If I could rate this place less than one star I would , the customer services for one but the lack of cleanliness is absolutely disgusting. The Better Business Bureau and health department should totally get involved !! My husband and I contracted bed bugs while our stay for two days. JUNE 5th-7th ... The room was nothing like it was presented on the site. It was unkept. The towels and the sheets were stained with yellow looked like pee stains. My husband and I requested extra sheets but we were told housekeeping was not available at 10pm during the night. We were given a blanket to place over the bed sheet instead. Which was very uncomfortable. The fact that my husband and I also slept on top of the bed because of this concern is absurd considering we both still contracted bed bugs. Ana is the rep we spoke with today who is leaving a message for Myra the manager. We hope to hear back from the manager regarding this. We ended up having to go to urgent care at Kaiser Permanente, the exam from my doctor concluded in what turns out to be in fact bed bugs and I have been prescribed triamcinolone aceteonide cream for this reason. I noticed the rash the night before checkout, I didn't think anything of it at first but then it completely started to get worse and spread throughout the week. The lack of care and cleanliness this place presented is just wrong !! When we spoke to Ana the rep today she seemed defensive as she was the one who checked us out , making it her business to specify that she's been working here a long time and has never encountered an experience as such which I doubt and she even made a comment that we did not mention it when we checked out as if we are fabricating this story. Let me make this clear we live in so cal inland empire at that. So we were visiting San Fran, this trip that turned out to be a disaster was actually a business trip. Very unfortunate the lack of accountability & we will be looking forward to speak with the general manger as I have been told by Ana that she left a note for the manager to call my husband and I back. We didn't come with bed bugs .. so why did we leave with them ??? Absolutely disappointed and discussed as a person who took the time to clean the room up to the best of my ability with sanitizing fabric spray / wipes. The place is not at all what it Intels online. I am just glad kaiser reported it as bed bugs instead of scabies or any further infection that has been the biggest relief. If you're OCD , you won't enjoy the stay as the towels too need to be replaced, and not just rewashed. I had a change in flight and a 12 hour layover during the day. I had called this hotel to see if I can check in early before I booked. The person at the front desk said "yes that won't be a problem". So I then proceed to book this through Hopper. I come to The Hotel around 10:30 a.m. And let the woman at the front counter know that I am ready. She then tells me that checking in early will cost an additional $25. I then asked her why she didn't tell me this over the phone before I had booked. No comment from her side. Comfortable stay at the Dylan Hotel. I like the quiet property, which has easy parking (included in room fee.) Rooms are kept updated, some a little newer than others. My room with a balcony was bright and pleasant. The room prices are somewhat reasonable since there aren't a lot of freebies, and I don't really miss them. No free breakfast or lunch. This is a great place to stay if you want a clean, roomy hotel with a comfy bed at half the price of the Marriott. It is an old Best Western Hotel that has been well-maintained. It is old and the architecture shows that, especially among the new buildings nearby but we were impressed with how clean it was, how comfortable the bed was and how large the room was. We also had a maintenance problem and the maintenance guy was at our room in 5 minutes! The front desk staff were super friendly; they emailed us the day before and advised us to get a cab or take the Bart to the hotel rather than Uber or Lyft because of the expensive airport service fees they charge. They also booked us a cab to get us back to the airport leaving at 3 am and it was there with no problems. read more

I had a nice 2 night stay at this hotel in early June 2025. It's right next to the airport which was convenient, and not too close to where you hear planes. This hotel is in a nice area too and is walking distance to many restaurants (mostly Asian/Chinese food). It's also walking distance to the train station if you're looking to go Into the city. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. The bathroom was nice with a tile walk in shower. Staff were friendly. The lobby has a cool wine tap with 4 different bottle flavors to choose from, and if wine isn't your thing then they have other liquors/beers as well-- all reasonably priced too. The ONLY thing I would complain about that keep this hotel from getting 5/5 is that there was no refrigerator in my room... Overall a 4/5 and I will stay here again if I'm in the area. read more

