We try to support our neighborhood businesses. Have lived here 30 years. This restaurant has had different owners. We are so bummed about this one. Gave it a 2nd chance again, but it failed. Ordered a couple of meals to go about 4 months ago and I had to throw mine out. My husband ate part of his and threw the rest out. Last night we gave it one more go. Ordered 2 burgers to go. Asked for no onions or sauce. Got home and found they had onions and sauce on them of course. Took a few bites and threw both burgers out. And it cost us $77. $10 was a tip. Tangletown Public House is a neighborhood joint serving both locals at the bar and families with their family friendly seating. There's also a pleasant patio that will see use in the summer but not on this chilly February night. The bar offered a collection of micro pub brews with the classics such as Pliny the Elder IPA and local finds. (See pic attached) The menu is elevated pub grub and pizzas while staying away from the more pretentious "gastropub" offerings. We split a Green Goddess salad and a burger with a side of delicious fries. I had the Stoup Cerevezita while my partner ordered a Margarita. Service was friendly and so were the other patrons. We chose to hang around to watch Olympic Curling after finishing our meaI while enjoying the neighborhood vibe. Stopped here to split a pie with my friend on a chilly Monday evening. One thing that they'll proudly advertise here at the TangleTown Public House is that they're open on Monday's, seemingly a jab at many restaurants on the man stretch of 45th as well as Tangletown proper that are often closed on Mondays. It shows as most of the folks here looked like regulars getting their evening sips and outside of that, pretty empty, weekends however it livens up and there even appears to be a stage for music. The restaurant has sort of two sections one with more table like seating and on the other, bar counter and high-top seating. The draw here are drinks, with decent beer selection. My friend and I decided to split a pie - A Keystone - Zoe's pepperoni, aged and fresh mozzarella, Parmesan, Red sauce. As someone who openly trashes Seattle Pizza, I have to say for bar pizza, it wasn't bad. 4 slices between the two of us for $25. Dough tasted good as did all the ingredients. I would consider coming here again and would recommend if you're out looking to share a pie with some friends. The snag was my friend got an Arnold Palmer, and they charged like $6-$7, like c'mon really, it's not even spiked. There is an outdoor area which is nice. Overall though Tangle Town Public House is pretty good and seems to be the anchor of the "Tangle Town" part of Wallingford. read more

Tried this place for the first time and absolutely loved it. I sat in the bar area and my server was Sydney. Super nice guy that was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, and also about music which we talked about at great length. I got the Grinder sandwich which was amazing. We also got the Sausage Boat ($20), and OMG, it was a cheese lover's dream! Oh man where do I even begin.... The food was incredible. I tried multiple items and here are my thoughts Garlic Puffs that everyone talks about was worth getting, it's kind of like the puffy version of mozzarella cheese sticks in a sense The roasted pork belly gochujang was SUPER DELICIOUS, great pairing with beer for sure Dave's Pizza was amazing, generous amount of toppings and pizza dough taste very fresh Do NOT sleep on the Fried Green Tomatoes caprese because that was by far the best food item on the menu for me Italian Meatball Cheese Boats was really good and cheesy, it was also my very first time eating cheese boats and I was satisfied. I also ordered the blueberry whiskey sour for my cocktail and it was a solid choice because I like my drinks fruity. Parking is very convenient around the blocks, free street parking The service is just like regular pubs so nothing above and beyond service The ambiance is much better than I would expect, they serve brunch on Friday-Sundays and it is kids friendly also. Sunny Monday night when many restaurants and bars are closed, this place was open, so we went. The place was more than 3/4 full. Outdoor patio was full. And there's just one server and a bartender. It took forever for the server to take our order, and we saw our drinks ready at the bar but he was just too busy running around by himself, we didn't get drinks for a while. We offered to get them ourselves but he said no, and he went to get them. We were facing the kitchen and saw tons of food waiting to be served. Salads were sitting there for at least 15 min. Then pizzas were there for a while. There wasn't enough room for new food to be places there and we heard the kitchen staff ringing the bell but he was outside getting orders. Still when he comes back, he sees all the food ready to be delivered but he was busy putting orders. People came inside to see if they could pay, need a check, etc.... This server looks new and kind of slow, but it's not his fault. He was doing at least 3 people worth work all by himself. He didn't look frustrated or panicked....calm but kind of slow. He went to get more water for the empty pitchers instead of getting those food sitting to be served for 15 plus minutes. We saw our food ready and sitting for a while and I finally went to tell him I could get my own food? He said "It's okay. Your food is under the heater" Hmm..that's not the point though. Salads were still sitting there and finally their bartender came and get those. We finally got our food. Food was nothing special...it wasn't bad but nothing special. We asked for check and the server told us "Sorry for the delay" It's not his fault though. We felt bad for him, but he could move a little faster but still he was doing his best. I don't know if someone called in sick, or they didn't think it would be busy....but wish we didn't go there and won't go back again. read more

