work. Everything about this place was awesome! Enjoyed the jr. queen suite - spacious, clean and very relaxing. Love the kitchenette and the fact the hotel will do your grocery shopping for free. Great feature! There was an evening happy hour but I never had a chance to attend. The breakfast in the morning was great with lots of options. Loved the whole fruit to go. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The parking lot gets very full and parking directly in front of your building can be a challenge in the evening. I had asked and received a top floor room. No elevators but only two story buildings. Very quite! This location was very convenient and close to freeways. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

We came here for the weekend for a university graduation event. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. It is set back from the main road so it did not feel noisy either. There are several places close by for food, including a chick-fil-a within walking distance. The location offers easy accessibility to Durham or Raleigh, and all needed amenities are close to the hotel. The staff was helpful with routine processes, although we did not have any special needs. The best part about staying here was the staff. Beyond friendly and accommodating. I was there for 3 weeks so quite a long stay and the chef as well as front desk staff were so friendly and made my stay less lonely. I really enjoyed the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday night mixers they had in the lobby. It was nice to see familiar faces at night and new faces as well and to chat with other guests. The rooms are fair. They are cleaned and well maintained but nothing fancy. It was very helpful to have a refrigerator with freezer to store food for the week as well as a burner to cook. Some of the rooms do have ovens but not all and some also have real wood burning fire places which is pretty amazing. read more

Great hotel! I love staying here, the price is just right! They're in a great location, not too far off I-40, and right across the street from chick fil a. They don't have the typical 2 bedroom lofts, they're regular 2 bedrooms. Love the regular rooms when traveling with the kids. The have laundry facilities, pool, 24 hour workout room, decent breakfast of hot and cold foods, and Mon-Thurs have a reception of various foods. They're only 15 min away from the airport but font offer a shuttle. read more

Moved to the area and stayed here for a while searching for a permanent residence. Overall hotel is spotless and the staff is over accommodating. I was on the bottom floor, and the person checked in directly above me decided to do p90x everyday at 6am. The GM Beth took care of the problem and switched me rooms without any issues. This was my first choice hotel wise. Around 1230 we received a noise complaint, with no further warning and were told we had 10 minutes to leave the hotel. I proceeded to the front office where i received terrible customer service from Lamesha. We were already pre-warned by the security guard Laurence of her attitude. We still walked in with a positive attitude on the situation even though we were warned. As we were walking into the front office area where Ms. Lamesha was located, she was shaking her head, before we could ask her a question she said we had 10 minutes because we signed a paper upon check in and that she had already checked us out. I asked her why she didn't call first and she proceeded to tell me we signed a paper that 4 people could only be in the room, there were 5 including our parents, who were on their way out when the security guard arrived. Also, a man wanted to be let in the office during our conversation and she proceeded to tell me I had to leave even though she hadn't finished our conversation. She was not a good guest service agent - perhaps the rudest one I have ever encountered as she wouldn't even let me speak without her having something to say towards it. I was extremely nice as well as compliant that she wanted me to leave. I just further wanted an explanation as to why she didn't have a good attitude working in a customer service field. Mr Laurence during and afterwards was trying to explain that she was not a very nice person or even cared about our stay. Further more I expect better from the Marriott name as I am a frequent stayer and needed somewhere to stay for the holidays. I was in town visiting family from service that I haven't seen in a few months. I hope Marriott would do something about this stay due to their discernment of their staff. read more

Unfortunately I stayed here during the hurricane. The hotel was clean but services were very limited. There was no communication to guest about rooms not being cleaned, no clean towels or even where to o take garbage. Breakfast was nice and woman who managed it to as very sweet. I was able to check out early but still charge for the room. There was no penalty so I was told by the front desk. Later when I called Expedia to verify my refund I was told I should have called Expedia this o check out? They have a bad. Refund policy FYI. If I out leave early you will be charged like I was even if you were told by the front desk otherwise! read more

I don't know what was wrong with the hotel during my visit, as my experience was different than that of others. I was at a class all day, came back at 5:30, and housekeeping hadn't touched my room yet! I also had to kill a number of bugs flying around in the room. It was one of those hotel rooms where I didn't feel comfortable walking around my room without shoes on. read more

WOW! Fantastic service, we loved the built in kitchen. They'd even do grocery shopping for you! Awesome and Free Wifi access...We felt very safe with a security guard patrolling at night. Breakfast in the morning is delicious! Loved the homemade waffle iron...and free dinner Monday-Wednesdays. Small but nice fitness room available, a pool and strip mall in walking distance. We had a great stay. The hotel has a lot of great features including a nice clean pool, tennis and basketball courts and free breakfast each morning. 3 nights of the week they have a free small supper. Our room was clean and well kept and I liked all the space it provided. Mike and Tawanda at the front desk were super nice and helpful. Our housekeeper Nancy was nice and very efficient. The only thing I didn't like was that the residents above us were very loud, which is why I couldn't give a 5-star review. I think the hotel may have thin insulation between floors. read more
