My son has been seeing Dr. Donahue the past couple of weeks. I have been extremely impressed with both of them. Their initial diagnoses have been pretty spot on, and the treatments are amazingly effective. Both doctors really seem to understand all sports and how the body needs to function to do them. My daughter is in competitive cheerleading. My son...baseball. I've never heard either kid complain about the appointments and they usually walk out feeling pretty good about what had just happened. I've never been a huge believer or fan of chiropractors. I always had the impression that once to go, you'll be going for the rest of your life. But I don't get that seem feeling here. And perhaps it's the sports medicine aspect these two being to their practice. They want you healed up and back to normal as quickly as possible. I've never felt them try to get us back for appointments that were not warranted. Easy 5 stars for this practice.

Unfortunately, I started to feel a lot of tightness and clicking in my right hip. I kept trying to power through it, but after some time I was having difficulty completing my morning exercises. I really wanted to keep working out but was having such a hard time doing any ab exercises or even squats so I decided to give it a couple weeks of rest. Unfortunately, it ended up coming back once I tried getting back to it. I decided that it was probably time to have this professionally looked at. I scheduled my evaluation and at the end of my evaluation my physical therapist helped modify the activities I was doing to allow me to complete 95% of my normal workout pain free. This was huge for me as I exercise for my mental health and couldn't fathom taking weeks off from working out again. 6 weeks later and I'm back to working out 100% pain free and I feel so much stronger! Our son has worked with Jon at Optimum Performance Physical Therapy on a couple different occasions…read moreto help him recover quickly and safely from triathlon and swimming injuries. Most recently, our son did something to his shoulder during this year's high school swim season...this took him out of the water for 5-6 weeks because he could not lift his arm in certain motions or swim his workouts without significant pain in his shoulder. He was evaluated by a couple different orthopedic doctors, both of whom thought our son tore his labrum in his shoulder...a condition that often results in surgery to fix the problem, with several months plus of rehab after the surgery. Getting this news right at the start of swim season was devastating, to say the least. We did a special MRI of the shoulder joint, and upon evaluating that, it was discovered that there was no tear of his labrum!! Great news, however, our son was still having tremendous pain with certain common movements of his arm, shoulder and even pushing down with his hand at times. We opted to get a steroid shot into that inflamed area of the shoulder joint space and to start extensive physical therapy in order to try to get our son back in the water, as he REALLY wanted his high school swim season and was super frustrated and defeated by this setback. Jon was our "go to" guy for these sessions of physical therapy. His hours worked best with our son's hectic schedule and we trusted him from working with him for past injuries. Plus, you just can't beat Jon's professionalism, compassion and genuine interest he takes in you as a client, but more so, just as a person. Jon was able to work 2-3 times a week on our son to try to get him back to functioning without pain and back to swimming. Jon simply went above and beyond by trying different things and exercises on him...he even loaned us a piece of strength training equipment to help get our son's shoulder stronger. I'm happy to report, with Jon's help, our son was able to get back in the water for the later portion his high school swim season. He ended up having to switch gears physically (and mentally) to sprinting events instead of his usual distance events, because of not being able to swim longer distances due to shoulder and arm fatigue. However, even with the event changes and mental changes that went on, our son ended up qualifying for State in all four of his events!! We didn't know if he would be able to get back in the water this year when all these shoulder issues started happening, let alone make it to State. Our son even ended up being part of a relay team for his school that broke a 22 year old school record!! So exciting!! BIG THANKS to Jon at Optimum Performance for supporting him and not giving up on him in the process...and of course, for helping us avoid shoulder surgery, too!! We appreciate everything that was done and highly recommend Jon's work and expertise.

Thankfully, Coach Holly took the time to understand my individual needs and helped modify the workouts so I could participate safely and successfully. During my intro sessions, the workouts were explained and demonstrated in detail. I was encouraged to ask questions, and I asked A LOT, which helped me understand what muscles and areas of my body each movement worked and, more importantly, shown proper form for maximum benefit and safety. I was nervous about attending my first group class after my one-on-one sessions, but everyone was incredibly welcoming, supportive, and encouraging. My personal trainer has been AMAZING and she takes into account my condition and past injuries to create our workouts. I could barely walk after the first session but now five months later I can do proper squats without pain. My end goal isn't to be the strongest person at the gym but to build up my body to be able to do every day functions again. Every session I attend is my physical therapy. I look forward to every session I can make!
