This was our first time staying here at the Even Hotel in Norwalk, CT. Staff was friendly, accommodating and the room was very nice. Roomy, clean and spacious. Our experience was mostly positive with the exception of just a couple of areas that could use some improvements. Lower cover sheet for the bed could use a new cover. Looked pretty beat up (see photo). Door to bathroom needs some lubricant to fully close. Doesn't close fully and this room doesn't have dressers to store your clothes. However overall stay went well and we would definitely stay again.

Great hotel!! Very impressive!! Surprised they had tension ropes, resistance bands, exercise ball, yoga mat, and so much more. I loved it! Bed was very comfortable. Smart tv offers free exercise instructor. They want you not to skip your workout routine because your staying here. They want you to feel free to continue your routine as if you were at home. It was pretty impressive. I enjoyed it. I would like to turn portion of my bedroom at home to a lite workout area. Bathroom is gorgeous. It's well kept and cleaned. Bed is comfy and it smells good. Feels like a dorm room. Desk chair is modern. Front desk Ladies are super friendly. Liked that bike rentals are available even in the winter. I would definitely stay here again.

Looks are deceiving. Infested with bedbugs. Switched rooms 4 times and each room had bedbugs. The rooms are not very clean either. Towels are dirty. My guess, they are probably selling it. A Handful of staff are helpful. Needs better management. STAY AWAY

Love the concept of this hotel! All the rooms had workout equipment, such as an exercise ball, tension ropes, yoga mat and a few more thing! There is a channel on the TV dedicated to showing you workouts to do with the given equipment as well! The gym is also open 24/7. The lobby was probably my favorite! They had a unique set up of tables, chairs, which made for a great, modern work space. There was food and drinks available for purchase via a self checkout tablet which was a nice amenity. There was also a great outdoor patio space and they lit the fire pit every night. The hotel was very clean, well maintained and the staff was super friendly! The room was the perfect space and very comfortable. I was greeted by each staff member every time I walked by! Really such a great place and I will definitely look to stay at more EVEN hotels in the future!

    And even more

DO NOT STAY!!!! We checked in, looks nice from the outside and somewhat when you enter in. The front desk lets you know nothing is complementary besides coffee. You are given keys per usual and my family of four headed up. As we entered the elevator it took us up to level two, we entered the halls and I felt the heebie-jeebies as the carpets were completely stained! I'm serious! Absolutely every step we took was stains like animal urine. We entered our room and the stains continued! I want to pause and say the IDEA of this hotel is nice, I am a fitness lover and health freak and the idea of having a little fitness area in my own space was awesome! My husband was super thoughtful to think of this for me, but I just couldn't get over the filth. There were crumbs on the carpet next to the fridge, dented and scratched up walls, a brown stain on one mattress (yes I deep check the mattress), falling apart toilets in two rooms, all showers needed caulk, brown junk on the fitness floor behind the sliding bathroom door on the last room we checked into and more! Truly, though, it was the severely spotted and stained up carpets in the room and halls that I just couldn't handle. We went through FOUR ROOMS!!! They do allow animals but I can't imagine all these stains being from animals, but maybe! It was just soo uncomfortable for me and really run down! I clean offices for a living, myself and this is not up to par! I will say the bed was clean and though I like to have a mattress protector fully covering the bed, they did have a very warn out somewhat protector over just the top of the beds then the sheets. I didn't see bugs thankfully, but that doesn't mean there weren't microscopic organisms from the animals being allowed in the hotels, in the carpets (sorry coming from a ex vet tech of 10 years). Don't waste your money if you are picky like me! We wasted SOOOO much time here switching rooms, just to end up making the 2 hour drive home to sleep in our own beds. We had visited Legoland all day and wanted to stay close to the zoo and aquarium for another day out, but holiday inn wouldn't help one of their HOLIDAY INN OWNERS, so we went home! We were better off! Unfortunately I didn't take photos of the rooms, so you will just have to trust me!

He was always helpful when we had a question and took his time with us. Never made us feel like we were unimportant. The grounds were well maintained and kept up. Always saw staff maintaining the property. The property had a small private beach with overlook to rocky bluff. The hotel also has spa services for those who want to indulge in a facial or massage. On select Fridays the restaurant has a wine tasting and Al's hosts larger events. Lunch and dinner we sat outside on the covered patio with a beautiful view of the sound. Sydney was friendly and accommodating at dinner. The manager Anthony took good care of us at dinner for substitutions due to food intolerances. The food was excellent we had the short rib and steak frits with a beautifully paired Bordeaux. Lunch we had the crab cakes, house salad and smash burger. Our stay was just what we needed to relax and unwind. A definite revisit in the future.

