My husband Mark and I spent Mother's Day in the beautiful Hotel Emma. We have stayed in this unique hotel in this cultural city several times. Although we always had a wonderful time, nothing has compared to this stay. The concierge, Chelsea Chavez, is a true gem. She treats her patrons like family. She will answer any of your questions with a beautiful smile and a wealth of knowledge. Chelsea's husband, Jason, in food and beverage, is also quite a find. In the Library, he makes a mean Margarita! (With a smile and a great personality. A special shout out to Sebastian and Nicholas in the parking brigade. They are so engaging and fun as they welcome their guests. They also motored us around the city when we left the hotel with competency and safety. On a previous stop in San Antonio my wife and I fell in love with the story and design of Hotel Emma, so we then made it a point to stay at this fabulous hotel for our upcoming anniversary. I could go on for many paragraphs about how great our stay was at Hotel Emma but I will keep it short as this is something you just need to experience. First off, from checking in to, room service, to drinks in the Library, to our checkout, the staff was fantastic, friendly, and there to assist with absolutely anything you needed or wanted. Even the room service staff was top notch! The rooms were beautiful and well set up for comfort and luxury. Even the bathroom was luxurious and inviting. We enjoyed checking out the Private Library while having cocktails and learning even more about this fascinating building from the new and friendly Concierge. The pool was beautiful, warm and inviting and offered an interesting view from one of the upper floors. The Hotel bar offered some great perks for guest, private upstairs access away from the crowds, top notch service and attention from the staff and the opportunity to spend some time sipping cocktails on the couch in private in an old 28,000 gallon beer finishing tank. Having coffee and pastries on a beautiful outdoor patio in the morning was also another great opportunity. There was close access to many different places in the Peal Brewing square area adjacent to Hotel Emma including a great morning street fair on Sunday. Hotel Emma is the only 5 Star Hotel that we are aware of in Texas and also provided an outstanding Michelien rated restaurant for dinner (separate review). Over all, we can not find one thing we were unhappy with during our stay at Hotel Emma, other than the fact that our stay was far too short. If you are looking for the ultimate in Hotel stays/service, you MUST take some time and come for a stay. We will definitely be returning to Hotel Emma on our next trip to San Antonio. read more

I have been to this property many times to grab a drink at the bar or explore the property but this was my first time staying! It truly is an exceptional property - check in was quick and easy and the room was stunning. It kept the integrity of the original building with exposed concrete walls and floors and beautiful lights and decor. The bathroom is also stunning and the shower is the best hotel shower I have ever encountered with lovely lavender shower gels and lotions. It does however lack counter space which makes it a little difficult to get ready as there is nowhere to place make up etc. Each night there is a traditional turndown service where they bring you fresh water, ice and macarons from the local bakery which is a lovely treat. The hotel also offers free coffee delivered to your room or available in the downstairs library and comes with two tokens for afternoon cocktails! The hotel bar is beautiful with delicious cocktails and bar snacks and the hotel is surrounded by some of the best restaurants in San Antonio at the Pearl. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the fact that the room was very noisy and it was difficult to sleep. They provide eye masks and ear plugs at turndown so likely are aware! A lot is unavoidable due to the structure of the hotel - the exposed concrete, high ceilings make everything echo so when guest were passing you could hear every word echo back but the room also had noisy pipes with a running water sounds all evening and a fridge that was so , so loud it made sleep difficult ! That's a deal breaker for me as the one thing I need to do in a hotel especially when there for a work trip - is sleep! Other than that it is a stunning property snd certainly one of the most beautiful properties I have ever stayed in ! read more

I took my wife here for her birthday weekend. We stayed two nights, checking out around 11am on Sunday. Rooms: Perfect. We got the Terrace River Cellar room with a king bed. The room was immaculate and had just about everything you'd want in a room. There was no coffee machine, but you can have a pot of complimentary coffee delivered in the morning. The balcony was large and lovely; with a fireplace we got to use the last morning we were there on this unseasonably warm January weekend. The room is full of informational brochures/flyers about the local Pearl area, so if you've never been, you'll want to look at these. Concierge: Exceptional. They answered all my questions and even some I didn't ask; plus, they responded to emails in a timely manner. They gave me options to set up the room for birthday surprise. I ordered roses, a fruit tray with Topo Chico, a birthday banner, balloons, and chocolate, etc. I also had turn down service, which was a great touch. It was so nice to come back to the room in the evening, after dinners and drinks