Took my boyfriend's parents over to residence inn for their little weekend getaway here in the bay area. It's definitely an accessible place to stay around the peninsula. The bathroom was spacious and PWD accessible, great for my bf's grandmother and amenities were neat and tidy. The breakfast was free and good food was served. It looked like a safe area as well. Parking can be a little tricky if you're located in the back but luckily we were at the front area. There was also a little swimming pool located in the area but we didn't get to try and feel that out. Overall, it's a great place to take guests or host little gatherings. I would recommend staying here again. Only concern is that sometimes, there are very few staff around and they need more lighting at night.

My girlfriend Grace and I stayed here on Friday 7/23 the room was booked till Sunday the 25th but we ended up leaving around 11pm Saturday night. The man at the front desk when we checked in was friendly. I gave it three stars only because when we booked on hotels.com they didn't mentioned a 200 deposit cleaning non refundable cleaning fee if you have pets with you. It's non refundable. I understand when the guy at the front desk mentioned they have to have Stanley steamer come and do a deep clean after someone has a pet stay there but they should mention that on there too. She has different charges on her card but they never sent us a final receipt on what the charges are for. Only receipt was for the pet cleaning deposit. The room was nice when we came in the TV was on so I'm guessing someone didn't turn it off. I made sure to clean up before we left I took all the towels and extra blankets and left it by the door. My gf kept saying that's what the cleaning fee is for because I cleaned the dishes and put them in the dish washer they would just have to run it. They have free breakfast you just tell them what you want on the list and they give it to you. They didn't email us anything or give a receipt there to show what we were charged for the one we have is for the cleaning deposit. I dropped the key off around 11 or so I let the front desk person who was coming in know I put it on the little clear drop box they have. They have a Safeway and Costco by them but you have to have a car nothing is walking distance.

I used to travel to LA for business and stay in Sheraton at least once a month and also tried Fairfield and Marriott. Though they are all owned by Marriott, Sheraton experience was just no match. I thought I wouldn't like any other hotel as much as Sheraton, until I came here. This is my second stay in Residence in San Mateo. Having a pet flea problem at home, I decided to do a deep cleaning+ spray treatment at home and stay at a hotel. Both time we arrived past midnight. Last time was two weeks ago, the front desk was very welcoming, helped me check in, thanked me for being a gold member, gave us welcome bags with snacks and water, room was clean, though to go breakfast was a little disappointing. Second time here today, same front desk helped me check in, extremely kind and welcoming, thanked me for being a gold member, waived parking, told me that they are trying to make things go back to normal: there'll be to go & HOT breakfast tomorrow morning with bacon and eggs and other choices, gave me welcome bags with options: water, sparking water, even white & red wine! There are also Milano cookies and chocolates. So kind and welcoming! Thumb up for another Marriott hotel experience

What began…read moreas an unexpected hotel stay during an extraordinarily difficult period of medical recovery and housing displacement turned into one of the most compassionate hospitality experiences I have ever had. I have significant medical sensitivities and physical limitations, which made my stay far more complicated than an ordinary hotel reservation. I needed unusual accommodations, careful coordination, flexibility, and at times considerable logistical help. Marina, Eileen, and the entire team consistently treated my needs seriously and worked with me rather than making me feel as though I were an inconvenience. What impressed me most was not simply that they were helpful--it was the degree of humanity, patience, and problem-solving they brought to situations that were genuinely complicated. They helped coordinate room arrangements, storage, deliveries, housekeeping needs, and accessibility-related requests while I was recovering medically and dealing with the aftermath of a water/mold problem at my prior residence. There were many moving pieces, and the staff repeatedly went beyond what I would normally expect from a hotel. Marina, in particular, was extraordinarily gracious and solutions-oriented. Eileen was also incredibly kind and helpful throughout my extended stay. The housekeeping, maintenance, and front-desk teams deserve recognition as well. When you stay somewhere for an extended period--especially while ill--you see much more of an operation than the average guest does. I saw people working hard, communicating with one another, remembering details, and trying to make a difficult situation easier. There is a tremendous difference between providing good customer service and actually caring about the person standing in front of you. I experienced both here. I am a longtime Marriott guest, and this stay reminded me that hospitality ultimately comes down to people. A room can be comfortable and a property can be well maintained, but what you remember is how people treated you when circumstances became difficult. The staff at TownePlace Suites showed me exceptional kindness during a period when that kindness mattered enormously. I am deeply grateful to Marina, Eileen, and everyone who helped me. This property has my wholehearted recommendation, particularly for anyone needing an extended stay and looking for a team that combines professionalism with genuine compassion.

