I am on vacation and went here for trivia night with my family. It was so fun and the food was so good. I got the homemade chicken tenders w/ ranch AND THE RANCH OMG THE BEST RANCH IVE EVER HAD. My boyfriend and cousin got their fancy buffalo mac n cheese and they LOVED it. I 100% recommended this place and their outdoor seating is beautiful and they had very good beer. read more

This evening was my 2nd time here after coming last week for the first time. The food was great, the atmosphere was spot on. We were excited to try out for our first time as a family during Covid. We enjoyed it so much, we came back. We joined the waitlist at 5:30 and the wait time was 1:55. After last week, waiting an additional 1/2 so we anticipated doing the same this evening. When we arrived we were 6th in the list. We still anticipated sitting down by at least 8:15. At 8:25 we were concerned that we he kitchen would close. We asked the hostess, and she indicated that the kitchen closed at 8:30..... Here are my concerns: The website nor yelp (I looked and looked) and did not see anywhere that the kitchen closed at 8:30. My daughter is an asst manager for an well known restaurant in Waltham, and she said that the kitchen closes after the last party seated has ordered. If that is the case, then it should be indicated or a warning given when your estimated seating time approaches the kitchen closing time. The other issue is that the GM (as indicated by hostess) "doesn't believe in time restrictions". In this challenge time, people are excited to be out of the house and enjoying some time out, totally understandable. It is not inappropriate to indicate to your patrons that you need to adhere to time limits - even 2 hours is more than acceptable. We finally decided to leave at 8:30 knowing that we would not be able to order. read more

The food here was excellent, bar staff was friendly. I was slightly disappointed to have a reservation which told me I had no one in line in front of me, get notified our table was ready, to come in and be told we had to wait as no table was open. We waited 5-10 mins and were asked if we wanted to sit at the bar. Overall a great experience and I would recommend. read more

Some of my absolute favorites - garlic parm naked chicken wings, BRUSSELS SPROUTS!!, and the Smash Burgers - the best thing to hit gastropub fare and Smuttynose Restaurant patrons for years to come. Honestly just really poorly managed and staffed. I love their beer but I've had two experiences coming up from DC to visit where I waited 3.5 hours (putting my name well in advance on a waitlist) to not be seated. System should be more transparent and better managed, and unfortunately had an incredibly snarky hostess who made comments about us never getting g seated when we tried to wait for our table so we ended up leaving. read more

Wow wow wow! I couldn't wait to write this review so it was being drafted while I was still here. I didn't know what to expect from a restaurant owned by a beer brewing company but they did not miss a beat. The menu is small but packs a punch. After careful review of the menu I opted for an item on the specials menu (puerto rican roast pork) and I made the right choice. The pork was flavored and cooked to perfection, and the beans were just as tatsy. I could have easily eaten the large portion but I wanted to save room for dessert. After getting the rest of my meal to go I opted for the stout cake for dessert. Yuuuuumy!!! It was so moist and the frosting was to die for!! The service received from the staff was outstanding and our waitress Elizabeth made perfect recommendations. She advised us to download the Adored app for a half off discount for the beer flight. From the service to the food this place is outstanding and I can't wait to return to try everything else on the menu! read more

Beautiful remodel job done inside this old farmhouse that once stood on the lot where the new Smuttynose brewery is now situated. No big deal, merely lift and shift across the parking lot. Not a huge space, though there's a nice long bar and there was a big group in the center of the room, with smaller tables along the outer wall. There is an upper level. Not sure if it will become additional restaurant space, but with the expansion plans the brewery has in mind, the restaurant will need more room to accommodate larger numbers of patrons coming in future. And as one other reviewer mentioned, they will need more than the two single person restrooms. But for our day, it wasn't too busy. Helped that it was a Monday afternoon. Menu is changed seasonally and is based on a farm-to-table philosophy, working with local suppliers as much as possible. We opted to start with the beer battered onion rings. Batter was light, as was the beer flavor. House made condiments were yummy. I loved the chili aioli (more sweet than spicy). My friend was gaga for the Old Brown Dog Ale mustard. We asked our server if it was available for sale. Not yet, but they're looking at doing that. Hopefully by Christmas. He loved the Sturdy Burger with beef from a farm in Maine and beer-soaked cheese. My Portobello Dip was lovely. Lots of meaty mushrooms. No room for dessert because portions were pretty substantial. Service was great, though had a bit of a wait for coffee and the check. Not worth deducting any points. We received vouchers for a free beer on our next visit as we left. I don't need that for enticement, since I don't drink, but I'm sure I can find someone to come with me who will make good use of them! read more

