This place is cool as hell and the owner is chill, honestly the most chill dude that runs a store I've seen so no shade. The shop keeper was cool and he sold me a pair of bespoke doc martins for 70$, he said a runway model threw these out when pawned but I dunno I think he was scammed cus these docs seem fake. I'm disappointed but it doesn't take away from the atmosphere of the place, it cool as hell

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I was so surprised to see how many records were there! I came in to buy a t shirt and got sunglasses, a record for me, a comic for my nephew and a t shirt! Highly recommend! A MUST VISIT WHEN IN HUNTINGTON BEACH!

Cool spot!! You can find everything from band shirts, leather and denim jackets, hard to find records and nostalgic items here. I enjoyed browsing through the store, this is definitely a place my daughter would love to shop at! Metered parking available, accessible to the store.

We had a great shopping experience here today. my nephew was here visiting from Georgia, He likes Vintage clothing, we stopped in and were nicely greeted by Matt and Megan, We shopped and chatted awhile, and found some cute things as well. It was a pleasure and we will be back. Thank you

If there had been one other person in the shop, I wouldn't have been able to turn around. It feels overly cluttered, or even claustrophobic. The employee working was really friendly, and knew the inventory fairly well, though they didn't end up having anything i needed. This shop, like most of the shops in this and adjacent areas, is hyper focused on modern comics. I understand why, and it makes sense to a point, but it isn't somewhere i could see spending any time really picking through back issues for good stuff. If I lived nearby, i might get my weekly pull here, but i wouldn't reserve much time for hanging out. I was traveling through the area on a tour of shops looking specifically for older back issues, i'm afraid this shop doesn't hit that kind of niche. I'm also confused about the name, because there was no indication anywhere that coffee was involved at all. I expected something like a Cafe with an attached book store, but as it turns out the coffee referenced in the name of the shop refers to coffee grounds that they give away with purchases? It's just a little misleading, and a big reason I won't score this shop higher. Overall, this shop is probably good for a pull list, but not good for collectors who are deeper in the trenches than modern slabs and resale value collecting. The employee was nice, and helpful, but the location itself is not great, and the name doesn't really imply what the concept is very well.

From the outside, you might wonder if you're in the right place. Open the door, though, and--alakazam!--you're immediately surrounded by comics, manga and anime books, collectible trading cards, records, gaming accessories, and enough geeky goodness to make your wallet nervous. The prices are reasonable and Marco offers discounts if you ask. The shop isn't particularly wide, but it goes back... and back... and back. It's packed to the gills with merchandise, yet they've still managed to fit in plenty of tables for people to sit down and actually play games. Longtime owner Marco is gregarious, knowledgeable, and clearly enjoys what he does. Bonus points: he plays Magic: The Gathering himself, so if you want to talk MTG, you're not just getting a sales pitch--you're talking to a fellow player. The rest of the staff is friendly and helpful too. If you're hunting for something specific or have a question, just ask. They've also thought about the necessities of an extended gaming session: chips, candy, and chilled drinks are available to keep hunger at bay while you battle your way to victory--or, in my case, potentially make a series of questionable strategic decisions. There's even a restroom in the store, which becomes increasingly important the longer those gaming sessions go. Between the comics, cards, books, records, accessories, gaming space, helpful staff, and welcoming atmosphere, Alakazam feels like much more than a place to buy stuff. It feels like a neighborhood gaming hangout. This has officially become my new favorite gaming store. Alakazam indeed!

To be honest, dear reader, I am not an avid comic book reader! While I do enjoy the superhero…read moremovies that come along each year, and I do casually read certain runs, or listen to explanations of certain comics via Comics Explained, I do not keep up with this medium as consistently as I do with Video Games. The only run that I have kept up with on a consistent basis is the Sonic the Hedgehog comics, both the Archie run (slightly before Ian Flynn would take over) and the IDW run as I am a huge fan of Sonic. Due to this, I do like to visit a comic book store every once-in-a-while, and this is my #1 spot! I found out about this nice little spot back in 2006 or 2007 as after learning about the Archie run via the Sonic Mega Collection, I wanted to start reading these comics. I noticed this place from time to time in my family's travels to Bellflower and asked my Mother to take me one day. I stopped going for a long time, not because of any specific negative reason, but just because they stopped selling the Sonic run. Since Sonic is the only comic book that I read, I had no reason to return. I did find out about places like Pulp Fiction, but I found that the customer service was consistently not up to par and eventually stopped going. Last year, during Free Comic Book Day, I wanted to stop by a Comic Book Store in order to pick up some of the free comic books. I first went to Amazing Comics & Cards, but found the selection to be very limited and a similar problem of the customer service being poor. I went here after so long to see if they were participating in Free Comic Book Day, and luckily enough, they were! Going in, it is still majorly organized as I remember way back when, but just now with more Graphic Novels and Manga. One thing that I can always say is the best about this place is the customer service. When I went to Free Comic Book Day, they gave people a list of what was available and crossed out any that were not available, they allowed an individual to get way more comics than the previous store I went to (like 5 comics in comparison to 2 or 3), and when I was conflicted on which comic to get, they just allowed me to have both. Not only this, the main guy at the cash register, I never got his name, but is an older white gentleman that usually wears a cap, is always nice and helpful. I don't remember him from years ago, but immediately from our first interaction, he has the best personality. Easy to talk to and start up a conversation, and leaves a definite positive impression after stepping out of the store. And this isn't just one interaction, I had been going from time to time in 2025, and the attitude was always solid. They never seem to run out of the comics that I am looking for and just generally seem to be great spot hidden away in the Bellflower area. In all, from what I remember back in the mid-to-late 2000s and recently, I give them 5 stars. A great place for comic readers and worthy of being one of my favorite spots to stop by when I am in the mood of purchasing a comic.
