It could be so much more. The young bartender struggled to keep up with a crowd that was fairly small. At one point, there were 6-7 people sitting at the bar and they all had empty glasses and were trying to gain his attention. He was quite oblivious to the situation. Ginger was conveniently located near my hotel, and not wanting to drive anywhere after being in the car all day, it was an ideal choice. The staff were friendly and the restaurant itself was visually interesting. I ordered the veggie supreme pizza, which was tasty, and a glass of wine. Things I wasn't a huge fan of: 1. I got 4 menus. A food menu, a wine menu, and 2 cocktail menus. They were all large, hard-bound menus and it was awkward and just too much. 2. My pizza came out uncut and my waitress presented me with a sharp knife to cut it myself. This is the restaurant attached to Hotel Plaza Quebec and also provides the room service for the hotel. The following is only for the room service. Ginger offers a deal including two personal 9-inch pizzas, two glasses of red or white wine and two soft drinks. My girlfriend and I had just had about an 11 hour day getting to the hotel and decided to order that since it was easiest. The food got to the room quickly (25-30 minutes) but aside from that, nothing was really worth it. The package is $37 Canadian, a decent overcharge for what amounted to two microwave pizzas, two bitter glasses of wine and some Pepsi. I did not dine at the restaurant, especially after this experience. Everything seemed overpriced and based on the other reviews, no great experience was missed. read more

Great good, family oriented, and our waiter was awesome I'm sorry I don't recall his name but he's originally from Madagascar. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and the service and food from Ginger. Well it took forever to be waited on and the chef obviously did not know how to make Spicy Salmon sushi. World wide staple in my opinion of avocado, spicy mayo, cucumber, salmon (mixed with mayo or whole). Instead I got more of a vegie roll and then salmon but nothing of what I order or expected. If they said I don't know how make spicy salmon it would have been better than to send garbage to my table. Other than that great atmosphere. read more

came from usa to visit for first time in canada. this was the restaurant next to our hotel. food was lousy and over priced. seafood stew is a small maybe 2 oz portion of stew then rice and undercooked veggies. teriyaki salmon was fine. caesar salad was salty. and bolognese spaghetti was bland. but beyond that the server, simon, was awful and did not attend to us not once. it took 15 minutes for a coke and another fifteen to order. whenever we tried to flag him down he looked right at us and walked away. had three others server try and get him. nothing. restaurant was not busy. took us twenty minutes to try and leave! read more

Okay so I've eaten here a few times because it is close to where I am staying and convenient. Their English translations could use some work, to say the least. I recommend asking for a more detailed description before ordering your dish. In a restaurant where whiskey sauce is the same as Texas BBQ....you have been warned. Burnt nachos. Two for service. Food wise it's not the best, had limited options since we arrived in Quebec City late and this was in our hotel. I got the jack chicken and it was drowned in sauce, fries were old and burnt. My group also got the lobster club and it was not fresh , the spaghetti bolgonesse was also drowned in sauce, seafood linguine was okay. Stayed in the hotel attached to the bar for a night, decided to go to the bar for a drink - only to find the bar had zero supplies. One of my friends ordered a strawberry daiquiri, did not have the supplies. I ordered a piña colada, no supplies. The service was slow, the waiters didn't smile once, and when we were ready to leave we had to find the waiter to pay. The inattentiveness of this restaurant results in a low score. It got two stars because the atmosphere was nice, and the hotel it's attached to is excellent. My advise: walk down the road to a better bar. read more

Not good. Charcuterie plate and Italian salad. For $9 I expected more than 4 tiny mini-bocconcini in my salad... hell, I expected more salad. It was drenched in overly sweet dressing and the artichokes in the salad still had the crunchy outside leaves on. Sure signs of a careless cook. Also both the salad and the charcuterie plate had olives - fine and great I love olives - but they are the tiny green pimento stuffed ones they put in a drink. Really?? Charcuterie plate at $13 - I am fairly sure both salami were nothing special - the pate I will give them was made in house, so that was on me for it not really being my thing. Condiments provided (couple jellies) were bland. Salad with it was one slice of cucumber (literally covered with dressing), one cherry tomato, some lettuce. Bread was dry. Left most of it. To be fair I did eat the salad because I was hungry as hell. Caesar (drink) was alright, relatively hard to screw that up. I did mention all of the above to my waiter - who by the way was excellent. I cannot fault the service. Unfortunately when the cheque came they didn't comp anything. Would have hoped for maybe at least the drink? Great ambience and good desserts. The ribs dish is great and so is the fried food on the appetizers. The Chinese pasta is horrible, very under seasoned, dry meat and no sauce. Pasta to no sauce ratio policy. Easy option if you stay at hotel adjoining the restaurant. read more

Yeah pretty much sucks. Food was bland, typical fresh from frozen. Only reason we went here was because it was in our hotel and we had a long day driving. Came to the bar a second night for a quick drink, took 5 minutes to pour a Scotch. Overpriced and definitely not worth it. Go elsewhere. read more
