We came here twice. I didn't write a review the 1st time because I wanted to give it another shot before i did. Both times were very similar. The place is lively and busy. Both times there was a large group of people at a table celebrating something. The tables were mostly full on a weekday night. . They didn't have mango both times. The staff are very nice. The sushi is ok. The special rolls are not worth the money. the two rolls we got tasted similar because they were smothered in spicy mayo. The tuna & avocado roll and the salmon roll were good. Last time we came, we had the dumplings & they were good. The sushi was not memorable. We noticed the big party next to us ordered Chinese food. It looked good. I think that's what I'd come back for. I definitely would not go out of my way for their sushi here. read more

Disappointed overall experience. I first asked for masago nigiri and was told they didn't have masago. However, when the dishes arrived to other guests...several items clearly had masago on them. It gave me the impression that either they do have it and didn't realize it, or there's a lack of understanding of their own menu. Then I ordered spicy tuna and spicy salmon, expecting a proper spicy mix, but both were simply drenched in mayonnaise with very little flavor balance. That said, what really drove the low rating was the sashimi. I ordered white tuna sashimi and was served a brown-colored piece of fish with an unpleasant smell. We visited on Friday night, for dinner, with a party of two and it was a very nice experience. We arrived and were seated right away, the place was almost full. The waitress stopped by and took orders, they have a full bar as well as Japanese favorites. We started with Egg Rolls and a Spicy Salmon Roll, both of which were pretty standard, good but nothing special. From there we went with Hunan Beef and Sizzling Chicken. Both entrees were excellent, the beef was probably one of the best Asian dishes I have ever consumed. The service was good, prompt and efficient. Overall, a great place for Asian cuisine. read more

This restaurant used to be better. The fried rice was more hot lettuce than actual rice. Sushi is not the same as before. One day the server (who apparently is one of the owners) served us dumplings apps by mistake but we didnt realized. I got one of the dumplings when we realized it wasnt ours. The server came back like 20 minutes later and grabbed the dumplings and put them on the right table even though they were cold, and missing one. They should ve give the new ones but they did not. I thought it was a cheap move. Not a great restaurant anymore. read more

I heard about this place for years and never found the time to eat there. Then during the pandemic I bought some food to go. It was so so good, the way they make their fried rice is simply amazing, I love it! It is on the expensive side but it's definitely worth it. The food and the service is good. I considered is better than others Japanese restaurants in the area. I recommend the Tokyo rice, remembered me the old Chinese rice we used to buy with all meats, little bit-expensive for a rice but good. The sushi is ok... it is a family atmosphere. This place is a huge surprise- on a strip mall street across from the Humacao Walmart- on the east coast of Puerto Rico... Really?? Yes, really. I've had a fair share of Asian food in the states and this ranks right up with the best of them. The food is AMAZING, the service better than most in PR, and besides the freezing air-conditioning (bring a jacket) it has a soothing, pink-lit ambiance that makes me feel right at home (in Tokoyo, er, Puerto Rico, or hell, even Little Rock, AR) Lovely & highly recommended. Storing offerings in a sunny Saturday. The miso was unremarkable, but i liked the place otherwise. Very nicely cut rolls, and superb fish.

I have tried almost everything here. I like that they have lunch specials during the week (but it's crowded at lunchtime). Staff is friendly too. I always end up eating their delicious spicy crab salad, the Tokyo Roll, Daniel Roll, and plum wine. Overall, I recommend it a lot. read more

Checking out the reviews on Yelp, we decided to give this place a try. We ordered a roll, 2 special rolls, fried rice and sesame chicken. The waitress totally forgot about our 2 special rolls! Excellent service, really fast. Waiters make sure constantly that everything is ok with the food among other things. Sushi and miso soup were sooo good. Fried rice was regular, was expecting a little more japanese to it and less puertorican jajjaja. Definately recommend this place read more

