Stayed here for 5 nights during vacation. Parking is included vs downtown which can get $$$ per night. The hotel has been totally remodeled and my room was a one bedroom, full kitchen, dinning area and living room. The hotel offers breakfast daily and a happy hour with small bites during the week. The hotel is nearby the market place and a short walk to the downtown & river attractions. Breakfast is served 7 days a week and during the week they offer complimentary small bites, wine, beer and sodas. Enjoy the outdoor pool, jacuzzi and adequate fitness center. The staff that I encountered were all friendly and helpful. I'd stay here again for the convenience, practically and reasonable prices.

Free upgrade! When I checked in they were very friendly and professional. They gave me recommendations on places to eat and my room was awesome. I always find the people who work at Marriott properties to be polite and professional. The hotel was centrally located to a lot of restaurants and easy highway access. Seems like I have as only 15 minutes from wherever I wanted to be. The gym is an average gym for a hotel, but they also had a pool and basketball courts. You can get a good workout anywhere! I would stay here again.

I stayed here for 4 days when I was in town for the Half-Marathon, it was a pleasant stay Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is great, love their sausage patty, turkey sausage, and oatmeal. Loved that they have fruits and water bottles available during the day The room I stayed, 109, is right next to the elevator, so I could hear the noise, it wasn't loud enough to bother me though. What bothered me is the door, it slams so hard, I almost had a heart attack, I had to keep reminding myself to slowly close the door, because if I didn't, it sounds like I just kicked the door open. The room is huge and what I loved about it is that it has a full size frig and stove, so I can cook some soup (HEB is just around the corner). The living room and bedroom can be separated with a door which I liked for some reason. Parking is plenty. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and will come back again.

Big Ups to Ron! He was super helpful and went out of his way to make sure we had what we needed and hooked us up when we faced a little snafu with our vacation plans! You can tell he really cares about his job, his hotel, and his guests, which I find is really hard to come by these days. We got a 2 bedroom suite and it was impeccable. I added photos, but they really looked just like what was on the website. The pool and hot tubs were pretty small, but for the amount of people out there, it was fine. There were a couple of things that could've been nicer, like the guy who worked the night shift and there were one or two things that weren't in real good shape and/or broken that could use a little TLC. But overall it was a nice, short stay in a beautiful room with a full kitchen, and enough space for our whole crew of 6! They have a complimentary breakfast that was nice, with lots of your hotel staples like cereal, breads, juices, coffee, etc. They also had eggs, cinnamon french toast, and sausage (not breakfast sausage, but you know, the red smoked sausage which is a plus for me) and their waffles are shaped like Texas. They kept it all pretty well stocked and the lady who was handling the restocking was super sweet, but I unfortunately failed to catch her name. There was a pretty large, nice sitting area for breakfast with lots of seating. Also, we weren't there during the week, but they apparently have regular "social" events on certain nights of the week with complimentary food, which seems kinda cool. We'll be back if/when we decide to come back to San Antonio.

Mystery stains on what is the seat of the chair that was at the desk. I didn't touch it, I just cringed and tried to ignore it!

Nothing special. Stayed here for a week traveling with my husband who was in San Antonio on business. We opted for this hotel because it had reasonably priced suites and amenities not found in pricier hotels. While it's nice to have a separate living and sleeping area separated by a door, a microwave, a refrigerator, a sink, a table for eating, a mini stove, and all that good stuff, the appearance of the hotel left a lot to be desired. The elevator buttons on the first floor are messed up, and the elevator had problems during my stay, in particular the door not wanting to close and the buttons didn't work inside the elevator. To their credit they did have someone checking it out--in fact, he arrived to work on the elevator when I was inside it. But there is only one elevator, so having one that doesn't always work properly is an inconvenience. When it was working, though, there was never a long wait, which is a plus. The hotel never smelled clean or fresh. Maybe that has something to do with the pool (which gets a lot of use) and people constantly coming inside wet, which can over time contribute to the mildewy odor. And speaking of the pool, our room overlooked the pool, and glass windows can only do so much to keep out noise, so it had a tendency to be VERY noisy--little kids playing in the pool woke me up on more than one occasion. There was also a lot of noise inside the hotel itself, from nearby rooms, I guess. A lot of thudding and thumping noises. Also, I'm assuming the "budget" walls are super thin because you can hear a lot more than I think you probably should, whether it's noise from the hallway, the room upstairs, whatever. I stayed at a Courtyard Marriott a week ago, and the soundproofing was much better. Because this is an extended stay type of hotel, I never felt like I was staying in a nice property--you just don't get that vibe. But for what it cost, and the amenities, it's a pretty good value. I never participated, but they do have food and drinks some evenings. They also have a free breakfast, which I never ate but my husband did, and he wasn't impressed most mornings. They do have a fruit bowl, and although I saw at least one rotten apple, the bananas were actually in pretty good condition, so there's that... Our room didn't seem overly dirty, but it wasn't all that eye-clean, either. There were mystery stains on the carpet, the sofa, and the chair was so filthy that I didn't even touch it the whole time I was there. The carpet was also unattractive and it looked dingy, although maybe it was just the design that made it look dirty. My bare foot accidentally touched the carpet one evening (I NEVER go barefoot in hotels and always wear flip flops, whether it's a budget hotel or a more costly one) and I had a mini panic attack because the carpet felt damp and "squishy." It's not close to the River Walk. It's a few blocks away (if memory serves me correctly it took 10 - 15 minutes to walk to one particular River Walk entrance) so if close proximity to the attraction is important to you, you might want to look elsewhere. Also, the front desk attendants are very friendly and helpful, and I really liked that aspect of my stay. There was no ice machine on each floor, only one on the lower level. If they would clean the hotel up, do something about the smell, enforce some kind of guidelines so that screaming kids in the pool don't disturb guests at all times of the morning and night, and fix the elevators, they could easily get three stars from me, but now I can't see fit to rate them more than two! Edit: I have discussed our stay at this property with my husband. He feels it should be rated FOUR stars. So, I averaged my two stars with his four stars and decided to leave the hotel a three-star review. And I can agree with that. It wasn't perfect but it was comfortable, the staff was friendly, and it was light years better than the Courtyard Iberville in New Orleans, which he and I both agreed wasn't that special. I still think they should clean all surfaces in the rooms, however, before putting guests in them.

