This is my third time coming over the last five years. My first experience was horrible. No help no relief. My second experience was good. There was a female therapist and Ken and they were both very attentive and I did feel better after a surgery, she worked on me every time. The third visit, horrible once Ken left due to medical reasons I was completely ignored. I kept telling the therapist 50- 60Ish man messy blonde hair I had to beg him to work on my ankle. He kept telling me it's not swollen. It's fine. Keep working through it. Well I went to another therapist and then orthopedic and I have a tear in the tendon. I now have to have surgery probably wouldn't have had to have if he hadn't pushed me he doesn't know what he's doing. If he likes you great apparently he didn't like me. Mostly he's on the phone with personal business his son's football moving his mom. Literally walks in the door on the phone personal business gets on the computer still personal business. I don't care or wanna hear about your son's issues at school or football. I don't wanna hear all your personal stuff on the phone. He was so rude to me and indifferent. I finally stopped because it was a waste of my insurance money. I went to another therapist and I don't push if it hurts. The other guy was like oh no it's just scar tissue your ankle is fine ! When I saw an actual doctor orthopedic surgeon, my ankles are very weak and now I have to have a big surgery I've been angry since I left the assistants are very nice not knowledgeable the old man with a scraggly blonde hair the worst I've never been treated with such indifference read more

Housed in the step down first floor of a very dirty building ,this is an unimpressive facility. Some therapists are good, some stand around talking about their weekend and personal business. Not impressed with the professionalism or the dingy/dirty site. read more

They have been great! John is very knowledgeable. John identified the issue and a treatment plan within a very short time on my first visit, and it has worked. Before my first visit to Restor, I had an Orthopedic Surgeon recommend a pretty radical surgery to fix my ankle issue, which would have included about a 6+ months recovery, but I visited Restor first for an evaluation, and am so glad I did. I have seen so much improvement in my ankle in the past several weeks. I have no more pain, am able to walk normally, and the best thing...NO surgery. Cramped facilities with many patients. The doctor himself can be flakey, prefers to promote "healing creams online" versus coming in to work with his patients and cancels often leaving his staff scrambling to pick up the pieces and cover him. Very unprofessional. read more

If you have multiple disabilities like I do and your looking for the typical one on one care, don't go here. However, if your recovering from a sports injury or maybe you like sports and your recovering from surgery or an injury then YES, definitely go here. It's kinda like an assembly line, perfect if you just want to go through the motions yourself, get it over with and move on with you life. Sports news plays continuously on 2 tv's mounted on either wall, so don't expect too much eye contact. Staff will actually look over your head at the tv!. LMAO The girl in the front office was sweet, but that's just not enough for me. I really need the one on one care, I need time with a therapist and they just don't have it. I went here after a cervical fusion, already had my range of motion back, I needed help with tight muscles. It took me 20 mins to get there and I sat around for another 25 to recieve maybe 10 mins of soft tissue work. This was my 16th surgery due to a genetic condition and after all the driving and sitting on uncomfortable seats waiting for someone to get to me I ended up throwing my back out. I would never recommend anyone to come to this place. One PT for four people. I had to ask for the exercises for home. I was told this is a small place and we usually don't give it. A lady next to me with a shoulder injury had been here for literally months and was not getting much relief. She said she was never given any at home exercises. I've been recovering from a tier two ankle sprain for months and it's gotten so much better in the short amount of time I've started working with Restor. I initially met Kayla (front desk) and she's been great in scheduling me-- I notice she's very caring and detailed in her follow ups and is very friendly which is a great bonus--then I got to working with Bri and Steven. Bri has taken care of me some days and she's been awesome. She really keeps you on track and is always pleasant to work with! I notice how her regular clients love and interact with her and it's endearing. Steven has been absolutely wonderful as well and I've attended more sessions with him. I can't speak highly enough of him! In our visits, he's demonstrated great and thoughtful communication, and boy, he really knows his stuff. He has been motivating and fun and he often checks in during each session to make sure you're being effective. Biggest wins of the week: getting to do some of the activities I used to without thinking and less pain, successfully wearing heels to work, and moving towards a better state of balance and awareness in my body overall when I'm at the gym or doing exercise. There are three different locations: Fountain Valley, Newport Beach, and Lake Forest. I live in the boarder of Costa Mesa and Newport Beach and somehow my Orthopedic sent me to the Fountain Valley location (they only had availability only after 3+weeks). Thankfully after looking up Restor PT (without the address), I found the Newport location and got an appointment here within the week...just 2 days later.!! Yay! Jules from Restor PT from Newport, the receptionist, was kind when I called today and attended to me right away. Thank you as well Jules for your assistance. I came in right away today, same day I called, just to fill out paperwork (even thought I could do it in two days) because I was excited and want to go back to my physical wellness. The environment at Newport is professional and filled with people who take their body seriously which I love. It is also a gym, so I felt right at home. Can't wait to go back to the gym. This is the worst pt place I have ever been to. The first visit was a typical first time evaluation but for visits after that, I would walk in and have to find which table had my list of exercises on it and then start them. The therapist never came and worked with me for the first 15 minutes or checked to see how I was progressing, like most therapy places. She was always in the back chatting with others or working on her computer. The aids were busy talking amongst themselves and every once in a while they would watch me to see if I was doing the exercises correctly. A couple of times they did not even appear to be familiar with my program. read more

