The servers are nice. I am almost hesitant to leave a good review because I want to keep this place less busy but they deserve all the praise. For my last review of the year and my 1,000th:), I wanted to go back to one of my favorite meals of the year in November. Restaurant Christine takes over a spot that used to be Brie and Bordeaux, Eva, and most recently, a Himalayan spot. It bills itself as seasonal NW comfort food, and it certainly lived up to it! Started off with some oysters which hit the spot, before moving on to some hearty entrees. While the seafood pasta was good and certainly lived up to its reputation, the hanger steak and veal marsala were even better. Both of the meat dishes had killer sauces, and the quality of the protein was definitely good. Don't skip dessert - the chocolate cake was very decadent, but our favorite was a panna cotta with a fig compote - so good! Our server did a great job taking care of us, and the only minor pet peeve would be I wish that they would have a few more Euro wines on the menu. Overall, one of my favorite meals in 2022, and hope to visit again soon in 2023! read more

Wow. We were 4 show going guests dining early before the show. First, the service is so pro, and it shows. Grace under stress and friendly. I went to Restaurant Christine today with my daughter for a birthday lunch. It's a white-tablecloth restaurant, but my young daughter was totally welcome there. We sat near the window and the neighborhood view was great for people watching. I got the brisket sandwich - SO GOOD and tender and juicy, with the perfect condiments. My daughter got breaded chicken and French fries in a customized plate that they made for her. She is a picky eater, and she loved her food too. We also got the pistachio cannoli with a candle in it for dessert (comped for my birthday!). It was decadent and delicious. On top of all that, prices were very good, and service was amazing! Our server Cody was awesome and so kind and friendly to both me and my daughter. I'm so glad we chose this restaurant. Wish we had tried it sooner, but glad that we live walking distance, because we will be back! I know the menu is seasonal, but we could order the exact same thing next time and be totally happy. I hate to write a negative review about any one or place, but this needs to be said. We visited on my birthday, which was noted with the reservation. Firstly, no mention or acknowledgement upon arrival... not a huge deal. But, secondly, when we ordered a $65 bottle of wine, which was brown-ish when poured and tasted of raisins/prune juice, would not be replaced or taken back. Our server was put in the embarrassing position, after consulting the owner, of telling us that we would have to accept it regardless and offered to decant. Shocked, but trying to be accepting of the situation (though we've never had to do this before), we watched as she decanted and large chunks of sediment clung to the whole spout of the decanter. We tried to give it a moment to improve, but it was just plain awful and unacceptable to drink. And, we had to 'eat' the $65 even after mentioning that this was my birthday dinner. There was no adjustment to the bill whatsoever. $200 +$30 we won't get back. Later that evening, I searched for the correct protocol regarding rejecting a corked bottle of wine, and the very first thing mentioned was the color. If it's brownish, it's off. Second, was the prune or vinegar taste... and no matter what, the distributor or winery takes the bottles that are returned back, so the business does NOT have to incur any charge, period. So, this needs to be a lesson to any who dine here and purchase a bottle of wine... you are paying for it, literally. Lastly, we had purchased a bottle from a wine shop recently and it was off. A friend who is a wine expert, pointed out that if there is discoloration from wine that has gone up into the cork (not just at the very bottom) it is also bad as the cork is porous and air gets in... something I'll look at from now on. I brought it in 3 days later and it was taken back immediately with no issue and I was told that the winery would take any bottles back, proving my point from restaurant. Lots of lessons learned. I stopped in for lunch while wandering the neighboring Greenwood in search of achiote paste. I ordered the shrimp Po Boy and fries. The brioche bun was toasted just right and the fries were near 12 step program dangerous! The shrimp was cooked perfectly and crunchy on the outside. Their lunch and dinner menus consist of many such scrumptious selections and I insist you give them a shot. They have just opened and are building their clientele. The menu intrigued me with its game meats and fried frog shanks on the menu, but it was really the hospitality and warmth of chef Adam and server Cody that blew me away. There is nothing like building a community and really getting to know the people who are part of it, so for both of them to take the time to get to know us and share their food with us was the most heartwarming feeling. It's not just about the food, which is very good, but being part of a family where you're welcomed in the home of the restaurant. Went there for Valentine Day. A new restaurant, understaff but those that were working were nice. Our waitress was waiting on us, other tables, busting tables and helping managing the plates. Don't go hungry! Our reservations was at 6pm and didn't leave until 8:45pm. We ordered our drinks and apps and waited over an hour for our meal. At this point I ask the waitress why so long and she explained that this was the first time they had so many people and that they are short staff. I only wished that she had communicated at the beginning and we would have been more understanding. Our dinner was really good. I really liked the red velvet cake. It was very moist! We went for a late lunch, the restaurant was empty except for three or four staff. We ordered just two burgers with bacon as an add-on for $36 before tips and tax. The waiter told us that they had the best burgers in town. It turned out the burgers were okay, the patties were small almost tiny compared to the standard sized bun, the bacon was overly greasy, topped with a single pickle and the flavor was simple. What disappointed us was the portion and quality of the fries that came with the meal and how the waiter handled the situation. Half of the already small portion of fries were small broken segments, roughly less than half inch long, leftovers or dregs of whatever fries from earlier in the day. I pointed this out to the waiter and he tried to gaslight me by saying that had we ordered the burgers off the dinner menu which were an extra $3 per meal, then we would have received more fries. I reiterated to him that my displeasure was less about the paltry quantity but mostly about the quality of the broken bits of leftover fries. I don't know if he understood but he did ultimately offer to bring us extra fries. We waited for about 15 minutes, by then my husband completed his meal and as I chewed on the last bite of my burger, the waiter who had spent that time chatting with his coworkers reappeared empty handed. He said that there were only more small bits and pieces of the same dregs and that they would need to "shuck more potatoes" in order to make more fries, and rambled about some excuse about how they just got rid of staff and were shorthanded. The mere fact that he waited until we were done eating to tell us that he was not going to bother following through informed us of the type of establishment they were running. My husband paid the bill and rightfully did not leave a tip. Our water cups were never filled during service, no condiments were ever offered. Bottom line is that we were not tended to so zero service deserves nothing extra. Tips should never be automatic. I think this place is probably loved and patronized by locals who don't have more choices. For us, we will keep looking for a better meal with service elsewhere. read more