Spacious and clean breakfast area. They also have serious snacks most evenings. Hamburgers and dogs tonight

I would stay here again in a heart beat It's clean updated and easy to get to Most important is that you get a good nights rest here I did not hear kids, honeymooners or seniors with blaring tv,s Staff was helpful Breakfast was good. Better. Than most G

My husband booked this hotel because of its convenient location, close to the River Walk and Alamo and most important, its in a very old and full of history building. We both really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean with the most comfortable beds and pillows and the very fun and convenient breakfasts and dinners/drinks. The beds and pillows were so comfy, we slept for almost 12 hours our first night... The foods, buffet style, were good, with many options. (They are comfort foods, if you expect high-end kind, it's not for you...) The customer services were what we appreciated and enjoyed the most. All of the staff, from the front desk hosts, to the managers, bartender (Annette), food service group... everyone was so friendly, nice, and welcoming. *The only "issue" that we experienced was the super loud, seemed like hours long, of car honkings, engines noice... of 1 night. But it wasn't the hotel's problem. The home team, The Spurs, won the game and the city was celebrating... Highly recommend this hotel and the services here... Thanks for showing us, the out-of-towners, the warm and hospitality of San Antonio/Texans that we heard so often before...

What set it apart wasn't simply the beautiful hotel or location -- it was the level of personal care. Ariel at the concierge desk was wonderful. She helped arrange safe airport transportation for my friend when she arrived before me and, when my flight was significantly delayed, made sure she could check in without me. Being stuck traveling and knowing she was in good hands was invaluable. We were welcomed with a personal note, fruit, flowers and champagne, and then surprised with more birthday treats during our spa day. Those thoughtful details made the entire stay feel special. And the SPA! Easily one of the best I've ever visited. Being able to truly relax before and after our treatments -- especially in the beautiful post-treatment lounge -- made it an experience rather than simply a massage appointment. Jessica gave me what was quite literally the best massage I've ever had (and I've had a lot of massages!). Even the little things stood out: complimentary morning coffee delivered through room service and an incredibly kind and helpful room-service attendant. Luxury hotels can have beautiful rooms and impressive amenities. What made Mokara exceptional was how genuinely cared for we felt from beginning to end. The personal touches made all the difference. Mokara will absolutely be at the top of my list the next time I'm in San Antonio. Five stars without hesitation.

It was still AMAZING and left me wishing that I could stay longer! My King Room was huge and ultra clean and comfortable! Taking a break from work, I headed to the pool deck, which was small but sufficient and had comfortable chairs to sun in. I remembered an amazing redfish dish from Ostra, enjoyed so many years ago... I really wanted to eat at Ostra again this visit, because I saw redfish on the menu and wondered if it was really as good as my memory of it. I was initially bummed that Ostra was closed for a private event during my stay, BUT my disappointment quickly turned to excitement when I saw the same dish offered on the room service menu. YES!! It was as good if not better than my memory of it! Finally and importantly, the individuals working in valet, front desk, and room service were so service driven and friendly! Overall, I cannot wait to stay at the Mokara again in the hopefully, not so distant future!

First off, from checking in to, room service, to drinks in the Library, to our checkout, the staff was fantastic, friendly, and there to assist with absolutely anything you needed or wanted. Even the room service staff was top notch! The rooms were beautiful and well set up for comfort and luxury. Even the bathroom was luxurious and inviting. We enjoyed checking out the Private Library while having cocktails and learning even more about this fascinating building from the new and friendly Concierge. The pool was beautiful, warm and inviting and offered an interesting view from one of the upper floors. The Hotel bar offered some great perks for guest, private upstairs access away from the crowds, top notch service and attention from the staff and the opportunity to spend some time sipping cocktails on the couch in private in an old 28,000 gallon beer finishing tank. Having coffee and pastries on a beautiful outdoor patio in the morning was also another great opportunity. There was close access to many different places in the Peal Brewing square area adjacent to Hotel Emma including a great morning street fair on Sunday. Hotel Emma is the only 5 Star Hotel that we are aware of in Texas and also provided an outstanding Michelien rated restaurant for dinner (separate review). Over all, we can not find one thing we were unhappy with during our stay at Hotel Emma, other than the fact that our stay was far too short. If you are looking for the ultimate in Hotel stays/service, you MUST take some time and come for a stay. We will definitely be returning to Hotel Emma on our next trip to San Antonio.
