Recently bought a vinyl from eBay that needed a deep clean. The vinyl was in rough shape when I…read morereceived it. After multiple attempts at hand cleaning it, a good amount of crackling lingered. After looking at a couple options I settled on trying out Blind Dog's cleaning service. They offer an ultrasonic cleaning for records so thought I'd give them a shot. Mark was very helpful and quick to take care of my vinyl, and the price was fair for a double LP. The cleaning has increased the clarity for this record by a wide margin. Some crackling still remains, but probably have to accept that's from damage. Overall very happy with the service provided; glad my record could be restored to the point of enjoyable listening. Also an awesome shop to browse around. Clean, spacious and well organized. Will definitely come by again to pick up some records down the road.

Upon a quick Google search for the Orange County area I found Blind Dog. I had received some records in the mail recently that were warped in transit and wanted to see if someone could help me out. I first called them a little after their open time to see if I could inquire and confirm the price, but there was no answer. I decided let's go ahead and visit the store because I'm not too far away. Showed up about 12:30 PM to a store with lights off and the front door locked. Business hours were clearly posted on the door showing 11 to 6 for a Saturday. I also double checked Yelp and Instagram and they both showed the same thing. I was really disappointed because I was wanting to get opinions on if it was worth it to flatten my records and they were closed in the middle of their business hours. I ended up going right across the street to Port of Sound Records and they were phenomenal with their assistance. Better luck next time then, Blind Dog?

Dude didn't have the box, to he said I could "borrow" moving blankets..I came back some time later, First think out of his mouth...Where are my blankets!!??" I'm not sure what a couple of moving blankets are worth , but it cost you a nuisance of a customer I guess.. I've been taking my business elsewhere ever since, but this never sat well with me. If you like to get the best stuff you can afford, go elsewhere!!! If you have 100+k to spend on great gear, go here I guess..otherwise f off.

Since then, I've picked up multiple speakers, amps, turntables, and a ridiculous amount of vinyl. And let me tell you--there's no one I trust more than Mike Rose when it comes to building the perfect setup. The guy knows high-end audio, jazz, rock--you name it--better than anyone I've met. But it's more than just knowledge. He actually listens--not just to the gear, but to what you want out of your system. No sales pressure. No gimmicks. Just straight-up passion and expertise. I moved out of state a few years ago, but every time I'm back in town, I make it a point to stop by--whether it's to pick up an album (or a few) or to grab more gear that he can drop-ship to me wherever I am. My latest visit reminded me of something important--it was long overdue to leave this review. If you care about killer sound and honest advice--do yourself a favor and visit Excel Audio. You won't find a better place or a better guy to guide you.

Inside, they have a quirky and fun setup with a good amount of crates to dig through. Despite its old age, this shop has an amazing selection of old school and modern records. They definitely have some rare finds that I have not seen at other record shops! Overall, all of the staff here are friendly and welcoming and the record prices are fair. I did not want to break the bank, but some of my fave finds I saw here were Mk.Gee, Orion Sun, Faye Webster, and Playboi Carti. Definitely stop by if you are in the area and spend some time browsing!

Lots of records, cassette tapes, cds, and comic books. There's some tshirts, stickers, pins, coasters, and the funniest cards (birthday, engagement, wedding, etc) with very funny/ silly and mildly inappropriate humor and drawings (but so fun!). There's lots of collectible toys and goodies all over. It feels so fun inside. You can tell the owner is a true collector and the store reflects that. It is packed but not overwhelming (does NOT feel like a junk store). Everything is well ordered and neat. If you love music please come support this shop. It's a gem!

FYI I bought that Ween record on RSD and guess what I showed up at 3AM to get on line like the other die hards that wanted something bad enough to wake up early, Tom does the fairest, best and most orderly RSD I've ever experienced. Everyone that works there is super friendly and helpful. And just like any great record store, the staff always has amazing recommendations for new music to check out. The store is just the right size to not be overwhelming, everything is well organized, and there is enough room in the bins to make it easy to flip through the records. 10 out 0f 10 for shoppability. In addition to a great new and used vinyl selection, they also carry cd's, cassettes, turntables, speakers, stickers, action figures, t-shirts and more. If you're into music, then you'll definitely find something you need at Moldy Toes. And on the off chance that you don't find something you want, there are lots of other cool little shops to check out in the neighborhood.

The vinyl collection consisted exclusively of knockers, slappers, bangers, and heaters. I saw all of the essentials when I dug through the inventory here: Kano, James Brown, D-Train, Vaughan Mason, Graham Central Station, Hot Cuisine, The Strikers, Secret Weapon, and etcetera. Any Prelude, any Sutra, any Westend--Funk Freaks just might have it. I was pleasantly surprised. The customer service earned all the stars I can give too. Loser and Debo managed the kind of authentic professionalism and good humor that most franchises try foolishly codify in a handbook. Congeniality can't be fabricated, and neither can The Funk! Loser played me a copy of Jammin' Big Guitar by Vaughan Mason, and Debo shared a few polished anecdotes about The Funk Freaks' latest tour in Berlin. Neither man was just chilling in the store though. What is most impressive about The Freaks is their assiduous promotion of all that is FUNK FREAKS. Debo and Loser were unpacking several boxes of black sweaters featuring the notorious FUNK FREAKS graffiti that has now garnered international acclaim for Loser, Debo, Unique, Luer, Ney, Bosoe, Irene R., Clos, Lil Man, Phree, Groove, Aysai, and the rest of THE FUNK GANG. Loser only stopped moving merchandise to sell a Funk Freaks t-shirt to a woman who wanted a Funk Freaks shirt for her 2 year old. They're never too young for the Funk. The mother was in such a rush she forgot her credit card; without hesitating, Loser sped down the stairs, the shop is on the 2nd floor, stopped the mother in the lot and handed her the card. I seldom see that level of sheer effort made just to ensure a customer's satisfaction. These guys are freaks in word and deed. They go out of their way to put the classic funk in the correct hands. Do me favor. If you are a Funk Freak, or a Funk fan, please take me with you to the store when you go. I left hours ago, and I already want to be back there with The Freaks where The Funk belongs. In all seriousness: message me before you go. I need to pick up a Parliament single I should not have left there. Please do not go to see The Freaks without me. I need the Funk. I got to have that Funk!
