As part of our wedding package, they were incredibly generous and included two complimentary nights at the hotel and dinner at Dorrego's for us to celebrate. They are truly the absolute best at what they do and really know how to celebrate their guests! Returning to the very place where we said "I do" was already emotional enough, but Hotel Valencia somehow made the experience even more memorable than our first stay. From the moment we arrived, the staff was exactly as we remembered them: kind, attentive, professional, thoughtful, and genuinely wonderful. Our room was absolutely gorgeous, and when we walked in on our first day, we found the sweetest surprise waiting for us: a bottle of champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a congratulations message written in chocolate on the plate. I actually teared up a little! It was such a thoughtful and adorable gesture that truly made us feel seen, celebrated, and cared for. There is something so special about Hotel Valencia. The environment is exceptional, the service is always outstanding, and even their gorgeous signature scent instantly brings us back to memories of love, celebration, and adventure. A Wonderful Stay at Hotel Valencia! We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Valencia on the San Antonio River Walk! The location is perfect step out the front door and you're right in downtown San Antonio. From the hotel restaurant, you can take the stairs or elevator directly down to the River Walk, which makes getting around so easy and convenient. What we especially loved is that this hotel has so much character and charm. It doesn't feel like one of those cookie-cutter chain hotels. We had a balcony, although it was simply too hot during our visit to sit outside and enjoy it. I'm sure it would be wonderful on a cooler evening! The bar and restaurant were both excellent, and the entire staff was friendly and welcoming. A special shout-out to the valet guys they provided wonderful service and were always so helpful. This hotel is perfect. First, location is near the river and downtown. You can walk anywhere; there's coffee shops, restaurants and shops. Now if you don't want to walk the hotel has the best restaurants: Dorregos and Acenar. You can not go wrong with the restaurants. The breakfast plates were amazing and the Mexican food was delicious. The employees were friendly and helpful. They knew their jobs and they knew their town so if you need information or advice on where to eat or what to do they will give you great advice. Right on the Riverwalk but away from the crazy noise the Riverwalk can bring! The heart of the Riverwalk is less than a block away if you stay anytime during the holiday season, you will be surprised how beautiful how many Christmas lights hanging create a trip to remember! Clean comfortable rooms, beds are so comfortable, I felt as though I slid in a bed of butter. Pillows were so freaking amazing- I took photos of the labels so I can get the same when I get home! Quiet hallways, no noise and away from the craziness that the Riverwalk can bring. The only issue I had was every time I stay at this hotel, I have to call the front desk to reserve a room that specifically faces the Riverwalk, otherwise you won't know what room you will get. read more

Mixed review. The hotel is nice and clean, but mixed service. There are no refrigerators, so I asked for one for medication. They never brought it, after saying ok. There is some ice in the hallway. There is not daily room cleaning, so make sure you have enough tp and towels to cover your stay. This is a simple fix, and not sure why it is missing. Beautiful place to stay while your in San Antonio Texas. As we checked in we were greeted with margaritas for my wife and myself. The hostess was super friendly with a big smile on her face even helped us with our luggage to the elevator which is uncommon nowadays. The room was super comfortable with a southwestern flare. The hotel is centrally located and is on the Riverwalk of the San Antonio River. We'd love this place so much that we're planning on going back in November. read more

We stayed at Hotel Valencia for a weekend stay downtown and although the hotel is beautiful and the rooms are fabulous, there were a few aspects that disappointed. We had booked a room with a courtyard view and the desk attendant talked us into upgrading to a riverwalk view... which was of an abandoned building covered in graffiti the street over the riverwalk. Sensory nightmare. My husband called months in advance and twice more leading up to checkin to request fragrance free and feather free room. They insisted they could accommodate us. In the lobby for checkin today, I had an instant headache because the fragrance was so strong. At that point they informed us that there is some additional fee per day on top of the already pricey room, a fee that they never disclosed before today. We continued upstairs, and I could hardly breathe in the elevator it was so scented. When we got to the room it was also heavily fragranced. I tried to call the front desk, and the phone in the room didn't work reliably. Our call dropped several times. They offered box fans for us to air out the room. However, when we opened the windows, a blast of cigarette smoke wafted into the room because it is directly above their designated smoking area. We asked the front desk for help, and they said not to worry, hardly anyone smokes in that area. Meanwhile we watched several people out there smoking almost constantly. They offered no other accommodation or help. Not worth it. Very uncomfortable and upset because this will ruin our vacation. Edit: 1 to 3 stars. The manager eventually heard our concerns, responding to a secondary issue with cigar smoke in our room after leaving windows open - their recommendation- to air out the room. They found us a different accommodation and made it more than fair and comfortable. Why not 4 stars? Because it took the entire first day to be resolved. read more

