Best point is that it's on the river. The Domingo restaurant patio is accessible from the river also. The bathroom was the best part of the room though. No room service after ten. Elevators are slow. Valet is $79 per night. You are paying for the convenience of being on the river . We really wanted to like this hotel, but unfortunately, there were too many issues during our stay. One of the elevators was out of service, which created extremely long wait times for the two remaining elevators. They were already overcrowded, and staff were also using them to transport large carts, making the situation even more frustrating for guests. There was also an extremely long wait each time we requested our vehicle from valet, especially during checkout. We also had an unpleasant experience with one of the female bartenders, who was blatantly rude to us for no apparent reason. She walked away from us in the middle of our order and appeared visibly irritated with nearly everyone she assisted. The room itself was nice, but we had another issue with housekeeping. When we checked in, we were asked if we wanted housekeeping during our two-night stay, and we specifically said no. Despite that, housekeeping entered my room while we were away, removed and lost my personal towels, replacing them with hotel towels! They also entered my son's room and threw away a pizza that was in a pizza box sitting on his desk. It was food he had eaten for lunch that day and had not intended to throw away. For the amount of money we paid to stay here, I expected a much higher level of service and professionalism. Unfortunately, the chaotic atmosphere, poor communication, and lack of respect for our privacy made this a disappointing stay. I do not recommend staying at this hotel. read more

Probably one of my favorites in the San Antonio area. Great location right in the heart of Riverwalk (could be a plus or minus depending on your perspective). Cute boutique Hilton property with modern design and aesthetic. Deluxe king was spacious, bathroom area separated by a barn door. Vanity outside the shower / toilet, and plenty of room in both. No closet per se, exposed area for things that need to be hanged, with a few drawers built in. Nespresso machine and a small fridge were convenient. Apparently even-numbered floors are getting upgraded so there was no ice machine on my floor (not the one above and below me for that matter oddly). Front desk was nice enough to send up some ice. The property is valet only, and price is quite steep, but the attendants were probably one of the most helpful and friendly I've come across in my years of travel. There's a restaurant in the lower floor that was quite popular ; wait was 3 hrs one night for a table. I opted for the 3rd floor bar which have more limited food selection, but I was able to find a seat at the bar all the nights I was there. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town. read more

Terrible hotel for how expensive it is. Valet is $70, but you come to find out that it takes them 15 to 30 minutes to fetch your car, so plan ahead. The luggage carts: they removed the hanging poles from them so that you can't hang your suit bags, so stupid. Then their bar was closed for a private event on a Thursday. And then the gas heater in the patio didn't work. And you have to order ice to your room, which takes 30 minutes. Be ready to spend over $35 for a breakfast burrito and a coffee. Plain old coffee $6. And what's with the stupid tiny glasses and cups. See picture. They are trying so hard to be boutique, and the results are a subpar Super 8. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. read more