The Hotel is retro cute.... Nicely furnished and clean, but the bed was lumpy, old, and noisy. The sheets were thread bare on the edges and very worn. Did I mention they were worn out? Did they take all of the Hilton's old Sheets at a bargain rate???? So bad! All it would take are some new mattresses and even fairly new sheets on the beds..... Maybe management will see this. I hope so. Otherwise in a very good location, near all kinds of restaurants and grocery stores. One other thing worth mentioning is that there was no mini fridge..... I usually don't write bad reviews and after previous experiences, I now try not to use emotions when writing them either. My family will visit San Francisco a few times a year and I found this place to be the closest to where they visit. They usually have a good time but mainly because they just sleep here and don't hang around the hotel much. My biggest concern was how EVERYTHING in the rooms costs money if misplaced or not found. This goes from tiny bottle openers to their bleached bathrobes. Warning: So if you have misplaced anything or if the items are missing and you don't inform them the day of, they will charge you after you check out. For example, we didn't get our bath robes back after they cleaned the room on day 1. So we didn't say anything since we assumed we don't get those back if we used them. On checkout day we were charged 160$ for the missing bathrobes! I called the day of and each passing day and unfortunately the manager is busy dealing with another customer complaint or isn't around. The front desk doesn't seem to communicate well with the others and blames the charges on several reasons such as housekeeping put it in so they just charge it and can't do anything, housekeeping only cleans once every 3 days so they couldn't have cleaned our room (which isn't true the housekeeper was at our door and even asked when she can come in to clean), housekeeping will need to investigate because they don't know anything about it, and they weren't able to communicate to the manager as they don't know what to do. They also didn't mention until day 4 of following up that the manager is only present in the morning and not around after lunch. The rooms are as simple as it gets and nothing special. They start cleaning rooms from 7am up to check in time (2pm). It is not true that they clean the rooms every three days because the housekeeper was at our door at 8am asking when we will be out so she can go in to clean. The microwave we have uses a knob to turn for the timer and heat level. It was old and a bit dirty. The fridge was okay, kept things cool but also a bit dirty. The tv was a smart tv, but we noticed that people were logged into the tv subscriptions (Netflix, etc.) so don't be surprised if your login has more people added in! The TVs won't be restarted after you check out so you might want to log out before you leave. There's a 25$ fee if you come before check in time. So if you have luggage with you, be careful leaving them in the car for a long time or you can ask/pay to have them keep watch (but I wouldn't trust them). The parking spaces are super small and sometimes you might park next to a car and you can't get in because they parked too close. Lots of people walk by the streets and since it's a quiet and semi dark street, your car is vulnerable to be broken into. Even shops nearby will place warning signs that cars have been broken into so drivers beware! Unfortunately, with how badly managed this place is, doesn't offer hot breakfast and bagged boiled eggs were 2$, everything misplaced will cost money even if you didn't take them, your cars will be parked in a lighted lot until someone parks and closes you in, and no one communicates with each other on how the place is run, it's at least close to the airport.... read more

As a first timer to the Bay Area, this was a trip I will never forget. I flew in from Illinois for da Bears vs. 49ers game, and The Dylan Hotel at SFO made everything easy and comfortable. The bed was super cozy, the record player in the room was such a fun touch, and I loved having reusable water bottles waiting for me with a filling station right by the ice machine. The lobby snacks throughout the day and the great coffee every morning were a real treat. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. Everyone made me feel welcome and taken care of, which meant a lot being far from home. The location is fantastic. It is right by SFO, but I never heard any planes. Getting around was simple too. We almost paid $50 for a long Uber ride, but taking the train instead cost $12.50 and got us there in under 40 minutes. It was also easy to hop on BART into San Francisco and Caltrain to Levi's Stadium to see da Bears take on the 9ers. If you are looking for a friendly, comfortable place near the airport that still feels personal and quiet, The Dylan is the spot. I would absolutely stay here again next time I am in town for a game. Unfortunately this stay turned into a nightmare solely because of the rude, aggressive, condescending and insulting manager who refuses to provide her name so who knows if she is even within management. The person declined to speak to any other superior including the owner. I located the owners emails and with each reply this employee would remove them from seeing how unprofessional she was. I will now have to dispute a charge