Long story short, I stayed here for a week and overall the hotel accomplished what it needed to. This is definitely not somewhere I'd go out of my way to stay, but it does serve its purpose if you need something affordable and centrally located. The overall feel of the property to me is kind of dark and worn, maybe even a little bit grimy. There was more than one occasion where the flooring in the main areas was kind of sticky and you don't know if that's because someone spilled something or because the cleaning staff doesn't know how to mop well. Also to be fair, I was rarely here during daylight hours as I was busy so the majority of my time here was early morning or evening. The suite itself was fine, nothing fancy, but there was plenty of room. The space is definitely usable and there's a little kitchenette and a desk that I was able to work at. There is also a large couch. The space with the bed in it was probably my favorite as it had good windows and lighting in that area. I was glad for the kitchenette because even though I was there for a week, I never actually tried the breakfast that they offered. They had a a laundromat area with washers and dryers which is good for somebody staying longer like me, but I ultimately didn't use it because there was just kind of a creepy vibe and I didn't want to be sitting there for hours waiting on my laundry and I didn't feel super safe leaving it and going back to my room. If you need to wash your clothes, it is really nice to have it there on site though so you don't have to go to a laundromat. They also have a pool and hot tub on site, which initially seemed like a nice bonus and something I definitely packed for and planned to use. Unfortunately, they weren't really usable during my stay. I did go out to the area twice but there were tons of crickets and bugs all over. On the cement and in the pool in the hot tub and it just didn't feel clean. I definitely felt like they neglected this area and it was the only relaxing feature I was looking forward to. So I was quite disappointed because I just didn't feel comfortable using the facilities. The price was decent, the parking was easy and ample, and it didn't take me long to get to the places that I needed to go. I don't know if I would stay here again; I would probably try something else in the area but for all the negatives, it still got the basic job done. read more

Perfect location. Clean facility, friendly staff and a convenient shuttle available for guest. In town for the chris brown concert and this place was not only reasonably priced but prime location from the Riverwalk, restaurants and alamodome. It's located in the same parking lot as another hotel so be sure to read the signs and dont try to check into the wrong one like I almost did. I appreciate the shuttle it took us to the Riverwalk and comes every 1/2hr to pick up. Super convenient especially in the hugh congested area. With no other Marriotts available downtown, this was the only one available. After staying at this dump, I can see why. My first mistake was choosing to come downtown for the Alamo Bowl game. My second, was settling for this place. Pros: - Comfortable bed - Full kitchen Cons: - The room stunk - The halls leading to the room stunk - The shower was filthy and had hair on the wall - The whole place was in need of a deep clean. To be more specific, my room smelled like someone had mopped the floors with maple syrup, smeared it into the walls, and spread it all over. The front desk gave me an air freshener to mask the smell, but that only made it worse. Will never stay here again. I'd advise you to do the same. read more

Check in started off a bit rough the 1st room was dingy with stained carpet. Spoke w/Byron at front desk who immediately transferred our party to 5 to another room. He continued to be helpful in offering directions, restaurant choices, and local sights to see. Brandon was our driver and he had the best attitude and huge smile to go with his personality. Stayed here for 5 nights during vacation. Parking is included vs downtown which can get $$$ per night. The hotel has been totally remodeled and my room was a one bedroom, full kitchen, dinning area and living room. The hotel offers breakfast daily and a happy hour with small bites during the week. The hotel is nearby the market place and a short walk to the downtown & river attractions. Breakfast is served 7 days a week and during the week they offer complimentary small bites, wine, beer and sodas. Enjoy the outdoor pool, jacuzzi and adequate fitness center. The staff that I encountered were all friendly and helpful. I'd stay here again for the convenience, practically and reasonable prices. read more

