My new favorite winery in the Calistoga/ St. Helena area. We were greeted with a chilled glass of sparkling wine, then were taken on a very cool private tour by Guillermo in his little ATV. The views from the gazebo at the top of the property are stunning and peaceful, and we enjoyed our tastings up there. My favorite was the Can Franc, which is absolutely incredible. But also loved the white, sparking, and Mountain cuvée. All the wines were great. We got a membership, and also bought some wine to enjoy while we were in town. Thanks, Guillermo! read more

Without. A. Doubt. - my favorite wine tasting in Napa. When I think of returning to Napa, my mind instantly goes to Reverie and wanting to go back. Of course, the wines were delicious (the cab franc was my favorite) - but the hosts (we had John), the ambiance, the views, the stories about the vineyard (and even the staff) are what truly tie the experience together and make it so phenomenal. When my party arrived, it was a little chilly out, and they offered us blankets! You instantly feel comfortable and like family. If available, MAKE SURE to take the ATV (hopefully with John's dog) to see the gorgeous views of the vineyard and wider Napa (photos attached). LOVE! read more

I would highly recommend this experience for those looking to get away to a world-class vineyard. If you in Sacramento and you have not made the one-hour drive to Experience this wine, then your not living. I don't give five stars often, but the memory of this visit will be hard to top. If you like great wine, great customer service, & beautiful place you got to come here! The winery is located in a beautiful home and they are building a new one just down the street. Our wine educator was Guillermo and he greeted us with a glass of white wine. We sat inside right next to the fireplace and it was nice and cozy. We then got their tempranillo which was also very good. After that he took us up to the platform so we can see the mountains and the winery from a higher point it was beautiful up there. Since it was raining we got on a closed atv. When we got back down the outside fire pit was open so we went to sit down. Also a very cozy spot since it was a cold day. We got to try their blanc d noir bubbles very tasty and also their Barbera. We can't wait to go back we had a great experience and we have to play bocce ball next time the weather is better. read more

From the moment you land on this property you feel at home. I visit a lot of wineries and even work at one part time. Never have I felt so much love at a winery. I don't even know where to start!!! Well first John (who was amazing) had a glass of wine waiting for us soon as we walked into this beatifual winery/home (which you can rent our for a day with a membership). We learned a lot about how this winery started, then headed outside for the rest of the experience (i don't want to call it a tasting cause it was so much more). We ended our experience with a wonderful taste of champagne. If you love dry you should try this winery (to be honest I'm not dry fan but the wine wasn't bad). While visiting Napa our hotel concierge made a reservation for us to visit two local, smaller wineries called Reverie II and Aonair. Both are owned by the same person, but each have a somewhat different style of wine making. Our visit to Reverie II started by being greeted by our host and wine educator. He was very easy-going and personable, yet very knowledgeable about wine making, Reverie and the terroir. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about this winery, the history of it, the wine making process and all the wines he let us sample. He took us on an ATV tour of the property and also stopped off at the barrel room to show us the process they go through to make wines. The views from the top of their property are beautiful, even if they recently had the fires that devasted the 2020 vintage of Napa grapes. The house they use for this tasting and the grounds are very nicely designed, with a big fire pit to sit by while sipping wine and learning about Reverie II. Their wines are available at a fair price and they offer a membership, which we were happy to join. If you are looking for a unique, "boutique" style wine tasting that is private and unhurried, we highly suggest you make a reservation at Reverie II!! read more

We came to Reverie for a tasting for two on the Monday of the long Martin Luther King Jr. weekend. We were greeted by Petals, the adorable resident boxer with a penchant for fetching and chewing on sticks. Our tasting led by Guillermo included a couple of tastings outside including one in the garden area of the grounds, a brief peek into the cave, ending with a tasting upstairs. It was a particularly quiet day it seemed so we felt as though we had the winery all to ourselves. We learned that they are building a new site which will be their future home. In the end we went home with a couple of bottles and a strong desire to return in the future. They don't charge tasting fees, and because of that it felt like our host didn't really care to conduct our tasting. We all felt like he had somewhere else he wanted to be and was doing our tasting because he had too. Every time new guests would arrive, he would go see who they were, seemingly to see if they were more important than us. The property is beautiful and the wines were very good as well. The house onsite was clean and spacious. I can see why a club member would want to stay there. We each bought a bottle of wine as well. read more

I've been here twice because it is so amazing! The first time my boss decided to give them a call and make a reservation for me and I loved it so much that during the tasting I made another reservation for a couple of weeks later. Our host was John and he is honestly amazing. This is a great place to go to if you are a new wine drinker or a wine expert. John took time explaining different wines and telling stories about how these different wines came to be. I love their bubbly Blan de blanc! Their Estate Reserve is also delicious. They also take you on an ATV ride up the mountain to this beautiful spot that oversees the different vineyards. It's beautiful. Lastly, there is no tasting fee as they solely get their business from membership. So, this is a great place to get introduced to wine. read more

