The only place I trust for good food

I love this place. I tried one of the restaurants around the corner that was also Nicaraguan food and it just did not match up to Restaurante Managua. My husband and kids love this place as well. The food is authentic, delicious, the queso Frito is bomb. The portions are great for your money's worth. I love that they also carry Milca and Rojito. The prices are great here too. I've tried one in LA and Ifeel as if they are overpriced. This place is local for me and I crave it every time. Glad I've found a place that I can eat the food I love. There is one restroom for patrons. The place makes you feel as if you are at home. Not fancy, just perfectly welcoming. The nacatamales here are so delicious too. Full of meat. Not like other places. We love ordering the party platters to eat there as well as to go. The food is always fresh and with so much flavor.

My mom's side of the family is Nicaraguan and I've lived in the country myself so we hold our Nicaraguan food to a very high standard. That being said, it's a bit difficult to find good, authentic Nicaraguan food in California. We stumbled upon this place by happenstance and were pleasantly surprised, we decided to give it a try because why not?! So glad we stopped in! Didn't notice the name till we were inside, which was cute; they're called Restaurante Managua. Managua is the capital of Nicaragua and is also where I happened to live when I was there, we have plenty of family in Managua so aside from the menu full of deliciousness it brought back so many wonderful memories! My mom got a nacatamal (Nicaraguan style tamal wrapped in a plantain leaf) and a cacao and we were pleased to see it come out piping hot with a bolillo. I got the #4 a breakfast option with gallo pinto, plenty of platano frito, crema, 2 pieces of queso frito. The nacatamal was great and the platanos and queso frito tasted just like the ones I'd get by my tia's house in my beautiful Nicaragua. I got pitaya to drink which is my favorite beverage from Nicaragua and I was so pleased with their rendition of it. They also have a curtido that was amazing! Had to get a little side to go with my leftovers. The decor reminds me so much of my grandma's house and makes me miss my relatives so it was a really nice setting for us. The music they play is great also, a lot of the music was what my aunts and grandma would often play (a lot of bachata). The staff was kind and inviting so I'm sure we will be back to try more of the menu!

So far so good can't wait for the food to rate this place. More room then the place around the corner feels a bit roomy. Parking is a bit hard but it's because of all the businesses in the area. And just so ya know this how you do it check my pics.

I stumbled upon this place a day I was going to the other Nicaraguan restaurant around the corner. They had recently opened so they didn't even have a sign up or city permits. Since then boss lady and I are fans of this place. It's run by a funny man and it's like a one man show. He has cooked, served us and charged us every time we're here. I don't understand how he does it all to be honest with you. He says there's more people helping him during the weekends though. He has never messed up our orders and gives great customer service. Food is really good. It has this homemade taste I love in my Nicaraguan food! I've only tried certain stuffs on the menu but nothing has dissapointed me. My favorite is the carne asada estilo mercado. Which is tajadas, carne asada with queso frito and salad (charbroiled beef with plaintain chips, fried cheese and cabbage salad). Cacao is pretty good here too. I also like the beef soup. Very filling and perfectly shareable between two people. Boss lady loves the nacatamales. She is hard to please with her Nicaraguan tamales but she raves about this ones. She always take some home. I like that the owner tries to make dishes' presentation as they do back in the homeland. He also sells goodies, beers, etc. I really like this place and recommend it to everyone to give it a try. Street parking only.

This is a great little spot. I am %110 and I must say this is legit. I will be returning with more stomachs to fill.

Take-Out: Parillada for 2 And Encebollado de Pollo + 2 sides: Cole Slaw Salad + Special Mild Sauce

Very Friendly service. Owner is very attentive to all. He also prepares some especially yummy drinks. As for the food. Big, well-served plates. Tasty. Prices are very reasonable. Ambience: Family-friendly. Definitely a place to converse at ease over a meal. This is our 2nd time visiting; & certainly not the last! This time though, we phone ordered take-out. They had all ready by the time we drove ou there (~10-15 mts to prepare our order, which I have detailed further below this review). Street parking only. It hasn't been a problem for us to find parking though. Food: We ordered Parillada for 2 people, according to the menu (more like 3-4 people). -sausage -pork -beef -chicken -yucca -maduro (fried banana plantains) -chicharon (fried pork) -squares of fried cheese (looks like tofu) - fried plantain chips + 2 sides: cole slaw ( The Nicaraguan version of Coleslaw,Ensalada de Repolla, is bright and flavorful with a lime and cilantro vinaigrette). & a special spicy (not too spicy/mild) sauce Encebollado de Pollo: Sauteed Grilled Chicken breast w/ slices of onion and a side of "Gallo Pinto" (Nicaraguan rice--rice with some special beans)