This hotel was such a great choice to stay. It's on the Riverwalk, in a great location, it was clean, and the room was comfortable. The room was spacious, well ventilated, the service while checking in was great, we also had a few drinks at the bar downstairs and it was all a great experience. I don't have any complaints from our short stay, if I'm visiting San Antonio again I will return. read more

This is an awesome hotel! Located near everything! Amazing views and I truly appreciated the high end finishes but the house keeping did fall short... *long sigh* not worth mentioning since the issue was rectified quickly but I had to give the house keeper guidance to be sure to look at the bed coverings cause I did find blood... ok I said I wasn't gonna mention it ... this was a great stay just wished that housekeeping takes better care. If I operated a hotel my housekeeping staff would have to be treated like rare treasure cause it's the most important job of the hotel (in my opinion)! The housekeeping and the dining are always what I look at most critically... attitudes can be over looked but once uncleanliness is noticed it just makes me feel like what else was missed but this place for decor, service and location definitely I'd recommend booking here! This hotel took our reservation but never let us know that they had 3 big events that were loud and took up all the food areas. They also have no parking or care for the customer but they will charge you 64. And change per day. As a customer business they should have also notified us that the city is trashed with construction and the city manager then closes streets for parties and the riverwalk is crowded with buggies and people bottom line you sit in traffic for over two hours and keep hitting road closings, then there is no place to park. The weekend was a bust and I would not recommend it at all to anyone! read more

As frequent travelers who tend to not prioritize our lodging, this specific trip was celebrating our baby moon. I knew I wanted to have a nice hotel experience so I found a mobile deal booking Hotel Valencia. I even splurged and got a king bed with a balcony. We are very impressed when we walked in. We valet parked which was great because you can come and go as you please and just request your car when you want it about 15 mins beforehand through a link they send via text. The ONLY downfall was that the WiFi was down so I couldn't connect to my iPad but we only stayed for one night so it wasn't a major issue. The room was great. Ha slots of lamps for light and the balcony was a city view just before a river walk entrance. We ended up taking a walk down there in the morning which was lovely! But the day we checked in, they surprised us with a complimentary charcuterie board for celebrating our baby moon... we were SHOCKED and so appreciative. We took it to the courtyard and enjoyed this great board filled with cheeses, meats, jam, honey, nuts and fruit. It was the perfect afternoon snack and made our experience that much more special. Overall, this hotel is in a great location to the Alamo, riverwalk, and driving outside the downtown area. read more

We booked a room overlooking the river with a balcony and chairs. When we checked in we went to our room and it was not what we booked. We go back downstairs stairs and tell us they oversold so we upgraded you to a suite . The suite was on the road side so noisy that we thought a window was open. When I asked about our original room they said they did not have any. So instead of arguing we took the room . In the morning we head out to do some things . We return a few hours later to our room still not serviced or mini bar restocked with drinks and coffee. We call the front desk and they inform us that we should have notified the front desk in the morning that we needed our room cleaned. The entire experience with this hotel was not a good one. I could go on however no need to pile on as it was our one and done with place. Much better places to stay other than the Valencia!! read more

I really wanted to love Hotel Valencia Riverwalk, but this was such a letdown. I booked it as an anniversary gift for my in-laws and even contacted the hotel ahead of time to help make their stay special. Nothing was done, no acknowledgment at all, which was honestly embarrassing since this was a gift. They also mentioned the beds were uncomfortable, the hotel felt overcrowded, and the service just wasn't there. What makes it worse is that we've stayed at Omni La Mansión del Rio before, and they went above and beyond for OUR anniversary. The difference in experience is night and day. I ended up cancelling my own reservation for next weekend on Easter because of this. The aesthetic and online photos look beautiful, but the actual experience did not match at all. read more

