I think I understand why now. A second HVAC company came out and found a ton of issues. For example, the unit massively overhangs the foundation on the flimsiest supports! Technician Arsen handled the bedroom unit well. He found the drain hose was clogged and mounted too low, cleaned it out, adjusted the mounting height, and confirmed it drained properly over a 2-hour test. The living room unit is where I'm disappointed. A technician from my home warranty company had already confirmed the unit, less than a year old, was completely empty of freon. Arsen couldn't initially find the leak and charged me to vacuum and recharge the system, with no warranty since the source was unconfirmed. During that process, he found the actual leak in a copper line under the house. Once identified, he refused to go into the crawl space to fix it and said no one else at the company could either. That doesn't add up: just months ago, five workers from another company spent a full week under the house for a seismic retrofit, moving freely through the entire crawl space without issue, including the area where this leak is now located. I offered to pay extra for him or anyone else to complete the repair and was still turned down. Instead, he recommended replacing the entire unit for $5,000, which doesn't make sense for a nearly-new system with one identified leak point. I'm now out the cost of a recharge that didn't fix anything and came with no warranty, and I still have to find another company willing to go under the house and finish the repair Arsen already diagnosed. I appreciate the diagnostic work, but a company that installs mini splits should have someone who can access a crawl space to tighten a fitting. Choosing an upsell over a specific, identified fix is why I can't rate this higher. Update: The owner, Alex B., responded to this review quickly and personally came out to fix the leak. He accessed the crawl space without any issue, repaired the fitting in a few minutes, vacuumed and recharged the system, and tested it to confirm stable freon levels and cold air output. It's a straightforward fix, which makes it more frustrating it wasn't handled this way from the start, but I appreciate the owner stepping in directly to make it right. When booking I also go left on read when messaging via Yelp and had to call 2 hours later for them to actually book and send a confirmation. There are no building stairs to the roof, so the technician must bring a ladder and climb about 11 feet indoors. This unusual setup made it difficult for me to find a company willing to handle the access, but Manny's was able to take care of it without any issues. It has been 10 days since the repair, and the air conditioner is running normally again. The repair came with a standard 90 day warranty, but honestly the quality of the work mattered more to me than the warranty. I recommend this company.

Jerry diagnosed that it was a low capacitor and freon leak, and that the fan motor was not broken like others have said. Other companies needed me to purchase additional parts to get it fixed but Jerry was able to get my AC working the same day. My HVAC unit was nearing it's end of life so I was also comparing bids on what made the most sense for my condo. Jerry offered to temporarily 'lend' us a new capacitor and pumped freon into my system at no charge while I made the decision whether I wanted just the fix or to replace my system. If I decided to just go with the fix, I would pay for it of course, but if I went with replacing the system, they would just take back their capacitor and reclaim the freon. This was a hugely appreciated gesture. Their HVAC replacement proposal was also very competitive. I ultimately decided to replace the system. The experience was pleasant from beginning to end. Cecilia is the one who helps schedule at the office, very friendly and responsive. Jerry was the technician who helped us diagnose the issue and coordinate the HVAC team. He was friendly, transparent, and always responded quickly to my texts/questions - great communication. The day of, the workers Juan, Victor and Andrew were very professional. Maintained constant communication the whole time, kept me updated on the process and what they were doing. They wore booties inside, protected the floor with tarp, and were just very careful in general. The installation of the unit itself is very professionally done, and they vacuumed everything and cleaned up afterwards. They even explained how to register the units for warranties etc. They were able to remove the old AC and install the whole new system the same day, roughly ~5-6 hours including the crane to get the units on/off the roof of the condo building.
