This company is as absolutely terrible. We never saw the same nurse twice, the cna didn't show up as scheduled, the screwed up many orders and didn't even have the name of our funeral home on file even though it had been given to them multiple times. The "liaisons" are basically sales people and the whole thing was awful. Do not reccommend! read more

very disappointed with the residential hospice care services we received at home. The communication was extremely poor, and visits were frequently skipped without any notice or follow-up call. On multiple occasions, staff simply did not show up, leaving the family worried and without support during a very difficult time. Instead of taking responsibility, there always seemed to be another excuse for missed visits and lack of care. Reliable communication and consistency are essential in hospice services, and unfortunately, this experience did not meet even basic expectations for professionalism and compassion. read more

Would rate ZERO stars if possible. My sister had pancreatic cancer. Started hospice care with Residential in April 2025. Care team (nurses, aides, and massage therapist) NEVER showed up when they said they would or just didn't show up. My sister's medications were delivered more often late than on time. My sister went through three weekends with withdrawal symptoms because medication was not ordered when needed. The nurses BLAMED Lisa for not giving enough notice that refills were needed. The nursing staff also repeatedly skipped dressing changes on her blistering feet. It was so painful to see her treated this way. I did not want to disturb her care as far as medical equipment (bed, walker, wheelchair, commode) but finally had to end this awful care. It was truly shameful to treat any patient this way and even worse for end of life care. I changed the care to Apex. They were all wonderful. They provided all the care, medications, and equipment that was needed. (Lisa passed away in July) read more

Non-responsive, incompetent and most people you talk with are borderline rude. Initially we were told to put the magnet with their Emergency number on the fridge and someone would be out quickly. If they even send anyone, it's usually 6 hours later. One nurse linked my father's nephrostomy tube after cleaning and changing the bandage. He didn't urinate for 15 hours and complained about back pain. When another nurse finally got there and unkinked it, his bag immediately filled up with urine. And the social worker is pretty much non-existent. I've left 5 messages for Beth and have yet to get a call back. As of this writing my mother has been waiting for a nurse to get there for 4 hours and now my father is throwing up black vomit. Spoke with Monica, a supervisor and she still didn't know where the nurse was. The lack of communication is epic. My husband went through hospice earlier this year in Florida and his level of care was phenomenal compared to this place. read more

Elmhurst hospital has a contract with this company. If they suggest Residential hospice please, please find another one! This company is truly awful. There is no communication at all. The "social worker" doesn't help with anything except "resources". Those "resources" were a paper listing the website for government assistance with medical care in case my mom lost her coverage and for the social security website! I got those just from Google!‍ Took three separate visits just to enroll my mom after she came home. Nothing was explained and they dropped off oxygen tanks with no explanation! Finally met the nurse that was supposedly going to take care of my mom. She was supposed to come for 15 minutes once a week! Met her that one time and never saw her again! Supposedly she was sick those 2-3 weeks! No contact or calls, text or call backs from her at all! Had an emergency one night and the male nurse who came was so reluctant to come. He asked me if I really wanted or needed him to come over and see my mom since he was 30 minutes away! Are you kidding me? I called for a reason. He got here and hardly spoke and had an attitude. Horrible bedside manner with my mom and seemed to have no idea what was going on with her even though it was a common symptom amongst hospice patients! They ordered equipment for my mom that got here so late that she couldn't use them anymore. The night she died, I called them because her pain was so bad and the medication I had been given did absolutely nothing. They said they were sending a nurse over ASAP. Well that nurse called my sister's phone using a private number, left no message and no way of contacting her back. Had to call the office to track her down and find out what happened to her. That was an hour later. She finally called and said she was 40-45 minutes away! By this time it was almost 2 hours later and my mom was in absolutely excruciating pain from her cancer and we couldn't do anything to help her. She was screaming and I'll never ever forget what she had to go through because of these people! She couldn't take the pain anymore and seemed to have a heart attack. My dad and I were on the bed with her trying to help her while she was taking her last breaths and the nurse finally shows up and says, "Oh she's on her way out. " Are you freaking kidding me?! I did reprimand her for her heartless comment and she wasn't even phased by it or seemed to care what was going on at all. Horrible service and no compassion. Haven't heard from them since. They did finally drop off the supplies they ordered a week earlier though, two days after my mom passed away! Because that's really when we could use them!‍Their stuff is still here and they have made no attempt to come pick it up yet. You're basically on your own with your dying loved one if you choose this company! Guess since they're dying, doesn't matter how they treat them. That's probably their motto. I will forever regret using this company for my beautiful and sweet mom. Run the other way if they suggest it to you. read more

