I did not try the food, but they have the 2 for 1 happy hour going all the time and the bartenders are cool. I tried the coconut margarita as well as the regular margarita and it was pretty good. I've been coming here sine 2009 and OMG it's amazing! I can't believe I haven't written a review for Fayne's yet. It was recommended to us by my husband's boss who is apparently great friends with the owners. Anyways, we pretty much order the same dish each time because, hey, once you find a delicious dish, why stray? I always get the lobster tail and steak with veggies and white wine. I've never been disappointed. My husband typically tries different dishes and he's never disappointed either. We've probably been here 20 times. Can't wait to go back! Fayne's has some of the best fajitas I've had on Isla Mujeres. While this place is a restaurant, it is more of a bar. We sat outside on the street, but it looked like it was kicking inside the place with black lights and neon shining. We had the Steak Fajitas and they were very tasty, seasoned just right. Ate here last night. 7.22.16 we had a group of 11. We asked if we could do 5 separate checks which they were not happy about . We wanted to order guacamole and they came back and told us they were out. Out of guacamole?! They said the avocados were not ripe enough. We then watched them serve guacamole to other tables. 3 of us at the table ordered vegetable fajitas and all three of us were sick last night and this morning. The people who arrived last night before us sat at the bar and had drinks, and paid for their drinks with a card. Then when it was time for us to pay, all of the sudden the card reader was "not working" and we had to take turns going blocks away to an ATM. I would HIGHLY not recommend this place. We ended up in Fayne's because we were looking for a place with AC to sit down and eat. We wanted to go to Amar, but it doesn't open until 5pm. Fayne's didnt hv AC but enough far to cool down for a bit. The 2 Stars was for the ambience: nice size bar, good speaker and TVs. You don't go to Fayne's for the food. Obviously due to COVID the place was not as busy as you would expect. The drinks were "2 for 1" during Happy Hour, however they were 750 pesos for 1 (okay 2 during happy hour). We all got different types of margaritas and the only thing we could agree on was that there was little to no tequila in any of the drinks. Now the food was pretty good. There prices were just OK but we figured due to COVID and limited customers they may have increased pricing. Overall a decent meal but I would suggest sticking to beer or soft drinks. With so many restaurant choices on the island, I doubt we would go back, but again decent but not worthy of a 5 Star rating. (If it wasn't during COVID would probably have rated a 3). read more

Was recommended this place by a local bartender for the fried grouper. I don't think we had grouper as it looked more like snapper, but it was good either way! The ceviche did not taste fresh but the shrimp salad that came with the combo appetizer was good. Drinks were the standout for us but a little on the high side. By the time I landed at Fayne's it was 10pm, I was beyond hungry (hangry), and just needed a simple spot to grab some tacos. As soon as I walked up to get seated I was welcomed with a huge smile by the guy manning the To-Go drink stand in front and was told to sit wherever I wanted. I was greeted by a equally smiley server who spoke very little English but it was fine as my Spanglish skills got us where we needed to be to see what the menu had to offer. They are able to serve you their offerings or food from the menu next door. I opted for the next door menu and choose the Surf & Turf. HOLY COW! This was the best white fish I have ever had in my entire life! It was flavored so darn well that I could not get over it. I asked the server when she returned if she knew what kind of fish it was but she said she did not. But, she did inform me that it was fresh catch of the day and they do this will all the fish they serve daily. The lobster was equally as fresh and the arrachera was hearty and thick. Perk, their drinks are 2x1 all night long and I was told Saturdays they are open till 4am! I would definitely go back for that fish! read more

Ordered a ceviche plate and, fish tacos plate. Ceviche was decent, 3 out 5 stars on that and fish tacos were good, not the best but decent given the fact that there's a lot of competition around. We were searching along the restaurant row on Isla Mujeres for a place for dinner. We looked at the menu the 1st time... Looked good but my husband wanted to search to see if anything else was available... Eventually we came back. A table for 4 was just leaving and the maitre d was about to seat us when another employee came by and reminded him this was a table for 4... then said there was a reservation for 20.. (no way there was room for 20 here) but that is besides the point. We were brought to another restaurant and assured it was the same... YEA NOPE it was not... WAY more expensive... not the same menu. We ordered 1 margarita and left. I don't mind being told they have no room.. (there were seats at the bar) I really hate being lied to and told it was the same... NOT THE SAME... and not a language mistake either... I speak enough spanish to ask if it was the same in spanish... He assured me it was. Not sure what was going on here... maybe they wanted to save the table for 4... maybe they wanted to direct us to a more expensive restaurant... We could have sat at the bar if asked. We ate here one evening during our Labor Day girls trip to the island. The host hassles passers-by to get them to come eat there - we were starving, so despite being annoyed, we got a table.