We don't even get a mini fridge. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Especially with no pool or breakfast for the price. I booked this hotel for my boyfriend's Birthday and we had an amazing experience ! The Valet Attendants and the front desk personnel were exceptional! We felt super welcomed from the moment we stepped out of our car. This hotel is located right on the river in walking distance from many San Antonio attractions which made our adventure easy and convenient. The ambiance was perfect, our room was inviting and super clean. The bed was very comfortable! Prior to checking in I had called the hotel to see if they could prepare a little surprise for my boyfriend's birthday and the clerk on the phone said she will see what she can do. When we got to our room, we found a super cute plate with a piece of cheesecake on it and a happy birthday note on it. It was so neat! He was so excited! Thank you, Ms. Denise!!! Wow. Hotel Valencia lived up to the many raving reviews I read and more. It is a beautiful and unique building in a great location, and the decor and vibe are wonderful. I found all the staff I interacted with to be incredibly helpful and pleasant at all times. I didn't have a car with me, but the guys at the valet/door were on top of everything happening. I think in my stay I maybe had to open a door for myself once - they were always alert to who was coming and going, opening hotel and car doors for everything, and always friendly. The 2nd floor lobby is a beautiful space with a variety of little seating areas wonderfully decorated. There is always lively music playing, and they even have their own custom scent wafting about (you can buy the candle to take home if you choose). The free margarita on check-in was a nice way to ease into vacation mode. The 3rd floor has a nice little courtyard with some cafe tables and a water/fire feature that is going after dark to make it feel cozy. A great place to sit and relax for a bit after a long day. My king room was on the corner in a little nook, so the room itself had a small hallway and corner that functioned well to diffuse any hallway noise (of which I didn't hear much anyway). The bed was very comfortable. I slept better than at home! I enjoyed the bergamot and tea leaf scented shampoo and soap in the room. Hotel Valencia is in a great location - a number of restaurants within a block, including the hotel restaurant and another in the same building, a Starbucks across the street for those who need that fix, and just a quick set of steps to the Riverwalk next to the building. read more

We wanted to stay close to the Riverwalk during our weekend stay so Valencia met this requirement. A boutique Hotel and described as "Mediterranean inspired luxury" -they didn't disappoint. You had me at the complimentary Margarita during check-in. A nice and appreciated surprise. We got texts shortly after entering our room and throughout our stay checking in to make sure all was okay which was a nice touch. Opted for the Valet parking ($49) although there are offsite self park options. Service of the Valet team was well worth it. We had a Double room with a view of the Riverwalk. Room was spacious and a complimentary bottle of wine was included. Mini Bar/Fridge was included and the room stayed cool despite the triple digit August heat. A good size fitness room that had ample cardio equipment as well weights. Breakfast as well as an Argentinian themed restaurant and Tequila/Mezcal Bar were available. We opted to eat in the surrounding restaurants as there were a few good options. Lounge and restaurant area had a great vibe and they have a nice Courtyard. Service was outstanding! From check-in to Valet and throughout our entire stay. Just steps from the Riverwalk, would highly recommend. read more

Strong recommendation not to stay here. After waiting over an hour after check in we were given keys to a room that we'd not booked. They didn't tell us this at check in. They do not have our room available. They cannot credit the difference until after we check out. So many options for a great stay on the Riverwalk- make sure Valencia isn't your. PS "Roger" the desk manager needs to work on his people skills. We have stayed here before and routinely book on the Riverwalk. As evidenced by the huge numbers of frustrated people waiting in the lobby and bar waiting for a room over 1 hr after 4pm check-in, it seems the property has systemic management issues. Truly disappointing. Had they informed us when we first arrived that they would not honor our room booking, we would have found another property. Waiting until after we checked in and went up to the room to discover the switch was incredibly unprofessional. Also, Roger was spectacularly dismissive and my sense was this is evidently a common occurrence with the property. read more

I've had the pleasure of staying here at least 5/6 times over the last few years, and it's become my absolute go-to hotel when staying in San Antonio. - The rooms are huge, comfortable, and quite luxurious--far more luxurious feeling than what you'd expect from the average nightly rate. - I always try to get a room with a courtyard view. The couple rooms I've stayed at with a (non-courtyard & non-Riverwalk facing) balcony seem to all have huge balconies, but I never actually use it because you're facing other buildings. Other notes: - The bar is top notch and classy, and reasonably priced too. Gorgeous place to grab a nightcap directly on the Riverwalk, and the patio is more in line with street level, so you also views of the Riverwalk. - This seems silly, but the locks and keys this hotel uses has always worked perfectly--never once have I had any sort of issue, which is such an understated amenity tbh. - Valet service is great ($55/per night as of Nov '24) and you arrange for your car via a text link which makes it easy to have it out front waiting for you. Definitely recommend staying here when visiting SA! read more

