Tried and Tested... Resil Home Improvements Is the Real Deal! This review does not greet you during the honeymoon phase of a beautiful home renovation. In fact, the Resil Team completed a full reconfiguration of our kitchen just ahead of Thanksgiving 2023. My wife and I set out to inventory local contractors for multiple home Improvements. Spring of 2023, we attended the Oak Lawn Home and Garden Show to speak with professionals in the industry. The team over at Resil were one of many vendors present for home and/or property construction. We left the event with a host of companies to choose from. We learned very quickly that contractors lose enthusiasm and interest when you actually do your homework prior to a major project. We chose Resil. The owner Mike, and his team were clear experts of this industry. We decided to start with the kitchen instead of our three bathrooms. From start to finish, the entire Resil Crew maintained a professionalism that was greatly appreciated. They arrived as scheduled and worked in rotation according to their particular craft and expertise. In closing, One Year Later, our reconfigured kitchen has hosted 2023 and 2024, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners; and it's still beautiful and functional! We gained a ton of storage space, our college and high school kids have enjoyed entertaining friends, but most importantly, my wife still raves about how our kitchen allows her to face our family and guest when preparing meals! Resil just completed my bathroom remodel and I'm very pleased! They made it beautiful and (what's more important to me) they thoroughly addressed invisible issues behind the wall and buried beneath the concrete slab. We had our bathroom remodeled and loved the result. Mike and the Resil team did a great job from the initial consultation to the final touches. Mike has great ideas that help us with the final design. The materials used were of a high quality and the crew was skilled and courteous. They really try to please the client and when there was an issue Mike took care of it to our satisfaction. I hired this company to install new flooring in my kitchen. About 6 months after they did the job the flooring started coming up at the seams and chipping at the corners. The owner of the company came out and saw the damage and said he would have to contact the manufacturer of the flooring. I found RESIL at the Tinley Park Home Show. They came out to give a quote on a kitchen floor. But while there took a look at my bathroom and the quote for a complete remodel was very competitive. The job took a bit longer than I had hoped, but I was pleased with the outcome and attention to detail. DO NOT USE!!! DO NOT USE!!! DO NOT USE!!! I have great experiences in rehabs, help build 5 properties, managed over 100 vacant lands....including the upkeep of three family homes. I need a tuckpointing project done 1st and to rehab project afterwards. I'VE BEEN FAKED OUT, DETECTED A BUNCH OF LIES FROM THIS COMPANY WHO NEVER SHOWED UP, AND CONFUSION!!!!! As a career and educated professional, I found an advertisement scattered throughout the Chicago Police stations. So I called them and made an appointment. I called to confirmed my appointment with an associate who was supposed to meet with me later on that day. He confirmed our appointment however he lied to me five times. 1. Bob Bellivia lied to tell me that someone from his office notified by phone to me that they are not coming out. NO ONE CALLED ME OR LEFT A MESSAGE ON MY VOICE MAIL from this company. 2. He also said that his foreman came out and looked at the property to say that the job was too small. A) His foreman??? A job too small??? I was probably talking with the owner! B) How can that be....when my home video cameras did not show anyone viewing the property for an inspection. C)Plus, the gate is locked to view the sides and back yard. 3. Lastly, he told me that the garage and house tuckpointing is in great shape! A) That isn't true because there are bricks coming out of the mortar, bricks are breaking off/crumbs. B) Both properties are in desperate need for tuckpointing because it has never been done before since the house was built (1967). 4. The next day....Bob Bellivia called me and left a voicemail message sounding drunk--- talking about....the work that he's done on my porch---he will come by to pick up the check for payment?!?!? A) A porch is a small ass job in comparison to tuckpointing a brick house and garage. B) He called the wrong person because I have never used this company?!?!?!? 5. A representative called me later on......and informed me about a house with "SIDING"!?!?!? I DON'T HAVE NO SIDING ON MY HOUSE OR GARAGE BECAUSE THEY ARE 100% BRICK!! I told the guy.... I called for TUCKPOINTING FOR A BRICK HOUSE AND GARAGE, NOT SIDING. I also related to him that.... Bob Bellivia said the job that a Forman came out/job too small, etc....IS ALL A LIE!!! I have lived in a small home in Mt. Greenwood for 12 years. Finally able to update this fixer-upper, I took my remodeling ideas to three widely used local contractors for pricing. Resil Home Improvements was the best priced and came with good recommendations. I took a chance on them and couldn't be happier. They did what they said they were going to do, when they said they were going to do it. They were professional and cleaned up after themselves after each day. Living through construction is hard so this is important. They offered financing options which I needed. They have a show room on 111th and Kedzie making it convenient for me to see samples. Pinterest was also wonderful for paint ideas and other details. My whole first floor was updated and is absolutely beautiful. I look forward to working with them next year when I tackle the outside. I feel obliged to share this wonderful outcome with you. If you have any type of home-improvement coming up, I strongly recommend you get three prices and include Resil in the bidding. Work never completely done but they took my money and never came back. Owner Mike prefers to work for non whites and he talks all day long about black people and Mexican. Not sure how this company still exists on the south side in a diverse neighborhood. He ordered the wrong vanity and failed to replace it. Resil remodeled my bathroom. I didn't negotiate in price much because I explained my expectations and I was told they'd handle everything. Let me start by saying communication is not great. Instead of calling me to give me a start date and time, like they said they would, they just showed up knocking on my door and we were unprepared. Whenever I had to call for someone to come out, they said they would call back and let me know when they would arrive. Instead, the workers kept just showing up. The workers barely, or don't, speak English. If you speak Polish, you'll be better off. The quality of the work was almost all satisfactory and the materials used were good. When there were fitment issues, the employees really didn't want to fix or adjust their work. When they considered themselves done, they just left and a large pile of garbage remained in my backyard. Only when I threatened to stop the check did they send someone out for the garbage and for a few adjustments. There is still one item that they never took care of. When they said they would, nobody showed up. At this point, I'd rather just be done. I'm mostly satisfied, but it seems like Resil will do what they want, when they want. And if you aren't 100% happy, they'll act like you're a bother. read more

