A place to stay, great. Not a great place to stay. I'll start off with the good, then I'll work my way to the bad. Neither too many bad or good things just straight to the point. Pros: Staff- friendly and helpful. Made sure we were alright and good mornings in the morning instead of the burning side eye silence you get when passing some people by...no? Just me? Got locked out of my room (by my wife, cause she locked the deadbolt.) no fault on their end but the desk worker was polite and understanding. Breakfast- My favorite, free-ninty-nine. Enough said. Just kidding because it could have been very plain or one selection but the breakfast and the staff were great. Now to the cons To give context I am a heavy sleeper, let me give you an example: My family and I were in old orchard beach in maine. Behind the place we stayed there was a train, everyone's nightmare. Each morning someone in my family said how it woke them up 2-3 times. First day I was like "there's a train behind us?" Sure enough look out the back bathroom window and I could jump to the tracks. Okay enough context, I am a heavy sleeper. I have never been woken up so many times in the night. This place's A/C is locked behind a door in the "master" and is loud as all ****. This alone has ruined the stay here, I do not understand why it is so loud. Don't get me started on the "well behaved" dog. YAP YAP YAP!!! Behaved my behind. AT 5A.M. Continually going unaddressed. Save yourself the headache, go somewhere else. One star because if you can't sleep why stay there no matter how nice staff is, i will not be staying again. read more

They turn off your AC at night. In August! That's right no AC, no fan, no nothing. It is miserable trying to sleep here at night. The room got up to 79 degrees and there was nothing we could do to get the AC to come on. Every night at 1am it turns off and will not come back on till 6 or 7 am. I can't believe after we pay 120 to 150 a night that we cannot have the AC on. I am recommending to my company that we do not book this hotel in the future. It is a shame because the rooms are nice and clean, lots of desk area to work and plenty of USB plugs. These are the reasons that a one star was not warranted. read more

A typical Marriott property, very clean and well managed. We had an efficiency studio with a single queen bed and sleeper sofa which accommodated our small family very well with a small kitchen and full size refrigerator which we always need on vacation. Breakfast is served daily with eggs, potatoes, sausage and either biscuits, pancakes or french toast sticks. You can even make your own fresh Belgian waffle. Since we were there on the weekend, we missed the late afternoon manager's receptions which listed some nice snacks bordering on meals like spaghetti & meatballs, nachos and buffalo wings. The location is just off I-91 and is convenient to a lot of restaurants (Outback, Chili's, IHOP), shopping (Kohl's, Costco) and sights (Springfield museums, Basketball Hall of Fame). We would definitely stay again if we're in the area. read more

First evening car alarm went off outside our window for 10 minutes at 10 pm. That they couldn't help. Approximately every hour the pipes in the walls sounded like an alarm as I'm guessing water rushed through? At 10 am the fire alarm went off and we were told it was a false alarm and we could return to the building. Meanwhile the alarms were still going off and I'm pretty sure it's a liability to not wait for the fire department. Last night guests were yelling and screaming at 1 am in room next to us (to their credit they did address this and the people quieted down). Pipes still screamed every hour. The fire alarm just went off AGAIN. read more

I want to first start by saying Beverly at the front desk needs to work on her customer service skills! She is very rude and needs to be retrained! Housekeeping service at this location is nonexistent. I have walked down the staircase to see empty beer bottles and dead flies in the windowsill. Oh and if you have trash be prepared to take it down yourself. There are housekeepers there but are too lazy to take the paying customers trash! The hotel it's self is in a seedy area behind a trash motel. Hey don't waste your time going off of the photos. Go a few miles away and stay somewhere better. You also will have to take your wash towels down stairs every time you want them replaced! They will not bring them to your door. read more

