Welcoming neighborhood barber shop. Called the day before to get a full haircut. I hadn't had one since before the pandemic and wanted to shed the weight of all that hair. This is a call ahead place. They have online scheduling and some same day openings as well. But if you're not sure, call and they'll get you sorted. Services are listed on the site as well. Huge plus points for the BLM bench outside the shop!! The precautions they were taking for Covid-19 made me feel incredibly safe and cared for. As for Ace, she was so warm and welcoming. Everyone at Reunion is so wonderful-- my husband, son, and daughter have been going for years but after my cut today with Cole, I can officially say we are an exclusively Reunion family. Ace is amazing and has given my daughter the coolest wolf cut, and she is so patient with my son who started hair cuts with her in toddlerhood and now absolutely loves going to the shop. Cole typically cuts my hub's hair (handsome pompadour), but today I saw Cole had a random opening and saw it as a sign. I have quite long hair and I'm really wanting to get away from heat styling, but I tend to look just disheveled when I don't heat style. I came in with air dried hair, Cole gave me dry cut that highlighted my mild waves perfectly and then just a little dab of the Suavecita Argan oil and holy moly this is the best haircut and style I've ever had. And they didn't have to flat iron or curl or use tons of products to achieve it. This has to be my favorite barbershop I have been to yet. I have never felt more comfortable and they really listen to what you want. The staff is very friendly and the online booking system works amazingly. I have been here twice and I have always left loving my hair. I also loved that after my first visit, they remembered me and exactly what I did to my hair. That quality in a staff deserves 5 stars in itself. I will say, do not come expecting the most perfect fade ever (if that's your thing), but they get the job done if you ask for one. Will definitely come back whenever I need my next haircut. Monse has been my go to barber for years now, and to say that she is talented is an understatement. Ace has a created an amazing barbershop. The shop is charming, and what I love most about Reunion Barbershop is that the women have a passion for what they do. This is their art. You can sense the teamwork and the friendship the second you walk in the door. Reunion Barbershop has everything someone could need from a barber. Monse was my barber. First time visitor and will definitely be back. Atmosphere of the location is real relaxed with good vibes all around. The synergy between everyone makes it feel very comfortable and the equipment / upkeep of the location is very maintained. I chose this location out of other suggestions because of the online booking system. Real easy, clean and simple to use whether you prepay or pay on site. Was easily able to navigate, select my time and the options were easy to understand. Location is easy to get to and parking is great. I missed the woman's name at the front desk, but she was very personable, polite and welcoming as was everyone else without feeling pushy or artificial. I have a strange combination of curly African hair that grows in an odd direction. Later on I'll get a real haircut, but the buzzcut w/ the head massage treatment (easily found on their website) was excellent. Monse is excellent with a straight razor and the first person I've had to use it properly. Other places I've visited either don't prep your skin correctly or make the shaving zone feel tender and painful. Really surprised more barbers don't wash your hair AFTER like this location does. She also made sure to keep checking in on if the towel and water were too hot for me. I'd say if you have African hair or need a good haircut don't pass this place up. Austin is fairly liberal, so if you're from out of town or more conservative don't let the LGBT, female owned, etc vibes dissuade you from coming here. Just don't bring in a bad or impatient attitude because this is a real chill gem of North Austin. read more

Since I had been in Austin for the past 5 years, I had bounced around from shop to shop looking for the right person to give me the exact cut I wanted. More recently for the past two years, I went back to my mohawk and as I had gotten comfortable with one person they unfortunately moved away. I met Ace at her previous shop and from the first cut, I knew she was going to be my go to person. She is extremely personable and really takes her time to make sure you leave with a cut you sat in her chair for. I can't say enough good things about Ace and Monse. The vibe in this place is like something out of a movie the music is great the barbers are always laughing and having a great time. I have been in once a month since they opened and haven't had a bad experience yet.