Free upgrade! When I checked in they were very friendly and professional. They gave me recommendations on places to eat and my room was awesome. I always find the people who work at Marriott properties to be polite and professional. The hotel was centrally located to a lot of restaurants and easy highway access. Seems like I have as only 15 minutes from wherever I wanted to be. The gym is an average gym for a hotel, but they also had a pool and basketball courts. You can get a good workout anywhere! My work loves sending me here. I've been here for 6 weeks in total so far and I'm sure I'll get sent back. Writing an update is hard because I realize most people won't stay here longer than a few days, and so the things that bother me might not even exist for others, but this place has a lot of issues that I figured I speak some more truth. Pros: Close to HEB and UberEats has a lot of food options that delivers here, and the front staff is nice. I actually really like the front desk employees and they try their best to accommodate everyone. The rooms look new and the kitchen has decent cookware and all the basics. Cons: I've stayed on every floor and in multiple rooms and it seems like all of them have a bug issue. There was one time when my room was covered in fleas. Not like 10 of them, but like hundreds. HUNDREDS. Long story short, someone snuck in man's best friend and didn't tell anyone. And Fido had some buddies riding on him. I had over 60 flea bites. Not fun. Fleas have been found by many co-workers, some had bed bugs, mosquito infestation and others just broke out into inexplicable rashes. We've all had different experiences reporting our issues to the front desk. While the employees try their best, the higher ups aren't that apologetic. One of the managers suggested that my bites were perhaps from mosquitoes. Yeah lady, I had 64 mosquitoes have their way with my ankles. The gym is stupid small. It's more for one person. If you have even two people in it, it's uncomfortable if the two are trying to use the weights at the same time or want to use the only treadmill. And kids will go into the gym to just hang out like it's a friggin Starbucks. -There's been a few break-ins and damaging of cars in the parking lot. No cameras around. -There's a man that throws food flyers underneath your doors. Hide yo kids, hide yo wife! Don't order from them, please. There's a couple of pizza ones and a sub place but they're all from the same business and the same guy passing them out. Note: he sneaks in the side door even though it's "locked." read more

I stayed here for 4 days when I was in town for the Half-Marathon, it was a pleasant stay Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is great, love their sausage patty, turkey sausage, and oatmeal. Loved that they have fruits and water bottles available during the day The room I stayed, 109, is right next to the elevator, so I could hear the noise, it wasn't loud enough to bother me though. What bothered me is the door, it slams so hard, I almost had a heart attack, I had to keep reminding myself to slowly close the door, because if I didn't, it sounds like I just kicked the door open. The room is huge and what I loved about it is that it has a full size frig and stove, so I can cook some soup (HEB is just around the corner). The living room and bedroom can be separated with a door which I liked for some reason. Parking is plenty. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and will come back again. read more

Big Ups to Ron! He was super helpful and went out of his way to make sure we had what we needed and hooked us up when we faced a little snafu with our vacation plans! You can tell he really cares about his job, his hotel, and his guests, which I find is really hard to come by these days. We got a 2 bedroom suite and it was impeccable. I added photos, but they really looked just like what was on the website. The pool and hot tubs were pretty small, but for the amount of people out there, it was fine. There were a couple of things that could've been nicer, like the guy who worked the night shift and there were one or two things that weren't in real good shape and/or broken that could use a little TLC. But overall it was a nice, short stay in a beautiful room with a full kitchen, and enough space for our whole crew of 6! They have a complimentary breakfast that was nice, with lots of your hotel staples like cereal, breads, juices, coffee, etc. They also had eggs, cinnamon french toast, and sausage (not breakfast sausage, but you know, the red smoked sausage which is a plus for me) and their waffles are shaped like Texas. They kept it all pretty well stocked and the lady who was handling the restocking was super sweet, but I unfortunately failed to catch her name. There was a pretty large, nice sitting area for breakfast with lots of seating. Also, we weren't there during the week, but they apparently have regular "social" events on certain nights of the week with complimentary food, which seems kinda cool. We'll be back if/when we decide to come back to San Antonio. read more

We stayed here recently while attending the 2013 Tejano Fan Fair and it was Ok. The staff is really nice and the prices are reasonable (given the time of year). Ok, it's not the Marriott Riverwalk or Hotel Valencia.. If you want that nice of a hotel, stay on the Riverwalk. If you go during Fiesta or Fan Fair, most of the bands you will want to see are going to be either at the Mercado or at Cattleman's Square. If you want to be by those areas, this is actually not a bad pick. Yes, it's a little pricey for the location. They always jack the prices up during Fan Fair and Fiesta. You pay for the location. Overall, it was an OK hotel. The rooms and hallways looked a little worn down but the rooms were fairly clean and we all had a good night sleep. The staff was very nice and always very helpful. read more