I needed to stop from my drive from New Jersey to northern Mass and Marriott reservations gave me this hotel as a recommendation. The hotel is convenient, directly across from the freeway. It is difficult to find without a GPS. The property is dated and what you would expect from a Residence Inn. I'm not sure why, but every time I use the stairs at Residence Inns, it has a odor to it. I believe people may smoke in the stairwell. The property could use a upgrading. For what it is, the furniture is well kept and clean. The gym needs a little improvement. It was very cramped and the dumbbells only went up to 30 pounds. The flat bench needs to be changed for one that can incline. The water takes a bit to warm up, don't hope in right away unless you want a cold blast of water. The blow dryer is the standard wall mounted one. If you want to be in and out for business, give yourself a little extra time to get ready. I was able to hear neighboring rooms and a dog barking in the evening. I was afraid that I would not be able to sleep, but I was not disturbed by any noise while sleeping. Depending on the rate, I would need to consider staying here again. The staff is friendly which is a big plus. read more

BED BUGS!!! That's right!, I said BED BUGS!! I "Stayed" here June 2017. I was actually a regular at this hotel when I had business in town. The staff offered me another room, but I just couldn't stay there after finding out this place had bed bugs! I've been itching all day, and feel completely on edge bc I'm worried that this nightmare might follow me home!! I honestly don't think I can stay in another hotel again with doing a full inspection, which is extremely draining. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy bc it's completely affected my mentality of staying at hotels... Paid and reserved for a "Larger Studio, 1 King" room but they gave us a "1 Bedroom Larger Suite, 1 Queen". They thought we would not notice the smaller bed and lack of a fireplace. Did they make it right, no! Did they even offer to refund us for our more expensive room, no! I was told to except it or leave. We also requested a roll away. I even called a head of time. I was told no problem even with our late arrive. After a long day, we arrived to no roll away and a smaller room. The couches do not fold out to a bed. There is no manager on duty and they will not call one. read more

We stayed here for three nights beginning on Thanksgiving night into Sunday. We were in town for the holiday and our son was playing in a three-day hockey tournament. The hotel is just a short trip to the ice rink. When I checked in Thanksgiving night, the staff provided me with a room upgrade at no additional cost! I went from a one bedroom suite to a two bedroom suite! Very nice touch! The room was clean and certainly enough space for two adults and one child. I noticed that the paper towel holder in the kitchen was not screwed in place on one side. I mentioned it to the maid who had arrived at our room to clean. When I returned later in the day it was fixed! Water pressure in the shower was nice and strong. Some downsides to the room - it could use some furniture upgrades - not a big deal but it looked like some pieces have seen better days. Some of the room's wall paper and paint were in need of a touch up in certain sections. Some things to consider for upgrades include the convenience of a coat rack near the door entrance as opposed to the room closet. Also, it would be nice to have outlets built into the base of the nightstand lamps for easy device charging. I had to unplug the alarm clock so I could charge my phone. A continental breakfast was included from 7:00-10:00 AM. Standard fare included scrambled eggs, sausage patties, home fries, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, fruits, assorted bread/bagel and juice/coffee water. Also free newspapers were available. Something for everyone! The pool area was a decent space with tables and chairs. Pool was average sized along with a nearby jacuzzi. I did not use the gym but heard it was small but functional. The common area was relatively small but nicely staged with a big flat screen TV, fireplace, tables and lounger chairs. This is a pet friendly hotel - I didn't hear any noisy 4-legged or 2-legged guests during my stay. All of the staff, front desk, food service and cleaning were very friendly and helpful. The staff allowed the boys to play knee-hockey in the conference room which was a great piece of space for them to be loud and play their games without (hopefully) disturbing the other guests. While the weather was not super warm, the hotel did have a nice tennis court and outdoor patio for use during warmer weather. It is located near many shops and restaurants. The location, while not the fault of the hotel, it quirky and difficult for a GPS to locate. Once I found it, the remainder of the stay was simple in and out. Overall, a very nice stay staffed with caring, attentive and friendly employees. I would certainly come back to this hotel. read more

We just checked in to a room that cost us 217 per night and it s a dump. Stay at motel 6 it's better. How Marriott can put its name on this hotel is appalling. Was told i was in the room too long to reverse the charge (5 whole minutes). Was told they are renovating the 4th floor. Doesn't explain why they didn't vacuum the hall or elevator. The beds are so soft it feels like the mattress is 20 years old. Very disappointed. read more