Our room was downgraded to a regular room from a suite with a living area WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE. They said NOTHING when we checked in. When I entered our room I knew it wasn't what I reserved. I went to tell the Hotel staff and they apologized and said the suite I reserved wasn't available. Manager wasn't even available to even come speak to us. They said they would discount the room blah blah blah. So not wanting to further ruin our vacation, I said ok. My wife was very upset and went down to the front desk and further complained and guess what? Suddenly, magically, the suite I had reserved became AVAILABLE. Imagine that. They said there would be an hour or two wait while they got our suite ready. So we walked to the Tower of Americas to eat. Low and behold I get a text while we are eating that they NEED the room that our luggage is in so we need to get back asap or they are gonna move our stuff for us. Suitcases were open etc and we didn't want hotel staff in there at all packing our things back up and moving them. Really? So we get back as quick as we can and got moved to to the suite we should have been in in the first place. They offered us a measly $60 credit for room service or the restaurant and I said "ok" because, again I didn't want our vacation to be ruined any more or end up in jail. Then of course when I got the receipt for our stay guess what? NO $60 credit for anything. Add to that the Ice machine was broke and remained so for days even after I let them know. And the shower leaked water all over the bathroom floor making for a dangerous situation. So you know what? We WILL NEVER STAY IN YOUR HOTEL AGAIN. AND I WILL POST THIS REVIEW IN EVERY POSSIBLE PLACE I CAN FIND. read more

We stayed here over St Patrick's Day weekend while visiting San Antonio. What a treat! The hotel has a lot of character and charm. Service was very good, and the staff was very professional. The restaurant left a little to be desired at breakfast; food was lukewarm and table service wasn't the greatest, but the restaurant left of the hotel made up for it. The bar/coffee area near the main desk had an awesome happy hour with $5 margaritas and plenty of other options. In the morning they serve a cinnamon roll as big as your head and the coffee was hot and delicious. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. My wife said the bed was one of the most comfortable she'd been in for some time. Location is perfect; just steps from the River Walk and within walking distance to many of the local attractions to include the Alamo. We will absolutely be staying here again! read more

Late night check in after a long drive. The lady that checked us in was super sweet and everything was smooth as silk. She kindly advised us the bar was open until midnight if we were hungry or wanted a drink. We stopped in and Jenny took great care of us! Had a drink and a snack and felt so much better! By the time we arrived in the room, Luis had dropped everything off. We were able to get our things out and fall into bed! We are early risers so it was a bit of a bummer nothing was available in house when we got up at 6. It would have been nice to be able to get some coffee. Yes, there are Keurigs in the room but we are snobs and wanted espresso. Got up and dressed and headed out for coffe and breakfast. Luckily there are lots of options downtown. When we got back we saw the sign about specialty coffees and tried to stop and grab one. It was just before 8 by then. Unfortunately the guy seemed to be having some issues and said he wasn't open. I really don't understand coffee shops that open so late! You get up and you want coffee! Overall stay was amazing and staff were super friendly and helpful! We plan to visit again! read more

We booked a room last Friday night for a one night stay in SA- myself, and three friends (it was a birthday). The friend that booked it is some sort of priority level through her credit card, so we were hoping for the free room upgrade and the requisite free bottle of wine. The wine, we got, the room upgrade we did not. It says it is subject to to availability, but funnily enough, we got email marketing materials THAT day asking us to PAY to upgrade the room. Let's assume some other people bought all those upgrades then. Check in was smooth, the hotel is very gorgeous, and the margs were a hit at the front desk. The valet and bell boy staff was a highlight- so nice and attentive throughout the stay. Our room was pretty, fine, had no issues with it. I do wish overall the hotel had a clearer way of directing you out on to the riverwalk- we didn't know we could go out onto the balcony bc the restaurant was closed (it was like 11:30PM) and ended up walking all the way around. Our dissatisfaction comes in after we returned for the night, around 1 am. Now, we are four grown women. When we got back to the room, we turned the TV on as we got ready for bed and had YouTube playing. We were NOT blasting the TV by any means, in fact, I don't know if anyone ever touched the volume from whatever it was set to upon turn on. We were all in our pajamas, in bed and fell asleep with the TV on. Sometime around 3 am, we are woken up by POUNDING on the door, POUNDING- 1,2,3. I wake up and I'm like, did I imagine that? Was that our room? So I don't say anything. 2 minutes later- POUNDING ON OUR DOOR AGAIN, 1,2,3. Now, everyone wakes up and we are terrified, like who is pounding at our door? Sorry not sorry, I don't trust anyone and I'm not opening the door for anyone. So we are all sitting there scared, whispering to one another should we go look through the peephole. But we don't hear anything else and after 5 mins or so we say okay whatever and try and go back to sleep. After another 5 minutes- POUNDING again!! 1,2,3! So now I am scared and aggravated and I get up and look through the peephole and there is was looks like a female hotel employee outside the door. I turn to my friends and say I think it's the hotel, why are they here? I see her, through the peephole, dial what looks like a phone, and as I say to my friends, I think she is calling the room our room phone rings. I race over and answer it immediately and say hello? And I get hung up on. So I walk back over to the door- the employee or who looked like an employee is gone. And that was it. We turned off the TV now realizing it was on and went to sleep. We check out early the next morning and hate confrontation so I didn't ask, but SOMEONE tell me why we are woken up at 3 am by pounding on our door. Our only guess is the TV, and to that I say COME ON! For a hotel that expensive you shouldn't be able to hear a normal volume TV through the walls enough to wake someone up and send them into a rage to get a hotel employee to come to our room at 3 am. And to the hotel- if you are going to send employees to the room, have them identity themselves by talking through the door, or CALL THE ROOM FIRST if you don't want to yell in the hallways! We received exactly one call, in which I was hung up on!! So, thank you so much for scaring us at 3 am, waking us up, and not explaining to us why and ultimately for no reason. read more