Nothing special. Stayed here for a week traveling with my husband who was in San Antonio on business. We opted for this hotel because it had reasonably priced suites and amenities not found in pricier hotels. While it's nice to have a separate living and sleeping area separated by a door, a microwave, a refrigerator, a sink, a table for eating, a mini stove, and all that good stuff, the appearance of the hotel left a lot to be desired. The elevator buttons on the first floor are messed up, and the elevator had problems during my stay, in particular the door not wanting to close and the buttons didn't work inside the elevator. To their credit they did have someone checking it out--in fact, he arrived to work on the elevator when I was inside it. But there is only one elevator, so having one that doesn't always work properly is an inconvenience. When it was working, though, there was never a long wait, which is a plus. The hotel never smelled clean or fresh. Maybe that has something to do with the pool (which gets a lot of use) and people constantly coming inside wet, which can over time contribute to the mildewy odor. And speaking of the pool, our room overlooked the pool, and glass windows can only do so much to keep out noise, so it had a tendency to be VERY noisy--little kids playing in the pool woke me up on more than one occasion. There was also a lot of noise inside the hotel itself, from nearby rooms, I guess. A lot of thudding and thumping noises. Also, I'm assuming the "budget" walls are super thin because you can hear a lot more than I think you probably should, whether it's noise from the hallway, the room upstairs, whatever. I stayed at a Courtyard Marriott a week ago, and the soundproofing was much better. Because this is an extended stay type of hotel, I never felt like I was staying in a nice property--you just don't get that vibe. But for what it cost, and the amenities, it's a pretty good value. I never participated, but they do have food and drinks some evenings. They also have a free breakfast, which I never ate but my husband did, and he wasn't impressed most mornings. They do have a fruit bowl, and although I saw at least one rotten apple, the bananas were actually in pretty good condition, so there's that... Our room didn't seem overly dirty, but it wasn't all that eye-clean, either. There were mystery stains on the carpet, the sofa, and the chair was so filthy that I didn't even touch it the whole time I was there. The carpet was also unattractive and it looked dingy, although maybe it was just the design that made it look dirty. My bare foot accidentally touched the carpet one evening (I NEVER go barefoot in hotels and always wear flip flops, whether it's a budget hotel or a more costly one) and I had a mini panic attack because the carpet felt damp and "squishy." It's not close to the River Walk. It's a few blocks away (if memory serves me correctly it took 10 - 15 minutes to walk to one particular River Walk entrance) so if close proximity to the attraction is important to you, you might want to look elsewhere. Also, the front desk attendants are very friendly and helpful, and I really liked that aspect of my stay. There was no ice machine on each floor, only one on the lower level. If they would clean the hotel up, do something about the smell, enforce some kind of guidelines so that screaming kids in the pool don't disturb guests at all times of the morning and night, and fix the elevators, they could easily get three stars from me, but now I can't see fit to rate them more than two! Edit: I have discussed our stay at this property with my husband. He feels it should be rated FOUR stars. So, I averaged my two stars with his four stars and decided to leave the hotel a three-star review. And I can agree with that. It wasn't perfect but it was comfortable, the staff was friendly, and it was light years better than the Courtyard Iberville in New Orleans, which he and I both agreed wasn't that special. I still think they should clean all surfaces in the rooms, however, before putting guests in them. read more

It's an OK place to stay. The staff is SUPER helpful and FRIENDLY but the facility is a little out dated. The windows had cracks or were broken on the frames. The carpet smelled like mildew in the hallways. The pool is super small and the breakfast is mediocre. I give the staff 5-stars! I give the building about 3 stars. Over all it's a 3/4 star place that's semi-near downtown in a walkable manner. There is a nice store around the corner where you can stock up on foods and the air conditioning works well. read more