We have just had the WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE at this property. We booked our room well in advance and there WAS NO INDICATION at the time of booking that there was a ridiculous "pet fee" which was akin to highway robbery $125.00. The front desk staff basically had the attitude of "take it or leave it" and we had no choice other than to sign a waiver or seek out another hotel which was near impossible at that late stage. The management were contacted after the fact and all they can say is "going forward we are not accepting animals" and have washed their hands of their extremely poor treatment of their customers. I recommend you take your business to another hotel that demonstrates ethical practices, non-deceptive marketing, good customer service and admits that they should have fully disclosed all fees IN ADVANCE (not just pets accepted) and "made things right" for their customers. read more

01:00 and the fire alarm is going off. The staff seems clueless as to how to respond. This place seems to need updating in so many ways.

I can't even believe that after complaining to the front desk about the amount of dust that was blowing on me all night that caused me respiratory issues , and showed them photos , I did not receive a phone call from a manager. I was assured "Anna" would call me , but she did not. How can any establishment have that disgusting of a system and not care? I've stayed at Marriott properties over 70 nights this year , perhaps I should reevaluate my loyalty ... read more

Hotel has undergone renovations and breakfast area is nice. Room was clean although there was a slight musty smell. Our two biggest complaints : 1. They now charge a $10 per car parking fee!! This is ridiculous and they need to rethink this. Hotel rate is higher than most in the area already. Include parking rather than nickel and diming. This was a topic of conversation between 3 families at breakfast. 2. No more hot tub in the pool area. Disappointing as we stay here twice a year after golf tournaments and that was a nice amenity. This was our go to hotel for the past 4 years, the parking fee will certainly be enough to make us explore other options as it's just tacky. read more

We have stayed here 4-5 times over the past couple years and overall its not bad. The front desk people seem to be friendly and polite. The building and furniture seem to be getting a little tired and should be replaced. The free breakfast (eggs and sausage) were not very good but for free I don't expect award winning quality. We would stay here again but if another option was available we would consider it. read more

My family and I stayed here for 3 days, the staff were friendly, and hard working. The maid took extra care to make both rooms perfect. My only complaint was the pool and Jacuzzi could have been cleaner and the overall hotel more updated. Nevertheless, our stay was comfortable. read more

This place has really gone down hill. This used to be the only place we ever stayed when we came to visit family. It's been 4 years since our last visit, and it really took us by surprise. The building is in much need of a facelift and the furniture should all be replaced. We stayed in a 2-bedroom unit, and both beds sank in the middle. The armchair in our sitting area was very damaged and stained. The entire building had a bad odor. I can't understand why Marriott has not addressed these deficiencies except that maybe this location is on the brink of being sold. We usually stay at Marriott properties when we travel; but rest assured, we will NEVER stay at this location again! read more

This place is a dump. Surprised at Marriott they usually run quality properties. Overbooked and late check out created a significantly longer check in. Not cool. Waited two hour for our room. No choice had to stay. Never again. They did adjust the room cost for the inconvenience. read more

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. My cousins and I met here and we came from Florida, Connecticut and me from DC and it was awful. The staff were extremely nice but the hotel was more like a motel pass-by motel. From the appearance on the outside it looked nice and clean but inside it was very bad. The elevators were rough and felt like we were going through a tunnel, the room service absolutely suck unless you called and asked for something such as everyday towels. We had a suite and prior to ope opening the couch bed we noticed how extremley filthy it was. The mattress was extemely dirty and had red stains on the bed and a hug red blood-like stain on the head of the mattress. It reminded me of watching Investigation ID where they're trying to find out about a murder. My family and I immediately complained to the assistant manager about how they could have a mattress and a couch so dirty for guests. They did bring a roll away bed and took the bloody-like mattress the next day. My total bill was around $600 and they only compensated $80. Even the staff whonsaw it was disgusted at the hugs stains. After putting pictures of our ordeal all over the internet I started reading other reviews and wish I had seen them sooner. The Marriot Residence Inn in West Springfield Massachusetts is the worst. I would give it three stars for convenience and location, but the negatives bring my rating down. I stayed here in 2002 for nearly a month when I first moved here. We loved it then, so when we sold our house and moved we figured it would be a good bet again for a few days stay while we wait to move into our new house. It has gone downhill. The furnishings are worn, carpet worn, cabinets stained and worn. I expect a lot better for a Marriott brand. I agree with the other claims of noise. The walls are paper thin. I literally heard someone in the next room snoring. Kids were allowed to run through the halls late at night knocking on doors. 20 year olds coming in late and loud after a night of partying. If the hotel undergoes renovation and management does something about the noise then I will definitely stay here again. read more