If you want to work alone, without any help from the employees, this is the place for you. Once you are there you are left completely on your own to do the exercises. Make sure you have your reading glasses because they hand you a clipboard with exercises on it, put you at one of 10 tables (if there is room for you) in an open area and then leave you until you tell them you are done. If you need help, you can wander around until you find someone. The employees seem nice, but are definitely there to socialize with each other more than interact with patients. If your insurance expires, they'll tell you to go home after you arrive and won't contact you when authorization is renewed. I waited two weeks and finally called my insurance company to find out they had approved it the next day. If you leave a message (they don't always answer the phone) you won't get a return call, but they will tell you they heard your message. My insurance covers as many visits as necessary over a given time. As I gained strength, I asked to come in more often. Their response was to email exercises to me and tell me to come in less often. And all the links to the videos showing how to do the exercises don't work. Left three messages and never heard from them again. A tale of two shoulders: I had my right shoulder reconstructed. My friend had more severe surgery on his shoulder 6 weeks after mine. Nine months later, I can't throw a wad of paper into a trash can and have constant pain. My friend is playing tennis. (He did NOT go to Restor.) I'm trying to get approval to start all over again when I should be done and living a full life. I can't believe how vastly different my experience was compared to my friend who got real physical therapy. I just want to add that the space is large, but predominantly for people who pay for one-on-one training with trainers who rent space there. I've been to a lot of PTs', they usually work on you for 30 min, then give you paper work. They want you to go home to do the exercises .Here they stay with you for 3 hrs.and explain how to do the exercises . Then Kim or one of the PTs' comes over and repairs you! I was referred by my medical doctor to this place and I was surprised that is run as indoor gym/physical therapy. I called before to ensure that they were practicing safe measures under COVID before arriving, the receptionist assured that they were. However, this place is an underground gym. The place is pact of body builders and the employees aren't wearing masks. I asked the front receptionist why the employees and body builders aren't wearing their masks, her comment is that they are NOT required to wear them. I was told in order to get to my physical therapy appointment I had walk in the middle of these guys not wearing masks. Where is the safety??? My gym has been closed so how can this place run an underground gym and act like we are not under COVID restrictions. AVOID this place!!!! I will be contacting my medical plan and asking for another physical therapy location that does care about it's patients. read more

I just finished three and a half months of PT at Restor in Newport Beach. Without the help I received from their professional staff I would not have recovered so quickly from my surgery. Of all the PT places I've gone to over the years, this is by far the best! My therapists, Matt, Aimee, Kim, Dre (Andre), Crystal and Jenn all gave me their best and were very caring. They listened to me when I had issues and adjusted my program to suit the progress I was making. After my shoulder surgery my surgeon said that PT would take 4 to 6 months but I was done after 3 1/2 months. The facility is clean and convenient and the atmosphere was always positive, thanks to the good nature of the entire staff. Matt was especially focused and extremely well qualified. I train here with Mike and he is amazing! I get such a good workout every time with him. He includes nutritional consultations with his training and even texts me and reminds me to do cardio on our off days. The whole facility is very high end and exclusive. They have chiropractors, physical therapists and a naturopathic doctor on site. Parking is validated. Definitely the best training facility I've been to! read more