Residential Hospice helped us through our hospice journey with my mother in law last month. It was quick, she only lived two weeks after the decision was made that there was no further treatments the doctors could recommend. Residential helped us SO MUCH. They came in and took care of everything! My husband and I haven't done this before as the sole primary caregivers and we had many questions. I was also concerned because English isn't their family's first language and I was really protective that my mother in law would not be confused more than her illness warranted. Residential Hospice was very gentle and always put our desires and values first. We were so glad for all their guidance with pain management and the fact that we could call 24 hrs a day was so comforting. I will always recommend them to my friends. read more

I would not recommend this hospice company for a loved one. My mother was in their care only 5 days. Their app for communication is a nonexistent joke. You can't review nurse notes or send messages. Our mother passed away and all that care and compassion they express they had when we signed up went out the window. They shut off the app, never contacted us following her death, and have no corporate email for formal complaints. I regret using them for hospice. My mother died on a Saturday, I guess business of death is closed on the weekends. Shameful lack of compassion for the families. read more

The care my husband and family received was wonderful. I was concerned about the quality when I read these reviews - keep in mind that the company serves many communities. We live in Buffalo Grove, Illinois and had the most positive experience. The nurses and CNA were all kind and helpful. The 24 hour phone number was always answered promptly and appropriate information was given. If a nurse was needed outside their regular visit, one would be sent and would arrive in a timely manner. The equipment worked well, was clean, and delivered and picked up promptly. If my husband needed a different medication during the night, it was delivered by the pharmacy. We never had to leave the house to pick anything up. They took care of my husband's medical needs and were caring and helpful to family as well. I would definitely recommend Residential Hospice. read more

I would highly recommend Residential Hospice if you truly dislike your family member and hope their last days on earth are full of pain and unbelievable suffering. My father was in their care for only a week and the service was totally disgraceful with a complete lack of compassion. This was recommended by the hospital and was a bait and switch operation. They failed to deliver on EVERYTHING they promised! We were told my father would have a nice hospital bed, and it was something crappy that was at least 30 years old and looked like something out of a homeless shelter. My father even commented on how crappy it was. We had to buy ALL of the supplies because we were told it would take a week to deliver them, which is obviously a cost savings measure because they knew my father would be gone by then, so why give him supplies. The night before he passed away he was in complete agony and we could not get a nurse to come to the house for over 2 hours!!! We were assured that under most conditions a nurse would get to the house in an hour. This was over 2 hours. None of the nurses even live nearby so there's no way this could ever be achieved. EVER! He was moaning and as much as we tried we could not get the pain under control and to have this as a last memory of my Father's amazing life is horrific. No one cared that he was suffering and being it was a Saturday night there was hardly any staff available. When the nurse did come we were told the courier could not deliver the pain patch and we would have to drive to another town to find a 24 hours Walgreens to go and pick up the patch at 3:00 am on a Saturday night. UNBELIEVABLE!!! My 80 year old mother was expected to drive to another town to get medication for her dying husband. We were also told they would be on hand when my Dad was in his last stretch and they would be there to monitor the morphine and make sure he was comfortable. This was another falsehood. I personally had to administer ALL of the morphine to my father which was not what we signed up for. Plus, near the end we were running out of morphine and they told us it would be delivered "STAT" which means nothing as it came 6 hours later. Luckily we had enough to get by. I will always regret using this service and having to see my father suffer in his last hours on earth. Please, please, please, if you truly care about your loved one and wish them a peaceful passing from this earth, DO NOT use this company. You will have the same regrets my family does and it will haunt me for many years to come. read more

I would not recommend Residential Hospice. When they came to sign my dad up nothing was filled out and they were very disorganized. A nurse showed up only one time each week and we were told she was going to come a second time and never did. They said they were working on a massage therapist and never heard anything back. They left an oxygen tank without any instructions as to how to use it. The nurses voicemail was always full so I could not leave a message. We switched companies in the middle of my dads care. Their communication was just awful and they give hospice a bad name. read more

I have to echo the other reviews. The intake nurse who signed my mother into hospice had instant approval from the Hospice Medical Director, Dr Daniel Grzegorek who works at Duly Health. Nursing care consisted of checking vital and telling us to keep doing what we were doing. They were short on bathing staff so that was only twice weekly. Supplies were ordered late and sent to the wrong pharmacy. The night mom passed it took the answering service over an hour to even dispatch the nurse to pronounce the death. It took four days and many angry calls to get the Hospice doctor to sign the death certificate. I was told that that the death certificate was between the funeral home and doctor, so I HAD TO TRACK HIM DOWN at his day job after his three day weekend. Complete disrespect to my mom and our family. Side note, doctors in Illinois can register for electronic death certificate signature, Dr Grzegorek waits until the faxed copy and he are in the same space. I hope that he and his family experience the same disrespect in their time of sorrow. read more

We had residential Home Care to Edward Hospital in Naperville for my father when he was in his Elder years and they were terrible, didn't show up when they said they were going to, sometimes didn't show up at all. Now my mother is in a nursing home with them as her hospice provider and they are just as bad. read more
