Unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing. I ordered nacatamales to go and was given one that was not fully cooked. My mom ate some of it and didn't realize it until after she had eaten some of the masa and noticed that the rice and pork inside were still undercooked. She later became ill. Undercooked pork can pose a serious health risk, so this was especially concerning. To make matters worse, my mom used the restroom and noticed toilet paper in the trash that had fecal matter on it. It was extremely unhygienic and honestly disgusting. The only positive thing I can say about this visit was that the customer service was good. Unfortunately, the food safety and cleanliness issues overshadowed that, and I would not feel comfortable returning.

However, my biggest disappointment was the chicharrón ( nothing but inflated air ) It tasted store-bought instead of fresh and authentic, which was surprising for a restaurant representing Nicaraguan cuisine. That was honestly the only major issue with our visit. It did not work, and looks like it last worked during the Nixon administration. I got the cerdo asado, probably 6-7 ounces, with rice, beans, ensalada and fried cheese. All very good. The churrasco was also very good. The jalapena was very flavorful, as they left the seeds in the jalapenos; not very nicaraguan, but very good. The service was somewhat inept, even in Spanish, but quite friendly. The interior is barely nicaraguan, with a few plaques and carvings, but clean and brightly covered. The food seems fresh cooked and none of it was doused in oil, as often happens. We'll try it again, see if going out of the way is worth it. It is splot in the middle of 4 freeways.
