Having used cryotherapy in the past with positive results, I figured I'd find somewhere local while I was in San Antonio. Their location is situation at a small strip mall with lot parking and is easy to find. I walked in and was and greeted by a young male employee who was cheerful and explained the services and prices. I told him I wanted a cryo session and he escorted me to a room where I changed before preparing to enter the chamber. The chamber used here is not fully enclosed, it terminates at the neck area so your head is not exposed to the cold. It is powered by liquid nitrogen, the tanks of which are visible in the room. After entering the chamber, the cold air began flowing in and I withstood the onslaught of cold for two minutes. Wow! How invigorating it was upon exiting, I felt recharged and rejuvenated! The cost of one session was $35.00, which is quite reasonable in my opinion given the health benefits associated with this alternative therapy. They had to use a pressure bag to force the drip to get into my system faster which raised my anxiety since I no longer felt relaxed. Started Physical Therapy with Dr. Leanna Garza last week. I had an initial exam with lots of Q&A so…read morethat Dr. Garza can properly assess my issue and the treatment plan going forward. She was very patient, gentle, listened carefully, polite, understanding and had a great bedside manner. I felt like I wasn't just a number and never felt rushed. After the Q&A, we did some mobility assessments and went out to the floor where Dr. Garza showed some exercises to do daily. The following visit, I tried Dry-Needling which is similar to acupuncture but the needles are placed only momentarily in the trigger points vs. left on the skin for a few minutes. Sometimes it would sting in the initial prick but it was bearable and brief. I've had acupuncture before so I'm not averse to it. The dry needling is supposed to treat the pain and allow for a better range of motion. After the dry needling, I was out on the floor to do more brief exercises and stretches. The exercise area is pretty big and there are a few PTs and Medical Assistants there to help you. I really appreciated that Dr. Garza was the one assisting me on the floor vs. just the exam and out on the floor with just Med Techs/Assistants showing me exercises. The MAs were personable & friendly. They were the ones taking my blood pressure as soon as I was led to the floor after check-in. It's been a few days since the dry-needling and the pain has subsided so we'll see if I'll need a few more treatments in the coming weeks? Lively music is piped in and I noticed in my first visit, there was a lot of Spanish language pop music playing. Check-in clerks were friendly and in a good mood. Overall, it's a positive atmosphere. The place seems busy but efficient. There's plenty of parking in this small business park.