Though they can't control this, pretty much every street ensconcing this hotel was under construction. Traffic was a complete CF and the traffic womble kept trying to divert people the wrong way down a road closure to a one way flow. At least she was trying? Check in was pretty smooth and our room looked really cool!! And that's about it. The bed had 2 pillows per person that were made out of confetti and completely collapsed on you. The bed itself was apparently designed for Fred Flinstone to sleep on it was so hard. The sheets were nice and crunchy as well. (Update. I had enough. New pillows were requested...which were worse and like a sock with cotton balls inside.) The towels were also nice and crispy and reeked of bleach and felt like toweling off with 500 grit sandpaper. The AC was broke? Never came on so mid 70's for us for the duration. (Update after vents were OPENED...room finally started to cool down...then we had to leave...) There was 1 box of tissue that had obviously been dropped in water, soaked through, and never replaced. Upon asking for new tissues we were given a roll of paper towels from the public bathroom hand drying station. Extra toilet paper was supplied on day 2. The coffee machine did not stop at 1 cup and pumped the entire reservoir into the small cups causing a coffee overflow situation. So it was abandoned lobby coffee was drinkable-ish. Whataburger again to the rescue. The shower was broken and ran constant drips. Also the drain to the shower was clogged. No wonder they have concrete floors for the inevitable lake the overflow will cause at some point. The washing items...diabolical. It was some "plant based" gobbledygook that was from New York (should tell you all you need to know) that made you smell like the Hudson...or reek. Your choice. Ewww. Fortunately we travel with our own. The "fridge" was more of a "slowly warm your drinks" machine. We had to request extra towels washcloths and hand towels. 2/3 elevators did not work half the time. There was no in room microwave to warm things if needed. The ice machine in the hallway functioned every 3rd try. Then not at all. The restaurant Domingo was very nice. Prices. Not so much. $16 for 1 bacon and some powdered scrambled eggs?!? To Whataburger!!!! More on this later as well. Whew!!! As someone who travels a lot, and for $250 a night...sadly this could have been WAY better and was only compounded by St. Patrick's day tourists. My husband and I stayed at this wonderful hotel for our first trip ever to San Antonio. One cannot beat the proximity to the Riverwalk and all that San Antonio has to offer. The Riverwalk is right downstairs, and it is 0.3 miles from the Alamo! The rooms are spacious and have a fun contemporary vibe. This is a dog friendly hotel, and we loved that our two small dogs could join us. The rooms are also very soundproof! Fewer unknown noises to concern our pups! Rooms were very clean upon arrival! And I loved the shower design. But what really makes this place stand out is the staff! EVERY SINGLE employee that we interacted with was pleasant and seemed genuinely happy that we chose to stay there. I've stayed at a couple of hotels in the riverwalk and this is by far my favorite. The valet fellas were super nice and speedy with getting the car. Front desk staff was also very nice. I loved the room with a view of the riverwalk. Perhaps the best was the ease of access to the actual riverwalk itself. I'm usually Leary of hotel restaurants but theirs was great. I WAS HIGHLY IMPRESSED WITH MY STAY HERE AT THE CANOPY. I luckily get to travel frequently for work and this time I had the pleasure coming out to San Antonio and knew I wanted to stay on the Riverwalk. After looking at reviews on Yelp, it was really hard for me to decide where to stay, however the modern asthetic/ design of the hotel is what caught my eye and their location. I AM SO GLAD I BOOKED MY 3 NIGHT STAY HERE. Since I am a Gold Member with Hilton, I was able to get a complimentary upgrade to a Riverwalk view. On top of it, I got a $30 day credit for food and breverage that i got use at their resteraunt which is very good and worth checking out. Went up to my room on the 15 floor (1514) and I LOVED IT! SUPER SPACIOUS ROOM, high quality furniture/ decor. I loved the granite floors and the floor to ceiling windows as it gave the room such a modern view. The bathroom area was huge and loved the title. The water pressure was perfect and the water got hot easily. The nespresso machine was a nice touch. Also, the rooms controls (TV, AC, ect,) can be controlled from your Hilton app! Service here on top of it was amazing. Every time I interacted with the guest line for more nespresso pods or anything, they were kind and sent it up right away! After checking in somewhat late Thursday night, we walked up to a dirty room. Not just a little dirty, there were used cups, towels, a messy bed, and feces covering the toilet. It was absolutely disgusting and set a bad tone for the rest of the night/trip. I felt gross about everything I touched after that. Valet assistance helped right away, but takes time to pick up car. A gentleman greeted us outside and warned us flooring remodel noise and offered us to wait outside as he checked us in. It was fine and he got us to our room right away. Our room was 916 and it was a tad on the small side. View on riverwalk from up top. It's an industrial modern feel. The Canopy in San Antonio is a no-frills hotel located on St. Mary's street and the river walk. It features a restaurant, Domingo, downstairs on the riverwalk level. The parking situation appears to be valet; I didn't drive, so I can't comment on that experience. But the valets do open the front entrance doors if they are around. When you enter, the checkin area is to the right at a "desk" that has space for 2 staff. They will kindly check baggage for you if you arrive early. The lobby area is actually a bit small. There are some TVs and a bit of seating. Elevator access is keycard controlled. The hotel has more than 20 floors. Lobby bathrooms are actually downstairs by Domingo (curl around behind the elevators). Going up, there exists water bottle fillers for each floor--it seems to be tap water, but it isn't particular pleasant tasting. The rooms have concrete floors. Room controls (aka the TV) can be controlled through the Hilton app. I stayed in a room that faces St. Mary's street. A divider exists between the sleeping area and the bathroom area / entrance. The sink is separated from the toilet and shower via a sliding door. The room had a nice view of swimming pool / spa area of the Mokara Hotel & Spa, as well as the Torch of Friendship statue. Location-wise, this hotel is well situated. The hotel restaurant Domingo appears to be quite popular, so if it's too busy, you could just order takeout from there. It's an easy walk to anywhere bounded by the interstates. It's only a couple blocks away from the light show at the San Fernando Cathedral, has easy access to 3 branches of riverwalk, etc. A quiet and clean room good for a simple stay. read more