absolutely loved this place. We did not valet here bc we had 2 cars and were staying 2 nights.. Lord help me I dont know how pricy that would have been. We parked a block away at Houston St. garage. (or 2nd choice which is the one I wish I had chosen was St. Mary's St. garge) both a 2 min walking distance. I realized the Houston St. garage is mainly used by patrons of the Majestic so we parked on the top floor of that garage and arrived at 7p on a Friday evening. My friend checked in and I wasnt there for that: but she said it was amazing. Everyone treated her so respectfully, walked her to the elevator area, called her by her last name, and really it was the best customer service she has ever had at a hotel. We used the gym Saturday am and all the equipment worked great. We did not dine at the restaurant or get a drink at the bar sadly. I wish we had but we took too long getting pretty to hit up Fan Fair 2024. I love this hotel and cannot wait to return. I will definitely stay here again. There were robes in the room (no house shoes) but there was an umbrella you can borrow. If you leave with it, a $35 fee. Not bad but super convenient. This location is walking distance to everything. the alamo (4 blocks away), La panaderia with its long line a block away, and al revolucion coffee (the best in all of SA IMHO) is also a block away. as well as walgreens with you last minute needs. or snacky snacks. lol. Lots of restaurants and bars and liquor stores also for that matter. voodoo donuts too. only ding they have was there is no pool. sometimes in the summer people want a pool. I dont swim but i like to get in and relax in the shallow end. but its not a deal breaker for me. also, i wish it had a fridge where i can keep things cold for myself. again, most hotels dont have this but even the haunted emily morgan had a fridge (my baby still drinks breastmilk) and if i came with my family this place would be out. so just something to think about. I helped plan an event for the company I work for at Hotel Valencia Riverwalk and I cannot overstate how fantastic it was. The rooms were beautiful and clean, and the event spaces and amenities were perfect for what we needed for our group of over 150! The location is great as well but the best thing about it was the absolute flawless service we received from start to finish. The events staff, catering, housekeeping, AV, servers, front desk and every other person we encountered were exceptional. I travel for my job and I want to say that this hotel was one of the best places I have EVER stayed at. Absolutely gorgeous hotel and I simply cannot say enough about the staff. I've had two great experiences at Hotel Valencia Riverwalk over the years. I would have to say my love for San Antonio is partially credit to this lovely hotel. So what's so great about this hotel? Well, for starters, the location. It's hard to beat being tucked right up against the lush Riverwalk and starting your morning with a walk along the water. It's by far my favorite thing to do while in San Antonio and it's quite convenient to have it at your doorstep. Grab a coffee and off you go! I also love the Spanish colonial design of Hotel Valencia. From the ironwork on the staircases to the fountain as you enter the hotel, there's a moody feel that they've created. I'm also a sucker for the occasional live guitar music in the bar off of the lobby. Way to hit all of the senses. Last but not least, they have great in-house food options that make ordering room service (breakfast, lunch and dinner are available) an extra-special treat. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was during my last visit the bathroom was surprisingly a little on the dirty side. Check-in is at 4 pm. We arrived at 4:30 to be told our room wasn't ready and that it would only be 25-30 minutes. We've now been waiting an hour and 15 minutes and the room is still not ready. Fortunately/unfortunately we were told 20 other people are also still waiting for rooms.... Don't know if we can recommend this hotel because we haven't seen our room. So far we are disappointed with the wait. read more

We have stayed at a few hotels in San Antonio and this is by far, our favorite. The service is great, every staff member we encounter was friendly and very helpful. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms well maintained. read more

We loved our stay!! Very friendly staff. We ate breakfast and got a charcuterie board to snack on later and both were delicious. The hotel smells amazing and the room was perfectly clean. Our new go to for sure! read more

Gorgeous historical hotel in downtown San Antonio. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The staff are beyond friendly and accommodating. Perfect for a conference I just attended. The hotel team and management really are hospitable and look out for the guests. I would stay here again. read more