Great experience here and definitely would stay again…read more I needed somewhere between SFO and Red Wood City so opted to stay here as it came up in searches as a top place to stay. Ive often liked Hampton Inns as they usually have a pretty decent complimentary breakfast. And these days, need to save every penny! My flight got in at 9am and I wasn't expecting that this hotel would let me check in too much earlier than their 3pm check in but the woman working was super nice and got me a check in at 10am. Sweet! I needed to get some work done so this worked out great! The rooms are nice and seems this hotel newly renovated. The room I was in had small fridge and microwave and was perfect for what I needed. Complimentary breakfast in the morning was excellent. Everything was available here. I had some oatmeal but also saw that brown rice was on offer too. This only the second hotel I have seen this offered. Parking is easy here and also a great shopping center right next door with lots of good eats and grocery too. I'd definitely stay here again! Great hotel that had everything I needed and very reasonably priced!

It was both spotless and surprisingly spacious, making it easy to relax and feel comfortable. One of the standout perks was the free parking, which is always a big plus, especially in this area. Its close proximity to the airport was also incredibly convenient and made travel stress-free. Another highlight was the complimentary continental breakfast included with my stay. They offered a solid variety of options, including hot food, cereals, fresh fruit, breads, and waffles. Everything I tried tasted fresh and well-prepared, which made for a great start to each day. The location was also very convenient, as the hotel sits just behind a strip of restaurants and a grocery store. This made it easy to grab a quick meal or pick up anything I needed without going far. While I didn't take advantage of any additional amenities during my visit, my overall experience was very positive. I would definitely consider staying here again for the cleanliness, comfort, and convenience alone.

Crown Plaza Palo Alto -- Bay Area, y'all gotta do better... but y'all also had some SERIOUS highs…read more Let me start from the beginning. I was looking for a room that could accommodate my family of four in the Bay Area and, even being a Diamond member, finding something that worked was becoming a whole mission. Bay Area, do better! About 24 hours later, I received a call from Ron, who told me he had gotten approval from his manager (I believe it was Isabelle) to help accommodate my situation. I really appreciated Ron actually following up and finding a solution. Then Ron connected me with reservations... And THAT'S where the comedy started. Reservations apparently thought I was lying about my elite status. Not only did they question it, but they actually said it out loud. Whoa buddy... WHERE THEY DO THAT AT?! I disconnected, went into the app, made the reservation myself, then called back to get the upgraded room taken care of. Sometimes you just gotta say, "You know what? Let me handle this." Fast forward to arrival. We pulled up -- and for the sake of the soundtrack, let's just say we were listening to "California Love." Got checked in with nothing but smiles. No silliness. No drama. Just good vibes. Walked into the room, curtains were wide open, the sun was beaming in, and the pool was literally right outside the patio balcony. I'm not gonna lie, I was tempted to hit my best Trey Songz voice: "Diiiive Innnnn... whooaoooooo... SPLASH!" ‍ The room, the view, the atmosphere -- all of it had me thinking, Okayyyy Crown Royal, y'all might have redeemed yourselves! BUT THEN... Somehow, the LAST night of the weekend still had to get shady. My wife and I decided to eat at the hotel restaurant. Looking back, when the server started off the way she did, we probably should've dipped right then. But the hotel experience had been so smooth up to that point that there was no way one person could really flip the whole scene... WRONG!!!! This lady was dissing the restaurant food before we could even properly enjoy it. Saying things like, "I know this isn't five-star..." and basically giving us a whole disclaimer about the food. "No, no, no!" -- in my Dikembe Mutombo voice. My wife insisted we stay, so we did. And honestly, the food was actually pretty nice. The biggest issue wasn't even her poor attitude. It was what happened when we left. Our meal was somewhere in the $60-something range, and somehow the receipt reflected that we had left a tip that we did not authorize. That turned a $60-something meal into damn near a $100 meal. My guy... COME ON NOW. Crown needs a new pawn because she was making all the wrong moves and playing for the other side. The next morning, I went to the front desk to explain what happened. Unfortunately, the response I received didn't make the situation any better. Instead of feeling like my concern was being taken seriously, I felt like I was being made to feel bad for even bringing it up. At that point, it honestly left a bitter taste in our mouths -- and that's probably the most disappointing part. Because here's the thing: the stay was actually going really well. Ron stepped up. The room was nice. The check-in experience was great. The view was beautiful. We were having a good time. Then one restaurant interaction and the way the complaint was handled at the front desk put a cloud over what had otherwise been a really enjoyable stay. So I'm giving Crown Plaza Palo Alto 4 stars, because there was genuinely a lot that I enjoyed. But that last experience definitely needs attention. Ron, thank you for making things happen. Reservations... we need to have a conversation. Restaurant... y'all almost fumbled the whole game. And management -- please look into how tips are being handled and how guest complaints are being addressed, because nobody should leave wondering whether their bill was changed without authorization or feeling uncomfortable for speaking up about it. Still had a good weekend overall... but that ending? Crown Plaza, you were THIS close to checkmate. Still, I feel Crown Plaza deserves another run. We'll be back -- maybe for that bigger upstairs room, this time without the kids! Let's see if we can turn those tables around.