I have visited this restaurant at least 50 !!!! Times in 2012. If you're looking for truly inspirational quality Chinese cuisine masterfully done, food look no further. Tokyo simply puts all other chines and Sushi paces inPuerto Rico to shame!!! Case in point, remember that pseudonchinese restaurant that opened in Plaza las Americas in 2011.......P.f. Chang. Tokyo simply spanks that restaurant in both categories: food & service. What to get? Simple, get the Tokyo Fried Rice or the Tokyo Lo Mein. Absolutely outstanding. If you're into Sushi as my wife and I and both our children (sigh....less for me....) than toky will leave you speechless with their Daniel roll, Okayama and Tokyo roll. They are simply the bomb.com. I have compare Tokyo Sushi to every other Sushi out ther, and even though there are several which are very good, like Silk, Nori, J-Taste and others, my wife and I simply keep coming back to Tokyo for the value we receive in terms of quality and quantity consistently. If I have someone whom I need totake out to lunch then its a no brainer, Tokyo, and they simply love it! Tokyo restaurant may not be on SALPR's radar screen but in mine and many folks whom I've taken to Tokyo there simply is no competition!!!! Please, try them out and let me know if you agree with me that Tokyo is simply the best. I just loove this place! They have great lunch specials (sushi roll at $10 vs. $15 regular price). The place is very nicely decorated, clean and has great ambiance, specially at night. The owner and employees are so nice! We once celebrated my mom's birthday and they asked if we wanted them to put our cake on the fridge while we ate, they provided a lot of plates/silverware to eat the cake with and when we left they even asked if we wanted a box for the leftover cake! I say this as if it were the awesomest thing because it kinda is, considering that I've been to restaurants that CHARGE you for just having the cake on the table!!!! Outrageous! Anyways, their Kyoto sushi is my favorite, it has shrimp tempura, cream cheese, avocado and caviar. I definitely recommend this restaurant and I love that we now have somewhere nice to go to in Humacao. read more

I really like this place. It is in my city and prices are fair. What I love the most is the service, and a bar that they have in a small room. They always have security too. I did not like main dishes that not were sushi, but the rolls are great. You must try the crab Rangoon and the soft shell crab. read more

So far, this is the best sushi we've found in the Caribbean. The red tuna, hamachi, tako, and snapper were excellent and fresh. We also had the spider roll (soft shell crab on the menu), volcano roll, and another roll with spicy crab on top. Delicious! The Sapporo and saki were a nice change from the typical island beverages. The Mongolian beef was amazing. The chicken and vegetables in a garlic sauce was very good, as well. The pot stickers were very good. Kids loved the french fries and won ton soup. The mojitos were the only disappointment as they tasted awful. We would have spent more on drinks if they made them right. That was the only negative. Good service, great food , but small tables. Be prepared to drop your fork or knife as we noticed over half the tables did. I recommend based on the great food. read more

The food is good but keep in mind that this is actually a Chinese restaurant with sushi. There aren't any other Japanese dishes really except for a donburi. The crab rangoons are tasty as are the other noodle dishes. I didn't try any of the sushi so I can't comment on that. read more

(Just check out the majority of my Yelp reviews. ) So when I went back to visit the motherland for Thanksgiving weekend, even having unlimited access to delicious Puerto Rican cuisine couldn't keep me away from having a couple sushi dinners. Many first stop was a solo dinner trip. I sat at the sushi bar was attended to promptly. I enjoyed watching the sushi chef whip up all kinds of speciality rolls with finesse and quickness. I ordered the PuertoTokyo Roll (what?!) and a traditional volcano roll and salmon handroll. Everything was phenomenonal! I took my family back for lunch on my last day in PR. I'm happy to report the food was just as tasty. Unfortunately, service was pretty poor. I mean, we literally had to request our server for everything! And it was not even remotely crowded. I'm still giving it 5 stars because this was a sweet find on Humacao (and having been a server myself, I'm hoping it was just an off day.) read more

Went recently for sashimi with a friend. Came here a few years back, and I wasn't too happy with the food or service back then. But I must say that this time around I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We had fried dumplings as an opener, which were very good, and as the main course shared a maki roll and some sashimi. Overall very good, though I was not too crazy about the scallops; it was okay but not to my particular taste. Had some very good margaritas (I know, not what one would normally have with sashimi). Overall, a pleasant experience. A definite upgrade. Will return again. read more
