I had the chicken quesadillas and they were nice. Generous amount of chicken in the quesadilla. Guacamole is included. The salsa served with chips was excellent. Nice heat kick and made daily. Great Tex-Mex menu, promptly served by cheerful, efficient waitresses. Prices are reasonable for both food and drink. It can be pretty busy and gets rather loud but not obtrusive at all. read more

Finally!!! After moving to Eustace we found a good Mexican restaurant we have been to a few and this one is so far the best. Let's start with the chips and salsa the chips were not the best but good and the salsa not too hot but it did have flavor just missing a little heat but some people like it that way. How do you like your salsa? So the wife and I ordered the Beef Fajitas for 2 and they came out perfect and tender, like you can take a bite and not pull out all of your meat, it was tender, on top of that the serving size was enough for us to take home and have a few each the next day. Now they need to up the game when it comes to the guacamole and sour cream and cheese when you order for two. The beans and rice were good the rice just a hair undercooked but still good. The service was great our drinks stayed filled the whole time we were eating. Not a bad price for everything we had and as much food as we received. The inside is very clean and nice not too much light but enough. We really enjoyed this restaurant I give it 4 out of 5. There were just a couple things I could pick on. read more

Ate here with my neighbor on two separate occasions the service was horrible. We had a man waiter who had a language barrier so good luck trying to get what you actually ordered. When I brought this to the attention of the man taking the money I was met with a cavalier attitude and was told I didn't have to come back. As a business owner myself I hope the Owners of this establishment realize that in "Business" Word of mouth is everything and I personally have seen many restaurants fail after they become to big to care about their customers. read more

The absolute worst. Food was terrible. They charged for the salsa and chips. The kick in the stomach was that the chips were actually burnt and the salsa tasteless. The place is large, so getting a table at lunch was easy, even when there were about ten of us. Service was very friendly and quick. The food is very good- served piping hot. And the lunch specials can't be beaten for the price. If I am out this way again, I will for sure drop-in. read more

I always recommend Ochoa's to my friends and family visiting from the big city in Athens or Canton! The family who owns and runs Ochoa's are the nicest, kindest, most generous group of people in our two respective counties of Henderson and Van Zandt. They are always accommodating and the food is so so so so good! They make a point to know their customers whether they are just visiting or are regulars. Never ever a bad meal at Ochoa's. Food is fresh, well prepared, and always hot. Love their salsa and guac. You must eat at Ochoa's, an East Texas tradition. read more

Good stuff but not quite as good as their sister restaurant, down the road in Malakoff. Came on a busy night & maybe that's why. Had a chile relleno & flautas. BF had the usual beef enchiladas. Service was spotty but the food was pretty good. Needed salsa & drink refills but never got them. That would never happen at their other location. Ate their with family, our waitress was a bit forgetful. Took about 20-30 minutes to bring drinks out. We got 3 Ochoa's specials & 1 kid grill cheese sub fries with rice. I ate dinner there last night, chicken fajitas .....the bottom line is dinner left me feeling like I was eating out of a garbage can. Nothing about the dinner felt like it was prepared with care. The chips were old, cold and tasted like old grease, there is no excuse for that....change the grease, spend a little money, heat them up, add paper to the bowl so it looks like a restaurant not your son's house. The guacamole was passable, the presentation was lacking and it would have been nice if I didn't have to ask for a plate. The fajitas had no taste, one strip of green pepper, burned onions and burned small pieces of chicken, YUK YUK YUK.....the beans had too much salt and this gross glob of melted cheese on top, the rice was cold. There was no pico and again the plate with the runny sour cream, half dead piece of lettuce, small amount of guacamole and tasteless grated cheese looked like it was thrown together. When you enter the restaurant, you see this fine photograph of a proud Mexican family, all dressed up, every detail manicured, the Ochoa family, it gives the diner the impression that the Ochoa family is going to care about the food they give you. It is a false impression, Buy better food, change the grease, pay attention to how it is cooked, look at your presentation....here's an idea, go to Dallas, eat at Mariano's and copy them. read more

I have been a patron of ochoas for over 25 years. however, I'm not sure I will be going to the athens location anymore. twice now they have been very rude when ordering on the phone. food has realllyyyy gone downhill. servers are always nice. the front of the house needs a happy camper pill. so rude! overcharged and completely messed up one meal and didn't give us another meal. everyone has off nights but this is a habit now. so disappointed read more

This is my first experience at this chain. Fortunately I got here just before a rush. First thing is the salsa is some of the best I've ever had. They make it fresh every day. Secondly, the waiter was very playful and understanding to my special requests. He was on top of making sure I was happy. The flour tortillas are NOT fresh made. They are out of a package, so I decided to go with enchiladas. They came out exactly as I special requested them, and they were perfect. The restaurant seems clean and the atmosphere is nice. I enjoyed the fact that they're not playing Spanish or country music, but rather a mix of newer popular easy listening. The overall experience was good. I will definitely be back and would recommend this location. Especially for the wonderful salsa. Plus they have me a free sopapilla with my meal at the end! read more

As an original Texan, I eat Tex Mex on a weekly if not daily basis. This has been the most repulsive experience I've ever had. The supervisor/manager/dictator was the rudest woman while we were eating and then had the audacity to harass us when leaving the restaurant about not leaving a tip. The food was cardboard, the drinks low tier and overly sugary, and the service sub par at best (and that's being kind). I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs. read more

We have lived in Mexico for the last 15 years in Chapala, Jalisco. We love the food at Ochoa's, it is TexMex at it's best. Great chips and salsa and good service, we enjoy the enchilada's as well. Not authentic food from Jalisco is why we eat here when we return to Texas. read more

Love this place but they need to spice up the salsa. It's hit and miss. Seems as if there may be a couple of different cooks. One that loves spice and one that doesn't. Now come on. Were in Texas and we love our Tex-Mex and that requires spice. So either pony up some spicy salsa or make two options. Also keep in mind you have travelers from Dallas that enjoy a nice white wine and may I recommend Kim Crawford, Nobello, Cup Cake or any reasonably priced New Zealand wines. We had the worst experience ever and the food was horrible. We did not know they closed at 8 on a Wednesday. We arrived at 7:15, food was not good, queso tasted old, chicken enchiladas was overpowered by the CHILIE they soak the tortillas in. To top it off at 8:15 this rude hateful worker (not our waitress)started cussing next to us slamming chairs and dIshes around glaring at us saying we needed to leave and she was too d@mn old to be their that late then another waitress chimed in. I looked to see what time it was and it was 8:15. Nobody had the class or professionalism to at least come over and say ladies I'm sorry but we need to close out our register. We got up went to pay and asked what time the closed and was told 8. Who allows theIr staff to act like that and still have a job?????