TLDR: Bad service, undercooked (raw) pizza dough, no response from ownership. We wanted to try this out again since we read about the new ownership. The only server seemed overwhelmed, even though the place was only 25% occupied. My Avocado "cheese boat" had a ton of liquid inside, as if the onions and red peppers hadn't been fully cooked. Then, as I worked my way across the bread, I thought I was eating gooey cheese in the center and realized it was raw pizza dough. So gross. The server never came by to check in, so I told him when we asked for the check that half of my cheese boat bread was uncooked. His response was, "Oh, that sucks." He walked off, brought our bill (no deduction), and left. We would love to support a small business, but we won't be back. read more

I used to go sporadically to the Elysian Brewery that was at this location, but had never gone back after it had changed to the TangleTown Public House. I'm glad I finally made it! I met a couple of friends for dinner. Service was prompt and friendly (Leslie was a wonderful server), and we snagged a great spot outside. The beer selection was phenomenal; Leslie mentioned that one of the owners of TangleTown was also a founder of Elysian, and personally selected the beers on the menu. It really was a great set of beers. (FYI, I got the Russian River Pliny the Elder, but would've been happy with just about any other.) For my meal, I ordered the Coppa Cabana pizza. The pizza is made without the traditional marinara sauce, and was topped with roasted garlic and Zoe's coppa. Scrumptious! One of my friends got one of the cheese boats (the Avocado boat) and loved it, although she did mention it was loaded with carbs and cheese. She took half of it home! My other friend got the TangleTown Burger, and really liked it. I think I'll be back! Certainly a lot sooner than 4 years!!! read more

I stumbled upon this pub when I was wasting time before a flight out of Sea-Tac. I ordered coconut prawns and prosciutto & melon starters. Both were delicious and high quality. The menu has a wide selection of pizzas, salads, sandwiches and khachapuri, Georgian cheese bread. The service in the bar area was prompt and welcoming. Most people were locals who came in to catch up with friends and the staff. It was a delightful, quick lunch in one of the cutest neighborhoods in Seattle. Outstanding khachipuri, which is a boat shaped Georgian pizza. It is the perfect mix of a dollop of sweet tomato sauce, mozzarella, ricotta, sausage and spices on a beautiful stuffed cheesy crust. It's a hit. The pepperoni pizza was covered with a generous helping of cheese and pepperoni. The thin crust was chewy and crunchy in all the right places. We ordered two drinks, a sandwich, a burger, and the sausage khachapuri - inspired cheese boat. The drinks were heavily iced cocktails that didn't taste like much; neither alcohol or fruity flavors came through. The sandwich was good, burger was nothing special, and the sausage cheese boat was just a pizza with areas of stuffed crust that was raw, marinara sauce that might as well have come from a can, and very salty sausage. Forgot to pay the salt bill? Usually, I think most restaurants make their food too salty, but my experience here was the opposite end of the spectrum: not enough salt. I'm all for letting the natural flavors take center stage, but some things need flavoring. For example, polenta is quite bland without salt or likewise. And just drizzling olive oil on spinach isn't good enough. Furthermore, a thin ring of balsamic vinegar can't make up for lack of spices. Lastly, the blackened fish tacos were just that. Blackened fish. And again, no flavor beyond that. Would a dash of salt hurt? But I will praise the food for its freshness. No wilted spinach leaves. read more