Honestly, it's your typical Extended Stay hotel. It's not exactly a 5 star hotel, but I will say that the staff treat you very well. Customer service is great! My car got broken into while I was staying here and I must say, the staff went above and beyond what was expected. They cleaned up the broken glass in my vehicle for me, apologized for the inconvenience (though it was not their fault at all) and they followed up with me to ensure I was okay. I am a huge fan of going to hotels. I love the feel of a freshly made bed, 300+ thread count sheets and fresh towels. When my husband and I decided to have a kid free evening in town last month, we chose the Residence Inn downtown as the lucky spot for the evening. The service wasn't that good. We had a free voucher from credit card points and the man at the desk didn't know what to do with it. The room smelled like smoke, even though the whole hall was smoke free. The breakfast people in the morning were rude and the sheets were maybe 50 thread count. I haven't slept worse in years. I think Marriott should have a standard no matter what the name they want to call their hotel is. Residence Inn, Courtyard, etc. It is all Marriott, so gives us the Marriott treatment. We are sending back our other voucher, as we do not plan to try to experience that again... BTW, had we not had the voucher? $299 a night plus tax! My coworkers and I have stayed here a few times over the last month. The rooms are large, clean and above average. The complementary breakfast has a pretty good selection. A few nights during the week the hotel offers happy hour and dinner, which is pretty awesome. The thing that set this hotel apart from any other experience was the customer service and hospitality Smitty offered. Each week we came back Smitty was there to welcome us and ensure we had an amazing stay in San Antonio. We've temporarily relocated to San Antonio for my husband's job. Amidst the COVID crisis, this transition has a bit stressful and concerning. From the moment my family and I arrived, the staff and management has been nothing short of phenomenal! We were greeted warmly with a thoughtful welcome card and snacks and treats. Recommendations for carry out and delivery were also provided. Beyond the hospitality, I commend staff for their efforts to combat COVID-19 and all of their precautions to keep everyone healthy. I have been thoroughly reassured the sanitation here is safe for my family. Traveling with two small is difficult enough. Now with the pandemic, social distancing, and a holiday (Easter), my anxiety has piled up even more. Thankfully, we were provided Easter baskets for my boys and encouraged to visit a couple local parks, for walks with the stroller. I am truly grateful for the gesture and all the assistance I've received. I appreciate them helping make this a holiday to remember, despite the times! The staff here is remarkable. Professional, courteous, and attentive. I've never felt rushed nor felt like I was a burden for my MANY requests and inquiries. The team here has far exceeded my expectations and I am excited to continue my (extended) stay here. read more

I was disgusted when the GM, Lorraine Cruz insisted that I had to fill out and agree to their pet policy for my service dog, and when I disagreed with the contents and refused to sign it, she refused to honor the reservation my husband and I had. That wasn't the worst part, despite having a fully trained service dog, I was notified that he wouldnt be able to accompany me if I was anywhere pets weren't allowed.. he only had access to the room, route to and from the exit and the lobby, he wasn't allowed in the restaurant, exercise room, restaurant or anywhere other than the 3 areas as mentioned. She made zero effort to even be friendly. she was rude, ridiculous, and unpleasant in all ways, leaving me in tears and with nowhere to stay for our week in the city. When I contacted Marriott, they were apologetic but didn't do anything other than email me a short 3 line apology for the inconvenience. I have decided that although I've never had many problems with their company, I won't be staying at their properties unless I have no choice. read more

Wanted to try this location again after 5 years and the last time it was a disappointment. Well it's still bad here. Hot water in my kitchen was non existence and had to go to the washroom sink to get hot water. Breakfast is not good as the sausage was undercooked and the toaster in the breakfast area never quite toasted my bread. Had to toast the bread about 3 times. Oh the dining/breakfast area is way too small to accommodate the number of guest at this location. Finally, my room was in the non attached building and the ice machine was non operational. I will never come back here again unless they totally remodel this location. If you want to stay at a Residence Inn in downtown, I recommend the location on Bonham St. read more

Only six dollars but the manager wouldn't honor it saying oh yea this happens all the time through expedia. if you don't like it we will help you find a new hotel. I booked this hotel over the internet on the Marriott website. When I drove up, the place scared me a little because of its very old looking building. First, I will rate the room itself, at arrival the room was clean and fully stocked with the regular necessities; dishes, cups, fridge, salt, etc. Staff: I cannot say how welcoming and professional they were to my friends and I. I interactive with about three different front desk workers, a young Hispanic man, Hispanic lady, and an African American gentleman and all of them were AMAZING! They were so accommodating and helped with any questions or concerns immediately. Atmosphere: Gym is pretty small some dumbbells, one treadmill, and a bike. They also have a basketball and tennis court! Also right across the street is a grocery store that is about a 5 minute walk! read more

Rooms are great and amenities were great with having a new born and to be able to have two separate spaces. Breakfast would have been great if guests from the neighboring hotel did not come in. I usually like the Residence Inn, brand and while I appreciated the two bedroom suite upgrade, being a single traveller, this could not make up for the fact that when I checked in after arriving late due to a thunderstorm in San Antonio I was checked into a room that was under repair. Coffe cup, caulking guns and dirty rags welcomed me to my room. I called down and was quickly moved to a similar room without the construction. This hotel is in desperate need of an upgrade to meet my expectations as a Marriott property. Very friendly staff, clean room. Manager's get together on Monday-Wednesday have soda, beer, wine and very nearly a full meal. I was upgraded to a suite as my room wasn't ready yet: very spacious with kitchen, plates, utensils and a fridge and dishwasher. Only complaint is a few towels had what appeared to be rust spots, although not very big. Would definitely stay here again. read more