En ingles- (yo no puede escribir en Espanol bien) , entonces, ingles!…read more The food here is awesome! Our family is half Nicaraguan and half German-Spanish. We grew up eating grandma's Nicaraguan dinners and this is as close as you'll find to five star fabulously prepared Nicaragua meals. I ordered my favorite, which is Lengua con tomates y gallo Pinto. It's sooo good. My mom ordered pescado, my gringa wife ordered pollo y carne, and my brother ordered steak con maduros, Fritos y papas.... They even have cacao y pinol. All sandy n grainy like grandma made. We have been to the few other Nicaraguan restaurants around. One over by Loyola high school off Olympic, funky location, difficult to get into. The Gallo Pinto in Azusa, which is an easier location to get into with a mix of Nicaraguan and Mexican food. And now we have found this location. And after enjoying all three, I will tell you that this food wise and service wise is the most authentic and flavorful choice. It is five star of Nicaragua food preparation. The only drawback is it's location, nothing you could do about that. My mom's in a wheelchair makes it a little bit challenging to get in because it's not ADA friendly. So plan ahead, use the bathroom before you get there. And be ready for one of the best Nicaragua dinners in the greater Los Angeles area.

Now when you pull up originally you might think, "am I in the right place" but once you park and get into the courtyard, it is LOVELY! Amazing ambience! There is a bocce set up, string lights. It is a little slice of oasis in the middle of the fashion district. The restaurant itself - beautiful. I couldn't ask for more. Absolutely perfect in my book. Beautiful plants hanging, perfect Spanish music in the background (any place playing Natalia LaFourcade is a win). The drinks were great! I had the jungle bird which was fun. Food was so good too. The whipped beans are the star! We had the guacamole which was tasty, great tostadas with it. The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. The empanadas were great and as someone who lived in South America and ate empanadas every day, these really took me back to my Paraguay days. The squash blossoms were light and perfectly fried. Unfortunately my friends had gone to Funke the night before so they were comparing the squash blossoms and Funke won out, but they still liked Dama's! Small plates were enough for the 3 of us. The service was quick and attentive. Parking was easy for us. I will definitely be back!

The staff are lovely humans who really seem to care about their customers. We have some faves on the menu. The bean dip is fabulous and I'm addicted to the baby gem salad. They have recently amped up the filling in the delicious crispy squash blossoms and I love the acidity and heat. The fish is also a hit in my books. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. Whilst I loved the pickled veg on the side, the beef was underseasoned. It wasn't bad - just not up to the standard of other dishes. The vibe in the place is welcoming and the restaurant is nicely appointed. We will continue to be regulars and it's really worth trying if you haven't been yet.

I still had a little room and was praying that this, the third place where I'd grabbed something to eat would finally show a little skill. They nailed it. The pupusas were piping hot and generously sized. The revuelta was good but surprisingly the queso y loroco was even better. I don't know what it was, but there was something about that gooey, salty cheesiness that I was really digging. And naturally the curtido left me wishing I'd gotten another pound or two of the stuff. Salvadoran coleslaw is so, so, so much better than American coleslaw. Oh, and I got to do my magic trick. I spoke to the guy in Spanish and he stood there dumbfounded. He paused, looking at me, scrunched up his eye and asked me if I was Hispanic. Did I have Hispanic fiends? How could I possibly speak Spanish so well. My Spanish is mediocre on a good day. The fact that he'd NEVER met a Whitie whose Spanish was as good as mine is honestly a bit pathetic but it was hilarious to watch the mental gymnastics as the guy tried to figure out how a White dude could possibly speak a little of his language. I got a little laugh and some VERY good food. That's just about perfect!