they refuse to close out. Now that this was brought up they want to charge for their employees mistake after the fact because I've requested a refund. The boutique feel of this hotel isn't worth the ratchet ghetto interactions you are forced to deal with in reference to staff. Wendy is the worst host! Let me tell you she spoilt our evening and yelled at us. We checked in at 4 pm and went out for dinner and used the bathroom, the bathroom and plumbing lines are weak and it clogged the bathroom, when we complained to her she yelled at us and said she cannot offer another room nor refund, she gave us a plunger after requesting her for 15 mins and still the bathroom failed to unclog. She then said she can provide a refund and when we went to the front desk, she said she has another room available, by that time we just wanted to leave. Again she raised her voice at us and told to get out and cannot speak with us, the hotel management should fire her for such a rude and despicable behavior, also the fun part is we are still not sure that we were refunded. read more

I stayed at the Dylan at SFO the night before an early international flight and was very pleased with my hotel stay! The Dylan at SFO was very reasonably priced even though it was a very close uber to SFO. The hotel doesn't offer free breakfast, but does offer very clean grounds, lots of parking, decently sized rooms with balcony's, and a nightly happy hour. At check in, the staff was very friendly and was open to sharing food recommendations in the area. There are a bunch of food places walking distance to the hotel and others a short uber away. The Dylan provided me with a list of restaurants in the area. I will definitely stay at the Dylan at SFO next time I have an early morning flight out of SFO. One thing to note, since the hotel is close to the airport you can hear the airplanes lane in early morning hours. read more

I booked this pet-friendly hotel because I have a cat. When I tried to check in, the woman at the front desk, her name is Wendy, she bluntly told me that cats were not allowed and that it was dogs only. I pointed out that the hotel's website didn't say "dogs only," and she replied, "Normally, pets = dogs." My friend, who was with me, said, "If it's dogs only, you should state that clearly on the website. Cats are also pets." At that point, she actually told us, "Get out!" She then started yelling, "I can refuse to let you stay! You're going to complain to the hotel after this anyway!" She called the hotel owner to confirm the situation, but it backfired on her because the owner allowed the cat--as long as we put a sheet on the ground for it. After the call, she tried to excuse her behavior by saying, "I wasn't being mean. I'm not a native English speaker, you understand? Normally, if you're bringing a cat, you should call before making a reservation." That's not the point. I don't know how many times my wife and I have gotten reservations at a hotel/motel that sounded great on paper and turned out not as special as we thought. Finally we are staying at a place that I could easily call a FIVE STAR property--Dylan Hotel in Millbrae, CA. It's close to S.F. Airport but you don't hear any of the planes taking off or landing. -the staff is there to help you; and they do (special shout out to Wendy at the front desk) -hot water, great layout for the toilet/sink and adjacent table top for his and hers bathroom ablutions -big TV that's the right distance from the bed to watch -wall of glass (with slider for more fresh air on demand) so the room feels bigger than it is, double pane glass to reduce/block out any sounds - microwave (for popcorn), refrigerators for special drinks any time you want them (you buy and bring them) -two blocks to BART and Caltrain to get just about anywhere in the Bay Area We both usually work some on our vacations and there were two table tops for our separate computers, with light nearby for added help at night, two superb chairs for relaxing or reading a book. Enough space so we didn't feel cramped and claustrophobic. This hotel is quiet and the people staying here all seem several cuts above the average. Modern design with not a lot of junk added to make the place "look" better. Lots of artistic touches throughout that really elevate the experience. They have a courtyard nestled in the middle of the property away from noise, buffered with star jasmine on a trellis creating a wall of green with scented white flowers, soft cushion outdoor furniture, murals on the wall and more. Rooms even come with a turntable and some vinyl LPs to enjoy. This is a one-of-a-kind special hotel that we will come to the next time we are in the area. Now the details of my one night stay, May 17, 2025 I use a cane to walk. The main door is locked in the evening, you have to call staff to open it. The only other entrance opens with a room key, but has several stairs at a sharp incline leading to the elevator. Risky for me and impossible for a wheelchair. They put me on the third floor, and the next morning the elevator was out. Had to wobble down the stairs to retrieve some help. Needless to say, checked out then and there. Had booked for six days, at what turned out to be their premium