Well, there is quite a bit for me to see in this cemetery - - final resting place for a lot of family members. MEMORY LANE When I was a kid, coming to the cemetery was a bit of an event. It was something we did through the warmer months on Sunday afternoons. Back then, people really cared for the graves. They were allowed to plant flowers the length of the grave. Sometimes my brothers and I would help my grandparents, aunt and uncle caring for the graves. We would pull weeds or go to a pump to get water for the flowers. Sometimes we would get bored and go to a nearby section where there was a "hill" and we would play and roll down the hill. Before we left for the long ride home, we would stop at the office building to use the restrooms. The inside of the building was different then. As I remember, the staircase leading down to the basement to the restrooms was in the middle of the building. I always found those restrooms fascinating - - they were very large with many stalls and even in the 1950-60's they were already old-looking (in an interesting way) and had a certain style and charm about them. At some point, things changed and you couldn't plant flowers over the graves. You now had to follow new rules for decorating the graves. Times changed and people found new ways to entertain themselves on Sundays. They didn't need all those stalls in the restrooms, so those basement restrooms were closed off and new, smaller restrooms were built on the main floor. AND NOW As mentioned in other reviews, they are pretty strick about the grave decoration rules. We stopped in the office to check for a grave on the self serve kiosk and it was not working. There was a wait for help at the desk, so we left. Hours change with the seasons, so check the hours. Although the office hours are shorter than cemetery hours, the building is usually open with access to the restrooms. When using main entrance on Archer Road, the mausoleum is to the left. The office building is to the right. The interment Chapel is a few sections east of the office building. The Chapel is a good option to a gravesite burial during inclement weather. There is another entrance to the cemetery on Robert's Road (the east side of the cemetery). GHOST STORY "Resurrection Mary" is the famous ghost associated with this cemetery.

    A building in the cemetery.

Don't judge a cemetery, ever. This place is beautiful and easy to walk to. I have many relatives buried in this cemetery. Yes, there are woods nearby here. You can look in the back section for deer that walk by. It's pretty cool to see them! This is also easy to drive if you know where the relatives are. It can be confusing if your relative is in the grass. The buildings are usually easy for me to look at them. Also, if your relative is buried in the grass, please make sure you bring a shovel when there is snow on the ground! It can be hard to find your relatives with snow on the ground! All in all, beautiful cemetery! I will be here to pray for my relatives! Amen!

Resurrection Cemetery is a lovely final resting place to many famous people from ball players to political figures. Look up particular graves online and take a tour if you're inclined. My favorite thing about this cemetery was the incredible artistry in the headstones. Beautiful catholic iconography and wonderful photos of Polish families makes for hours of wandering with camera in hand.

Losing someone you love is never easy, but the way they guided us through every step brought comfort when we needed it most. From the very first conversation, Bogdan Gal treated us not just as clients, but as family. His kindness, patience, and genuine empathy meant more than words can express. He handled every detail of the arrangements for Joanna Bednarz's funeral with the utmost dignity and respect. The service was truly beautiful -- thoughtful, elegant, and perfectly reflective of Joanna's life and spirit. Bogdan's steady guidance helped us feel supported and reassured through every decision. We are also deeply thankful to Renia, whose warmth and understanding comforted us from the moment we walked through the doors. She was incredibly organized, responsive, and gentle in every interaction, making a painful process feel a little less overwhelming. A heartfelt thank you as well to Donna and the entire staff. Every single person we encountered showed compassion, professionalism, and sincere care. Their attention to detail and quiet support during the service did not go unnoticed. They created an atmosphere of peace and respect that allowed our family to grieve, remember, and honor Joanna in the most meaningful way. In a time filled with sorrow, Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium provided light, comfort, and dignity. We will never forget the beautiful service they created for Joanna or the compassion they showed our family. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us say goodbye with love and grace. May God Bless you all, Bednarz Family

The place is a two story funeral home and is very homey. When you walk in you just get a very peaceful warm feeling. The first floor is for viewing and the viewing room itself is very large and comfortable. They have a little area right off the front door for coffee and cookies and also a coat room. The second floor looks more like a house...you would never know you are actually in a funeral home. There is a living room with a fireplace, a seating area that leads to a full kitchen with a table. There's also a room for the small ones to go and hang out set up with toys, books and games. The home was all decked out in holiday ornaments and even a tree and was just very peaceful. It really gave you a sense of calm. It was definitely a sad day but the surroundings somehow helped with the stress of it all.

Also conveniently located next to a floral shop that specializes in funeral services floral. There are two rooms so it could be that two events are happening at the same time which feels a little cramped since there is only one entrance and the neighboring area is on the more congested side (but expected in the city). This spot is no frills spot, not necessarily updated, but the upkeep has been fine. The casket cars are well kept. Staff was very friendly and professional. They were able to bring in additional seating and have the funeral stickers for our cars ready for our family when heading to the cemetery. They were also able to assist police to direct traffic as well during the funeral procession. Overall a positive experience, but an emotional celebration of life.

Buried here are my own father and both paternal grandparents as well as numerous in-law relatives.   So coming here for an annual remembrance visit or another burial is just a natural part of life for us and always has been.    My limited dealings with staff here has been fine.  The Chinese section has a small pagoda-like altar that you won't find in any other cemetery.  The grounds are kept clean.  There's nothing you can do if there's been a recent big rain, as the grounds will be soaked and there will be muddy puddles here and there.  It's not an ornate or picturesque cemetery by any means and it's located in the blue collar town of Stickney (not a knock but just saying).  It's also right under nearby Midway's flight paths, so low flying planes during any visit should not surprise you.  Much like Wrigley Field, no matter the apparent weather everywhere else, it's always colder and windy here and feels 10-15F colder for some reason.  It's just the nature of a visit here.   Overall though, they have done the job for us over the years.  Thank you.
