    Farmer's market.

Place is a local farm stand. All the produce is locally grown. Selection varies from week to week depending on what's ready. Place is a hidden gem. Locally grown produce on a independently owned farm, on Long Island is very cool. Today's score was fresh tomitillos and some black plum preserves. Simply outstanding.

Joined this CSA (community supported agriculture) since I stopped by a farm stand 8 years ago. I fell in love with the whole concept of knowing where my fruits and vegetables come from and getting to know the farmers. Caroline, Dan and the entire staff are AMAZING! The produce is beyond compare, I can't even begin to describe the difference between store bought and farm fresh. If you have young children, what better than to watch the free range chickens and the rooster. When you step through the gates of the farm, you completely forget the traffic and stress of suburban life. If there are any open shares I suggest you grab one!

The farm stand is great! But the limited hours kind of stink. They're only open wed 4-6 and Sunday 10-12.

We had a wonderfully impromptu weekend sojourn to Fable Farm this past Saturday to pick up some local cider and donuts. Little did we know that Fable is also home to a slew of chickens and goats who are packed with personality and pluck, and totally made our day with their sweet and adorable antics! We had a great time watching the animals hang out and peck around their spacious pen enclosure, safe from the masked onlookers who came to gawk at the majesty of farmland critters. Honestly, any interactions with cute barnyard characters is a high point to my day, so Fable gets five stars on that alone! We also loved the local farmer's market that sets up here, and even though it was close to closing for the day, we were able to browse around for a bit. I didn't buy anything, but the produce looked fresh and there were lots of other locally made goods like honey and soaps. We'll be back for sure next time when we have more time to look around at all the offerings! The local cider and scrumptious donuts were our initial mission, and they did not disappoint. The cider was juicy and tangy, and I couldn't stop drinking it for the rest of the evening once we got home. I was able to limit myself to one cider donut (brushed with cinnamon sugar - yum!), but that was so difficult! My boyfriend's mom was delighted with the cider donuts we brought home for her, too. I highly recommend checking out Fable Farm for a low-key autumn afternoon activity!

I'm a…read morewhole-foods, plant based eater so a CSA that has a large share of organic fruits and vegetables for often time 60-70% of the price of a farmer's market is definitely worth it for me. If you don't eat as many vegetables as me, and it's just one person, I'd recommend the small share or you'll have a very full fridge before you're able to use everything. Also, nice little bonus for environmentalists and people who try to limit food waste, any food left over from the pick-up gets donated to the food shelter at the location where distribution is. They also have a composting bin that you can compost things from home or the parts of your produce you maybe don't want... *ahem* radish leaves *ahem*. Anyway, it's a good CSA!

It's from Hepworth Farms in NY, which is organic. For whatever reason, the tomatoes were almost always rotten, and other produce went bad much faster than what their counterparts at Whole Foods. In fact, I saw tomatoes on sale at Whole Foods from the same exact farm, and they looked much better. Does Hepworth give the CSA the bottom of the barrel? The shares had very little variation. I frequently found myself at the supermarket buying different vegetables. Also, half shares were not truly half shares - almost every week the full share got veggies not included in the half share. Very frustrating. I cannot stress this enough, there were so many obnoxious emails! In addition to the always-late weekly update, expect non-stop emails harassing you to volunteer. If more volunteers are needed, they should require more than the 2 or 3 days stated, instead of pathetically begging everyone all the time.

Of all the sites we visited, this was the stand out. The fruits and vegetables are incredible... literally picture-perfect and bursting with flavor. In addition, the stand has lots of homemade products like mango salsa, horseradish mustard, and the like. These specialty items are delicious! Oh, and don't forget to pick up some of their homemade preserves. My husband and I practically overdosed on peach preserves! There is a beautiful outdoor area where kids can play, which also makes the stand a nice destination for families. Last but not least, the staff that works here is so friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed chatting with them.

One side of the farm overlooks the other side of the farm and the other side of the farmi overlooks this beautiful backdrop of nature on the farm. Hindubger Farms puts on live shows, and you can go shopping. There is also a playground for the kids to play. The playground is fenced in with a picnic area so parents can enjoy their food without worrying about their children's safety.