This was a birthday treat for my friend. But we were seated at a nice table and the host said there was plenty of room. The waiter was great. Took our beverage order and invited us to browse the brunch. Before we got up the host returned and asked if our seating was okay because we were near an outside door. We said it was fine, didn't bother us at all. When we returned from the brunch offerings, the waiter asked us if we were comfortable and if everything was okay. Yes, it was fine! Just as we began to eat, another man came over and asked if everything was going well. Sure, we said. Then he said we would need to be moved to another table because they were expecting a large crowd. Seriously? So, our plates were picked up and off we went. He told us to wait until the table was cleaned off despite another table right next to it being all set up. Now things aren't so fine as the food is getting lukewarm and I feel like I'm disappointing my friend. Fortunately, the food was excellent, and we were able to go back to replenish our plates. We paid the bill and as we were leaving, we saw the original space where we sat was still empty. No big crowd. Waters edge needs to dot their I's and cross their T's and communicate among themselves much better than they did today. An excellent restaurant might've offered to comp the one Bellini I had. The food and waitering was quite good. Otherwise, the attitude and approach was subpar.

It is a hidden gem for people who are looking for a simple beach getaway. *** There is nothing fancy about this place except that it's ON the beach. So if you looking for a top of the line award wining resort, this isn't it. *** That said... The cabins are nicely sized and clean but are slightly dated and worn(wood floors have been loved etc). WiFi wasn't great, we definitely used some cellular and personal hotspot etc BUT you won't find a place on Long Island where you can get two bedrooms, a full bath, full eat in kitchen, living room and covered deck off the side of the cabin for the price you will pay here. There's common areas for BBQing and then you bring your food back to your room/cabin, or you can cook in the kitchen but who wants to do that at the beach LOL. There is also free snacks and beverages in the lobby for guests pretty much 24 hrs. Free simple bf foods like muffins, etc in the mornings too. They have day beds and hammocks on the backyard lawn but the entire point of staying here is that when you go up and over the stairs you're on the beach. They have beach chairs or you can bring your own. We brought a wagon and my husband was able to walk around the side to bring everything over instead of lugging your stuff up and over. Kid friendly, dog friendly quiet area of the beach. We got one rainy day and drove into river head for the aquarium and stopped in Mattituck on the way back to the resort for Magic Fountain HomemadeIce Cream. The kids (7&4 yo boys) didn't want to leave and have asked to come back every yr.

There is a nice, cool, pool that the kids absolutely loved playing in. The campground is also pet friendly as long as you are in an RV or at a campsite. They don't allow pets in the cabin. That wasn't an issue for us this time, but it's something to consider if you are planning on traveling with pets. The cabins themselves are fine. Nothing extraordinary and nothing to nitpick about the structure. We only had a few issues. The first was with the AC. It was set to the lowest temperature, and it still couldn't keep the room cool. Granted, we came during a heat wave, so it's probably not so bad when it's just in the 80s or lower and the humidity isn't so high. The other issue was the mattresses on the bed. They were like prison mats. So uncomfortable, and even a two inch mattress topper didn't help. If you're a young person, then it probably isn't such a major problem, but if you are over 40 or have back pain, then you definitely want to avoid these cabins or plan to bring something that may help to make it more comfortable. The last issue is the cost. We stayed for two nights, and it cost over $300. My wife booked the cabin without my knowledge, so we were stuck with it, but for that price we could have stayed in a really nice hotel with amenities and towels and all of the things that are typically provided. In these cabins, there is toilet paper, a bath mat, and a couple of trash bags. You have to bring all of your own linens and towels. You also need to bring all of your own toiletries. And if you want coffee in the morning, either plan to bring a small machine and your own coffee, or you can take a 10-15 minute trip into one of the nearby towns. So, for the price and all things considered, I would not recommend booking a cabin here. The RV and campsites seem fine, and our in-laws paid a little less than half of what we paid for their RV site, so I would recommend it for that purpose.
