Recently, I noticed it making some strange noises again and immediately reached out. They booked my appointment very quickly and I was happy to see Hike return for the call. He took it apart and discovered it was a problem with the motor, which was under warranty. He was able to get a new one and install it a couple days later. I only had to pay for the labor. Finally, an HONEST appliance repair company. Art was my technician. My older Subzero frig seemed to be running hot around the vents. Another company had quoted me $3200 for a new freezer compressor. Art said that wasn't necessary. He performed a cleaning of the coiling springs and took the bottom vent cover off to let the refrigerator breathe in the future. Instead of spending $3200 I spent $185. He also serviced my older HVAC unit, a more obscure water source heat pump model that not alot of people service. Two other companies told me the unit needed to be replaced at a cost of anywhere from $5000 to 12,000. I told Art a third company had already done a very expensive deep clean. He said it was good that I did the cleaning but that it only needed to be done every five years. He replaced some of the freon for $130 and colder air was blowing thru my vents in no time. All in all, this company saved me a boatload of money and I appreciate it. read more

I want to start by saying that our initial experience with this company was great. The technician they sent to repair our washer and fridge fixed both issues without any problems and at a fair price. Because of that positive experience, we called them again when our dryer stopped working and our dishwasher flooded. The technician who came out the second time seemed knowledgeable, but he spent an unusual amount of time talking about his personal life, previous work history, and education. It felt as though he was trying to prove his qualifications. While it was a bit odd, we allowed him to assess the issues. He told us the dryer vent needed to be cleaned or replaced. Regarding the dishwasher, I don't recall the exact issue, but he performed a repair and quoted us prices for both jobs, which we agreed to. He returned on another day to complete the work. He went into our attic and told us he had cleaned something related to the dryer vent and that the dryer should work as long as we did not overload it. He also stated verbally AND IN THE RECEIPT that the dryer duct had been replaced. However, when we later moved and checked behind the dryer ourselves, we found a broken duct that had not been replaced. He mentioned that the dryer needed additional parts and said he would return to complete the repair. At that point, however, we were uncomfortable and did not want this specific technician to come back. To this day, the duct has still not been replaced. We called and requested a different technician. The new technician stated that the issue might be mechanical and that repairing the internal components would cost between $600-$800. For comparison, a brand-new LG 4.5 Cu. Ft. High Efficiency Stackable Front Load Dryer retails for $699.99. When I asked why I would spend that much on repairs instead of purchasing a new unit, I did not receive a clear explanation. I do not typically leave negative reviews, but this experience has been frustrating and disappointing. Based on our second experience, I cannot recommend this company. I am leaving two stars only because the first technician did a good job. Im sure there will be a comeback from the owner as well. I used Yelp's project manager to send my needs out to multiple companies that could potentially handle my needed gas oven repair and to get quotes, and ultimately went with Big H&A. They initially communicated very well through the Yelp app and got me set up for an in person consultation at my house. Timeframe for their availability was pretty good. Service technician who came out was pretty close to the time window I was provided. He spent good amount of time evaluating the problem with the oven and as suspected had to do with faulty internal temperature gauge/thermostat. We agreed on price range for part and labor for replacing it and he said he'd be in touch soon to notify approximately when part would be available to schedule next appointment. Unfortunately, that's where communication experience broke down a bit. Didn't hear from him nor anyone else from the company for a long time. I reached out myself and they informed me of the part being on back order and could be days to months for it to be available. Ultimately it came in within a couple of weeks and we were able to get the service appointment scheduled about a week after that. Service technician who replaced the thermostat did a great job. My dryer stopped blowing hot air. My usual tech couldn't come out for a few days so I decided to give these guys a try. They came out immediately so that was a plus. Their tech diagnosed that a thermostat needed to be replaced. The part cost $50. The invoice came out to $350 which also included a cleaning and maintenance. So why the 3 stars? It was $50-$100 more expensive from other places I got a quote afterwards. I will be transparent and say that my original interaction with the technician dispatched by Big H & A did not go well. The technician was not truthful about the availability of parts for my repair (he told me the part was discontinued even though I could find it easily online) and did not follow up when he said he would. I posted my dissatisfaction with my initial experience with Big H & A and was soon contacted by Art, the owner of the company. Art was a complete breath of fresh air. Art immediately apologized for my experience and took full ownership of the situation. He agreed that my experience was unacceptable and was not defensive even in the slightest. He was understanding, kind, and most importantly, accountable. Accountability starts at the top and, from my experience, Art is a truly accountable leader and demands it from the people who work for him. Contacted Big H&A on a Tuesday night at 9pm after something got caught between the washer door and the rubber seal....rubber seal was completely ripped up. They responded immediately and I was able to schedule the diagnostic the next day. The price they quoted me was fair, much lower than a few other companies I contacted. Alex and Stan came out on Friday night to replace the rubber seal on my LG washer - they were very courteous and clean and were in and out in under an hour! We scheduled a diagnostic for our washer as some ashes got in due to recent wild fires. The scheduling process was quick and easy. They were able to get someone out the next day which was great. The technician Art was punctual, knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. He inspected our washer and explained to us regarding his cleaning process. He then spent ~45 minutes (or maybe less) working on it. He also gave us some tips on how to maintain in the future. Diagnostic fee was $60ish but they will apply that to the total service fee. I had an excellent experience with this appliance repair company. When I called, they responded immediately and were at my home within an hour. The owner, Art, was professional, courteous, and very clean in his work. He took the time to carefully troubleshoot and identify the true source of the problem instead of rushing to a quick fix. He came fully prepared with all the necessary tools to properly diagnose and address the issue. We have two dishwashers that have had ongoing problems with the door latches not closing properly. I was ready to replace them as they would intermittently stop mid cycle. They were apparently not leveled correctly from the original installation, and although multiple technicians had looked at them in the past, no one actually resolved the root cause. We called them out and, after a very reasonable service fee, the technician diagnosed the issue and let us know it was likely the motor.
