Great breakfast and lunch spot in a convenient location. We love Reuben's! Located in a large strip mall with lots of parking that is in the heart of Palm City proper, Reuben's serves up classic, no frills breakfast and lunch dishes. Inside, it looks like an old school diner, with both booths and tables and even an old fashioned dining bar! I've been a few times now and it's good every time. The staff is always friendly and attentive and often knows all of this regulars. The food is consistently tasty and in generous portions. The menu is no frills but also has a great selection. I can never seem to choose and always end up getting one of their extra large pancakes. Looks like nothing special but always tastes very good. And bonus points they have sugar free syrup! My husband got the breakfast Reuben sandwich which was really good. We loved the egg spin on it and had the home fries as a side. The home fries are so good and cooked with onions and peppers. Very tasty and probably some of the best we've had anywhere! The person with us ordered the vegetarian omelet and it was so big she could barely eat 1/3 of it! I can't remember what others have had on my other trips there, but I know someone else raved about the matzoh ball soup too. Well Reuben's uses plastic cups, spoons and forks. We ordered a spinach omelette and home fries well done. When we got the bill they charged almost $4.00 dollars extra for well done home fries and extra egg. We were not told of the price increase and the fries were very greasy. I can't believe that I've never posted a review of Reuben's!? My favorite local breakfast spot and also the closest to home. This place is like my Cheers- only without alcohol. Eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, home-fries, grits, coffee... nothing fancy, just a basic breakfast. Always hot from the kitchen and served by Jennifer or Carol, guaranteed to come with a smile and a friendly attitude. Lunch is limited, but why not order breakfast at noon? I am having a hard time writing this because I am in shock of all the 4-5 Star reviews for this place. I'm giving this place 1 1/2 stars that rounds up to 2. This was my first time here and I looked at the yelp Star rating (which is a 4 at the time of this review) I LOVE supporting a local business but this is not one that I will be coming to again. The wait staff were friendly and I was seated right away (they have open seating) - that's where they earned the Star, because everything else from a customer perspective was just not appealing. I placed my order for 2 eggs over medium, with corn beef hash and toast - this is a very simple order with a coffee. The coffee came out quick and hot, and it was a let down after that. The coffee was okay but it was served in a small styrofoam cup, I thought that was odd for a sit down restaurant. I waited an extraordinary amount of time for my meal to come out (about 40 minutes at a restaurant that was at 1/4 capacity) , which was rather disappointing. I thought it was just me, but they had their regulars who were that who were just sitting there twiddling their fingers, waiting for their meals as well. My meal finally came out, the portions were generous (which is why they get a half star) but to me, the quality and flavor just didn't hit the mark. The food came out on a paper plate with plastic utensils which again to me is unusual for a sit down restaurant. I'm not sure how people are giving this place such a high rating, I was really hoping to match their experience but alas I was let down. 1.5 out of 5 stars for me. We've tried Reubens several times for breakfast. Just cannot return even though I like to patronize local places. Even though it was nearly empty very slow service. Food was ok - generous helpings. But the dining area is just plain dirty. In need of a deep cleaning and fresh paint. For whatever reason the utensils are plastic. Not even sturdy plastic but really really cheap plastic. I downloaded Yelp exclusively to write this review. I live and work locally and have visited this establishment upwards of 10-15 times. We know as a local office that we can't come for lunch without call ahead because the wait is a bit longer, it's never been a deal breaker. My husband and daughter and I came for breakfast this morning. We sat down at 10:30 am and ordered our drinks and her food. Drinks came immediately and her fruit fairly quick. Her pancakes took a bit and at which point the server told us ours would "be a while longer". In the time we were waiting 2 large groups were turned away, 1 family came in and having sat without being greeted, left. Two families were met at the door with "it will be at least 45 minutes for your food". When we reached the 45 minutes since ordering mark we asked if our check had been started yet. The unpleasant server danced around the question to which we calmly said if not, please don't worry about it and we will pay for her (my daughter's ) stuff. Our server snapped, "Some people wait much longer" as she jerked my card out of my hand and I said, "well that's ridiculous." While she kept talking about how "we aren't corporate" I looked at my husband at the table (having 10+ years serving and bartending experience) and said, "that's not normal. 45 minutes is a normal table turnover, not a ticket time. 15 minutes is a ticket time." She said, "get them the fuck out of here" I stood and walked over saying, "what did you just say? Did you just say get them the fuck out of here?" And she started SCREAMING at me, "I lost my husband on New Years and y'all are over here talking shit." I tried my best to remain calm as I'm being berated for one of the longest ticket times I've ever seen (for a egg sandwich by the way ) when all we asked was to leave. She became red in the face she was screaming so loudly "JUST GET OUT JUST LEEEEAAAVEEE." I paid my $19 tab for 3 ojs, bowl of fruit and silver dollar pancakes and tipped my standard $4 on said check. The other server was apologizing profusely and other customers began grabbing my attention with "this isn't right, that's not okay." I feel badly that any of us experience loss, truly. It was totally worth the wait, wonderful (extremely polite service) by the young lady who served us and the food was spot on. The servings are very generous so make sure you've got a big appetite when you arrive! Extra kudos to the waitress- a party of seven arrived, started rearranging furniture outside, swapping chairs with other tables and making snide comments after she very politely explained it would be a 10-15 minute wait before she'd be able to take their order. Thanks to Yelp we found this nice little restaurant. This place is just so wonderful. The staff is very very warm and friendly. They make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in the door to the time that you leave. The menu selection is one that it's hard to find only one thing to pick. Everything on the menu looked very good. There was no shortage of options to pick from. My homefries were burnt and I didn't want to complain about them because they were pretty busy. Our waitress saw them and said that they were unacceptable and asked if it was okay if she took them and had the cooks make a fresh batch. I said that was fine and explained to her why I didn't send them back before. Her response was just awesome. She said that I shouldn't have to put up with anything that is not done properly. We both ordered Hot chocolate and Ice tea. We didn't have to wait long for refills. Our waitress was right on the spot. She made sure that our glasses were always filled. We then ordered the breakfast sampler. It had a little bit of everything we were wanting. Eggs, homefries, pancakes, sausage and bacon. It wasn't expensive either for that. When we got the bill I thought she forgot to list something. It is just how that place is. The food is really good quality and fresh. What we got was just so good. It was one of the better breakfasts that I have had in a while. If you are in town and are looking for a great little dive or restaurant, this place is it. Something must have been off today. Terribly slow from the get go. I was with my regular group of friends and we really enjoy each I hers company and had a lot of catching up to do, so at first but wasn't a big deal. We took our time and looked at the menu. We were served coffee. Our waitress really was sweet and yes it was busy as this place usually is. Then it became very noticeable, we were getting hungry and realized at least 20 minutes had passed, our coffee mugs were empty, creamer packets scattered everywhere on table, finally she came to take our order. It took quite some time for it to be delivered to our table and it didn't come at the same time. What really stood out however, is the half hour it took for us to get the bill. It also was funny how the staff in this place just kept running about like this was business as usual. Many customers at different tables were getting impatient because they weren't getting their checks picked up. People started stacking at the breakfast counter because they wanted to pay and get out. The staff was getting upset at people standing there but they weren't connecting the dots as to why people were standing at the counter. When we asked if something had happened (hence slow service).. the reply was "we got slammed" ??? This doesn't make sense , it just looked busy, no one was waiting to be seated? And if this were true why weren't they trying to turn tables? Food: 2 stars, good, cheese omelette and bacon hard to screw that up, nothing stood out.