rate, because NOTHING in the ads conveyed that this was a MOTEL. Hint: They didn't even have either a refrigerator or microwave! That only came with a $25 extra charge. For a fridge and microwave! Did a little research and couldn't find a single hotel, motel or inn that didn't have one in the room. I was there, as many visitors are to Millbrae, to visit the Colma cemeteries one city over. Because the ads told me so, I believed the Dylan was a boutique hotel with nostalgic touches of the 60s. The ideal spot, so I imagined, to return to after a day of somber reminiscence and family dynamic. Also, I'm a huge Bob Dylan fan. Folks give me Dylan stuff for gifts as a reliable fallback. So my imagination went there , right away. Felt the Dylan vibes through the booking app. It was kismet. See how that turned out. They charged me $180. The front desk said sorry we don't have any left and you won't be charged. Next morning we checked out and they stated we still would be charged because we had a fridge and microwave in the room! Avoid this place - unsafe, rude staff, and deceptive charges I stayed at Dylan at SFO for one night (April 19-20, 2025), and it was one of the most distressing hotel experiences I've ever had. First, they tried to charge me $25 for early check-in even though I agreed to check in at 2 PM. Then they charged me $11 for parking, even though the listing said parking was included. I received two validation slips, parked my car, and went on with my day. When I returned from dinner, there were no parking spots available. I asked the receptionist, and she rudely yelled at me, told me to park on the street, and kicked me out of the lobby. Later, when I asked about an overcharge on the vending machine, she told me, "I'm done answering to you" and continued to be hostile. Even worse, another staff member denied I was ever charged for parking, calling me a liar--despite my card being charged and proof in hand. They kept changing their policies and tone as they saw fit. Athis experience was physically painful and emotionally exhausting. I was so disturbed by the receptionist's aggressive behavior that I couldn't sleep, genuinely afraid she might harass us further. This hotel does not feel safe or professional. I would strongly warn others to avoid staying here--there are better and more respectful options nearby. The Dylan at SFO has become my favorite accommodation while I'm in San Francisco. It's perfectly situated between San Francisco and San Jose. It's close to freeways. Easy to find. Safe neighborhood. A grocery store across the street. And many Asian places to eat. I happened upon it by accident and so glad I did. It would classify as a boutique hotel. The layout of the hotel was modern but comfortable. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. 24/7 coffee and beverages available in the foyer. And, don't forget--FREE PARKING FOR GUEST!!! The room was clean, stylish, private, and quiet. Usually with a older establishment, the wall are paper thin--but not the Dylan. Cute retro hotel near SFO. Lobby area is very nice. The registration people were all very nice. We stayed there in particular fir the long term parking. It's secure in a small locked garage. Minus one star because it's a tad noisy (right off the CalTrain line) and difficult to find. The shuttle is not a standard hotel shuttle, pretty sure it's just a city bus. We had a lot of luggage so they called a cab for us. We walked to the diner around the corner fir breakfast. Very tasty but forgot to use our room key for the discount. What makes the dylan great is that it is 1 Bart stop from SFO. The 292 also stops in front too. Beds are super comfy and staff here is great. Flip side is that it's a motel that seriously needs a facelift. Concrete stairs are well worn, elevator that jostle, small motel rooms, no free breakfast compared to all the other motels in the same street. I'm definitely recommending this lovely hotel in Millbrae. Very conveniently located by SFO and connecting trains Bart and Caltrain. Very professional and fun staff that are so on their game! Every aspect of this facility is run perfectly. Maintenance, housekeeping and intake. Rooms are nice and cozy and very, very clean and comfortable. I seriously didn't want to leave! lol! My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway and overall we enjoyed our stay. It's close to a lot of restaurants and stores if you want a late night snack. I personally didn't interact with any of the staff, but my husband said he didn't encounter any issues. Our room was nice and we liked how close we were to the parking, though the parking was kind of tight and limited. We had a microwave and a mini fridge as well as a vinyl record player which was a nice touch. The only thing I would say is that there was a weird smell when you walked into the lobby and it didn't seem to go away during our whole stay. Also, our room wasn't 100% clean when we got there (we arrived around 9pm). There was a pair of socks in the nightstand and random face towels on the chairs. We didn't know if these were clean or not so we didn't bother touching them. But overall it was definitely a nice, convenient place and we would stay here again. read more