Had these folks out to the house for a quote on a bath remodel. Price was not bad. The next week we traveled a pretty good distance to their business address to check them out and see their place. Discussed tile selections and the like. We set an appointment up for a final consultation and left on our happy way. The day of the appointment we waited for over an hour past the predetermined time. I finally called their office and got attitude from the girl on the phone. "He is busy with another client call and cannot talk to you." Well the day he was here he fielded a few texts and a phone call. Needless to say if he is handling potential customers like this what is going to happen once they have the business. I'd like to say I fired him on the spot , but it's hard to fire someone who does not work for you yet. Saw another comment out here from someone talking about their lack of ability to use the phone and call you. Glad to see I am not alone. BTW --------- We were going to sign the contracts TODAY for the work. Guess it's good for us and bad for his business. Guess he figured we were a sure thing so why bust your hump. read more

Well let me start 1st by saying that initially I was very pleased with the work that I received from Resil Home Improvement when they initially replaced my front porch back in November of 2020. However, once Spring came around I noticed that some of the wood had started to buckle. I called and reported the issue and someone told me that they would come out to take a look at it the next week and get it fixed. A month passed and no one ever showed up then Mike, the owner came out and said that he would do an inspection and that he would have a crew come out the next week to repair it that was April 29th, it is now June 10th and I have yet to hear from anyone with regards to fixing the buckled wood on my porch. I am so frustrated and thoroughly disappointed with Resil for their service, or rather lack of and the thing is, is that no one from management even had the decency to call me explain what happened or even apologize, they just keep putting people in the office on the phone to say that someone will be out the next day and the next day somehow turns into weeks very disappointed with the post service that I've received. I wouldn't refer them to my worst enemy! read more

I was very pleased with the job Mario and his father did renovating my bathroom and adding a kitchen backsplash. They did a detailed and precise tile job for me. They kept me informed during each step of the project and worked long hours to complete it. Their demeanor was highly professional and they do beautiful work. We give Resil Home Improvement five stars; if we could give six, we would! We were introduced to this company while attending the Orland Park home show...we were looking for contractors to do a complete kitchen re-do. Mike Resil, the owner of the company, and some of his team were there and we were impressed with their display. They were friendly without being pushy and we took their brochure and business information. My husband, being an informed consumer, checked the company and reviews with the Better Business Bureau; they have an excellent rating. We called to set up an appointment (along with another Home Improvement Company) for the following week. Dave Allen, the General Manager, came to our home. He listened to our thoughts about what we were thinking of as far as our needs and the vision we had to make our 30+-year-old kitchen into a kitchen that would fit our lifestyle, as well as add beauty and value to our home. Dave was friendly, extremely knowledgeable (being in the business for many years) and his "we can make it happen" attitude, along with their excellent accolades from others and their BBB rating, convinced us to sign with them. It's hard not to worry when making an investment this size, about stories that you hear about home improvement construction gone bad. THIS IS THE OPPOSITE! First, the price was right on with another quote we received and our budget. When the contract was signed, Dave gave us a timeline on when they would start and the approximate completion time. Mike Resil himself came to assess our job; he was courteous, efficient, extremely knowledgeable, and confident our kitchen would be everything we hoped. He made excellent suggestions on things we wanted, as well as ideas that would make our kitchen efficient as well as beautiful. They started sooner, and finished earlier than quoted...making sure we were inconvenienced as little as possible. Resil Home Improvement has a beautiful showroom, and Anastasia was wonderful in helping us choose our cabinetry and countertops. From the beginning of the teardown to the end, our experience with Mike and the two tradesmen (Mario and Wesley, thank you for everything) was wonderful. They gutted our kitchen, put in a new ceiling and lighting, cabinets and beautiful granite countertops. Mario and Wesley's are stellar craftsmen. They didn't hire outside electrical contractors or plumbers; they did all the work themselves. They installed the new appliances (we had purchased) and the work is excellent. Even the changes we requested were met with "of course, no problem." They arrived to work on time every day, were friendly and polite, and worked diligently. At the end of the workday, everything was cleaned and ready for the next day. Mike was here almost every day checking on the progress, making sure we were happy and answering any questions we had. Truthfully, the kitchen is more beautiful than we ever imagined. Everyone who has seen it is impressed with the efficiency, beauty, and quality of the work.
