BEWARE of Scam and Intimidation Tactics at Garibaldi Restaurant. Stay far away from this establishment. My recent experience at Garibaldi was nothing short of a nightmare. Upon being lured in by a friendly employee, my friends and I found ourselves seated outside. The service was lackluster, and the food was mediocre at best. But the real trouble began when we ordered drinks. Two of our margaritas were suspiciously absent of any alcohol, despite us paying for extra shots. When we inquired about it, they grudgingly brought us the shots, only to later discover they had charged us extra for them. The real shock came when we received the bill. They attempted to charge us an exorbitant $600 for just six drinks and three tacos. Initially claiming they only accepted cash, they conveniently changed their tune when we revealed we didn't have any. Even worse, they attempted to tack on an additional 7% surcharge for using Amex, a detail conveniently omitted beforehand. As if the blatant price gouging wasn't enough, the staff resorted to intimidation tactics when we refused to pay their outrageous demands. They surrounded us on the street, targeted our white, non-Spanish speaking friends, threatening to involve the police and accusing us of attempting to dine and dash. Despite us leaving more than a reasonable amount of cash and attempts to reason with them, they adamantly refused to budge. The interior of the bar was in a sorry state, with dirty restrooms and malfunctioning faucets. To top it off, I overheard inappropriate behavior in the men's restroom, further adding to the unsettling atmosphere. Upon reading other reviews, it's clear that our experience was not an isolated incident. Multiple patrons have fallen victim to similar scams and aggressive tactics. An unapologetically fraudulent establishment. That isn't exaggeration, I don't use that term lightly. It's difficult to put into words the full experience. This place would not exist in the United States. They have staff trawling through the streets after a cruise ship docks to trick tourists into sitting at their restaurant. They have fake menus with fake prices printed on their table. They have fake conversion charts to make it look like you're getting a good deal. You order a meager 2 street tacos and 2 margaritas and the bill (after conversion) shows $80+ USD. You try to argue, they pull in the cops. Stay informed, do your research. There are plenty of good deals to be had in Ensenada. It's got it's rough spots, it's got a ton of locals trying to extract as much juice from the tourists as possible. This place is in a good location, short walk from where the cruise ships land in Ensenada (near the civic plaza). That's about the best part. I ordered some shrimp tacos which came with literally nothing but fried shrimp and a tortilla, no lettuce, not even a side of limes. The tortillas were mediocre as well. All this could be fine but the bill was crazy expensive. We ordered two plates of shrimp tacos, a Coca Cola, a water, and some chips with guacamole. The total was $60 (US Dollars) which is insanity for food that wasn't even good. I'm not a skinny guy, and I didn't even finish my taco plate it was that bland. El Restaurante Garibaldi en ensenada roba. This place will rob you, que rateros. They have no menu, they make suggestions and they will charge up to 4 times what other decent restaurants will charge. They suck , we were sucked in by the street Hustler soliciting business, we sat down no menu "Janky" we ordered "4" fish taco's they where fish stick taco's could have done better in the states. We where harassed by a shady little character with a raiders jersey pretending to be a person of authority. Lies, lies, lies. There was no language barrier. Clearly said 1 taco. Steve did not inform us its 3 tacos per an order, so we received 6 tacos when we only wanted 2. Then they charged 15% extra for credit card so our $50 taco bill with no alcohol became $60. Then tipped in cash not knowing additional charges, leaving us at a total of $70. Weak margaritas did not taste like any alcohol and they were expensive. The waiter was rude and when I asked about our food after waiting more than 20 minutes, a second waiter decided to murmur his thoughts even though I was not speaking to him.