on Friday and Saturday nights. If you stay, and aren't sure what you want to do, eat, drink, etc., just ask the concierge team. Staff: Exceptional. Every single employee (front desk, housekeeping, room service, valet, etc.) we encountered at the hotel was the epitome of a welcoming, friendly professional. I can't say enough about that! I highly recommend the hotel tour, which they do twice a day. The bar gets crowded on weekend evenings, but they have little hideaways in the bar reserved for guests to get out of the throngs while remaining in the bar, which is a nice touch. We live in town and go to the Pearl fairly often, but this was our first stay at the hotel; it was a wonderful, fun, memorable weekend. There was nothing that wasn't absolutely on point and perfect. One of the highlights of The Pearl District is Hotel Emma. I walked my friend though Hotel Emma and explained some it's unique history. The hotel has been restored from a 19th-century brewhouse, originally part of the Pearl Brewing Company. The hotel is a convergence of industrial charn and elegant Texas chic. Hotel Emma is named after Emma Koehler, who managed the brewery in 1914 after her husband Otto Koehler was shot in a scandalous love triangle. So the story goes, Otto's mistress was also named Emma. Emma Koehler successfully led the brewery through Prohibition and the Great Depression, making her a noteworthy businesswoman in Texas history. I stayed here some time back and am probably due for another visit soon. The hotel building itself was wonderful and the renovation of the Pearl was well executed. The service from the moment of check in was fantastic. The farmers market the following day was well organized with good variety. Hotel Emma... What a dreamy 5-star hotel. Our first actually - and I am so glad it was this San Antonio destination (May 24-25, 2025). I wanted upscale. No pretentiousness. And to be extremely relaxed. Got all of that plus a lot more! All the employees were friendly, quick and attentive including valet, concierge, turndown staff, library bartender, and security guard who had to let us in from the pool. Lol. Apparently the key cards do not allow access back in even a few minutes before closing time at 10 pm. Our room was amazingly clean. Cool Texas decor. Very comfortable beds. My favorite was the steady, strong stream of hot water in the shower. Best shower ever! Coffee service arrived in just a matter of minutes of my calling for it at around 6:30 AM. Shops. Restaurants. Riverwalk all within short walking distance. I could go on, but my photos say it all. My daughters & I loved Hotel Emma & their charming Texas hospitality! read more

We purchased a day pass for the pool. The check in at the reception was great, very friendly and helpful staff. The girls at the food truck were very nice as well. We were however very disappointed in the food. The oysters on the half shell were lukewarm warm served on a bed of salt but nothing was cold. The elote was very flavorful, watermelon salad was underwhelming, it would have been nice if they had added fresh mint to it, hamachi was good as well. We were over charged by $28 and incorrectly charged for someone else's margaritas but the food truck quickly corrected the mistake when brought to their attention. My family had our Thanksgiving meal there. They had plenty of options and several seating times. 1. Fresh seafood bar was 10/10 2. Salad bar 10/10 3. Meat carving 8/10 4. Vegetable entree 7/10 5. Dessert 7/10 Meat was down graded because the roast/prime rib only came medium rare. Asked for a medium cut for my step son and was unable to cut a selection for him Vegetables were standard green bean casserole (4/10), mashed potatoes, corn bread stuffing, Brussels sprouts (4/10) Surprised that there were not sweet potatoes or some more options. Desserts were pumpkin, apple, pecan, chocolate pies but honestly the flavor and crust were not their finest. Service was good but had to wave down a waiter once or twice. One couple got up to get some more food and the wait staff took their table and prepared it for another group. Coffee, tea and water was complimentary all other drinks like sodas, wine, beer, cocktails were a cash bar outside. I have stayed at the hotel and eaten there and the food was 10/10. From the moment you walk in til you leave you are in awe. So much character in one place. I loved every detail of the place. We had lunch at their restaurant with my kids and really enjoyed it. I also stopped by the cafe to get iced coffee and snacks for our road trip. The brookies were delicious so was the coffee. Overall it's a great place to stay while in San Antonio. Fortunately, I have found an amazing Travel Agent who helps me with crazy long weekend's with my honey. Actually, it was a nurse at Austin Heart who shared travel stories while in post op. She mentioned the Pearl District and Hotel Emma. A quick call to Ginger and arrangements were made and off we were a few weeks later. I wanted to stay in one of the Suites with a nice view over the River Walk and boy did they deliver. We stayed in room 651 in a River Suite as they call it. Upon arrival, you cannot deny that the folks that work here are happy with their employer. From the car hop to the receptionist. BTW, only $35 to park a day and they will fetch and park for you all day long and in the evening. Our door hop, made sure we had all our luggage in the trolly and off he went once he obtained our suite number. But for us, we were welcomed into the Library for a complimentary welcome