I recently moved around the corner and popped in with some friends after a day of moving...it was quiet in there for a Saturday night... the menu looked good but unfortunately the sandwich I had - the chicken sandwich- was overwhelmed by the sauce that came with it and the whole meal just tasted like dill....my friend had the burger and said the sauce on that overwhelmed the meat too. I've also been in for a drink before and the bar-tender seemed annoyed when I asked for recommendations....but I get that everyone has bad days! My husband and I walked to this relaxed little spot just to have a beer. It wasn't quite dinner time so it was nice and quiet inside, and we sat at the bar. Casey helped us and was amazing! Although I have to say, all of the staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. We got a couple local brews and a bowl of the clam chowder. Unlike the newest reviewer below me, the kitchen needs SERIOUS oversight from management. I was there just in the last 2 weeks and ordered the chicken sandwich. It arrived at my table almost RAW! And the French fries that came with the order were clearly frozen, crispy on the outside but mushy on the inside. I don't mind the a new menu but they took off a couple of their most popular items. I doubt I will be back, and I was a long time supporter of the old place. read more

So, I see a lot of old reviews here, but I believe this changed owners in early 2019, and it changed its name to Tangletown Public House. It used to be an Elysian brewpub. The food is much improved over the old Elysian place. I've been to the new place a couple of times and have been very happy with the steak frites (ordered medium rare) - a healthy chunk of meat, nicely cooked (seared outside, soft inside), blue cheese, kale, and perfect fries. The kale, cheese, and meat work really well together. (The previous place gave me an uninspired dish with overcooked meat, and I regretted my order.) My six year old loves the grilled cheese sandwich on the kids menu. It has two kinds of cheese on it, which tells me some thought has been put into the dish. read more

I always over order as I can never decide between the best pizza ever, the fried cauliflower that is to die for (NOT greasy or overly breaded), the fried green tomato caprese salad that is unlike anything I've ever had, the delectable, finger licking wings, the salads that raise the bar on salads everywhere.... Went here for a late dinner and drinks last week with a few friends. I live only a few blocks away and I've been excited to have a go-to spot nearby. Unfortunately, I was less than impressed. All the people were sitting out on the patio as it was a super warm night. We agreed to sit inside but asked to move out when something opened up. The host said that would be no problem. When the time came we asked to move outside and our waiter said they were closing the patio. That seemed like they missed an easy opportunity to please a new customer...but we just said oh well. The food took a very long time to arrive. Tasted good although the fried tomato sandwich has too many fried things in my opinion. With the super crispy toasted bread and the fried tomatoes it could use some more vegetables. My friends salad looked very good though. On the plus side, I ordered a cucumber sour that was very tasty! Then when it came to paying at the end we had more issues. We already tried to ask for separate tabs and our waiter insisted on just doing it at the end, so we didn't argue. But then he brought one tab and dropped it and left. My friend asked him when he came back if it would be alright to split it up and he replied with something to the effect of "what - you can't just throw four cards down?" Then begrudgingly walked away and split the tabs. My three friends paid with cards and I paid w cash. The waiter asked if I needed change and I said yes. So he takes the books, rings the cards, and brings them back without saying anything about my change. He then brings my change like 10 minutes later, giving me a $1 and a $5, making it very difficult to tip. Luckily my friend had change for a $5. They also started stacking chairs on tables while new people were still coming in - very tacky! I really wanted to like this place but I left very underwhelmed. May be willing to try again in a few months to see if they have better service by then. read more
