Our server was very understanding about our mom with dementia which was also much appreciated. We understand how busy it was in the day of our visit and are grateful that she was so accommodating Overall good experience despite the nut allergy scare and crispy bacon. The angel hair pasta was cooked perfectly Al dente, the sauce was delicious and the eggplant was fried perfectly - a tower of thinly sliced heaven with Just enough cheese and plenty of sauce. It did not dry out overnight in my refrigerator, as leftover pasta dishes often do. My only complaint is the noise. We were seated only a few yards away from the entertainment - a woman singer on acoustic guitar - but we could not hear her. After our meal, we asked to be seated in the very full bar area. The hostess and waitress kindly found us a high top. Again, we were close to the stage, directly in front, but unable to enjoy her because of the noise level. While the evening specials were tempting, we opted for two longtime favorites from the regular menu: Piccata di Pollo - $27 Shrimp Scampi - $29 Total with wine and tax: $84.53 Our entrées arrived promptly, hot, and beautifully prepared. The chicken piccata was exceptionally tender, complemented by a bright, flavorful lemon-butter sauce. The shrimp scampi featured perfectly cooked shrimp in a classic butter and garlic sauce that was well-balanced and not over-seasoned. As always, the portions were generous--enough that some of the chicken accompanied us home. After one less-than-memorable visit, it was nice to see Alicante back at the top of its game. Excellent food, attentive service, and a beautiful setting make this a restaurant we look forward to visiting again. Tip: Even though Alicante is on Route 16, you can park along the road. I was also informed that the staff originally added breaded chicken instead of meatballs for the pasta, but they also gave me both chicken and meatballs for no additional charge. I enjoyed my food for my tailgate dinner before a nearby concert. The pasta was served hot and baked in a round aluminum container with soft ziti pasta, a soft breaded chicken tender, 2 firm meatballs (cut in halved), a good thick red sauce, topped with lots of mozzarella cheese. The "Amato's Real Italian" Sandwich lots of Italian dressing, ham, cheese, pickles, peppers, tomatoes, black olives, salt & pepper in a soft open face sub roll, which was very tasty and messy from the dressing. My boyfriend was traveling for business and we were looking for a place half way where we could meet for dinner. Based on the reviews, we thought we would give this place a try. Our waiter, "Wayne" did not make us feel welcome. It was obvious that the place attracts many locals, and we were not one of them because we had very little attention payed to us. Once our food was dropped (literally) at the table, he didn't come back to see how it was, or if we needed anything. Other tables around us had parm cheese on the table, and we had none. He was hanging out and talking to another table for most of the night. By the time we were done our meal, we sat for an additional 20 minutes with our plates in front of us, still Wayne was nowhere to be found. When he returned to the table, he grabbed our plates and asked us if we wanted dessert and didn't ask how our meal was at all. He was very impersonal which made for a horrible experience. The bread was really good. My boyfriend had a spicy calamari appetizer and he said it was ok. For dinner, I had the chicken parm. The chicken was good but the pasta portion was not generous, I actually ran out of pasta which never happens. The chicken portion was also small, but as a female, it was enough. My boyfriend had a seafood pasta dish and it was lacking garlic and flavor, he was disappointed. Overall we were mostly upset about the service, but the food wasn't anything to write home about. Granted will will probably never be in the area to go here again but we certainly wouldn't go out of way or recommend anyone. We were upset that we didn't have the same experience as other reviewers. read more

Now known as Restaurant 89 and under new ownership, on the few occasions I've dined here the food is consistently outstanding and fresh. Special appetizers and special dining options in addition to menu are cooked and served beyond delicious! I've had Escargot served better than any I can remember having elsewhere, so if you are lucky enough that it's offered don't pass it up. Portions are spot on. In the past year I've tried the filet, the veal dishes, the carbonara and the chicken parmigiana and none disappoint. If you dine with friends or family willing to share the different menu choices, it's the best way to try more dishes. The different soups are always delicious too. Bartender serves fun and seasonal cocktails, made perfectly and with experience! Finish your dinner off by trying out a sweet treat and an after dinner cocktail.
