I have been here a few times and it's Always a must stop when we head to NH. They have a huge indoor and outdoor space. When we went it was outdoor only but that was perfect because it was a very welcoming set up. There are a lot of tables so room for everyone. They have a lot of different brews so there is one for everyone's taste. I had a key lime pie that nailed it. So good ! They have awesome food there too. I had tacos and they were delicious and huge. The service was wonderful. The server made sure our glasses were never empty. Always a plus in my book ! For those of you worried about the Rona there is plenty of distance. Staff wearing masks. We decided to meet some friends here after it had been since pre-Covid since we had been. Recently met up early eve on a Sunday. We were looking forward to having their fish and chips as in the past they were great. Well, like everything it seems these days, things have changed. The host was actually nice to seat us outside (luckily weather cooperated) after we decided that the music inside was too loud to carry on a conversation. It took at least 15 minutes for the server to acknowledge our presence. Another 15 minutes to get our drinks. Took another half hour or more to get the food. The fish and chips were the worst ever. Batter was overcooked and so thick had to excavate through it to find the fish, what there was of it. The french fries were not hot and tasteless. After waiting so long we did not want to ask for anything else. Too bad. We will not be going back. read more

I absolutely love Hayseed. From the atmosphere to the beer to the rotating menu to the staff, every experience here has been a good one. While they were very busy on the last Saturday night we went, our party of three was seated immediately. Fair warning, when it's packed it is fairly loud, more so like a bar than a restaurant as the dining area/bar is all in one room. This time, we ordered the pork belly sandwich, fried Brussels sprouts with garlic Parmesan dressing, and nachos. The nachos are huge and I thought we're entree sized (on the apps menu). Good amounts cheese, black beans, fresh chopped tomatoes, and jalapeños throughout the multicolor chips, with a big dollop of sour cream on the side. The Brussels sprouts were the absolutely star of the show though. Perfectly fried to be crispy on the outside and soft inside, tossed with a creamy garlic Parmesan dressing/sauce. WOW. I hope that is a staple on their menu because I will always order it! The pork belly sandwich with fries and a pickle did fall short of our expectations however. While the fries were amazing, the pork belly was dried out and lacked flavor. Had it been covered with some more sauces and more pickled veggies, it would have been much improved. I would be interested to try the black bean burger or fish and chips next time. For beers, we had the Pilsner and their flagship IPA, which were both great. Hayseed is a absolutely fantastic place for a good beer, great food, and relaxed fun environment. Really a place you can bring anyone. I highly recommend! read more

My selections: Drink - Beer Flight with choice of 4 drafts. I had 4 varieties of IPA's, all were good- no complaints. Food - I got the chicken tacos with a side salad. Tacos were a bit on the spicy side with the aioli but it was still enjoyable (if you like spice you will probably love it). Side salad was more than I expected it as it was a spring mix with shaved carrots and dressing of choice. Service - Our waitress was friendly and no complaints. Atmosphere - Great, cozy, home like environment. Overall, coming to my 4 rating. Will be back again. read more

We went for a snack and some beer- the beer was great and the nachos...no. There was a 20-30 minute wait so we went over to the store and browsed, each had a single beer then went back to the restaurant and got seats at the bar. We each tried a different beer and liked them so we got nachos with chili. After quite a long wait, the smallest batch of nachos was out in front of us. I'm not kidding - it was very small, and the "chili" was scarce. A tiny cup of salsa and sour cream came with...and it was $17.99! I have never had such a small, expensive plate of nachos - and they weren't even good! Beer and nachos is a thing, but apparently not here. So, if you go, drink but maybe don't eat, if nachos are anything to judge by. read more