Margarita. The Library is an amazing space which you need a guest key access to enjoy. We kicked back and enjoyed our Margarita while getting our mind ready to play after the drive up from Austin. A perfect start. Ms. Suzie couldn't wait to see our suite, so up we went. Our suite was in the corner of the complex, so it was very quiet our entire stay. Upon entry, we were met with a beautiful view of the city/river walk and a nicely appointed living area with couch and lounge chair. A corridor lead us to the huge bathroom and into our bedroom. The bathroom had a four clawed bathtub that fit a 6'2" beluga whale, me and a large glass shower nook, with plenty of room for 2, if you so desire. Bathrobes were available and all the girlie soapy products a gurl loves. Me, not so much, I like traditional soap bars. Not going to knock them for that. Towels and wash clothes are in abundance. Two separate sinks and mirrors make it easy to get ready to hit the town together. You definitely feel very important and special with the decor in here. The bedroom was equally well appointed with a large TV, chest of drawers and a comfy bed. Very comfy king size marshmallow with lovely linens and lots of pillows. Snooze fest was easy to enjoy. They turned down our room every night we were there, with a wonderful little note from the maids and a macaroon to boot. They also provide a sleep night kit, with something you can spray on your face before hitting the sack. Lost on me, Suzie loved it. Our suite also had some freebie munchies, snacks and water, very nice indeed. The hotel in it's on self is gorgeous. The Lobby bar has massive ceilings and a hoping crowd on Friday/Saturday night, a little more subdued Sunday/Monday. We found ourselves there every evening when we got back exploring the Pearl District and all it has to offer. I would highly recommend taking the personal tour if you are staying, not totally positive if that is available for non-guests. It's worth it. There are few places to get nosh. The Supper restaurant and lobby bar do offer foodstuffs as well as a little grocery store that had made to order sammies as well as various sundries. They do have a retail store to get some souvenirs as one does. Pricey, yes it certainly can be, however you may find some good deals on their website, such as 20% off or something for Texas residents. Sign up to their newsletter since I think you could get some offers in that manner. Never the less, for a special over night treat for your honey pie, you cannot beat this venue. So much to do just within walking distance and enjoy the opulence the Hotel Emma has to offer. PS, they have an awesome pool area to boot. read more

This is my third time to visit hotel, Emma, and each time I like it a little bit more. Of course, when you first come in, you can't help, but be struck by the amazing way that the hotel has been built in the skeleton of the old brewery. The property is absolutely stunning with a perfect balance of present-day luxury with a nod to old time industrial structure. This makes the building feel timeless, which is particularly rare in many Texas settings. This trip was particularly excellent, because of the extra care that the staff took with us. It started with the concierge leading a special treat for my daughter and even a bottle of wine and some snacks since we were in one of the suites. Our service provided us with some incentives to use the local facilities, including, the restaurants and bars. We had dinner at supper, and it was excellent. I particularly think the mixed drinks and quail were particularly interesting. The entire operation is very well run. But I would like to give a special nod to the concierge desk, which is super easy to work with, as they give you a text number to make special requests, such as dinner, reservations, and questions. Gab, Megan, Griselda, and Megan (concierge) and Rea & Natalie (at the front desk) we're all super nice and helpful but so we're the other staff people who made drinks in the library, Alex at the valet and the cleaning staff and others. From the very first moment we reached out and stayed in fall of 2023 to tour the venue to the final goodbyes on our wedding on 4/20/2024, Hotel Emma and every employee we came in contact with provided an unprecedented level of service. We hosted our entire wedding weekend at the hotel and our guests raved all weekend--it's no wonder Hotel Emma is the #1 Luxury hotel. They are unlike any place I've stayed. I have traveled, dined, and visited many many places, and I've never had an experience quite like this!!! The entire hotel down to the details is an experience in and of itself. Meghan, the event/weeding coordinator, is absolutely incredible. We had the pleasure of communicating over a 6-month period and I am so grateful I had her in my corner for the wedding. She will make you feel like her only event!!! A special shout out to our welcome party server/host at Sterinwerith, Patrick. He put up with all of our shenanigans on both nights!! He was extremely accommodating and made all of our guests feel valued. I wish I could remember the name of every person, but I want to make sure management recognizes the valet staff & concierge from the weekend of 4/18-4/21. We were constantly impressed with their service & kindness all weekend, despite all of our wedding happenings and things going on around the hotel. It seemed as if there was something we needed, the staff was ready before we even asked. Hotel Emma provided the backdrop and orchestrated the best day of my life.
