Restaurant Christine was on my list for quite some time, for years actually. But alas, I just forgot about it. Then someone suggested Restaurant Christine for my birthday. I didn't even remember where it was located but was intrigued when I learned it was in a micro-hood named Tanglewood. Salmon was very good, not dry but succulent; as well as the vegetables. The Hanger Steak was amazing. Almost everything was locally sourced and you can taste it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It all just seemed to work together in a uniquely Pacific Northwest kinda way. It's as though you were eating the outdoors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The owner met with us and gave us a history of the place, followed by his chef's cuisine philosophy. Just a really pleasant conversation. My only personal gripe is that some of the elevated presentations of the cuisine itself did not meld well with some of the rustic dishes; I think their presentation should appear slightly more 'nouvelle cuisine française' and less road-side diner in some dishes. If you're looking for a delicious Italian style restaurant in the green lake area, this is the place to go. My girlfriends and I visited Restaurant Christine on a chilly Monday night. Tucked in a cute storefront in North Wallingford, street parking was readily available. We were seated fairly quickly with a reservation, which I would recommend making, but it was packed inside. We started with the focaccia and yuca appetizers, which were both delicious. Our table ordered a combo of the butternut squash ravioli, mushroom risotto, and artichoke pasta. Everyone enjoyed their dishes, though everything seemed a bit salty. We had the Restaurant Week special today. The soup and salad were interesting. But the salmon ordered by two in our party was overcooked and very dry. However the flourless chocolate cake was delicious. Another member in our party ordered the halibut cheeks sandwich.. Again over cooked. The fries were tasty and crisp but very salty. You might say why not send everything back well in my experience you don't always get an improved meal and service was very slow. We didn't want to stay another hour. Our lunch was about $125 then we added a modest tip. This included one glass of wine and one soft drink. We will not be returning. read more

Given the great reviews, I was caught by surprise to find a menu with almost no seafood options. Maybe the catch was light that day? Our choices for seafood were only three: the shrimp po'boy, a crab cake sandwich, and a sockeye salmon special. I went with turned out to be a sadly bland chicken parm, recommended over the fried zucchini by the sole waitress. My mother's crab cake sandwich was far better: crispy and luckily not blended to oblivion. I guess call ahead to ask what the menu looks like, assuming your heart is set on seafood. This place is tucked away in the Tangletown area of Wallingford. We found the wine selection to be quite good, but sadly the food was not - only mediocre. The heirloom salad was the highlight. The lamb bolognese was extremely salty and needed lots of pepper to spice it up. The tuna in the tuna special was fatty and very odd looking. A great local restaurant with good food and service! Prices are a little on the pricey side, but the quality and taste definitely make every penny worth it. They also have free street parking nearby, which is a win for Seattle! We came in on a Thursday night so it wasn't too busy and although there is one server for the entire restaurant, she was friendly and efficient. The owner/chef and a sous chef were the only ones in the kitchen, so food does take a while but neither of us minded. We tried a summer special - chilled berry soup, which was interesting. It didn't quite fit my flavor profile but I appreciated how sweet and fresh the berries were and the deep flavor of tarragon. The main star of the night was definitely the lobster ravioli, which came in a tomato sauce, topped with grilled zucchini and lump crabmeat. For dessert, we got a limoncello cake and panna cotta with marionberries. A very cute little restaurant in the Greenlake/Wallingford neighborhood. It is walking distance from Greenlake. This is very cute restaurant for a casual lunch or a nice date night dinner. We got one of the sandwiches and it was very good. We would come back and get a burger any day. We especially loved the fries. We were sad that we didn't decide to get the truffle fries. That is next on our list. I was disappointed by my dish with the chicken and asparagus. I personally did not like the flavor profile of this dish. It tasted and felt oversaturated with the gravy/sauce that it was in. It felt like it lacked another ingredient. The waitress was very kind and gave us plenty of time to make our order. Our server recommended a breaded chicken cutlet, beautifully prepared for the youngster. I was enamored with the lunch special, a nicoise salad, with tasty tuna and crispy green beans. Our son loved the wild boar bacon sandwich that he said was the best he has had, and my husband had a delicious shrimp po' boy. My colleague and I were taken to Restaurant Christine, as appreciation for our work. What an amazing restaurant! The food was absolutely outstanding! I had the Restaurant Week prix fixe menu with brussels sprouts appetizer, salmon main, and lemoncello cake for dessert. Each dish was a delightful surprise of flavor, cooked to perfection. The brussel sprouts were crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, with an orange, herb flavor - like no other sprouts I've ever tasted! The salmon was melt-in-the-mouth tender, with delicious sauce and a crunchy leaf of prosciutto to give a salty contrast to the fish. I was fairly full when a huge slice of lemon cake was placed before me, but after one bite, I devoured it all. It was light and very lemony. Everyone else in our party enjoyed their food equally. I've been fond of the various cafes, pubs, markets, and restaurants along this stretch of Tangletown for the past three decades. I had bookmarked Restaurant Christine and finally had the opportunity to stop in for a late lunch (12/10/21). This location had been three other long term restaurants, so hopefully this bodes well for the personable chef/owner onsite. It is remarkable but that this chef/owner functioned as host, wait person, and kitchen chef, and busser/dishwasher during lunch service. Thankfully, all parties seated weren't in any hurry, including myself. A pleasant site to have a leisurely lunch where one can have a relaxed conversation. The chef/owner was very welcoming with time to chat and check on tables, even answer the phone. Clearly, running this restaurant is a genuine labor of love. Doing this during the pandemic, as mentioned earlier, is truly remarkable. I had a strategic lunch, I was interested in one thing only on the seasonal menu, the Wild Mushroom Risotto ($16, with tax/tip about $21). When my dish arrived, definitely