Thanks to my dear co-worker, he was able to get us a tour here on the last Saturday tour of the season. I'm so glad. First: their greeter is cute. that dog came running towards us and started barking before we saw the beware of dog sign. The tour itself is fun, very informative. AS Kiken was awesome. Cave tour and the tasting under the redwoods are the highlight of the tour. Definitely recommended! read more

"Hidden gem" hardly begins to describe how amazing this winery is. Andy, the son of the owner, greeted us warmly and started us off with tastings of both the 2009 and 2010 Roussanne along with their A.S. Kiken (named after him!) red blend before leading us through the caves. To my surprise, we came to a dining table within the cavern and sat down for some of the 2009 Barbera while doing a little wine trivia...talk about a fun and interactive tour! Next, we walked over the bridge to a clearing amongst the trees for tastings of the 2007 Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot - both fantastic. We concluded with a tasting game between the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2008 Special Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. After having some of each, we did a blind tasting to see if we could tell them apart. It was one of a kind experience and easily the best tour I've done so far. I loved how Andy conducted it - spreading the tastings throughout the tour and making it so much involving than most other wineries with quizzes and tasting games. If it isn't already apparent, the wines here are top notch and I even took the plunge and picked up a bottle of the Petit Verdot despite the rather hefty price. Very highly recommended! read more

Andrew is a fun and a Kick-A2#@ guy - this is an inside joke if you have visited the winery. Lovely experience outside, the cave and the garden. The wines were excellent and the overall experience was truly integrated. From an entertainment and fun factor this is over the top... This was the first visit of the day and we did not know what to expect. Andrew's rapid fire walkthrough made us feel at home (read - New York....). His walkthrough of the vines and the cave was super exciting and we all felt an integral part of the tour with questions and friendly banter through the entire time. We all got a bunch of great wine and the vertical 'blind' tasting was a highlight. We spent more time with Andrew than perhaps we should have seeing that it is a working winery, but the visit was so exciting and we did buy some superb wines. I've been to a lot of wineries, but the smaller ones are always my favorite. Reverie is definitely not small in acreage, but the operation itself is tucked away in Calistoga, with wine sold only to private members. We were lucky enough to get a tour from Grant Senior. He was knowledgeable and always ready to pour us another glass. You could truly see his passion for the area and the wine as the tour went on. I loved our small intimate tour. I learned so much and was able to ask questions without feeling like an idiot. They're known for their Bordeaux style wines. I really enjoyed them so I bought a bottle of their Cabernet Franc (about $56). It was delicious and I would definitely like to visit this winery again in the future. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED: Tours are by appointment ONLY. So definitely call ahead and you will have a great experience. read more

Just opened the 1999 Special Reserve from my wine cellar. Truly one of the best Bordeaux varietals from the Diamond Mountain region. Love the limited production from this wine maker. We were greeted by a nice, refreshing glass of wine and a waggy tail, loved having Dodger around for the occasional belly rub as we indulged in the wines and view. After receiving both a condescending personal message from Norman at Reverie and the comment from Andrew I am absolutely disgusted with this place. Total lies! We did NOT go in there and say "just pour the wine". What are we? A bunch of classless and rude people? The bottom of the bucket, bashing techniques this place is using to defend themselves is sickening. The personal message I received was borderline harassment and even more condescending than the public response. We never agreed to buy wine, we wanted to pay a tasting fee but as we were sitting at the large table she told us they were waiving it, again we assumed this was because of the mix up with our reservation. Then we were literally followed to our cars telling us we hadn't bought enough wine yet (4 bottles were willingly purchased before we knew we HAD to buy wine). Seems they are having an issue with getting several poor reviews lately, I'm sure the public can see who the problem is. This place is full of liars. I close my review with "liars, liars, pants on fire!" Update (again): I got 7 emails from yelp today telling me that Andrew updated his comments 7 times. Give it up, what browsing through the comments proved to me is that I don't even think they have the right group, lol. Get over it. To update on Andrew's updated comment: Sara was pouring herself more than one pour of each wine. Their are several reviews on here that point out the rudeness of rhe employees, I am not the only person who feels the staff is incredibly rude, the comments from Andrew kind of prove that. I actually had positive things to say in my review, but every response from the winery has been negative and rude. It's unbelievable a business would act this way. I don't recall seeing a limo driver in the parking lot when we left, but no one in our group was rude. We were more shocked that we were followed to our cars after being told our tasting fee would be waived. For a business who doesn't care about yelp business or yelp reviews as Andrew states below, they spend a lot of time responding and defending themselves. Andrew, of course you can't take a lie detector test about our visit, you weren't on the tour. That's called hearsay. Update (again): I got 7 emails from yelp today telling me that Andrew updated his comments 7 times between the hours of 12:30am & 11am. Give it up already and focus on other, more important things in life. I just picked up hitch hikers in Shasta and took them as far as Eugene, Oregon. I encourage you to also partake in acts of random charity and kindness, it will certainly settle your soul. read more