Nice hotel. We had two rooms for a few days. It was comfortable, in a great location right on the riverwalk. I'd definitely stay at the hotel again if visiting San Antonio. The only reason for 3 instead of 4-5 stars is the exorbitant valety parking pricing, which wasn't very clearly disclosed. Parking at the hotel is limited to valet, and it is $60/day (though there are plenty of garages nearby within walking distance, if you'd like to self-park.. I should have done that in retrospect). I figure somewhere in the $20-$40 range would be reasonable. I didn't notice any prominent posting of the pricing in the check-in area. read more

The only thing I didn't like was that the shower was clogged (gross) and the shower head had algae. I told the front desk and they cna only ap I ogize. I am so glad we booked this hotel based on the Trip Advisor score (5.0) rather than the Yelp score (3.7). This hotel was amazing start to finish. I'm a diamond member so we had already been upgraded prior to arrival. At arrival the front desk offered us a suite upgrade for a small fee. It was worth every dime. The room was amazing, the service was wonderful, the restaurant and bar were both great. I have 0 complaints. Every staff we interacted with was professional and friendly far beyond a typical hotel experience for the area. We will be back. I have stayed at most every hotel in the riverwalk area at this point and this is probably my favorite for the money. It's not a 5 star hotel (there's only two of those in the riverwalk area and they charge 2-4x the price of this hotel), so it doesn't have a grand entrance or lobby. It's a well-curated boutique hotel with only a few rooms per floor. The suite was super clean, very modern, insanely large shower (honestly like 7ftx7ft), and well thought out design. It's in the perfect area of the riverwalk, right by everything. It's literately connected to Esquire, my favorite bar in the area. Know that this is a popular area of the riverwalk, and suites are the only rooms with balconies and are on the lower floors--so if you're going for a weekend, there will be some noise pollution at night, but nothing crazy. In addition to the excellent layout, I want to point out a few pros and cons of the room for the easily changeable parts of the stay. Pros: The room had a fabric steamer, not an iron. This came in handy perfectly to steam out the creases in a new shirt I bought while in town and wanted to wear. The TVs had accessible HDMI ports so we didn't have to unplug anything or do anything weird like at a lot of hotels to plug in our travel Roku. The coffee machine is a Nespresso. The bathroom very smartly has a large open faced cabinet that handled our luggage and clothing simply. The fridge is a pull out drawer which was chic and super easy to use for our drinks. There's a filtered water dispenser super close to all the rooms and a clean bottle in the room to refill--so you don't have to drink hotel sink water or bring a bunch of bottles. Cons: The shampoo, soap, etc are all a high curated brand but the scent was definitely not for me. They call it charcoal infused but it smelled like campfire to me. Thankfully I brought my own. The room didn't come with an extra blanket anywhere. I'm sure I could have easily called the desk and gotten one, but it would have been nice on such a cold weekend. The room has glasses but no stemware. Maybe everyone isn't a lush like we are but stemware in the room would have been nice. We did ask the front desk and it wasn't available, she told us we could go ask the restaurant. That seems like something the manager should address. The TP in the bathroom should be upgraded to something less...motel 6. That's my honest review. We loved our stay and will be back soon! read more