piping hot, flavorful, arborio rice perfectly toothsome, chockful of assorted mushrooms, and a shaving of parmesan. Great purveyor that supplies the restaurant with this selection. A bit of a splurge, wished there was more, and devoid of tiny hard particles. I did point this out to the chef/owner and glad I didn't do any dental damage. Nevertheless, glad I ordered it since it'll be on the menu for maybe only the next two weeks. When I see risotto on an autumn menu, I usually gravitate towards that. This is on par with the risotto at Joli in Phinney Ridge. And I myself craft a decent one too with chanterelles and reggiano parmesano. Definitely, I'll be back to check out future seasonal menu offerings. When my friends asked me where I'd like to go for my birthday dinner I said I'd really like to try this neighborhood restaurant I had just read about. They made a reservation and we were made to feel immediately welcome upon arrival. We were seated at an amazing table adjacent to the open kitchen so we could see all the action and the chef came out to say hello midway through the meal. This was a nice personalized feel to our meal here. I enjoyed the nice but not overdone ambiance to this unassuming restaurant taking over a large space in this pretty tame neighborhood. With the exception of a small sports bar nearby it is mainly a quiet little street. This new restaurant that opened in October is a bright new spot here. They are doing Grandma "goose" Christine proud here. We started with sparkling prosecco - dry and not too sweet it was the perfect starter to go with our fried Brussels sprouts and artichoke with truffle aioli. Next we had the kale salad and the Caesar salad. Finally my friends had the mushroom risotto and I enjoyed the panne di mari. The artichoke appetizer was just a half artichoke so one of my friends ordered another one with her salad later. It was cooked to perfection and had the most delicious aioli to accompany it. I might have ordered a second artichoke myself had the main entree not been filling as it was. The kale salad was unique and not crisp, rather saturated with the vinaigrette and pomegranate. I enjoyed this more than I thought I might. Finally my tagliatelle was wonderful - handmade noodles and fresh seafood just cannot be beat. The cream sauce was on the heavy side, but every bite was delicious and further convinced me that I had made the right choice. For dessert we shared the pumpkin panna cotta and that was also quite delicious - delicate yet flavorful, with good texture in just the right portion size. All in all this was the best option I could have hoped for to have a quiet intimate birthday dinner with a couple of friends. I can't wait to see what is on the menu next when we return! read more

What a charming restaurant! My friends and I came here for a late lunch on the weekend when we were in the area, right after a long stroll around Green Lake park. We had been looking up nearby places to eat and found Restaurant Christine, which boasted really great reviews. The interior of the restaurant felt simultaneously homey yet upscale, which was very impressive. The menu had a an extensive variety of dishes, and as someone who has strict food allergies, I was so appreciative by how patient all the staff was to accommodate my needs. I ended up going with the shrimp poboy sandwich, though the chef made alterations and served me grilled shrimp on a GF bun instead to abide by my gluten-free restrictions. Just as a heads up, fries are made in a shared fryer so I'd recommend subbing a side salad instead to avoid cross contamination. All the ingredients tasted so fresh! My friends ended up getting the risotta and the chicken marsala, which they thoroughly enjoyed as well. The story begins last year on a rainy January day when my boyfriend proposed to me at Green Lake park and became my fiancee. To celebrate our engagement, we went to Restaurant Christine for a late lunch. We sat by the window and ordered a duck confit salad and an elk bolognese; chocolate truffle cake for dessert. Every bite was absolutely delicious and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect meal to accompany our most special occasion. We returned again on a rainy January day today, now married, for what we have now declared to be a yearly tradition. We came once again for a late lunch, and the meal was just as delightful as it was the first time. This time we had the vongole tagliatelle and wild boar sausage pasta, plus limoncello mascarpone cake for dessert. We gave our compliments to the wait staff and the chefs and let them know how much we love their food and their work. The ambiance is somehow all at once casual, intimate and delicate. You can taste all the attention and care they put into their menu. The flavors are joyful. The wine list is impressive. The dessert is amazing. I usually post pictures, but in this case, pictures just won't do it justice. You have to see, smell and taste this experience for yourself. I hope that when you go there, your experience will be as memorable for you as it is for us. And mark our words, we will be coming back again soon (more than just yearly). We had the charcuterie (all meat including Iberico ham and mortadella, plus olives, incredible mustard and house-made focaccia), the wild boar ragu pasta (warm, bright, savory), the scallops (with turmeric rice, zucchini and little bits of bacon-style pancetta in an incredibly creamy sauce), and the limoncello cake, flourless chocolate truffle cake and french press coffee for dessert. They said the person with the key would arrive around 11:30, but we waited past 11:30 and they still did not arrive. We ended up driving somewhere else for lunch. BEST FRIES!! And amazing seafood pasta!! When we got our food, the first thing I noticed was the delicious smell of the pasta. The seafood was fresh and tender, the shrimp were so juicy. I loved the texture of pasta, they were wide egg noodles and the chewiness/bounciness was just perfect. The sauce was creamy and complemented the pasta perfectly. Such a good dish!! For my last review of the year and my 1,000th:), I wanted to go back to one of my favorite meals of the year in November. Restaurant Christine takes over a spot that used to be Brie and Bordeaux, Eva, and most recently, a Himalayan spot. It bills itself as seasonal NW comfort food, and it certainly lived up to it! Started off with some oysters which hit the spot, before moving on to some hearty entrees. While the seafood pasta was good and certainly lived up to its reputation, the hanger steak and veal marsala were even better. Both of the meat dishes had killer sauces, and the quality of the protein was definitely good. Don't skip dessert - the chocolate cake was very decadent, but our favorite was a panna cotta with a fig compote - so good! Our server did a great job taking care of us, and the only minor pet peeve would be I wish that they would have a few more Euro wines on the menu.