Unfortunately Smuttynose Brewery is not allowed to serve pints at the physical brewery, just the tasting. SO, if you're looking to actually have a pint while visiting, this is your only option. We walked in after our tasting and sat at the bar. Great service and a truly spectacular selection. They DON'T have all the beers on draft at the brewery, but they have a LOT more then the brewery has (including their own brews and a couple of guests as well). Try to snag a free small pour at the brewery next door. Can't vouch for the food, but it's an inviting space! read more

Originally my friend and I just went for the $3 pint of beer after our tour, but decided to get an appetizer of onion rings. The bartender was very friendly and nice who helped us with our order, the full appetizer for the onion rings came in a very large quantity and recommended we have the side instead because it's smaller but still enough for my friend and I to share. He was so right! We had the perfect amount and it was inexpensive for what we ordered, I had such a great experience I will definitely recommend to a friend and return! read more

We were really impressed by everything we ordered! Loved the beer cheese spread which came with very thick hearty homemade sesame crackers (appetizer). I got the soup special - chilled Korean cucumber, refreshing and quite spicy. My wife got the chicken sandwich and chose the beer cheese option. Chicken sandwiches can often be bland but this was quite tasty, maybe due to the cheese, garlic aioli, guacamole, or the tasty potato roll. Instead of fries she chose the 5 bean salad, and even that was something out of the ordinary! Not only that but the iced tea was great! And the server didn't complain when we requested to change our app selection after she'd already given it to the kitchen. We plan to come back within the week and bring friends! And that's even without mentioning the great beer from the Smuttynose Brewery. read more

How many nice things can I say about this place? We came in at a slow time and we sat and waited about 10 mins at our table for a waitress. She arrived, apologized profusely and bought us a round of drinks. That my friends is customer service!!!! Food was fabulous! Then my daughter decided to leave her purse behind, when we noticed it an HOUR down the road, we called, they had found it and locked it up. We retrieved it just as we had left it. This is the first meal I've had outside my kitchen in lord knows how long, and I'm so happy it was here. The patio, check in, bathroom (COVID procedures) were flawless in my opinion. It was easy to social distance and also enjoy a night out. I felt safer here than at Market Basket for what it's worth. Best of all Smuttynose is extremely dog friendly. All the staff made our dog feel super welcome and comfortable. There were several other well behaved dogs too. The vibe is incredible with fire pits and really good live music. The food hit the spot with a great selection of classics and unique items. Since we've been quarantined we went with buffalo tenders, fish n chips and a burger. I don't regret that decision at all. Everything came out perfectly and I didn't have to do a single dish. Their beer is clearly delicious, and there are tons of choices that you can't get anywhere else. Fun atmosphere and the food is great. Great waitstaff too and decent prices. Very good beer. I had a Wheat Wine Ale and one of their new releases, which were great. My wide and I ordered burgers, both great. I have to knock a star off for running out of barbecue by 7pm. We got the last plate of nachos with brisket instead of pulled pork and I can see why they sell out. (This should seriously be a menu option, btw) If it's this popular I hope they can find a way to increase capacity. Definitely going to go back in a few months. read more

First let me say, it is SO GREAT to get out of the house to enjoy a meal and feel a little bit of normalcy. We've been to the restaurant twice now during the new coronavirus restrictions & have been so impressed with their ability to make all the patrons feel comfortable and their set up is great. The patio is perfect for social distancing, the food and beer was awesome & the staff is amazing. Masks are worn by all staff, patrons have to wear them when away from their table, menus are single use, and all tables and chairs are sanitized between guests. The service was certainly acceptable when considering that a family reunion dumped a whole lot of people into their upper facility and then even more than expected showed up. As usual, I found fault with the acoustics. Too many people, all surfaces were wood and there was absolutely no fabric or panels to dampen the cacophony. If operators only knew how much a simple cloth tablecloth improves the sound levels and the tendency for people to hang around and order more desserts--a super high-profit item, they would probably be more willing to spend the money. It appeared that the customers downstairs were having a better environment. With less people, less noise. read more

Pros: Good and friendly service, a diverse beer list (although they are going through a transition in ownership and beers are average to above average), the bison burger I got was really good. Although I ordered it medium and received it well done it was definitely tasty. Cons: Only meat they had for dinner was pork. No brisket or anything else. Wasn't a big deal for us but they may run out by dinner time which is odd. Salad was literally lettuce on a plate. Well dressed but not visually appealing. Wouldn't hurt to add tomatoes or some other vegetable. Although the name is "green salad." Black bean burger was pretty dry. Kids ordered pulled pork and the pork was more like chopped than pulled. Huge chunks of pork with charred ends that tasted like the charcoal soaked in lighter fluid that cooked it. read more