The Canopy is our go-to hotel when staying downtown San Antonio. We have always been able to get a room with a balcony, but because this was the week of Rodeo, we were not able to reserve one. However, the front desk was kind enough to give us an upgrade since we were celebrating our anniversary. The hospitality is always great! I was a little let down when we walked into our room and there were no robes or slippers/socks. Other than that, the room was nice and clean with a spectacular view of the riverwalk. read more

Wow, smack dab in the heart of the city, everything seemed to be within walking distance...30-40 restaurants and tons of shopping right along the Riverwalk, so +1 star for location. The hotel is very nice, clean and nearly "modern chic". The bathroom design is cute and looks awesome, but the design and functionality is terrible, at least in room 504 it was, and I'm assuming the rest of the bathrooms are the same way. Warning: if you have any sort of mobility issues you should ask for an ADA room or look elsewhere, this is a fall waiting to happen. The way the toilet, shower, shower door, and bathroom door are all situated makes it seem the designer and architect were not on the same page, having the glass shower door open to the toilet and not having much room to wiggle around the door to grab your towel, all while avoiding the toilet made it...awkward. Buyer beware. Other than the bathroom, having a restaurant and bar on site is very nice. Parking is nil, so like just about everywhere else downtown there is valet parking. We checked in early and was assisted by Megan up at the front desk and she was more than helpful...letting us dock our luggage while our room was being prepared and acting as a concierge and giving our lots of recommendations on restaurants, shopping, and things to do. Thank you Megan. There are soooo many other hotels in the area I don't know if I would stay here again or look for another place, but if you're looking for clean and modern lodging with excellent location, then the Canopy may be for you. The minute I walked in I was sized up as if not worthy to stay in their stinking hotel. The man was rude. I said I needed to check in. I'm sixty six with a broken arm and he did not offer you help just size me up. I was then told to leave the tip for housekeeping on the bill . I refused since I carry cash and prefer to leave cash. Then instructed on elevators as if I have never been anywhere. The whole situation the worst customer experience in my life. I hold two passports and have been to many places. They are beyond rude. Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Y'all...this hotel right here?!?! It will be the hotel for me for every future stay in San Antonio! The location is ideal..smack dab on the riverwalk. No Uber was really ever used. It's walking distance to pretty much anywhere you need to go in this great city (Alamo, museums, the majestic, Bohanans). The staff was friendly....not annoying or fake....very appropriate. Trendy and unique designs and artwork throughout the rooms. The suite was clean and spacious. The shower could fit about 10 people. I could've stayed there many more days on top of my 3 day stay....I even ignored the grease stain on the headboard.... ;-) Not sure on the prices....I just know it ain't cheap....SN: always keep baller friends ;-)....buuuuutttt I'd say it's definitely well worth it. Check out the otro bar and get a stiff one (get litty), then head on down to Domingo (pricey but good!) for brunch or dinner! For the light sleepers, those party animals down on the riverwalk could keep you up at night. Don't get pissy! Join them or take an ambien! Didn't bother me one bit! Stayed for two nights. Went to bar about 10pm on Friday night. Bar tender said last call and recommended another bar (5 -10 minute walk - NOT on riverwalk). We went and let our friends know who were arriving later to the hotel. However bar hours we found out later are actually to midnight. Bar tender trying to get guests to leave. Our friends showed up at 11 and tried the bar anyway , bar was still open at hotel and were told the same thing at 11pm - last call. Upset and spoke to frond desk that night which informed me and confirmed bar is officially open till midnight. Offered no help. Talked to hotel manager the next day, she was unaware of my complaint the night before. I was told the bar is a third party and not under hotel management. Very disappointing experience trying to meet up with friends and especially from hotel management who seemed extremely indifferent since hotel bar not really part of hotel. read more

