I love City Diner of Stuart!!!! A real mom and pop diner that makes delicious fresh food. I'm a huge fan of the Shrimp and Grits and open faced turkey. That said, all their food is fantastic. The waitstaff and management are just as fantastic!!! The wait staff is friendly and attentive which is just as important as having great food. I've also had the pleasure of meeting the owner Dimitrios who couldn't be nicer or more greatful of our business!!! A true gem!!! Flying back home on XMAS morning we needed some breakfast. It was around 10.30 am. City Diner was packed. I gotta say, our breakfast was awesome, as was our waitress. Who doesn't love a good diner?! This place was fairly empty at 5:30pm on a Thursday night - seemed a bit strange to me. They have a very large dining room with lots of seating. We were visiting Stuart and were looking for a quick and comfortable lunch spot. We saw the sign for the City Diner and had an enjoyable experience. While this place promotes itself as a diner, the menu was much more extensive than I expected and the portions were robust. The Greek influence is clear as the menu featured several Greek items. We enjoyed a steak souvlaki, accompanied by rice, veggies and pita bread. The entree was delicious although not perfect as the skewered pieces of meat were not consistently cooked to the same level of doneness, and the meat juices dripped onto the pita, making the bread a bit soggy. Still tasty though! We also had a gyro sandwich with coleslaw. It was very good and quite large. I couldn't decide between the pastrami sandwich or the corned beef sandwich. I opted for the pastrami and was quite pleased. Tender, flavorful and large enough to satisfy my hunger. The fries were good too. My wife had an omelet with provolone cheese and home fries. While the potatoes where flavorful, they were a bit dry. A little hot sauce helped solve that issue. The server was pleasant and accommodating. The prices were reasonable, especially in light of the good-sized portions. Overall our visit was quite enjoyable, and we would definitely visit the City Diner next time we're in Stuart. read more

As a Jersey boy I think I know diners and this is as close as you'll get to a "real" diner in the Stuart, FL area. Not quite there but, close. From the outside it doesn't look like a diner but once you enter you'll see the familiar cheese cakes, booths and counter, just like a real diner. The service was great and the food was... dinerish (good). I decided to try the poached eggs over corned beef hash and home fried potatoes with a biscuit and my typical black tea. The poached eggs were spot on with runny yolks and firm whites. The home fries were crispy on the outside (as they should be) and moist on the inside and the corned beef tasted homemade (although I would have preferred it to be a bit crispier). The only negatives was the biscuit, which was pre-buttered and grilled (aaarrgg) and the lack of steamed milk (for my hot tea). The key question for any review... would I return? Maybe. The food was good as was the service but the lack of steamed milk is a definite issue for me and most likely would not be for you. If you do visit, just skip the biscuits and order your coffee or juice and you should be good to go. read more

Been to this diner a few times. Today my wife had a poor version of a patty Melt. Bread over toasted, the beef was tasteless. I had a City club. Previously the menu listed with Swiss Cheese and Cheddar cheese. the menu had been updated to choose your cheese. So I chose cheddar. The sandwich had Swiss and cheddar. The Swiss cheese was hard on the edges. There was almost no mayo on the sandwich. This was very disappointing. PS- The service was excellent!!!! The kitchen not so much! read more

City Diner is a good place to get a meal or just a dessert and coffee anytime time you're wanting something. The desserts are great! We like the NY Cheesecake and the others as well. They have good coffee and that's always a plus when you're going out for breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, their breakfasts are good from eggs, pancakes, French toast and their Eggs Benedict are awesome! Their lunches are great and it's a good place for dinner if you want something like home cooking. They're open 24 hours so if you wake up in the middle of the night you can satisfy that hunger easily at City Diner. Next week when I have my car cleaned at Paradise Car Wash, I'll stop by again. You should give City Diner a try next time you're hungry and want something besides your old stand bye. I know you'll be glad you tried something new! read more

With a very large menu such as everything from meatloaf to breakfast foods this is a must stop if you are in the area. So, if this wasn't a diner it would be two stars, but since it's a diner the bar is, obviously, set lower. Now, let me begin with the fact the prices are outrageous for not just diner food, but the quality of the ingredients and the food itself is just out of whack. The ingredients are clearly pre-made, frozen, low quality garbage and it's put together in kind with the quality of the ingredients. For a diner the food quality is poor, very poor, and the prices are simply outrageous compared to any other type of diner you may visit, either a chain or a single owner establishment. Service was friendly and good, the food came out quick, but to be honest I struggle with this being a good or bad thing. Ultimately, even for a diner, this place falls incredibly short of even my lowest expectations for a diner. If Waffle House e er decided to come to Stuart, and nearby City Diner, I believe City Diner would see a major dent in their patronage from all but their most loyal followers who, just being real here, know that Waffle House not only has better quality food but is priced accordingly. I was looking for a place different than usual that I could take the family out. I stopped by the City Dinner and I'm glad I did! Nice atmosphere and very clean. I ordered the liver and onions, my grandson had the chicken and waffles, son in law had the city burger and daughter had a gyro platter. All were very tasty, cooked to order and piled high on the plate! I had to take the rest of mine home, too much to eat. Service was outstanding and the desert are an added treat!!!
