    Feeling embarrassed but super special

Living less than 10 minutes away, I can't believe how many decades it has taken to "discover" this delicious gem that has quickly become a family favorite with my in laws. The service always impeccable, the intimate and dark wood paneled bar area just so cozy - can't wait to come when a light snow is falling through the huge windows ... The food was pretty spectacular in May but our most recent visit it was clear that it got even better! The white cosmo is my fave and of course that bread & butter service (our Eastern Euro roots make this a very important part of the meal haha) MIL and I have split the Caesar salad to start - always perfection. Lobster bisque, arancini special and especially that sumptuous mushroom vol a vent just melted in your mouth. Now onto the main event: That duck just gets better every single time - I can't believe I devoured the entire plate, grabbed that leg with both hands and went to town on the best crispy skin EVER!! Everyone's else dishes were delightful I'm told but I was too busy with my head down in my fowl ha! Butterscotch pudding to end my birthday meal just took me right into food coma land. Still dreaming about that ...

The Inn is in the middle of renovations. We weren't even sure it was open when we pulled up. Not many associates working there. Rooms are dated and not worth the price. Do t unless you have to.

Food 5/10 Ordered a lot of food, but the duck was a bit dry. Oysters were very much just okay. The bok choy helped lighten my meal, but otherwise it overall was just an "okay" meal. Atmosphere 8/10 A typical inn restaurant, white linen clothes and tables. A little on the formal side. The bathroom was very interesting with its butterfly wallpaper. Service 8/10 Good service.

We spent three nights at this historic New England inn which was renovated in 1998. The inn is lovely with beautiful landscaping, patio, and covered decks. We thoroughly enjoyed the food as well. The rooms in the inn were fine but could use a bit of a refreshing. The inn is centrally located in New Canaan, close to the center of the village.

Came for dinner and had a pleasant experience but I wouldn't make a trip back just for this place. I had the "French 75" cocktail which was good but nothing spectacular. The lobster bisque was also good but a little too creamy in my opinion and the deviled eggs tasty but it seems a little crazy to pay $15 for 4 halves of an egg. I ordered the veal entree and I would definitely recommend it. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. The service was good and the ambiance was nice but the environment of the customers was a little strange. Nothing the restaurant can do but felt very 'posh.' My brother ordered the creme brûlée which was alright but not my favorite. Overall I liked the food and the staff were very nice. It is definitely pricy but that would be expected for the kind of restaurant and location.

We stayed there for a couple nights, and I can only comment on the inn, but not the restaurant. I think that the inn is a second-class citizen at this operation renovated 30 years earlier, it looks dated and tired. we stayed in the "cottage" building and it smelled very of a very-old carpet when we entered. The technology dated from 1998 very poor Wi-Fi and Blasi, cable, channels, etc. the furniture was tired and worn. I didn't stay at the restaurant though we were impressed with the amount of people that they had there on Friday and Saturday nights. the food must be good. Unfortunately I would not stay here, but might come back for the Dining

The service could not have been better, the food more delicious, the setting more elegant, and the occasion more important and wonderful. My nephew and his lovely bride chose this place for gathering after their wedding ceremony and the occasion could not have been better presented. First time back here after many years it's every bit as fine as I remember!

Will not let us cancel our reservation 10 days prior!! Disappointing as we cannot travel now and need to cancel well in advance.

Walking distance to shops and restaurants and bars and Target and movie theater too! Rooms are decent size (I was in a deluxe king), plenty of space between foot of the bed and the TV. Bathroom is on the smaller size, and little counter space as well. The hallways are also a bit narrow (reminds me of NYC hotels) but nothing problematic. Nespresso pods are restocked every day, mini fridge is a nice small size for sodas and wines. Note that ice machines are only on floors 4 and 7. A few reviews mentioned walls being thin; I didn't experience loud noises at all. I heard a few voices in the hallway occasionally, but nothing late into the night. Pillows are nice and firm, and bed was comfy. Staff is always great; Samuel at the front desk checked me in back in July and he helped me again this past week. Housekeeping also very nicely left me a new cleaning wipe next to my glasses (I didn't even ask for them!), v cute with the Lloyd logo on it. I like that this property is on the smaller side, so if you prefer to not be with huge crowds like at nearby larger chains, this is the place for you.