Structural Management Failure in Hospitality & Guest Relations…read more As someone who works in management and supervision, I have a high level of respect for operational excellence. From a facilities standpoint, this property is succeeding--the rooms were immaculate and the housekeeping standards are clearly top-tier. However, there is a glaring disconnect between the quality of the facility and the quality of the leadership in the entertainment venues. I had a deeply unprofessional encounter at the on-site bar that highlighted a total lack of conflict resolution training. I was told I was "blocking a service area" and asked to leave without a single prior verbal warning or a professional request to relocate. When I attempted to engage with the manager, Miguel, his approach was the opposite of what I expect from a leader. Instead of utilizing de-escalation techniques, he was confrontational and defensive. From a management perspective, his conduct was a liability; he escalated a minor logistical issue into a negative guest experience. Furthermore, I observed an inconsistent enforcement of rules that suggested a lack of standardized oversight. Final Assessment: The "hard product" (the rooms) is excellent, but the "soft product" (the management leadership) is failing. Miguel's inability to manage a floor without alienating guests is a training gap that needs to be addressed by corporate. Until leadership in the bar/nightclub is held to the same standard as the environmental services team, I cannot recommend this venue.

When I arrived around 10:00 p.m., I had to go to the front desk to check in. The lobby was packed with guests because Hilton was experiencing a nationwide system outage. After waiting in line, I was informed that the ocean-view room I had specifically selected and paid for had already been given away. Instead of honoring my reservation or offering a comparable solution, I was simply assigned a different room. To make matters worse, the front desk associate told me they would waive my parking fee as compensation for the inconvenience. Later, I discovered that the parking lot is open to the public because it is connected to the oceanfront trail. There is no gate, no parking attendant, no security monitoring the lot, and guests are not charged to park there in the first place. In other words, they offered me something that was already free, making it feel like they were trying to appease me without providing any real compensation. The nationwide system outage was beyond the hotel's control, and I understand that. However, giving away the room I had already selected and paid for, then misleading me into believing I was receiving meaningful compensation when I wasn't, was extremely disappointing. I expected much better customer service and accountability from Hilton. I will be making sure to tell all my friends and family what type of experience I had!

It has a beautiful foyer, great dining area and the front office staff is pleasant. You can't go wrong with the manager's reception nightly with small snacks and two complementary drinks along with the buffet breakfast each morning However, the first evening we were unlucky finding the managers reception so we went to the bar to get a couple drinks, and the bartender was not the most pleasant. He walked away from us when we offered to pay with cash and just said that we don't take cash here and we finally waited and asked for him to please come back so we could order drinks with a credit card he did so with not most pleasant attitude. Another issue on our first day was paying for an "upgrade" to a room smelling deeply of recreational marijuana, which we do not partake in. We are also traveling with a child. We are given furniture that is worn and tattered a bathroom with no stopper and a lightbulb that wasn't working we called maintenance that day my husband left shortly maintenance arrived pretty swiftly however he had to change the bulb and proceeded to leave his tools and ladder in the restroom. I called the front desk to let them know and ask if they speak with the manager, no one followed up with Us quite concerning. I guess the bigger issue is just paying for an upgrade when you feel like it's not even a bare minimum of what your visit should consist of doesn't mean we won't return to an Embassy suites just perhaps not this one.