We came to see comedian Josh Jackson and thought it was a convenient location since the Aztec Theatre is right across the street. Check in time was at 3pm and we arrived at 4:06pm to check in and they told us management was checking to see if room was ready. However, we heard them tell this to the people checking in prior to us and after us and they gave us all "a free drink" voucher for the bar. We left them our luggage and went for the drinks. They said they would text us when the room was ready. We were at the bar until 5:30pm and they never texted us. We went back to the lobby at which point they informed us the room was ready. We grabbed our luggage and went up. The room was okay but nothing worth the $250 a night we paid. Also, there were nail clippings on the floor by our bed. Our view was also nothing special. I was pretty disappointed with my stay here. When we first arrived, we were greeted by the valet and found out the daily parking rate was outrageous. We live in Houston and are use to paying for Valet parking and this was almost double what we normally pay. Then when we went to get our room we were having issues with the Hilton app and it was not letting us check in properly and the front desk guy was really rude about it. We are diamond members and know how the damn app works and he was being condescending about us not knowing how to do it right and it was glitching. We asked for cards to get in our room and he acted like we were inconveniencing him. How much we paid for the room and the food we would assume you wouldn't have to deal with attitude and disrespect that you see at other low end hotels. The room itself was just okay, nothing to get excited about inside. It is just convenient in its location on the river walk. We visit San Antonio several times a year, and we will not be staying here again it's a rip off. read more

The harmonious blend of beige, light blue, and wood accents provided an inviting sanctuary for guests of all tastes. -- The hotel impresses with its array of amenities both within and surrounding the property, including some innovative features. The third floor's inviting communal space encourages relaxation and socialization, while the well-equipped gym caters to fitness enthusiasts with an assortment of equipment. However, the exclusion of Peloton membership access for the bike rental service was a minor disappointment, easily remedied by a nominal fee. First of all Johnathons energy is amazing. The moment we stepped in we felt like we were on a well deserved vacation. He is so informative gave us all the right answers it's like he's reading our minds haha but other than that... I booked a room a week in advance and had to cancel the next day. Despite that, they charged my card at 11:00 AM on the day I was to arrive when check in is not even til 3:00 PM. Still waiting to be reimbursed. Not happy with this hotel! read more

The good: nice new hotel right on the Riverwalk. Great views. Great location. Clean modern style. Restaurant and bar down on the water was decent. I forgot my toothbrush and the front desk provided a freebie instead of directing me to buy one for $5 in their shop, like you get in a lot of hotels these days. Rooms are a pretty good size for being downtown. The bad: Housekeeping is only provided upon request - which wouldn't be a problem except we requested it two days in a row and never got it. After a couple calls they finally at least sent someone to drop off some fresh towels and some toilet paper. Also, the valet took over 30 minutes to retrieve our car one day. It only happened once, but since we were trying to make a flight it was bad timing. Perhaps the staff was a little overwhelmed during Fiesta? The rooftop bar was not good - go next door to the downstairs Esquire speakeasy instead. Finally, no one wants a barn door on their bathroom. It offers all the privacy and noise muffling of a beaded curtain. read more

While the hotel can seem a bit pricey, the amenities and location are worth it. Located along the San Antonio Riverwalk, there is ample options for dining and taking a nice walk along the water. As you walk through the entrance of the hotel you are met with a modern yet rustic decor of the hotel and a friendly staff. Once up to my room, the modern amenities continue with concrete floors, and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom is amazing with the attention to detail on the tiles and mirrors. The room even has a Nespresso machine! I will absolutely state here again on my next trip. read more
