This place was absolutely amazing. I don't mean to come across as a pompous ass, however, am rarely amazed and this time I'm proud to say I am.
This is one of the best meals I've had in Europe overall let alone on my 9 country Euro trip.
The service was good and their food was nothing short of great.
I began with their Saisonal Ratatouille. It has a crispy strudel dough and "Abseer" ewe's milk cheese €13,00.
They also offer 2 variations of warm bread with 3 different kinds of butter. A regular butter, curry butter and a cream cheese sort. I don't recall exactly. All three were good, especially the curry butter being so unique and good.
They also offer an hors d'oeuvre. A dish to whet your appetite complementary. It included what appeared to be a sliced boiled egg of quail, prosciutto, salad and a green sauce that was contrast the rest quite well.
As an entrée; I had the Roasted filet of Salzburg Natural Beef with onion marmalade, layered potato cake, and artichoke-rocket vegetables €31,00. It was truly fantastic. Every thing from the layered potato cake to the onion marmalade, which all unique and extremely pleasant. The filet was great and should go without saying if their sides are that great. Although, there are rare occasions I've had that the sides blow the main dish out of the water.
Next was the Wild herb Tortellini with sage butter and white port wine foam €21,00. That was also a great dish. The foam made it very interesting in a good way.
Last but certainly not least dessert. The Plum-Cookie Tiramisu with caramelized macadamia nuts is like nothing you'd expect. Every single bit of it was fantastic. Truly not enough. The portions were good. But you'll of course want more because they're so good. Regardless of how full you may be. All and all, a great experience.
The only complaint I have is that I find it a bit ridiculous for the restaurant to have a cover charge of €3,40 per person for no reason. I've been to many other establishments that have for the purpose of having a concert, live music, comedians, something to justify it. Not just because. I feel bad for the family of 8 sitting in the restaurant. They would have had to pay €27,20 just to sit in the restaurant.
I am not frugal. I'll spend the money if it's justified. read more
