I have eaten at Toojay's several times specifically in the Coral Springs restaurant. Usually I'll go for lunch and or dinner and enjoy their hot pastrami on rye and matzo bowl soup combination. Which, by the way is excellent. Today I stopped by the Stuart Florida Toojay's this time to try breakfast. I chose the pancakes platter which included two pancakes. (added the blueberries as an option) Scrambled eggs and link sausage dish. I also ordered my traditional breakfast tea with honey. Service: When I walked into the restaurant there was no one at the hostess counter. Since the sign stated to wait for the hostess be seated, I waited a few minutes before one of the cooks noticed me and told me to grab a table and he'd have someone come out as soon as possible. About five minutes later someone finally showed up. Not a great start. My server... let's just say was efficient. However, it would've been great if she served me with some type of a resemblance of a smile. The atmosphere Toojay's has a pretty nice atmosphere with booths, dark wood trim and an interesting eclectic mix of music that was low enough to speak with and hear your dining partner. The food. Of course the restaurant did not have steamed milk for my tea and had to hunt around for honey but eventually we got an acceptable serving of tea. The pancakes and scrambled eggs came out pretty quickly. However, they rested on one dish a fact that I hate as the syrup inevitably migrates to the eggs. Fortunately I had an extra small plate under my tea which I used to separate both. The eggs were okay and the pancakes were okay but, the link sausage were small and a bit undercooked. The bottom line: The bottom line or as I call it "the customer so" what, would I come back? Probably not. Had brunch here Christmas day. This is a New York style deli restaurant. The d3serts are delicious. I have eaten here a number of times and the food is consistently good. The service was very good with pleasant waitress who was friendly and professional. The food was over-cooked and we had to send the fries back because they tasted like they had been sitting under a warmer all day. $36 for two modest sandwiches. I was coming from the doctors in that part of town so I stopped in to pick up bread, pastrami and corned beef. They have the best bread. There's no where close that sells corned beef and pastrami. I wish they were closet but this is the closest to me. The bakery has so many pastries and cakes. The bagels are good too. You have to go early for the best selection. read more

I used to really like Toojays. I've been to the Lake Worth location many times, tend to this one in Stuart a couple of times before. On Saturday late morning, it wasn't very busy, it was well staffed, and yet the service was terrible and it took us an hour to get a simple order of eggs, sausage and toast and a featured Thanksgiving leftover sandwich. The breakfast order was at the level of Denny's for Thanksgiving leftover sandwich not as good as that Long deceased mall food court turkey outpost whose name I long forgotten. It even took forever to get the check after we asked for it. I will not be going back. Who manages these places. The one in Fort Lauderdale closed and couldn't even properly toast a bagel. I mean that literally. Some idiot toasted it without slicing it in half first. I remind you that delicatessen is in the name. read more