My Boyfriend and I went to the Smuttynose on Sunday for lunch , it was my first time eating at the Smuttynose Brewery , I ordered the Fried fish sandwich, and was very disappointed, the fish came out, like a long fillet, deeply fried in a heavy greasy dark oil, and a very thick batter. The ends of the fish were sticking outside of a round bun, which looked very odd as I tried to break a piece of the fish off the end the oil just dripped off it and onto my jeans which stained them because it was so greasy and it did not taste good at all, I did not eat it, I ordered the potato chips with it, which were also extremely soaked in oil and not tasty at all I should have just told the waitress to take it back to the kitchen. For the prices that they charge their food should be much better than what it is. It was bad bar food and I will never eat there again my boyfriend ordered the Ba Ba bang chicken sandwich that was also deeply fried and greasy. He was not happy with his meal as well. We will not be going back there to eat. $40 for two sandwiches that were awful. His beer was the best part of this overpriced inedible meal . Very disappointed! We have been for drinks and their live bands in the summer and the environment is great , but would not recommend u eat there , eat else where before you go .. Had a late lunch here on a Saturday afternoon and my fiancé and I were pleasantly surprised at how much we ended up really liking this place because we hadn't heard a lot about it. The restaurant is in a house across from the brewery building and it has both a modern feel indoors as well as a comfortable homey feel. We decided to each get a flight so we could sample 4 beers a piece and as opposed to getting meals we got a few appetizers to try. We ordered nachos with chili on them, chicken tenders (which come with fries) and Parmesan garlic wings. We weren't sure what to expect because pub style food often means a bunch of frozen appetizers dropped in a deep fryer. This was definitely not the case. We got the smaller nachos and the portion was more than enough to share for two people. The Parmesan garlic wings were really tasty and the sauce they put on them was good enough that we asked for a side of it to dip our tenders and fries into. A small order of tenders has 3 tenders in the order and the large has 6. Thinking we needed enough to split we got the large order but what we were aware of was that the size of each tender was practically an entire chicken breast! Needless to say we had a ton of leftovers to bring home. We also discovered a couple of new beers that were unique and tasty. Unfortunately one of them was a mint chocolate beer that hasn't been released for sale in cans/bottles but the other was a peanut butter & chocolate stout called Snaccident. Our waitress, Nicole, let us know in the brewery store we could pick up some Snaccident to take home and we did just that. Overall we really liked Smuttynose's restaurant. It is a little pricey (our nachos alone were almost $20) but the restaurant has a great atmosphere. We also really appreciated their online waitlist option which allows you to see how long the wait is, add your name and then get updates via text. Thanks to this feature we didn't have to wait at all for our table because we put our name on the list about an hour before we got there. Lastly the service in the restaurant was great! The hostess was really personable and our waitress Nicole was sweet, funny and really accommodating. I will say the young man working in the brewery shop in the building across the parking lot was less than personable, almost bordering on rude, but I don't want to hold that against the restaurant because their customer service was on point. read more

A group of us came here after doing a day full of brewery tours. We were greeted immediately and sat in the bar area. If you do a beer tasting at Smuttynose Brewery in the same lot you can get a $3 pint of all but 3 beers, the higher abv offerings. Most of the appetizers ranged from $7-$12. We started off with a basket of fries as well as a basket of onion rings. We were expecting a small basket of each but the onion rings came in a GIANT basket and were accompanied by whole grain mustard, and an herb aioli. Both were very tasty. The fries came in a smaller basket and were shoe string style, very crisp. My husband and I split the fried chicken sandwich with fries. They were kind enough bring it out split on two plates. I feel because there was only half a sandwich they filled the space with a massive mountain of fries. After taking a bite or two I noticed the sandwich was a single chicken tender on top of two bread and butter pickles. No lettuce, onion, tomato or balsamic vinaigrette as stated on the menu. I had read in previous reviews that this is a common flaw at this restaurant. The chicken was flavorful but plain. Our friends split the gnocchi entree. The entree was more of a mixed vegetable plate with a sparing amount of gnocchi, 9 pieces between the two split plates. It had a massive amount of onions and brussel sprouts, a comical amount even. When they expressed their dissatisfaction to our waitress she asked the kitchen to make more which came out quickly. When you order an gnocchi entree you expect a "pasta" dish, it was a bit deceiving. The service was great, and listened to our concerns. I don't think I would come back from dinner, but I would come back a few apps and a couple beers. read more

