It is advertised as a steak house, and steak houses usually know how to cook their meat. I ordered the angus burger medium, the waiter even asked how I wanted it cooked. The burger arrived and it was a nasty looking gray color, the color of a burger that appeared to be steamed, rather than grilled. It was cooked was very week done. The bread appeared to be a two day old English muffin that was hard as a rock; they didn't even bother heat or grill the bun! Oh, and the bacon, oh the bacon, that was pretty much rare. Maybe they got the bacon and the burger mixed up! I wanted my burger medium and bacon crispy. The waiter never came by once to check to see how my meal was. I tried motioning him over numerous times, be he was clearly not paying attention. I finally got his attention almost 30 minutes later and he made up some crap about how medium is different in Portugal than other countries! Lmao. I worked in professionally kitchens for 15 years and the standards are the same across the board. Very bad service. Just because they are mostly serving tourists shouldn't equate to poor service and crappy food.

We showed up at 6pm when they opened and got one of the few unreserved tables after being scolded for not having a reservation! Our waitress was helpful and friendly and most of the staff spoke English (it is a tourist town). We started with glasses of house wine 3 Euros each and olives and garlic bread. Both were good. I got the grilled sea bass which was very good with lots of veggies. My wife got the grilled squid which she liked a lot. It was so delicious and the wine list gives you many paring options, but being in Portugal even the house wine is amazing. This area albufera is not for the faint of heart. But it was. It works like this: you are presented with a very hot stone slab, and some raw meat of your choice. The meat can also be prepared with various marinations and methods, but the underlying theme is that it's ready to be cooked. Add a dash of the sauce of your choice, a small amount of garlic butter to the slab (and watch in horror as the table is surrounded by acrid smoke) slice off a little meat, and get cooking. I chose the medley selection, consisting of chicken, pork and steak. All of the meat was fantastic - not an ounce of fat or gristle to be seen. The steak was wonderful - the very fact you could control each tender mouthful - one rare, the next well done, and then apply the sauce of your choice. There were 10 of us at the restaurant - and the waiters were open and friendly. For a while we tried to work out if the owner was German, but then, distracted by some fantastic garlic prawns, the topic was dropped. It was very nice to turn the corner into a nice upscale restaurant where you feel you've left the craziness of the mall. The wait staff was friendly and they have a full bar, check out the menu photos and there are a few pages of drinks. There is a small television in the corner if you must see that game while you're eating. Internet is free and has a good signal.