Restor Physical Therapy - Physical Therapy Near Me - Newport Beach, California

so after 6 weeks of purely stretches and exercises with no improvement with the first therapist Kim I decide to ask if there's another one that can do other things which I was told Josh does manual therapy. The first time I saw him he did some muscle release work on my calf and a little bit of my foot. the second time he did some more muscle release on my foot and then I got up and started walking without pain and I told him that and I asked him to look at my walk but he did not and instead gave me exercises. I do the exercises the same as the previous six weeks and I was not feeling so good immediately after that. So the third day I go into him and tell him that I think the muscle release and some rest is helping but not the exercises and he insists that he will no longer do any muscle release and that I have to do exercises because otherwise that's not physical therapy. also I asked him to show me what our goal is of how I should be walking properly he refused to do that and he basically just barks really loudly at you he talks over you at the same time as you're trying to explain things to him or ask a question, obviously doesn't explain or answer a simple question, he does not celebrate any victories, and he just acts like a know-it-all. He just argues without explanation and has obviously never had this problem himself. Then he had the nerve to try to end the conversation saying he has other patients he has to get to well guess what it's my appointment and my hour he's supposed to be working with me and at least answer basic questions. So at this point I still don't know how I'm supposed to be walking correctly or what I'm doing wrong, he mentioned something about referring me to somebody else but never did, and he just went and complain to his supervisor about the situation who is the same person who only had me doing exercises for 6 weeks with zero results. She also did not recommend a referral anywhere today not before. She/Kim had the nerve to take his side, asked me nothing, claimed he knows what's medically necessary...really?! When Josh says it's not inflammation and i have antiinflammatories from the foot doctor and cortisol shots help and he himself suggested I might need them along with pt?! Hellooooooo cortisol shots are antiinflammatories and no thanks for asking my side of the story Kim! They need some serious reevaluation on common courtesy.. so I'm basically looking for someone who is willing to do manual therapy and I would guess that if you're feeling better that would be the goal but Josh and Kim don't seem to think so. I tried very hard to restate and explain I was feeling better after the foot released and he just kept saying that without exercises it's not physical therapy. Unfortunately most places will have other things that can be done. And I refuse to do exercises that increase pain... common sense. He certainly didn't have any other explanation as to why he is completely changing the plan. we already established that the strength in my foot is fine but the flexibility is not which obviously needs to be released. plus I have 2 other things on the MRI he just ignored. Plus I mentioned I have alot of ankle pain and swelling and he just rolled his eyes at me. Very very rude really. I recently had a back fusion and my surgeon recommended physical therapy for me. I chose Restor based on the positive Yelp reviews. My first session was awesome. My physical therapist Rob was super knowledgeable and spent an hour and a half with me. He was very hands on and answered all of my questions. My second visit went well and he oversaw my exercises. I specifically scheduled with Rob because I wanted to build a relationship with one PT who understood my condition (I have had 3 back surgeries in 3 years). My third visit was fine, but I was with another PT who told me what exercises to do, but was immersed in paperwork as I did them. My fourth visit was the last time I went. I had laid off from doing my exercises at home because I had a horrible episode of back pain that sent me to the emergency room at Hoag hospital. I could barely stand and walk without severe pain. I had 3 injections of dilauded and 3 of soma, but to no avail. I was very nervous about doing any type of PT exercises, and was anxious to have Rob evaluate me at my next appointment. When I arrived, the place was more crowded than usual. I know these physical therapy companies double book patients, but I had spoken with Rob on the phone about my recent back issue and was hoping he would talk to me about it. I laid down on one of the tables and made eye contact with Rob who was working on another patient. He said to start stretching. I did and a girl approached me and said I was doing the wrong exercises. She handed me my exercise sheet. I had no idea what to do because I did not understand the abbreviations they had written down. Someone had always told me what to do and modeled it for me if I did not understand. She told me what t do and I did the first two exercises, but then stopped. I told her it hurt to do them. I laid there for about 10 more minutes waiting for Rob, but he never came over. I gathered my things and left. I told the receptionist to cancel my appointment and why I was leaving. She was unconcerned and just sat there eating her breakfast. I went home and scheduled an appointment with another PT company. No one from Restor called to find out why I left. They could care less. You are just an insurance payment to them. When I called Restor later that day to cancel the rest of my December appointments, the receptionist said "What should I tell Rob?". I told her why I was unsatisfied and she explained to me that "that's what physical therapy is; we show you how to do the exercises for 10 minutes and then you are on your own." Well, I disagree with that, but if that is how they operate, then it must work for them. My advice to anyone thinking about going to Restor is to have Rob do your initial evaluation, then go for 2x's a week for 2 weeks at off-peak times. Then just continue at home. Unless you are fine with them setting you up on a table and then completely ignoring you while they chit-chat, do paperwork, or try to balance their over-bookings. read more
