In the middle of service, a piano player begun playing and so the vibe was pretty moody/lively. Our table wasn't quite ready for us but it was worth the wait! As a table, we shared a large beet salad that literally felt like it could cure cancer and mixed pierogis. They were a mix of meat, potato, cheese and mushroom (my favorite!!!). The dough was SO soft yet somehow they held their own. For my main, I ordered the Migos, which was a fairly healthy option consisting of savory cooked cabbage, sausage, meat and mushrooms. My dad had the Debutant and so got a variety that I was able to try including the crispy potato pancakes and a large croquette of sorts. My stepfamily put away a few glasses of Szarlotka, which I'd never heard of before but had a wonderfully sugared rim. I imagine if I knew what these were in college I would have been in trouble. I stuck with a mimosa like drink with Polish compote juice (so good!) and then after brunch we took Belvedere shots (a little disappointing they didn't offer options of other Eastern European vodkas). Oh, and the best part? The Nalesnik which were rich but not overly sweet crepes. Sooooooo good.

One of my favorite restaurants is "Stash Cafe" named after the original owner Stanislav Proszyaski. You might have guessed it's a Polish restaurant. The Stash Cafe serves hearty and authentic Polish comfort food like cabbage rolls (Golaki), potato pancakes (Placki), and Kielbasa. The Stash Cafe is a stone building with an intimate rustic interior. Red shaded lambs and sturdy wooden tables complete the decor. I was dining with a friend on this last visit. She ordered Golaki ($23), two cabbage rolls filled with pork & rice, potatoes and a choice of salads. I ordered a Kielbasa ($26) plate which consisted of 2 Polish sausages from a local provider, salad, a biscuit and a grainy dijon mustard. We shared 4 potato pancakes Placki ($12)) served with sour cream or apple sauce. We both enjoyed our meal and I took the bill. Old school, I guess. Dessert offerings included poppy seed cake or strudel.

SCORE!! Jellyfish had incredibly flavorful food and service top notch!! We started with the tuna crudo which was UH-May-Zing! The combination of textures and flavors was superb and the tuna wonderfully fresh! Chilmole tempura was MAGNIFIQUE!!! Honestly, I'd come here and just get 2 servings for my entire meal and be happy, haha. We also split the fried polenta. That was heartier than expected for polenta - almost like fried mashed potatoes - but still very delicious with the meat stock as a flavorful "thick" broth. I had the hanger steak with French fries (felt kinda steak frite-ish tonight) and my friend had the rotelle with bone marrow. The hanger steak was cooked to perfection and fries just the right crispness for my liking. My friends rotelle was just OK (hence the 4 stars) and the big bone with fatty marrow scooped out at the table was just - unexpected and weird. Just wasn't appetizing after that Perhaps it's more of the norm with French Quebec culture and cuisine and our American expectations jaded the experience. But hey! We tried it Overall, I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to tourists and if I were staying longer, I'd definitely come back.