Came here after going to Smuttynose Brewery. Had a coupon for a free beer. So we got a nice lunch more beer and had a great afternoon. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich with fries and a Gravitation to enjoy as well. My sandwich was just the right size and was very crispy. The service here was pretty fast, we got in and out rather quickly which was perfect because we had some other places to visit still. It was relatively crowded but not too noisy that you couldn't hold a conversation. The restrooms were very clean too. I would definitely come back try some more beer with a new menu item. read more

This place is awesome. We've come here a few times with friends and have always sat outside with our dog. They have such a great vibe outside with the live music and fire pits and string lights. Their food and beer is really good too. Some highlights to try: the bourbon soaked fried pickles, onion rings, popcorn shrimp and buffalo cauliflower. Sooo good. The Hayseed is a Smuttynose brewery Restaurant, so the beer selection is great and includes newly innovated ones the brewery is working on. I'd recommend doing the brewery tour and tasting before your dinner. It's located in the same parking lot. The food was outstanding. We started by sharing three appetizers. We Salted Haddock Croquettes - House-made brandade croquettes in a Shoals Pale Ale beer batter over tomato confit with garlic chips. We all agreed they were delicious, truly damn delicious. I would go back again just for a plate of these mouth watering gems!! The smoked wings, which were very good, but admittedly I'm more of hot wings guy but we ordered the "hoisin BBQ" sauce. They loved it, it was just ok to me. Lastly we ordered the Olive and Feta - House marinated olives and locally sourced feta cheese served with warm crusty baguette. Everything about this plate was amazing, the bread was fresh and the feta was fantastic. We all loved our entree's, so the sake of writing all night, I'll list what we each had: King Oyster Mushrooms (14 ) Pan roasted NH king oyster mushrooms over sweet potato puree, farro, and shaved fennel slaw with citrus vinaigrette and pistachios. He loves his mushroom and he raved about how perfectly cooked they were. He was a big fan of this dish. Greek Quinoa Sauté (14) Red quinoa sautéed with New Hampshire pink oyster and blue oyster mushrooms, chickpeas, roasted tomatoes, cipollini onions, spinach, feta, and castelvetrano olives. They offer a beer pairing this particular dish which was cool. My friend like it, but she didn't rave about it. She said she would have order the Haddock Croquettes again instead. Fish Tacos (14) Blue cornmeal-crusted locally-caught flounder, deep fried and stuffed into two flour tortillas with chipotle aioli, pico de gallo, sunflower shoots, and pickled red onion. She LOVED the fish tacos, 'nuff said! Jambalaya (17) Spicy creole tomato and rice stew with house smoked andouille sausage. I wanted the scallops but they ran out, so I opted for Jambalaya. Tyler, our server cautioned me as to the heat in the dish, that many can not handle the spiciness. A lover of hot foods, I was all in. This plate did not disappoint, holy hot sauce Batman! At least three times, I had to sit back and take a break, and I loved it! If you like it hot, get this dish. The smokiness of the sausage was an unexpected treat. Service was outstanding! Tyler was quick, attentive and informative about all of the different beers and beer pairing with your food. Only reason it's not a 5-star to me is the atmosphere. It's what it should, open with wooden tables and chair, it is a restaurant to a brewery after all, but it's camped and we sat in the middle of the room, so everyone who past by me bumped into my chair, and it was incredibly loud. At one point I noted we were all screaming as we were talking. Overall, it's a great place and I plan to go back many more times! read more

The outdoor patio seating was the best outdoor seating of anywhere we've been yet. It was clean, spacious and the plantings and surroundings are beautiful. The menu is varied so my pescatarian choices and my husband's meat preferences were met. Make sure you go on the website and put yourself on the waiting list, I believe that is required before you get a table. I had crab cakes which were delish and my husband had the Isle of Shoals fish sandwich which he liked. "A whole wheat bun would of been better" he said, but it was good with enough French fries for me to steal some. Overall, a great lunch! read more

Didn't get to sample the food. I called about reservations and was told I had to go online to be put on a "wait-list." I did and was advised there would be a 45 minute wait. I signed us up. We live less than a mile from the restaurant. We arrived 30 minutes after putting our name on the list and we're told we had to wait another 45 minutes to an hour.
