Following a recent ophthalmology appointment for a routine eye exam I was referred to this office for further treatment. I was scheduled quickly and received such amazing treatment from reception to testing & clinical personnel and both physicians I interacted with as well (Dr. Shah & Dr. Grasic). . Originally I received screening for research involvement but did not qualify and instead received immediate treatment with Dr Grasic. The research team were all extremely attentive, helpful, and friendly! Dr Shah (and all clinical staff) in the research department helped put my mind at ease and described my potential treatment clearly, answering all my questions. Even upon explaining to me that I did not qualify, the staff immediately got me over to clinical side for my treatment! Dr. Grasic then began treatment and I was done with an injection in minutes. I feel confident I'm receiving excellent care with regard to my diagnosis and I highly recommend this clinic and this physician. I was so distraught during exam simple instructions were not capable of being processed and followed due to my ptsd Being triggered it made the entire experience unbearable and caused me to be short tempered due to internal processes that occure once my disability is triggered. read more

I was referred by my ophthalmologist to Retina Vitreous Center when I was diagnosed with age related macular degeneration. Dr. David Grasic was my doctor. He said that I have wet macular degeneration in my left eye and dry macular degeneration in my right eye. He gave me an injection in my left eye and I came back for another injection 2 months later. The second time I had lots of pain, swelling, and flooding tears which I told him about as well as circles of bright flashing light which he didn't seem concerned about. I told him the second time how painful the injection had been the second time. My eye hurt so bad that I couldn't keep it open for most of 3 days afterward. He just had his assistant put in more numbing drops but the third time was as painful as the second time. He has been very brusque each time and seemed to ignore my concerns. The last time I had my driver/friend come to the examining room with me. He came in and left quickly after I told him about my concerns but without much comment from him. As soon as he was out the door, my friend told me she didn't like him and called him a name I won't repeat. He doesn't seem to have much empathy or a very good bedside manner. He didn't seem to care much about anything other than getting out as quickly as possible. I asked him about an article on the internet about Proton therapy. He actually rolled his eyes and said "Back in the real world.....". I don't intend to go back to that clinic and will probably request a different doctor even if I do. I had been told that flashing white light was a sign of retinal detachment and that it was something to be concerned about, but apparently not by him. I told him that I thought me right eye with the dry macular degeneration seemed to be getting a little worse and he said that's probably due to my diet and sugary drinks which I found particularly offensive. I think he's a jerk, and I'd like to read some reviews from his other patients. Maybe it's just me, but my friend didn't like him at all. read more

I have Wet/age macula degeneration. when it first happened i went to my optometrist first, Dr. Melton recognized it and called Retina Vitreous Center and one other to see who could see me right then. Retina Vitreous Center, Dr. Phelps office made room for me right then. I got my first of many eye injections that day. I went home and apparently had a reaction to the dye they used. I was so bad that Dr. Phelps actually came to my house. They laugh now and say it was his first ever house call. Got my first ever ride in an ambulance that day. How can you ever say anything bad about the the Dr and his office for saving the vision for that eye. 5 stars all the way. Rick read more

There is a huge time management issue with their appointment scheduling. I have taken my mother to more than 6 appointments here and none have been under the 2 hours. I have to take half a day off work for ant appointment here. Dr. Hood is a man of fear words and when he does speak, it is much too fast for an elderly woman who is not clinical. read more

I took my daughter in for a 10:00 appointment and didn't see the doctor until after 11. We both went to the exam room together and when Dr. Hood walked in he never acknowledged that I was even in the room. Furthermore, he didn't even greet my daughter who was the patient. Granted my daughter is 29, however she asked me to come along as she needed a driver. The doctor decided she needed laser treatment for a hole in her retina. They asked her to pay over $600 for the procedure. My daughter politely asked the insurance lady to call again as she was sure it should be less. Low and behold, my daughter only had to pay $160! My daughter teaches school, is very frugal and just wanted to check so she didn't over pay. The office should not have been rude, and arrogant, but instead kind & compassionate. I had an optical emergency one Saturday night. Dr. Shah and his technician (Jessica) gave up their Saturday evening to come see me at their Edmond office to make sure my sight was protected. RVC is the BEST place to be if you need eye care for problems with above average complexity. Dr. Shah is truly an expert in his field, and I strongly suspect one of the best retinal/vitreous surgeons in the United States. He and his staff went out of their way at every juncture to make sure that I was well taken care of and my vision was their top priority at all times. This is truly a highly professional operation and you will never feel like you're just a number. Outstanding! I required surgery to correct my problem. Dr. Shah took my issue very seriously at all times and was always quick, efficient, and kind. Vision is important to everyone at RVC, that is very clear. read more

Dr Phelps was great. I was supposed to see a different doctor but he had to do an emergency surgery. Dr Phelps was seeing lots of people but I felt like he did a great job checking my eyes. He was in a hurry and I understand that, but I did think of some questions I should have asked after he left. My complaint is, my appointment was at 8am and I was not seen until 9 am. How could they be an hour behind when I was his first patient? Had they told me that my doctor had been called away it would have been fine. I even went up to the desk and asked them if there was a problem that it was taking so long. They said no and that I would be seen soon. Just tell me what's going on. I arrived at the Stillwater location at 10:20. Waiting room was packed but patients were checking out at the desk so I assumed there would be a wait but tolerable. I walked out at 1:00 pm without ever seeing the doctor. This was my 4th appointment and each time I was told they were running behind due to emergencies. I think this is just what they say to deflect from their over-booking. I have decided to find a different retina specialist that won't take me for granted. I wasted 4 hours of PTO for nothing. read more

The doctors are good. I've seen Dr. Hood. The problem is scheduling. I've been there 3 or 4 times and the quickest I've got in and out is 1 hour 45 minutes. There is no need to have to sit and wait til way after your scheduled appointment to be seen. This problem needs to be addressed and corrected. read more

No complaints about the skill or ophthalmic care. Their Front Office is entirely another matter though. The Office Manager demanded that I pay BEFORE being seen. I objected to paying for a service before it had been rendered, but was treated very rudely and dismissively. I now have a new eye doctor. read more

Wanting to give some additional feedback relating to what has already been posted...the wait time. Emergencies happen, understandably, but on behalf of a family member who has had very extensive wait times each time she has been there is frustrating to say the least. It's not only affecting your patients but those who have taken time off work to accompany them. With keeping good customer service in mind, please: Do not overbook patients (if that is what is also happening in addition to any emergencies). PLEASE communicate with your patients who are waiting in rooms who have had no explanation as to the "why's" behind their extended wait time. Popping into the room to say "I'm so sorry for the long wait" (give a reason with an idea of how much longer wait time is). "We so appreciate your patience" goes a long way in keeping your patience happy. Needless to say, your patient's time (and caretaker/family's time) is valuable as well. Would like to see the whole process re-evaluated as to how many appts are being booked and what the realistic expected wait time will be for each patient. And if nothing else, please remember that your up-beat, friendly communication to your patients while visiting your center is beneficial for all (kudos to the ones who are already doing this).