I am a concierge in the bay area and have worked in some of the finest hotels in the area. There is not a better winery in the Napa Valley when you add in quality of wine, setting, and the personality of the sales people. People on yelp are not really qualified to evaluate the best wineries since there wine knowledge is lacking. However, it is never just about the wine, but the overall wine experience. Reverie is at the top of their game based on my clients experiences compared to other wineries. Yelp is a great source for restaurants, but for wineries it is not. Yelpers in general with few exceptions are just looking for a free tasting. It's kind like stealing, for each person who steals, the price goes up for the honest people. If you do not buy a significant amount at a winery without a tasting fee then you are in effect raising the price for the fair person who does buy wine. Wineries that do not have tasting fee, care greatly if you buy wine. But should a winery have a special policy for yelp people since they are more likely to not buy wine? I have spoken with many wineries and almost all of them do not like yelp customers. Wineries only make money when you buy wine. They lose money when you do not buy wine. If you do not like their wine or they do not treat you well that is a reason to not buy wine. However, if you like the wine, and do not buy wine, you are cheap, an ass, or both. Tasting fees hurt sales for small wineries, but if you are a large winery you have to many people with no intention of buying wine. A winery could have a special tasting fee for yelp customers of a large tasting fee of $50 per person. But why should a winery punish good customers who do buy wine? Almost all of my guests would buy a wine club or a case at reverie, as they get that part of visiting a winery is buying. Almost every guest I send to reverie will say they are the best winery they have been to. So, bottom line a winery is a business, in the midst of the fun, education, and beauty. Really, if you have no intention of buying 4 bottles per person which is what a winery needs to make money from a wine tour. You should pay a tasting fee at wineries that better fit your present economic situation. Remember at the end of day this is a business and i don't walk into you business and ask for free goods and services and then complain about it. read more

A very cool atmosphere and location for the winery. The tour was fun. That said, wasn't so impressed by the tour guide and the pressure to buy wine at the end. I would have been happy to pay for just the wine tasting and call it good, but you pretty much had to buy a bottle or two unless you wanted to feel like a cheapskate, and it really left a bad taste in our mouths, because we didn't really want to buy any wine. Edit: I read in a review below that he did this previously to another reviewer... But I, too, got a very unprofessional and unnecessary personal message from Andrew about my review. Really 3.5 Friendly and accessible one-on-one tastings in a circle of redwoods with the vines nearby. This was cool and new experience, even on a blazing hot June day. Everyone was extremely friendly and down-to-earth and the wine was lovely. I experienced a bit of bottle shock, though, when I saw that many of the wines cost around $60. Definitely "very special occasion" wine for my wallet! Because the tastings are so personal and you get so much attention, you feel even more obligated to buy something. We could really only afford to buy one bottle at $40 (we only had one more night in the area before flying home so a multi-bottle purchase would have also presented logistical problems) and we felt guilty not spending more after we'd been treated so well. I've now learned my lesson and will check websites more closely for bottle prices before making appointments of this private sale variety. However I do think there's some kind of dissonance created by Reverie's casual, outdoorsy feel and their price list. The guide books have them pegged as a unique, relaxing, rejuvenating experience in a beautiful setting but you really have to read between the lines to realize the level of commitment you're walking into. Great wine, friendly people, but be smarter than us and show up VERY prepared to purchase more than one bottle and/or join the wine club! read more

I have a new favorite winery. Small and personal, with a beautiful setting and amazing wine. The whole thing is done by private tour only. Each stop around the property brings a new wine, and a bit of information about the winery and the land. While at some wineries I feel like the staff care more about chatting you up than about the wine, at Reverie you sense that the staff love their job and the wine they are serving. Ok...so this was hands down to me...the COOLEST location for a winery. I had never been all the way up to Calistoga but our limo driver insisted we make the trek and check out this small vineyard and winery. SOOOOO glad we did. They only make about 500 cases a year and are family run...bottles start around $75 so they're not cheap by any means. Best things about them: They are by appointment only but not too hard to get into... They begin the private tour in a cave... It then moves out among HUGE trees where you sit at log tables surrounded by moss-covered rocks... You can receive a free bottle of wine if you can answer the guides questions properly (hint: 25 cases of wine come out of ONE barrel)... Highly recommend the journey up there...unforgettable. read more