Seven of us stopped in for lunch today, St Paddy's Day, and even though we were in the minority of people not wearing green we had a wonderful lunch. We shared the potato pancakes with sour cream & applesauce and they were excellent. We had a variety of egg dishes as well as sandwiches. Their rye bread is fantastic and a must try. The corned beef/cabbage special was also a hit, huge portions. Service was quick, especially considering how busy they were. We all got a kick out the robot delivering the food! We were so happy to find a TooJays locally. My husband and I came to the Stuart location which was closest to our home. The location was very clean especially the bathroom and the floors of the restaurant. The tables were immaculate no sticky stuff anywhere. My husband ordered the Shepherds pie which came out huge and the potatoes crispy and the plate hot which was a first for anywhere he has ever ordered it before. He truly enjoyed every morsel!!! Thinking he'd have leftovers forget that every bit was eaten. I chose a salad that came with 3 scoops of of my choice from chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad and shrimp salad. I chose one scoop of tuna and 2 scoops of shrimp salad. And pickles. Great choices!!!!!! I had leftover but as soon as we got home I ate the rest as trip home was a bad rain storm and people drive crazy in the rain. Once home safe and sound I celebrated with my leftover and my son had his pastrami sandwich we brought him from the restaurant and he ate it in 3 minutes. A new record!!!! Yes we can't wait to return !!! BTW Tiffany our waitress was great friendly, extra helpful, and kind. Nothing I asked for was too much. Best pastrami/corned beef sandwich around. And the rye bread is 50% of the success of that sandwich. The meat is always plentiful and tender, with just the right amount of seasonings and fat. I have come here occasionally when I visit my Mom but grew up in the deli world of NYC and CT so I know my Deli's. It used to be a great place but now it is bordering on terrible. Portions are small and expensive. And the service, Terrible! Waited 30 minutes for a pastrami sandwich on a Sunday that had about 50% of the tables filled - give me a break. I'm a sucker for a good deli especially as there really aren't any anywhere near where I live. TooJay's has multiple locations in Florida and fortunately there was one near where we were staying. The restaurant is located in a strip mall shopping area and has a deli type store as you enter with lot's of seating in the restaurant itself. My wife loves Matzo Ball soup so she ordered that with half a tuna fish sandwich. Both met with her approval. For me it's either corned beef or pastrami. This time corned beef won. Served warm and lean (I do not care for corned beef not properly trimmed. Biting through fat is a huge turn off) Fortunately TooJay's corned beef is perfectly trimmed. Several choices for bread or rolls-I chose to have my sandwich on rye. Possibly some of the freshest tasting rye I've had in a long time. I also ordered their onion rings and was not disappointed. Nice flavor and not too heavy. Onions had a great flavor. Loved the service-refills were plentiful including my to go cup. Another great find. Walked in mid-day and mid-week with my daughter. Lots of retiree age customers and a literal robot running food to tables. We noticed a server always accompanied the robot so essentially it was doing the heavy lifting (we witnessed robot carrying 8 plates of food) and the server still handled customer service. We started with latkes - they were ok. Fried just a bit too long because it was way more crunch, not evenly balanced with a soft inside latke. Daughter loved the Cobb salad - it's massive and very fresh! I had a bowl of chicken soup. It's what you would expect from a Jewish deli. Service was outstanding! Well we discovered this little gem of a deli yesterday and we cannot wait to go back. This is a little slice of downtown NYC right here in Stuart. The food was very fresh and delicious. This is a pretty solid and consistent spot. You walk in and smell freshly baked cookies from their bakery and see slabs of fresh meat in the window you know you're in for a treat. Considering it's a Jewish deli, you can't go wrong with some nice deli meat sandwiches (pastrami, roast beef, etc) for lunch although this most recent time we decided to go for breakfast. The service was quick and pretty standard until... we saw a robot pass by delivering food to the tables. WHAT! Are we in the fifth element?? It was pretty cool to see but I've got to be honest the robot & trays could use a good cleaning. Looks like he hadn't been washed since they got him. Other than that, everything was delicious. I like how you can get a bagel with cream cheese (many flavors to choose from too) instead of your typical side of toast. Eggs are cooked perfectly to order. My husband picked up dinner for me. I got matzoh ball soup and a tongue on rye. The soup was fair, but the matzoh balls were decent. My husband thought both the soup and matzoh balls were lacking in flavor. The tongue sandwich was fine once I put mustard on it. Since I wasn't with him, I can only tell you of my TooJay's experiences in the past regarding the ambiance. All the TooJay's Delis I have been to (about three of them) look pretty much the same - like a deli. Tables and chairs and booths. The West Palm Beach TooJay's has outdoor dining as well. As you enter the restaurant, on your way to get seated, you pass the most delicious-looking desserts. However, since I cannot have sugar, I always know that I'll have two NSA rugalach. Too bad they haven't figured out how to make the Killer Chocolate Cake. I have been going to TooJay's since about 1982 or 83. I wouldn't be honest in this review if I failed to mention that over the years, TooJay's menu has dropped some of my favorite choices. Between that and diet changes I need to follow, I am left with just a couple of things to eat. Gone is dark turkey meat from the turkey platter and the salad with chicken, grapes and other fruit, vegetables and a sweet dressing. At about $15 and maybe more, the nova platter is more than I'd like to spend, especially when I'm not supposed to eat salt. Latke-wise, the regular mini-latkes are very good and come with sour cream and apple sauce; but I'd like to know who came up with loaded latkes? Very undeli-like. It must have been a bad day. Once we ordered our food and they started bringing it out for a party of eight it took us 30 minutes for everyone to get their food. One ordered the French onion soup, which came out last, the cheese was burnt on top, and the soup was watery with no flavor . I ordered the patty melt, which came out looking pitiful. The bread was quite a bit smaller than the burger about a half an inch all the way around you could see the burger that had no bread I ordered it medium rare with the French fries, fried crisp. The burger came out medium and the french fries were cold and definitely not crisp. I sent it back and got the bowl of chicken noodle soup instead due to the slowness of the service. Three of us in our party got the chicken noodle soup all of which had been put in the microwave to heat up, but it was lukewarm in the hottest spot in room temperature for the rest of it. Three of the meals things came out way overcooked borderline on burnt. Can't blame the server for the service. She can't serve if she can't get the food and she can't help with the condition of what they sent out. Several of us ordered dessert, which was excellent and they made a fresh pot of coffee for us. TooJay's must've had a staffing issue back in the kitchen and they were using whoever they could, to substitute cooking. I don't see how they could stay in business with the kind of food that they sent out. The company in our party, the desert and coffee were the highlights of our evening. I live 25 miles from this restaurant and I doubt I will make the effort to come back unless it's for desert and coffee. read more

My favorite tuna salad ever has been destroyed by TooJay's cost cutting Their wonderful white albacore tuna has been replaced with some inferior mushy grade dark tuna. Weirdest cheesecake that I've ever had in my life. The cheesecake was chunky and the strangest texture ever. It was not sweet either and the strawberry topping was off. I have been craving cheesecake for a few weeks and finally gave in... I hate to report how disappointed I was this morning with our breakfast at 2 Jay's. There were very few people in the restaurant I think four couples. We ordered and it took us over 20 minutes to get our breakfast, which was ridiculous especially since there was only four tables in the restaurant and about two people per table. We ordered the corn beef hash with two over easy, a bagel home fries on mine and cheese grits on my husband's. The eggs came out over done, the yolks were so well done. My husband had to send his back and get two new eggs. The breakfast came out just warm, not hot. The corned beef hash was dry, tasted like it was out of the can and not a very large amount of it for almost $16 for that breakfast. The potatoes were so so, his cheese grits were hard and not very warm, not a lot of cheese either definitely felt like they were sitting in the bowl too long and got cool and hard. The bagel was all right Nothing outstanding. Our waitress was very good and an asset to the company but all in all the breakfast was very disappointing and way overpriced, plus the amount of time it took to cook that was ridiculous. $30 + for breakfast is crazy, especially when it wasn't very good. read more
