Went to late lunch on Thursday with three other women. The server definitely had a bad attitude. She was on the phone, apparently personal, and ignored for 5 to 10 minutes. When she finally waited on us she made it obvious that she was disinterested and did not want to serve us. I suspected it was because we were women and she thought maybe we were not going to tip well. Then she waited on some men and was very friendly to them. Whatever th r case there was no excuse for the way were treated. We still left a good tip. The food was great!! Will return but hope we do not get the server with a "TUDE". read more

The waitress was friendly but after I ate I asked her for the check and she said ok. I waited 15 minutes and still received no check. So I went up to the cashier to pay and I asked a guy in line and he said you just come to the cashier and pay without a check. No staff told me this and this was my first time at this restaurant. The food was ok but not that great. I had chicken quesadillas . Not much chicken on a large tortilla . Around 2 inches from the edge was nothing. I was very disappointed and since this was my first time , it will probably be my last time. There are many other good Mexican restaurants in Athens. Ps. The food was good as usual however today we went for breakfast. We were not greeted however we were asked "booth or table?" When we answered she then pointed to where we were to go and that was it. No words spoken. When we received our meal I asked for some jelly for our toast and two jars of jam were placed on our table. Not individual servings but community jars!! Yeah, I don't think so. The food is better than average for sure. It is one of three Mexican food restaurants we frequent in the area. However, they do not bring a ticket/check to your table. Very surprised to find muy autentico Tex Mex food in northeast Texas. We San Antonio snobs don't expect to find anything this good north of Austin, but here it is. Good bar. Great salsas. Lengua, tripas, and seriously good pastor for tacos. A killer queso flameado that they kindly label "choriqueso" for us gringos. And wait for it: HANDMADE corn tortillas! Strong flautas. The quality went down and also, they charged me a late fee for breakfast tacos when it was not even 11 o'clock yet. They didn't tell me I was going to be charged the late fee before hand or I would not have ordered. They also charged me for cheese that I never ordered or got on the actual order. We love this place and go several times a month. Have been breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food, drinks and service are always top notch. Salsa and chips are great and I love their beef fajitas. My only comment would be that they should maybe think about hiring a hostess/cashier. read more