Our son got married in Springfield at the Storrowton tavern almost 2 weeks ago. . The staff was very accommodating to most of our guests who were trying to get in early prior to the wedding. Ok so it isn't one of the newest renovated residence inns but the rooms are clean the hotel has a great location right off the highway. It is secluded and surrounded by beautiful woods BUT the best part is the management and staff! I'm checking out today after a 5-month stay! I travel for work. I could have stayed in the downtown Marriott but this was the closest thing to being at HOME. The entire staff welcomes you and makes you feel at home whether you are short stay or long stay. As far as those people who say their room smelled like somebody had smoked in it, all you had to do was bring it to the attention of the management and they would've accommodated you with a different room. Yes there are times on the weekend that there are lots of children staying in the hotel with family and some dogs. Kids will be kids and really they didn't stay up very much past 11 PM. In five months I had one concern to the management staff regarding noise after hours and those were not kids those were young people in their 20s. They serve a mean breakfast every morning that is super fresh and delicious and Monday through Thursday they have an evening buffet that is substantial fresh and also delicious. I would highly recommend this property if nothing more than for the staff and management that makes you feel like you are at home and for me as a traveler that was priceless . Although a long term stay hotel the guests are rude, loud, children run around past 10:00 pm. I have been here for 2 months. The quality of housekeeping is fair, the grounds are poorly kept, the pool area is fair, there is only one computer. The 10 yr olds who come for hockey are rude and not supervised by the parents. There is no supervision of the pool area. I have stayed at many Residence Inns and this is the worst. Management only offers lame "sorry's" and rather than find rooms away from mine on the other 3 floors I am always surrounded by groups. Instead of giving me points I got a 25 food certificate. The Chicopee Residence Inn gives free wash and dryers, little gifts And Points. If I had know that, I would have had my company put me there. If you want a party hotel this is the place to be. The kids take out the lifesaving tubes and play with them. The grounds have dog feces for days that do not get picked up despite the doggie bags displays within inches of the feces. The furniture is old and outdated. There is more but maybe I can go to sleep now. It is 11:47Pm and the kiddies and parent finally slammed the last door. I hope. Oops spoke too soon, 2 more door slams. Another door slam. Weekends are the worst and I try to leave it is so bad. read more

I have to agree with other posters about the bad smells. One of the bathrooms in our room (105) had an unpleasant chemical smell. There were some brown stains on the bathroom wall. There were holes where it looked like screws were removed. The other bathroom had black round marks (not sure what) on the tub. One bed smelled like smoke. The floors in the bathroom were not clean around the edges. We had to move from the 4th floor because we did not feel safe. Ended up on the first floor. Around 12:30am on 1/17/16, there was a whole group of men being extremely loud and swearing in the hallway outside our room. There was no sense calling the front desk, since the nice young man at the desk was not going to be able to get them to quiet down (and I did not want to put him in the position of even having to ask them). After about 5 minutes, they moved on. The walls are also SUPER thin - you can hear everything above you and next to you in other rooms. The pull out sofa was disgusting and had stains on the mattress. The extra bedding had a brown/red stain on it - yuck. We had the front desk replace it. The breakfast was simple and nice, though. We stayed at this hotel years ago (maybe 2008) and it was nice. It is not so nice anymore. read more
