We waited a long time even though we were the only table. Meh, not a big deal. Our margaritas tasted like water. Meh, not a big deal. Supposed to be 2 for 1 margaritas according to the sign, they weren't. Meh, not a big deal. THEN, EVERY plate came out COLD .. like, REALLY cold. We didn't wait to try them ,we tried them right away. Cold! 5 plates, all cold. The manager didn't want to fix it/return our money because it was "our fault we ate outside". It's like 80 out and we tried them the minute they set them down. She also said she didn't care about bad reviews so.. apparently this is a non issue, but it makes sense why this restaurant was so empty. Her name is Ana by the way. I enjoyed this small restaurant for the fact it sits right in the middle of a cross section street. You can sit outside and just enjoy the action around you as the streets get crowded with plenty of tourist. Food was great and the entertainment outside was a treat as well. read more

We almost missed it, because of the loud and flashy restaurant next door (a little obnoxious), but I'm so glad we noticed their menu and atmosphere!!!! First off, they've been on business for over 30 years- there's a reason why. The man who runs the restaurant puts his heart and soul into the joint, and it shows. He was absolutely lovely. They may not be the shiniest or flashiest place, but they have the best authentic food and happy hour. We had great drinks, and excellent guacamole, ceviche, and fajitas. The flavors were so rich and just perfect. The food was so tasty, and the service was great. Everybody was so kind. The whole experience was very memorable, and I'm so thankful we stumbled upon it! We stopped here as it was in the middle and we had a connection with the name. You'd Gould never pick base on name connections. Lol atmosphere and location are great! However food is not good at all. Although we were the only ones there service was long even to get our check. And it is quite over priced. Also it is cash only but do take American money. read more

I can only give 4 out of 5. We did not eat here. Our room wasn't ready so we went for drinks to waste (not waste) time. The tequila options were massive! Too many to choose. We sat at the bar. Sitting here right now , the atmosphere is really nice but the overall is not good at all. Let's start with my seat the it is broken so if I move little bit I might fall on the floor. Used the restroom and their faucet doesn't work so they put a cab with water next to it for washing. Scary what goes in the kitchen if they have a plum bing problem. We ordered White Russian and they have no clue of how to make it, it taste bad. I let the waiter taste it and ask him to give something else instead. The location is really good, middle of walking street area. Restaurant is busy and that why we got in. Also there is a guy stoped us and offered us to come and we wanted a whole fish , but the only had 2 fish left so we had to take one of us. The table next to us told us that they are not happy at all and they had a big argument with the people about the bill and they mention that there was extra things in the bill and their fish was not clean and fries and fish didn't taste good. They now changing my drink and saying I can only take something else at the same price so I had to take 2 beers . The other table did lots of mess and they told them they will order the police if they don't pay. We asked to return the fish back because of the way we ordered was totally different from what we asked and they ended up canceling our order and charge us for one beer instead 2 because of the price difference and this is the only reason they get 2 stars and not 1. They ended up with us in a good way so we went to the restaurant next door. Also if you pay in dollars they give you 1=16 pesos and not 19 like it worth. They take advantage of tourists with dollars :/ Do yourself a favor , don't come here untill they start take their business serious and treat people not like it's the only time they will ever see them. read more

Wow. For a tourist trap on the main drag, this place seriously knows what they're doing. Friendly service that happens to speak English very well. Everything we ordered was good. Blah blah blah. Most importantly, the chef has serious skill with the octopus--not an easy thing to cook. The mojo de ajo was sublime and garlicky and charred just the right amount. Good spot with excellent shrimp tacos and enchiladas mole. The initial service was quick and efficient, but once we received our food we were left to sit without being checked on by our waiter. Finally the manager came by and we ordered another round of drinks for the table, which arrived after another 10 minutes. It was evident that several other tables were feeling neglected as well. Recommended by a tour guide, we stopped in for dinner on a Thursday night. Decided on the seafood platter special with octopus, shrimp, fish, and squid which was "highly recommend" by one of the waiters--obviously for how much it cost, and the area being a tourist trap we were suckered into it. Service was prompt and friendly. Portion of the food however was on a smaller side than what they had on the picture of the menu. Shrimp didn't taste fresh either. It wasn't the best Mexican meal we had, but just ok for what we can find around downtown. However, it gets interesting when we asked for the bill and this is where the shady tourist trap biz takes over. So, the waiter comes back with our bill in pesos, but since we were short of pesos, he takes it back to bring it back with the dollar conversion and lol and behold, it's literally $9 US dollars more in change! Sure, you probably get more for your dollars by using pesos, but taking advantage of a situation like this? Better to walk past these tourist traps behind the main streets for authentic Mexican food, that's what we should have done. read more

Food hit or miss, service iffy and cost expensive. Steak was really good but the tuna was NOT fresh. They did give us large portion of tuna but it tasted bad. My fish fillet was fresh and I liked the tequila sauce. Coconut shrimp was meh. They was going to charge us $100 peso for guacamole to go with house chips so we passed. They decided to give us the guacamole on the house after all. Still they tried to nickel and dime us. For a $60 usd lunch for 4 in MX, I expected much better service. Another thing is that their exchange rate is $15 peso to 1 USD. Bank and credit card rate is $18-$20; most restaurants nearby charges $17 per 1 USD (still high but the going rate). I refused to pay such usury price and instead took a walk down the block to an ATM instead. The food would have given them 3 stars but they tried to rip us off. Yes we are obviously American tourists, still I resent being taken advantage of. read more

This place was just okay. The lobster tacos were a bit fishy. The fish tacos were good but they need a creamy sauce to go with it. The enchiladas were just okay. The drinks were on the light side. This was our 7th day in Cancun. Prior to coming to Isla Mujeres, we've eaten at numerous restaurants for lunch and dinner in the hotel district of Cancun. We wandered into this restaurant on whim for lunch. I had a fish filet Vera Cruz style and my wife had a pasta dish. This was the BEST meal we've had in Cancun. We stopped in to give this a try. It was a seriously underwhelming experience. - I ordered the filet mignon stuffed with cheese. I could only eat half of it, the rest was too tough and chewy to finish, and the half I was able to eat was pretty tough and tasteless. - The menu description for my item didn't mention vegetables and I wanted some, so I asked if it came with vegetables. I was told yes, broccoli, carrots and peppers. Ok, great. Meal shows up, no vegetables. I ask about this, the response is like I'm bothering them. They bring out a plate of something, not sure what it is. Carrots and something I don't recognize and when I taste it, I have no idea what it is. Completely tasteless. Then 3 minutes later they bring me some broccoli, which was good. - the rest of our party of four got beef and chicken fajitas. Everyone ate about a third of their meal. When the waiter asked if they were done, they said yes. No one wanted the rest boxed up. After the plates were taken I asked how their meals were, everyone's response was "eh, not great." - the place was not particularly busy but it took forever to get our food, then a long time on the backend to get our check. - only place we've eaten where they added the tip to the bill. Now I can understand why, between mediocre food and service we would not have tipped them as much as they charged us. There are a lot of great restaurants on Isla Mujeres and perhaps this one just had a bad night. But we won't be back to give them another chance. read more

Poor service. Mediocre food. A cockroach ON our table! And to top it off, they told us they couldn't accept credit cards AFTER we ate, even though my brother had paid with a credit card there earlier in the week. Since we were leaving the next day, we didn't have all that many pesos left, so we asked if we could pay in US dollars. They said that would, but gave us an exchange rate of 15, when it was actually 18 according to the banks and every other business on the island. read more
