Visited for the first time and my wife ordered flautas and I ordered Chile relleno! Both were very good and the flautas would had been better if the chicken would had some seasonings in the chicken. Pretty plain. The Chile relleno was excellent and they knew what they were doing there ! Service was great but restaurant booths were pretty small and place appears it needs a little updating. We'll probably give it another try but there are others in Athens that we will try first. read more

Came to Athens to eat only to find the restaurant we were headed to was closed. Happened upon a review of this place and decided to try it. OMG I'm so glad we did! The food is amazing. Stayed in Athens, TX for a few days and came here one day for lunch. Got the Pastor tacos and shredded chicken tacos. Very tasty! The tortillas are homemade, warm and so good....so good in fact that we came back the next day. Got the Migas on the second day (photo attached). These Migas are the best I've had in a very long time. Perfect blend of eggs, peppers, sausage and the chips are still crunchy. Also try the Sopapillas - they are fresh and so good! read more

1st time visit and pleasantly surprised. Ordered a a grilled chicken fajita salad with fresh sliced avocado and it was very, very good! My waitress brought out a complimentary soup, similar to what my mom use make called macaroni and tomatoes except this had spaghetti with a very tasty tomato broth! It was wonderful! My only complaint was the tea was a little too watered down..but this Mexican restaurant is fantastic! read more

One of Athen's hidden jewels. Delicious Mexican food at value prices. Daily specials at under $8, including drink. My wife and I drive from Malakoff a couple of times a week because we love the place, and we're addicted to their food. Their green avocado salsa is outstanding, I could drink it from a cup. Their Carne Guisido is top-notch, as are the enchiladas, Tacos, and Burritos. No alcohol is served, but we go for the food not to drink. Attentive waitresses make you feel welcome. read more

O! Las tortillas de harina! Ate breakfast here yesterday and was blown away by the made-in-house flour tortillas. Just thick enough to remain hot and soft while you eat them. These are the best I've ever had outside Olivia's in Floresville. The migas were a little long on chips and short on eggs, but my wife said the rancheros sauce o her huevos rancheros was excellent. Very friendly, efficient staff. Will be going back for the daily lunch specials. read more

Not much to look at on the outside or the inside, for that matter but...this joint probably served me the best g-damned chile relleno I've ever eaten. Waitress was adorable and on top of everything. Today I got the Carne Asada- and instantly my taste buds transformed into an ecstatic dancing chorus singing "Hallelujah!" And "Praise The Lord for this Mexican food"! I've been seeing this place and finally stopped to get something to take home with me. The waitress was very nice and helped me navigate the menu. The menu looked good. I placed my order then went to the restroom. A very small single use room. It was filthy. The trash can was full the toilet looked like it had overflowed. There was wet toilet paper on the floor. The rest of the floor looked like it hadn't been mopped or attended to in days. I canceled my order and left. I go by the rule that he areas you let the customers see are cleaner than the areas you don't. I couldn't even think what the kitchen looked like. read more

i was here earlier with some friends and we were all very disappointed !!!! started with the waitress (Mia) being very disrespectful and judgmental towards us!! we felt very uncomfortable with her service. and then she took a 30 min break in between getting our food ( we seen her sitting in the corner on her phone) once we all got our meals food was just COLD we left very unhappy, and js disappointed. will NEVER go back there again. read more

Looked up Mexican food near Athens, since I was in the area, and this place popped up . Overall, it had good reviews and the pictures posted looked appetizing, so I decided to give it a try. It's a small restaurant, but the food speaks for itself. I ordered soft beef tacos and the poblano chili relleno, and it all tasted fresh. Staff were friendly and made sure I had sauces that I liked. The guacamole cream sauce is Really good. I will be back to try other items. read more

This was the most nastiest food I have ever ate my wife ordered a torta and the meat tasted like if it was at the bottom of a trash can soaking in trash can juice. there flavored fresh water tasted like the pineapple juice you get can buy at Walmart diluted with water and I ordered some enchiladas which had no flavor and just tasted bad will never go back worst experience ever waitresses were all right but never came back to refill drinks and for that they get one star I'd give no stars but it don't give that option so whoever read this please find someone else to eat read more

Underrated, cute, homey, humble restaurant in Athens. I had driven by it several times & kept forgetting to come in & try their food. But I finally got around to it one day. The staff were friendly & helpful. I think the restrooms were well-maintained (one-seaters? But I kinda forgot if I even visited the restroom while here, I kept forgetting to write this review, as it is a few weeks overdue.). I remember that they serve breakfast all day, & they have some good vegetarian-friendly items on their menu. I had some breakfast burritos, one bean & cheese, & the other was egg & potato. I may have even tried mixing them up & adding some salsa or hot sauce (or even guacamole) to them. I think I ate half of them & took the rest to-go, since they were kinda big burritos. But since breakfast burritos are available all day, they kinda remind me of Oscar's Burritos in Midland, Texas (where I lived prior to September 2014). I definitely hope to return to this place! I like them even more than Ochoa's down the street to the northwest. read more

I was kind of leary about coming here because I passed by it on two separate occasions and there was an empty parking lot. I read a lot of reviews about this place and they were positive. So my husband says let's go check it out. I am so glad we did! Now, I am full blooded hispanic and this food reminds me of the food I grew up on. The lady working was very polite and the restaurant was very clean. Let me tell you again, the food was awesome! The only issue I had was with the tortillas. A little bit too salty for my taste. But of course, my stepmom who made her tortillas from scratch, are the best in the world. So, I really recommend this restaurant whole heartedly. My lesson? Dont judge a book by its cover, if you do, you might miss out on a good story. read more

Would recommend this mom and pop place to anybody craving good Mexican food. Machacado con juevos ala Mexicana. This is the only place I have found this dish that wasn't in deep south Texas. Fantastic. They are trying to upgrade and renovate this worn out building, but the food is great and the prices are a bargain. They do struggle mightily to make a proper American style breakfast however. Place looked decent from the outside, but the inside was old and outdated. Ceiling tiles water stained with mold and the upholstery was torn on the booth backing. Ordered the Huevos Rancheros which was smothered in a super runny tomato sauce with no texture to it. Tasted like watered down Spaghetti Sauce. Chips and Salsa were fresh. Service was good, but I was one of very few in the restaurant. They have a Jalapeno Green Sauce that I like is why I gave it another star. read more

This place was filthy inside and out. Our menu was covered in food as well as many unbused tables. The waitress was rude and acted as though we were a huge inconvenience that we were there. The guacamole was runny. There were 5 in our party and none enjoyed our meal. To top off our experience a drunk man who seemed to be friends with the staff came in carrying a 12 pack of beer stumbling through the restaurant.
